Making his 12th appearance on the podcast, our good friend Jim Callis from MLB Pipeline joined Chris for his annual post-draft appearance. He had some interesting thoughts on the Red Sox strategy this year, plus some more reports on the newest members of the system as we close out our draft coverage. Chris also got Jim's thoughts on the state of the farm overall, the newly promoted Franklin Arias, and just how legit the Red Sox reputation for developing arms is. And most importantly, Jim has now caught back up to Alex Speier for most appearances in podcast history! Got something to say? We love talking about what you want to hear about. Mike interviewed Jonathan Terrell, the Athletic Director at Nicholls State University, and Jono Barnes, the Director for the Urban League of Louisiana. Terrell discussed the economic impact of Nicholls hosting multiple major offseason football camps such as the Manning Passing Academy and Louisiana Line Camp. Barnes projected Saints RB Travis Etienne to be "the engine" of head coach Kellen Moore's offense this season.
The Giants gained several legitimate starters and one unforgettable Super Bowl moment from their 2008 draft class, but they sacrificed years of potential production when injuries repeatedly struck the group's most promising players.Kenny Phillips appeared to be developing into a high-level NFL safety before recurring knee problems changed his career. Terrell Thomas recorded 10 interceptions over two seasons before undergoing three ACL reconstructions on the same knee. Jonathan Goff became a full-time starter in 2010 before consecutive ACL tears ended his playing career.Mario Manningham gave the class its lasting legacy. His 38-yard sideline reception from Eli Manning opened the game-winning drive in Super Bowl XLVI and remains one of the greatest catches in Giants history.Drew and Rob review all seven selections, including Bryan Kehl, Andre' Woodson and Robert Henderson. They examine what each player accomplished with the Giants, where their careers went afterward and what they are doing after football. Was this a genuinely successful draft class derailed by circumstances outside the Giants' control, or does Manningham's Super Bowl moment carry too much of the class's reputation?Follow 2 Giants Goofballs on Spotify and leave a five-star rating and review on Apple Podcasts. The Giants' 2010 draft class gave Big Blue two real defensive hits in Jason Pierre-Paul and Linval Joseph, but it also came with careers cut short, missed chances, and one special teams moment fans still hate reliving. JPP and Linval helped deliver Super Bowl value, but what did the Giants lose with Chad Jones never getting a real chance and Linval reaching another level after leaving New York?Follow the show on Spotify and leave us a 5-star rating/review on Apple Podcasts if you enjoy the episode. This is the audio from yesterday's live show. Drew goes pick by pick through the Giants' 2010 draft class, starting with Jason Pierre-Paul at No. 15 overall. JPP became a two-time Pro Bowler with the Giants, won a Super Bowl with Big Blue, later added another ring with Tampa Bay, and still has not fully closed the door on playing despite being 37 and not recording a sack since 2022.The episode also looks back at Linval Joseph, who played four seasons with the Giants before becoming a two-time Pro Bowler in Minnesota; Chad Jones, whose football future was taken away by a devastating 2010 car crash; Phillip Dillard, whose Giants career lasted only seven games; Mitch Petrus, a Super Bowl champion whose life was tragically cut short in 2019; Adrian Tracy, who built a strong CFL career after leaving the Giants; and Matt Dodge, the punter forever tied to the DeSean Jackson walk-off return. This class is not easy to grade. The top two picks were legitimate wins. The middle of the class carried bad luck and short careers. The final pick became part of one of the most infamous collapses in Giants history. So is the 2010 Giants draft class underrated, unlucky, disappointing, or just one of the strangest groups this franchise has ever drafted?Merch: https://2giantgoofballs-shop.fourthwall.com/Support: https://buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsAll episodes: https://2giantgoofballs.buzzsprout.com/Send us Fan MailSupport the show

0:00 - The Avs signed Brett Kulak to a 5-year extension. That's a good move by the Avs brass. On the flipside, the Seattle Kraken offered Jason Robertson an 8-year contract woth $15 million per year and he turned it down. Man. That's a lot of bread to pass up on. Are the Kraken THAT bad?14:02 - After our clock troubles in the previous segment, it reminded the fellas of some rough Broncos days. Remember the first Nathaniel Hackett/Russell Wilson game when no one understood how to manage the clock? Remember when Broncos fans were yelling about counting down the play clock? Good times. After that, Caleb Williams was denied a trademark for the nickname "Iceman." Evidently that's his nickname? That sent the boys down a rabbit hole. If we re-did the 2024 NFL Draft, would Caleb Williams still go #1 overall?31:09 - Everybody calm down. Jokic WILL sign his contract extension. That being said, why hasn't he signed it yet? Why is he waiting?

