Hour One of the Good Morning Football Podcast begins with reaction to the Raiders naming Kirk Cousins QB1. Hosts Jamie Erdahl, Kyle Brandt, Manti Te'o, and Isaiah Stanback discuss if naming Kirk the starter was the right decision. With the NFL season less than a week away, what's your biggest question about the AFC West? What do you make of Howie Roseman saying it's not a make or break season for Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni? Indiana football's defensive secondary may be the biggest question mark on the roster — but it also has enough talent to become another major strength for Bryant Haines' defense. In this CrimsonCast positional preview, Galen Clavio breaks down the Hoosiers' cornerbacks, safeties, rover options, transfer additions, and young depth heading into the 2026 season. The episode starts with what Indiana lost. D'Angelo Ponds was one of the defining players of IU's national title run, locking down one side of the field, allowing just one touchdown across his two Indiana seasons, and stacking up postseason honors after huge performances in the Rose Bowl and Peach Bowl. The Hoosiers also have to replace Louis Moore, who turned in a spectacular final season with six interceptions, and Devan Boykin, whose versatility at rover gave Indiana tackles, pass breakups, turnovers, and a defensive touchdown. From there, Galen looks at how IU tries to rebuild the back end. Jamari Sharpe appears ready to step into the top cornerback role after a strong 2025 season capped by the interception that sealed the national championship game. Opposite him, Ryland Gandy and A.J. Harris are the key names to watch, with Gandy bringing experience in Indiana's system and Harris bringing high-end talent, Big Ten experience, and a skill set that may fit better in IU's zone-heavy structure than it did in Penn State's man-heavy defense last year. The safety and rover discussion centers on Amare Ferrell, Preston Zachman, Byron Baldwin Jr., and Quan Sanks. Ferrell returns after a second-team All-Big Ten season and now has a chance to raise his NFL Draft stock while leading a reshaped secondary. Zachman brings veteran experience from Wisconsin if he can stay healthy. Baldwin looks like the likely next answer at rover after flashing late last season, while Sanks gives Indiana another physical transfer option after two seasons at Cincinnati. The biggest theme is development. Indiana's secondary had early busts last year before growing into a championship-level unit by the end of the season, and Galen argues that this year's group may need a similar ramp-up period. With North Texas, Howard, and Western Kentucky before Big Ten play, the Hoosiers have time to build chemistry — but by the time Ohio State arrives, this secondary will need to be much closer to finished.Subscribe to the Back Home Network for more CrimsonCast coverage of Indiana football, IU athletics, Curt Cignetti, Bryant Haines, the Hoosiers, Big Ten football, and 2026 season previews.
Before 2026, college players normally had four seasons of competition within a five-year eligibility window. An underclassman who still had NCAA eligibility could declare early for the NFL Draft after being out of high school for at least three years. Once he gave up his remaining college eligibility and entered the NFL Draft, that decision was effectively permanent. If he was drafted, signed an NFL contract, went to camp, made a practice squad, or otherwise became a professional, he could not later say, “That didn't work out; I'm going back to college.” The NCAA specifically prohibited players who had signed professional contracts from returning to college competition. So the traditional path was basically: College → declare for NFL Draft → professional football. No going backward. But now, some players are choosing to step down the ladder instead of up the stairs. We chat all about it, plus an update from Scott on how much has changed since we did, only last Tuesday! There's no livestream tonight, but we'll be back next week! The Jets may own three first-round picks, but Shaun Morash warns that still might not be enough to control their quarterback future. With Tiki Barber projecting several potential last-place teams that could also be searching for quarterbacks, the Jets could find themselves stuck behind multiple desperate franchises in the 2027 NFL Draft. Tiki pushes back, believing the upcoming class has enough talented quarterbacks to keep the Jets from falling into no man's land. Shaun and Tiki also run through Tiki's projected last-place finisher in every NFL division and debate which teams could immediately enter the quarterback market. Plus, the Giants' expanded throwback uniform schedule has Shaun wondering whether the franchise is preparing to make its classic look permanent.
The Jets may have three first-round picks, but that does not guarantee they can land their quarterback of the future. Shaun Morash is in for Evan Roberts alongside Tiki Barber, and they examine how several quarterback-needy teams could finish below the Jets and block any attempt to move up in the 2027 NFL Draft. Tiki believes the class could offer enough quality options, while Shaun warns that the projected quarterback depth could shrink dramatically by draft time. The hour also features Tiki's predictions for every NFL division's last-place finisher, optimism surrounding the Giants under John Harbaugh, and concerns about Jaxson Dart's health and throwing motion. Plus, the Giants' expanded throwback uniform schedule sparks speculation that the classic look could eventually become permanent.
