Send us Fan MailWhat do you do when you've prayed... waited... and nothing seems to be changing? In this episode of Small Beginnings, I want to encourage anyone who finds themselves in that space between God's promise and its fulfillment. After waiting seven long months for my husband's house to sell, the Lord gently shifted something in my heart. Instead of focusing on what I couldn't see, I began thanking Him each day for the buyer—even though I had no idea who that person was.Just days later, God answered in a way only He could. We'll explore what Hebrews 11:1 really means, why honest prayers like, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief," matter so much, and how thanksgiving can transform our waiting into worship. I'll also share a simple picture that has forever changed the way I think about faith: we're not walking a tightrope, trying not to fall—we're walking a wide plank, securely held by the hands of a faithful God.If you're waiting for healing, provision, restoration, direction, or an answer that seems delayed, I pray this conversation reminds you that God is already at work, even when you can't yet see it.Sometimes all it takes is one phone call. One opportunity. One open door. One moment of God's favor to change everything.Scriptures: Hebrews 11:1, Mark 9:24, Proverbs 3:5–6, Isaiah 40:31, 2 Corinthians 5:7If this episode encourages you, I'd love for you to share it with a friend who is in a season of waiting. And if you've never read my book Small Beginnings: A Journey to the Impossible, I hope it reminds you that God often does His greatest work through our smallest steps of faith.
Bishop Jim's insightful messages help others find THEIR METRON through M~otivation E~nlightenment T~ranscendence R~enewal O~utreach and N~etworking Learn more: www.bishinthenow.com Follow Jim Swilley on Youtube to see the videos live Sundays at 11:11 am – https://www.youtube.com/bishinthenow In Part 4 of Seated in Heavenly Places, Bishop Jim Swilley weaves together personal stories, spiritual insight, and practical wisdom to illustrate what it means to live in the “fullness of joy.” Through the renovation of his parents' former home, the symbolic return of gardenia bushes, the repair of a beloved piano, and reflections on relationships and kindness, he teaches that joy is not merely an occasional emotion—it is our natural spiritual frequency. The message centers on healing old wounds, recognizing divine synchronicities, embracing life fully, and allowing the broken places within us to “vibrate once more.” Key Quote “Touched by a loving heart, wakened by kindness, chords that are broken will vibrate once more.” — Bishop Jim Swilley (quoting Fanny Crosby) Main Takeaways 1. We Are Already Seated in Heavenly Places Bishop Jim reminds listeners that heaven is not merely a future destination but a present reality. Drawing from Paul’s teaching, he emphasizes that believers have already been seated in heavenly places and are called to manifest that reality now. Scripture: Ephesians 2:6 2. Joy Is the Goal Using Hebrews 12:2 and John 16:21, he explains that difficult seasons are not meant to destroy us but to lead us toward greater joy. Like childbirth, the pain is not the destination; the new life that emerges is. Scriptures: Hebrews 12:2 John 16:21 Romans 8:18 2 Corinthians 4:17 3. Full-Circle Moments Confirm the Journey The story of removing his late mother’s old gardenia bushes only to have a landscaper independently recommend planting four new gardenias became a powerful symbol of healing, affirmation, and being in the right place spiritually. Bishop Jim encourages listeners to notice similar moments of synchronicity in their own lives. 4. Broken Chords Can Vibrate Again A piano repair revealed that expanding metal brackets were preventing the hammers from striking the strings properly. Bishop Jim uses this as a metaphor for life: hurts, disappointments, and negative words can dampen our ability to resonate with joy, but kindness and healing can restore what was lost. Scripture: John 15:11 5. Words Carry Creative Power The message highlights how deeply words affect us. Hurtful words can wound for years, while encouraging words can become lifelong anchors. Bishop Jim shares several examples of affirming statements that continued to shape and strengthen him long after they were spoken. Scriptures: Proverbs 18:21 Mark 5:34 6. Kindness Restores Human Dignity Whether encouraging a struggling young person, affirming marginalized individuals, or simply showing appreciation to workers helping with his backyard project, Bishop Jim emphasizes that kindness can restore a person’s sense of worth and help them reconnect with joy. Scriptures: Matthew 25:35-40 Luke 4:18 7. Happiness Is Holy One of the strongest themes of the message is that taking care of yourself, enjoying your life, and embracing joy are not selfish acts. They are spiritual acts. Joy is not something reserved for rare occasions; it is meant to become the atmosphere of daily living. Scripture: Psalm 16:11 Memorable Quote “Being happy is holy. Taking care of yourself is holy.” Closing Prayer Focus Bishop Jim closes by declaring that everyone listening would be awakened by kindness, restored in their broken places, and called into their highest vibrational frequency. His prayer echoes Jesus’ words: “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.” — John 15:11