The 2024 MLB Draft class is already having a major impact on the 2026 baseball season. With seven of the first nine picks in the draft already debuting and contributing to their clubs' success, there's a real possibility that the Class of '24 could go down as one of the best ever. The question now is: If we re-drafted today, who would go No. 1? On this episode of Baseball Bar-B-Cast, Jake Mintz and Jordan Shusterman examine the top 20 picks from the now-infamous 2024 draft and conduct a re-draft based on the recent performances of those players. Would the Cleveland Guardians still take Travis Bazzana No. 1 overall, or would they now prefer Sacramento A's slugger Nick Kurtz or St. Louis Cardinals shortstop JJ Wetherholt? Later, Jake and Jordan discuss Rafael Devers not exactly being thrilled with San Francisco Giants manager Tony Vitello after being pinch-run for, and whether he has a legitimate gripe with the move. They then talk about Bryce Harper's controversial triple that earned him the first cycle of his career for the Philadelphia Phillies, the Detroit Tigers' make-or-break stretch in the postseason race and recap all the other series from the past weekend. 1:31 – The Opener: 2024 MLB Draft Re-Draft 35:48 – How Sweep It Is: Devers Is Not Happy 53:03 – Tigers' Make-or-Break Stretch 55:53 – We Need To Talk About: Harper's Cycle 1:02:55 – Turbo Mode: Weekend Recap Subscribe to Baseball Bar-B-Cast on your favorite podcast app:
The Chicago Bulls rumor mill is heating up, and Haize is separating facts from cap on the latest buzz surrounding the rebuild. Could Ayo Dosunmu really return to the Bulls, or is that more hopeful thinking than reality? Should Chicago have any interest in Trae Young, or would that completely clash with the direction Bryson Graham and Tiago Splitter are trying to build?Haize also breaks down the Bulls' possible free-agent center options, including Walker Kessler, Isaiah Hartenstein, Mark Williams and Deandre Ayton, and explains which big man best fits Chicago's timeline, roster needs and developmental plan under Splitter. Then, we dive into a dream 2026 NBA Draft class if Darryn Peterson falls to No. 4. Could a class of Darryn Peterson, Dailyn Swain and Trevon Brazile give the Bulls the athletic, modern identity they've been searching for? From Peterson's star scoring upside to Swain's two-way wing tools and Brazile's length, defense and vertical pop, this class could reshape the Bulls' future.
The Chicago Bulls' new era is officially underway with Tiago Splitter replacing Billy Donovan as head coach — and Bulls fans should be ready for a very different style of basketball in Chicago.Haize breaks down Splitter's offensive principles, including more cutting, ball screens, Iverson cuts, conceptual reads, pace, three-point volume, and a system that could help unlock Josh Giddey, Matas Buzelis and the Bulls' young core. How will Splitter's background with the San Antonio Spurs, Paris Basketball and Portland Trail Blazers shape the Bulls' identity? Then we play Facts or Cap on the latest Bulls rumor: could Chicago actually trade down from the No. 4 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft? Multiple teams have reportedly checked in, but is Bryson Graham really willing to move off a chance at Cam Boozer or Caleb Wilson? Finally, Haize builds his dream Bulls draft class if Cam Boozer is available at No. 4: Cam Boozer, Morez Johnson Jr. and Ryan Conwell. Could this trio give the Bulls the perfect blend of offensive structure, physical identity and shooting?
The Chicago Bulls rumor mill is heating up fast as Bryson Graham prepares for his first NBA Draft leading the front office. On today's Chicago Bulls Central, Haize breaks down the latest Bulls rumors in a new Facts or Cap segment, including whether Chicago could make a run at Walker Kessler with an offer sheet, if Jalen Duren is a realistic free agency target, whether Noa Essengue could be packaged with the No. 15 pick in a draft trade-up, and if Kingston Flemings is truly the Bulls' guard target. Then we dive into Haize's dream 2026 NBA Draft class for the Bulls: Caleb Wilson at No. 4, Cameron Carr at No. 15, and Tarris Reed Jr. at No. 38. This trio could give Chicago the size, length, athleticism, physicality, shooting, wing upside, rebounding, and rim protection that fits Bryson Graham's SLAP philosophy and Tiago Splitter's development-first coaching style.Could this be the draft class that finally gives the Bulls a real identity? Could Walker Kessler become a serious Bulls target? Is the Noa Essengue trade smoke real? Let's break it all down.
