"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new." [2 Corinthians 5:17] If we are to move into being an "Acts" kind of church, we must begin to truly be a new creature in Christ, an "Acts" kind of Believer. 4 areas: Mind: thinking, setting up beliefs. Soul: personality, heart, feelings, fears, strongholds. Body: mouth, actions of belief, what you set your hand to, the way your feet walk. Spirit: your eternal being, your tie to God (silver cord). "Remember him—before the silver cord is severed, and the golden bowl is broken; before the pitcher is shattered at the spring, and the wheel broken at the well, and the dust returns to the ground it came from, and the spirit returns to God who gave it." [Ecclesiastes 12:6-7] ________: A new beginning, a new way of thinking. "But clothe yourself with the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah), and make no provision for indulging the flesh, put a stop to thinking about the evil cravings of your physical nature to gratify its desires or lusts." [Romans 13:14 (AMP)] Romans 12:2; Colossians 3:2 How do you do this? It is a process of obedience. Know the Word: your manual for life. "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work." [2 Timothy 3:16-17] 2 Corinthians 10:4-5; Psalms 119:11 2. ________: heart, feelings, fears, strongholds. "My son, pay attention to what I say; turn your ear to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to one’s whole body. Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. Keep your mouth free of perversity; keep corrupt talk far from your lips. Let your eyes look straight ahead; fix your gaze directly before you. Give careful thought to the paths for your feet and be steadfast in all your ways. Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil." [Proverbs 4:23-27] "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble." [Psalm 9:9] How do you do this? "We live by faith and not by sight." [2 Corinthians 5:7] ________: actions/words, how we walk out our belief. It is what you do, not what you say. "……..For out of the overflow of a man’s heart his mouth speaks." [Luke 6:45] "But be doers of the Word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." [James 1:22] 1 Corinthians 11:1; Ephesians 4:1 How do you do this? "Be careful of your words. They bring life or death." [Proverbs 18:20-21] Your words reveal your life and walk with Christ. Ephesians 4:29; Colossians 4:6; 1 John 2:6 4. ____________: eternal part of a man; must be redeemed; connection to spiritual things, supernatural. "God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth." [John 4:24] "But I say, walk by the Spirit and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, so these are opposed to each other to keep you from doing the things you want to do." [Galatians 5:16-17] How do I do this? "Be imitators of Christ, therefore, as dearly loved children, and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God." [Ephesians 5:1] 1 John 2:6; John 13:15 This new creature in Christ is called to do great works: "For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do." [Ephesians 2:10] John 14:12; Mark 16:17-18 "We must be different than the world. Total agreement with the Word of God Total agreement with each other:" [Acts 2:1 Answers: Mind, Soul, Body, Spirit "The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble."