Pastor Shayne New closes out the final week of our teaching series, The Life of Abraham. Abraham's story reflects both faith and failure, showing that God works through imperfect people to build something greater than one lifetime. Every life leaves a legacy—whether good or bad—this message challenges us to consider what we are passing on to future generations. We see through Abraham's journey that faith lived out in everyday moments shapes families, influences children, and creates a spiritual inheritance that lasts beyond possessions or achievements. In this message, Pastor Shayne explores the following Scriptures: Hebrews 11:8–19 Genesis 12 Genesis 18:19 Proverbs 22:6 Jeremiah 29:11 John 15:16
Do I really need to get baptized? Is it really that important? What if I was sprinkled as a child? Pastor Alex showed us the importance of water baptism. Baptism means to be submerged and there is so much significance in the submersion. We see through the book of Acts a pattern of the early church. When the Gospel went out and those who heard placed their faith in Jesus, they were immediately baptized. It wasn't optional. There is power in going under. There is significance in going under. We are publicly declaring our faith in Christ, are baptized into his death, and arise a new creation. If you have placed your faith in Christ, why are you waiting? Leave it all in the water! Scriptures: Hebrews 6:1–2 Romans 6:3–4 Romans 10:9–10 Matthew 28:19–20 Mark 16:15–16 Acts 2:38 Mark 16:16 Mark 10:13–16 Acts 2:37–38 Acts 8:12 Acts 8:26–38 Acts 9:17–18 Acts 10:44–48 Acts 16:13–15 Acts 16:25–34 Acts 18:7–8 Acts 22:12–16
Before you can build strong faith, you must lay a solid foundation—and that foundation begins with repentance. In this powerful Bible study, we unpack what true repentance really means—not guilt, not shame, not empty emotion—but a transformational turning toward God.Too many believers are stuck in cycles of remorse without real change. But God didn't call us to perform—He called us to relationship.

Life doesn't always add up, and trusting God in those moments can be hard. In this episode, I talk about what I've been learning—and still learning—about faith. Not the kind we quote easily, but the kind we wrestle with when plans fall apart and clarity disappears. I'll share what faith in God really means to me right now: how to believe when you don't understand, how to wait without losing hope, and how to see God's hand even when His plan feels hidden. You'll hear personal reflections, biblical examples, and encouragement to help you keep trusting God one step at a time. As we approach this upcoming election, he is calling all pastors and leaders to speak about the Christian biblical foundations of our government, why it hangs in the balance, why we will lose it and all of our freedoms. God allowed America to be birthed and great good has come from it but we must stand firm and speak up for what is right!Scriptures: Hebrews 13:4Genesis 1:27, 2:24Deuteronomy and LeviticusMark 10:7Mathew 5:14-162 Corinthians 10:5Alex McFarlandAsk Alex Online alex@alexmcfarland.com booking@alexmcfarland.comBook - Assault On AmericaLetter To The American Church (book & movie)Upcoming EventsEquip RetreatThe Cove - July 12-14DonateTruth for New GenerationsTNG - PO Box 10231 Greensboro, NC 274081-877-937-4631 (1-877-YES-GOD1)

In this heartfelt devotional, the speaker discusses the importance of dissatisfaction with the status quo for personal and spiritual growth. Drawing upon scriptures from Hebrews and Matthew, the speaker offers insights into the effect of complacency on progress and shares his belief on the character traits of a leader desiring to move to a new level. Promising next time to talk more about being word-driven instead of tradition-driven, he concludes with a stirring prayer. He encourages his listeners to share the message with others who might need inspiration to leave their comfort zones. 00:00 Introduction and Gratitude 01:13 The Banner of the Cross: A Song of Faith 01:54 Marching On: A Call to Action 02:02 Exploring the Scriptures: Hebrews and Matthew 03:39 Character Traits of a Leader: A Biblical Perspective 06:15 Moving to a New Level: The Role of Dissatisfaction 06:53 The Danger of Status Quo 07:53 Jesus' Dissatisfaction with Man-Made Traditions 08:36 Closing Prayer and Encouragement --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/gnbc/message

Happy New Year from Highlawn Baptist Church! Every year, on the first Sunday, Highlawn reviews the Covenant of the church as a congregation. This is not done as a loyalty pledge, or some other nonsense, this is done to remind us of who we are, why we exist, more importantly Who God is, and what is our mission for God. The podcast today starts right after the Covenant was read. Today, Pastor Jason expands on what a church is, the mission, the purpose, and what components are necessary in order to call a group of people - a church. Join us as Pastor Jason outlines the importance of the church in the world today and always. SCRIPTURES: Hebrews 11:1-2 and Luke 2:22-40.SHOW NOTES: We are familiar with many of the details and characters found in Luke 2 – Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, and angels. Yet later in the chapter, we are introduced to two people, a man and a woman, who exhibit strong qualities of trust, confidence, and hope in the Lord of Israel. These two had lived their lives in an admirable and commendable fashion. There's much we can learn from Simeon and Anna. Simeon is described as righteous and devout, and his name means one who hears and obeys. Anna, a prophetess and widow, has lived at the temple for many decades where she worships night and day in fasting and prayer. Each of them has been waiting for the consolation of Israel – the coming of the Lord's Messiah. When Mary and Joseph bring their infant son to the temple in Jerusalem, Simeon and Anna respond with words of blessing to God and thanksgiving for the arrival of the promised Messiah.