Jim Callis, Jonathan Mayo and Jason Ratliff begin a four-part series on each demographic of the 2026 Draft Class. After talking about the College World Series -- with Jim in Omaha for his favorite baseball event -- they kick the series off by analyzing the college pitching in the class. Santa Barbara's Jackson Flora tops the list of prospects in that pool, and he joins the pod to talk about his outstanding season for the Gauchos, how much he learned from Santa Barbara's pitching factory and what he thinks about the next steps of his career. Then the guys preview Saturday's MLB Network Prospect Showcase between the Columbus Clippers and Scranton-Wilkes Barre RailRiders, a game that features six Top 100 prospects, headlined by Yankees No. 1 George Lombard Jr.. They close things out with a Mailbag question about whether the Giants should consider Flora with their pick at No. 4. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

On the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, host Christopher Carter welcomes Post-Gazette Steelers insider Ray Fittipaldo to analyze the team's moves with its 2023 NFL draft class. Are new deals for LB Nick Herbig and TE Darnell Washington a sign of how much GM Omar Khan and coach Mike McCarthy believe in that group over the long run? Will Joey Porter Jr. and Keeanu Benton also get new deals this summer? And if so, will those players form the team's new core of stars, replacing the old guard led by Aaron Rodgers, T.J. Watt, Cam Heyward, Jalen Ramsey and DK Metcalf? Our duo tackles those questions, then ponders the defense's future. How long will it remain the highest paid unit on that side of the ball in the NFL? Will the spending outlast the tenures of names like Ramsey, Watt and Heyward in Pittsburgh? Or will spending start flowing more to the offensive side of the ball and names like Troy Fautanu, Mason McCormick, Zach Frazier, Jaylen Warren and others who could be up for new contracts in the next couple of years? A draft class searching for traction The Detroit Lions Podcast put the 2024 draft class under a harsh light. Two years in, the group has flashed but not finished. The Detroit Lions need more in the NFL's tight margins. This feels like a prove-it season for the entire class, headlined by first-round pick Terryon Arnold at No. 24 overall after a trade up with Dallas from 28. Terryon Arnold needs consistent CB1 tape Arnold has shown it in stretches. Early last year he looked the part outside. Midseason he matured. He played less handsy. He read the receiver better. Then came the injury. Then penalties. Then a general lack of effectiveness. He has not played like a first-rounder yet. The expectation remains that he opens 2026 as a starting outside cornerback. The benefit of the doubt is fading. He has one more season before the fifth-year option decision becomes straightforward or complicated. The Dallas trade context matters Detroit paid a first and a third to move up for Arnold. Those Dallas picks turned into Tyler Guyton and Cooper Beebe. Guyton has started at tackle and shown an inconsistent but impressive profile. Beebe has started at center and been decent, short of high expectations. No one knows if the Lions would have made the same choices. They did spend time with Beebe at the Senior Bowl. Viewed through that prism, the move has not produced the intended return yet in Detroit. Ennis Rakestraw's availability and a crowded slot Rakestraw has played eight games in two years. Multiple injuries hit both seasons, echoing a college pattern where timing hurt his offseasons more than his Saturdays. This is a big year for him. The room around him has tightened. Detroit drafted Keith Abney in that spot and signed Roger McCreery there. Christian Risdon and Avante Maddox can play slot nickel. Outside, they brought Brockus back. Nick Whiteside is back, and to this point he has shown more in coverage than Rakestraw. The challenge is clear. Day 3 pieces still seeking a spark Giovanni Manu arrived as an offensive lineman from British Columbia in the fourth. Also in the fourth, Vaki was listed as a safety at Utah but Detroit drafted him to play running back, a role he handled at Utah and at the Senior Bowl. In the sixth, Mangin Wingo came in at defensive tackle from LSU. The Lions also added guard Chris Mahogany from Boston College. Collectively, the group has been underwhelming and frustrating. There is time, but not much, for this class to match the standard set elsewhere on the roster. The 2026 tape has to change the story. #detroitlions #lions #detroitlionspodcast #terrionarnold #ennisrakestraw #giovannimanu #2024nfldraft #mekhiwingo #christianmahogany #sionevaki Learn more about your ad choices.
