On a humid September day in 1997, a man walking his dog discovered the nude body of 26-year-old Tracy Habersham in a ditch near Fort Benning, Georgia. She had been strangled. What investigators couldn't know then was that her death marked the beginning of a six-year killing spree.Part 2 of 2VICTIM PROFILE:Paul Durousseau's victims shared heartbreaking commonalities. They were young African American women—many of them mothers—struggling to build better lives. Tyresa Mack was raising three small children. Nikia Kilpatrick was six months pregnant when she died; her two young sons, aged 11 months and 2 years, were found alive but malnourished beside her body two days later. Shawanda McCalister was also pregnant. These women trusted the wrong person, and that trust cost them everything.CASE SIGNIFICANCE:Between 1997 and 2003, Durousseau used his various jobs—security guard, taxi driver—to identify and gain access to vulnerable women. His method was consistent: gain trust, enter their homes, bind them, sexually assault them, then strangle them with whatever cord was available. A phone cord. A coaxial cable. An extension cord tied in a distinctive military-style slipknot. His victims included Tracy Habersham, Tyresa Mack, Nicole Williams, Nikia Kilpatrick, Shawanda McCalister, Jovanna Jefferson, and Surita Cohen. German authorities also suspect him in additional unsolved murders near U.S. military bases during his Army deployment.CONTENT WARNINGS:This episode contains detailed discussion of sexual assault, strangulation, domestic violence, and child endangerment. Listener discretion is strongly advised.KEY DETAILS:Durousseau was born in Beaumont, Texas in 1970 and experienced significant brain trauma in utero and as a toddler. He was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. After graduating high school in 1989, he enlisted in the Army in 1992 and was stationed in Germany, where he married fellow soldier Natoca Spann. In 1997, while stationed at Fort Benning, he was arrested for kidnapping and rape but was acquitted. Less than a month later, Tracy Habersham was found murdered—DNA would eventually link Durousseau to her death.RESOURCES:For case documentation, sources, and additional information, visit: https://www.mythsandmalice.com/show/obscura/If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.CREDITS:Research and narration by Justin Drown. We hear stories about black cab confessions, health anxiety breakthroughs, childhood hymns, nostalgic comfort TV, and why talking is still the most underrated therapy of all.In the Agony Ab section they tackle group-chat politics, Christmas gifting dilemmas and thoughtful vs. sexy presents… with some truly unhinged suggestions from Pete. The CIA infamously experimented with LSD, but few know that the same MKULTRA program involved sub-projects that included experiments with caffeine, nicotine, and marijuana. Since 2020, caffeine consumption and nicotine vaping has increased dramatically in the United States, alongside approximately 3 solid years of Yale University-CIA behavioral nudging for pharmaceutical company products, just like the ones that supplied the CIA with their abundant LSD. The CIA Operation Midnight Climax, which involved drugs and sex, is another infamous experiment in depravity and mind control. Combining the two experiments involving stimulants and sex, and the associated trauma and tensions induced alongside in the projects, paints a clear picture of our society today. A country addicted to caffeine, nicotine, marijuana, and prescription drugs; a country fed constant propaganda about war, disease, terrorism, politics, social injustice, etc.; a society that is spied on through cell phones, televisions, and computers, and increasing sexually perverted entertainment; a country in which every home has been turned into a 225 Chestnut Street. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. What if surrender isn't something you do at all? In this episode, Thom reframes surrender and “letting go” through the Vedic lens, not as effort, but as the spontaneous movement of the mind toward greater charm. With vivid metaphors from Guru Deva, monkeys, and even jelly beans, Thom reveals how true surrender happens naturally when the mind is free of stress and guided by charm.Listen as Thom explains how Vedic Meditation trains us to release unnecessary tenacity and experience surrender as a state of freedom, not struggle.Episode Highlights[00:45] Can You Surrender the Surrendering?[03:33] Pre-approving Movement of the Mind[07:06] Effortless Movement Towards Charm[09:38] Vedic Meditation: The Training Ground for the Removal of Unnecessary Tenacity[12:46] Q - What's the relationship between retrospective surrender and letting go?[12:56] Monkeys That Don't Let Go[15:34] Don't be Like the Monkeys[17:43] The Capacity to See the Future in the Making[22:06] Close Your Eyes and Stay AwakeUseful Linksinfo@thomknoles.com https://thomknoles.com/https://www.instagram.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.facebook.com/thethomknoleshttps://www.youtube.com/c/thomknoleshttps://thomknoles.com/ask-thom-anything/

In this week's episode of BizNinja Entrepreneur Radio, we're celebrating a birthday — and having our minds blown at the same time.I sat down with Eric Collett, founder of A Mind for All Seasons, to talk about one of the most overlooked assets in entrepreneurship: your brain. Not your mindset. Not productivity hacks. We're talking about the hardware — the biology, energy production, inflammation, and metabolic function behind every thought, decision, and action.Eric spent 16 years running assisted living and memory care communities, became obsessed with neurodegenerative diseases, and eventually built a science-backed system that helps people improve cognitive performance, stabilize mental health, and in some cases even reverse symptoms of dementia. This conversation goes deep. We're unpacking everything from why your “brain fog” isn't random… to how concussions, hormones, inflammation, and even cold sores can sabotage your mental clarity… to why Alzheimer's may actually be optional for this generation.Yes — optional. Let that sit for a minute. If you've ever felt stuck, unfocused, emotionally drained, or like your hardware just isn't keeping up with your software… this episode might be a turning point.Key TakeawaysWhy protecting your brain is the #1 success lever for entrepreneursThe real difference between “software” (skills) and “hardware” (your biology)Why brain fog has 15–30 measurable causes — and no one-size-fits-all supplementHow Eric went from executive director to quitting his job in three days to start his companyWhy Alzheimer's is now considered preventable — and what that means for youThe surprising link between inflammation, concussions, mental health, and cognitive declineHow personalized brain evaluations uncover hidden “holes in the ship”Why many people self-sabotage by withholding information from doctorsHow Eric helped transform the mental health of a young suicidal student by uncovering a clue she didn't think matteredWhat it means to “save a million brains” — and how you can take charge of your ownChapters00:00 Introduction and Birthday Celebration01:41 Early Entrepreneurial Spirit02:55 The Importance of Brain Health05:01 Transitioning to Brain Health Advocacy09:40 Understanding Brain Function and Misconceptions12:30 Personalized Approaches to Brain Health18:24 Success Stories in Brain Health22:32 Addressing Mental Health Across Ages26:49 Conclusion and Future Aspirations

In Episode 237, in conversation with Dr. Gillian Lockitch, Scott Fulton reframes "successful aging" as more years, more moments, more money. He unpacks his MEDAC model—Mind, Environment, Diet, Activity, Community—and shows how small, practical tweaks compound: design homes for longevity, manage toxin exposure sensibly, eat for quality/variety/fiber, move all day (not just "exercise"), train balance, and build supportive community. They also explore simple ways to measure what matters and why stepping outside your comfort zone is a powerful aging tool. Scott Fulton is a longevity educator and positive-aging innovator whose work sits at the intersection of health and housing. He teaches adult learners about healthspan and aging (Northwestern, UVA, University of Delaware), created the MEDAC system (Mind, Environment, Diet, Activity, Community), is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the True Health Initiative Council, and served as President of the National Aging in Place Council. He and his wife live in Charlottesville, VA, in a demonstration home designed for optimal aging. Timeline: 00:00 – 03:20 | Why "Wealthspan" now Gillian's introduction: aging is inevitable, poor health isn't. Scott's thesis: extend health, life, and financial security—so you can collect more meaningful moments. 03:21 – 09:58 | Designing a home that ages with you One-step entries, wider doors, "free-flow" layouts, smart use of terrain. Beauty + function beats "clinical" design and prevents future injuries/barriers. 09:59 – 18:13 | From big systems to positive aging, Scott's career pivot: apply systems thinking to aging. Against siloed care; for measurable, holistic balance (homeostasis) and innovation that actually changes outcomes. 18:14 – 26:59 | MEDAC: Mind & Environment Stay curious; protect cognition. Shape two environments: your home and your exposures. You can't avoid toxins entirely—reduce risk and diversify behaviors. 27:00 – 31:53 | MEDAC: Diet & Activity Start with quality, add variety, and count fiber. Activity ≠ just workouts: build cardio, strength, balance, and move through the day to fight sedentariness. 31:54 – 40:52 | MEDAC: Community + Resilience & the "one bold thing" rule Social connection protects brain and practical living. In this episode, we challenge the idea that studying as a student (and throughout the rest of our lives) is a necessary evil. Rather, we discuss why study is to be embraced and how it plays an important role in forming us into Christ's image as we increasingly learn to love God with our minds. My guest is Dr. Richard Smith, who has just written Such a Mind as This, a study of the role of thinking well in the Old Testament. In this podcast we discuss: The role the mind plays in our flourishing What the Old Testament has to say about the role of thinking in spiritual formation Why so many churches and ministries see the mind as the enemy of growth in Christ How the shift in worship music can be harmful to our spiritual life How the belief that deeper study is harmful to our spiritual life negatively affects students Examples of students who have flourished by asking good questions and finding good answers Resources mentioned during our conversation: Richard Smith, Such a Mind as This John Frame, The Doctrine of the Knowledge of God Gresham Machen, Christianity and Liberalism Daniel Strange, Making Faith Magnetic Richard Smith, The Heart Thinks Getty Music Sovereign Grace Music L'Abri Suggested book list (left side of home page) Such a Mind as This YouTube Lester R. Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for November 30, 2025 is: iconoclast eye-KAH-nuh-klast noun Iconoclast originally referred to someone who destroys religious images or who opposes their veneration. It is now used to refer broadly to anyone who criticizes or opposes beliefs and practices that are widely accepted. // The comedian had developed a reputation as a contrarian and an iconoclast for whom no topic was off-limits. See the entry > Examples: “Chicago will be the only U.S. city to see the 92-year-old iconoclast Yoko Ono's new show. ... ‘Yoko Ono: Music of the Mind' goes back to the start of the artist's career in the mid-'50s, and the role she played in the creative worlds of New York, Tokyo and London.” — Carrie Shepherd, Axios, 1 Apr. 2025 Did you know? Iconoclast comes from the Middle Greek word eikonoklástēs, which translates literally as “image destroyer.” While the destruction wrought by today's iconoclasts is figurative—in modern use, an iconoclast is someone who criticizes or opposes beliefs and practices that are widely accepted—the first iconoclasts directed their ire at religious icons, those representations of sacred individuals used as objects of veneration. The Byzantine Empire's Iconoclastic Controversy occurred in the 8th and 9th centuries, but the word iconoclast didn't find its way to English until the 17th century. Figurative use came later still.

What if you could transform your rushing and impatience into peace, clarity, and real accomplishment? This week on Love University, we explore how to do exactly that. In a world addicted to speed and urgency, many people are unknowingly ruled by what Dr. Avila calls the Rush Weakness—the inner pressure to do more, faster, all the time. But rushing rarely leads to real progress. Instead, it drains energy, clouds thinking, and invites mistakes. The good news is that this mental habit can be transformed into a deeper strength known as the Mind of Patience. Drawing from his class book, Invincible You (https://tinyurl.com/3y3szh27), Dr. Avila teaches you how to replace reactivity with calm direction so you can stop racing against time and start living with purpose. Here's how transformation begins: Recognize the Rush Weakness as a fear-based habit Rushing feels productive, but it's often driven by fear—fear of falling behind, missing out, or not doing enough. It masquerades as urgency but creates inner tension and impulsive decisions. Transformation begins with awareness: noticing when the Rush Weakness is controlling your pace, and realizing that calm action often leads to better results. Train your patience like a mental muscle Patience is not passivity. It's a deliberate, focused mindset that brings clarity under pressure. A key tool in building this strength is the “Choose the Longer Line” exercise: intentionally standing in the slower queue to recondition your tolerance for waiting. By facing down the discomfort, you gain control over your impulses and strengthen emotional resilience. Shift from rushing to rhythm When guided by the Mind of Patience, your actions become more grounded. You stop chasing time and start managing energy. This shift leads to fewer mistakes, less stress, and greater clarity. Results come not from moving faster, but from aligning thought with purpose—and trusting that the right outcomes will unfold when approached with steadiness and focus. Learn how to break free from the Rush Weakness and step into a new pace of life—one built on patience, presence, and sustainable achievement.

Dr Kenneth Bruce Allegiance To The King Daniel 12:5-13 Living With the End In Mind
In this concluding episode on "The Thunder, Perfect Mind," Gene and David navigate the profound paradoxes of one of Gnosticism's most enigmatic texts. The voice of Barbelo - divine consciousness itself - speaks through declarations that shatter conventional understanding: "I am godless, and I am the one whose God is great," "I am control and the uncontrollable," "I am peace, and war has come because of me." These aren't riddles to be solved intellectually, but invitations to experiential awakening. Each paradox forces a confrontation with the persistent question: who is the "you" that experiences both honor and scorn, shame and shamelessness, closeness and distance? The discussion reveals how these thunderous statements point toward non-duality and the illusion of separation. David and Gene explore how the text functions as a mirror reflecting the entire human condition - the consciousness that remains constant while experiencing the full spectrum of human emotions and circumstances. Drawing connections to the Hermetic axiom "as above, so below," Egyptian mysteries of Maat's judgment, and Bernardo Kastrup's philosophy of consciousness, they demonstrate how ancient wisdom anticipated modern understandings of the nature of reality itself. The episode culminates with the text's most radical teaching: "What is inside of you is what is outside of you... it is visible and it is your garment." This obliterates the final duality between self and world, revealing consciousness as the underlying substance of all existence. The text promises that those who stop identifying with "fleeting passions" and temporary forms will find their "resting place" where they "will live, and they will not die again" - a Gnostic vision of awakening to our undying essence.

Ben Goertzel joins the show to explore humanity's future in a world shaped by AGI — from the evolution of intelligence to the emergence of machine consciousness. They discuss the transition from narrow AI to general intelligence, the possibility of AGI becoming humanity's “next species,” the ethics of decentralized superintelligence, and how open-source AI might be the key to avoiding catastrophic centralization. Ben explains why AGI may reshape economics, governance, and biology, why consciousness is not limited to humans or biology, and how AI networks may begin cooperating, competing, and evolving in ways we cannot predict. They explore the future of personhood, identity, and whether humans will merge with AGI — or be surpassed by it. Exchange-traded funds can help you cut your tax bill. All funds must distribute capital gains from the stocks and bonds that they sell throughout the year. The gains can leave you stuck with unwanted taxes. ETFs and mutual funds differ when it comes to tax efficiency. It starts with how the investments are traded and how the transactions are treated. The differences can result in ETF investors owing less than mutual fund investors or nothing at all because ETFs can minimize their capital gain distributions. What happens when a neurologist spends more than 30 years not just treating the brain, but really listening to the person behind the diagnosis? In this episode, I sit down with Dr. Carolyn Larkin Taylor, a board certified neurologist and author of Whispers of the Mind: A Neurologist's Memoir. Carolyn shares stories from the exam room and the bedside that will move you, challenge you, and restore some faith in what medicine can look like when compassion leads the way.We talk about her journey from optometrist to neurologist, why MS and Parkinson's patients hold a special place in her heart, and how treatments for these conditions have changed over the years. Carolyn also opens up about the pressures of corporatized medicine, medical gaslighting, and the burnout many doctors are feeling as insurance and billing rules pull them away from real human connection. One of the most powerful parts of this conversation is the story of Prancer, the golden retriever therapy dog who worked by Carolyn's side for 14 years and comforted patients in ways medicine never could. We also explore addiction, end of life decisions, and the neurologic illnesses that affected her own family. If you have ever felt dismissed as a patient, know someone living with a neurologic condition, or just want to hear stories of courage and humanity in healthcare, this is an episode worth your time.Listen in, share it with a friend, and check out Whispers of the Mind to dive even deeper into Carolyn's stories.Send us a textJoin us in spreading holiday cheer and making a child's Christmas magical!