The Tennessee Vols are finally entering the 2026 college football season but how good can Josh Heupel's team actually be? Charlie Burris and Zach Ragan break down the entire Tennessee football schedule, predict every game, reveal their final records and discuss whether the Vols have what it takes to compete for a College Football Playoff spot. Entering the season, Tennessee has plenty of questions. The biggest one? How quickly can true freshman quarterback Faizon Brandon develop against an SEC schedule? The Vols have talent all over the roster, including playmakers like DeSean Bishop, Mike Matthews and Braylon Staley, but the quarterback position will determine just how high this team can climb. Charlie and Zach go game-by-game through Tennessee's 2026 schedule, including major matchups against Texas, Alabama, South Carolina, Texas A&M and LSU. They discuss:

Could nearly one-third of the NFL have an incentive to tank for a quarterback? On the latest episode of A Must Win Game with Maggie Gray, Maggie looks at the surprising number of NFL teams that could potentially lose interest in winning in 2026 if their season starts going sideways — because the 2027 NFL Draft could feature an extraordinary group of quarterbacks. With names like Arch Manning, Dante Moore and other highly regarded prospects potentially available, quarterback-needy teams could have a huge incentive to think about the future rather than fight for a few extra wins. Maggie's count? Nearly one-third of the NFL could potentially be looking toward the 2027 quarterback class. So which teams could be sellers at the trade deadline? Which teams might decide there's more value in losing than winning? And could the NFL actually see an NBA-style tanking conversation develop around the next franchise quarterback? Maggie breaks down why the 2027 QB class could completely change the incentives for struggling NFL teams. Also on the episode: time stamps 00:45 Joe Burrow's surprising admission about once believing he wouldn't have a long NFL career — and whether Bengals fans should be concerned. 7:48 Steve Sarkisian's criticism of NFL players attempting to return to college football for another year of eligibility — despite a Texas player being involved in a similar legal fight. 13:31 Tarik Skubal's espresso machine drama after taking the machine he bought for the Tigers clubhouse with him to Los Angeles. 17:32 How many NFL teams will be tanking for a QB? 26:40 Why Maggie doesn't see the Yankees making a World Series run, with questions surrounding Aaron Judge, the pitching staff and shortstop. Ryan put together a piece that broke down a lot of the Steelers draft picks over the last 10 years. It wasn't just pointing out if the Steelers made a bad pick, but if they also passed on a good player that would have fit a void in real time. Was the Kenny Pickett selection as bad as we remember because others around him haven't panned out either? Ryan admitted that he liked Kendrick Green coming out of college and he turned into a terrible selection. What happened with Chase Claypool and how did he fail? Who should be mostly at fault for bad draft picks? PM Team Draft – Best defensive players in NFL history.

Lane Kiffin and LSU are at the center of the latest college football controversy after the SEC announced potential penalties for programs that attempt to bring NFL players back to the college level. Charlie Burris and Zach Ragan break down the entire situation on the Big Orange Podcast, including why the SEC finally decided to take action, why Lane Kiffin's argument has created so much controversy and what this means for the future of college football. The biggest question facing the sport: How far are teams willing to go to build their rosters? After recent eligibility changes opened the door for some former college players who entered the NFL Draft process to potentially return, programs began exploring whether NFL players could come back to college football. The SEC responded by creating significant penalties for schools that attempt to make that move, including potential suspensions and financial punishments. Charlie and Zach explain why targeting coaches and schools instead of players is the only realistic way to enforce these rules. Players wanting another opportunity makes sense but allowing programs to continuously bring back NFL-level talent would fundamentally change roster construction across college football. And naturally, Lane Kiffin is right in the middle of the controversy. The guys discuss why Kiffin's argument that “someone else will do it” doesn't hold up, why LSU's situation has become the center of attention and why this controversy says a lot about the current state of college football. What should Alabama fans expect from Russell as QB1? What former Crimson Tide quarterback does his game remind us of? And how high is the ceiling for Kalen DeBoer's Alabama offense with Russell behind center? We also dive into several huge stories around the SEC:
