Welcome to Part 2 of our very special episode of Mind the Game with LeBron James and guest co-host Tyrese Haliburton. In this episode, Tyrese and LeBron talk about the amazing 2025 Indiana Pacers playoff run, the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder and of course Tyrese's devastating injury in Game 7. Then the guys get into the lazy ‘overrated' narrative that surrounds Tyrese and what it's like being a villain in the NBA. And finally, the guys get into the teams that have been influenced by the Indiana Pacers including The Boston Celtics and the Phoenix Suns. Thanks for watching Mind the Game. Florida received some snow over the previous weekend, causing the Internet to erupt in conspiracy chants of climate change or weather modification. It never snows in Florida, most assume, despite a documented history dating back 200 years of occasional snow in the northern parts of the state. The same conspiracy hysteria erupted in 2024 too, including the idea that snow wasn't even real. Despite it having melted 12 months ago, the new snow, and a few flurries in Florida, is being called fake. As is the fog, ice, and even cold weather in general. In fact, some believe the cold weather itself is a conspiracy to freeze a giant monster in the ocean. This is all despite December, January, and February being the month of Old Man Winter, who has been beaten and buried with no memory or remorse. *The is the FREE archive, which includes advertisements. Body image isn't just “how you look”—it's how you feel in your body, and that inner experience can quietly shape conflict, closeness, sex, and day-to-day connection in a relationship. Today, we sit down with Samantha Jerome (registered dietitian nutritionist + certified diabetes educator) reframes “health” as a whole-person process—food, movement, sleep, stress, relationships, creativity—and warns that extreme New Year “reset” mindsets often turn into control, shame, and burnout. The episode emphasizes curiosity, small sustainable shifts, supportive environments, and clearer partner communication so body-image struggles don't hijack time, mental space, or intimacy. AI is changing many aspects of our lives, so it's reasonable to expect that it will impact democracy, too. The question is how? Two experts in technology and politics join us to discuss how we can harness AI's power to strengthen democracy. Yes, there will be deepfakes and automated misinformation, but there can also be greater opportunities for the government to serve people and for all of us to have a greater say in our systems of self governance. In their book Rewiring Democracy: How AI Will Transform Our Politics, Government, and Citizenship, Bruce Schneier and Nathan E. Sanders describe how AI could change political communication, the legislative process, bureaucracy, the judiciary, and more. It's a more hopeful argument than you might expect. They discuss how AI's broad capabilities can augment democratic processes and help citizens build consensus, express their voice, and shake up long-standing power structures. As they say in the interview, AI is just a tool; how we use it is up to us.Schneier is a security technologist and the New York Times bestselling author of 14 books, including A Hacker's Mind. He is a lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School, a board member of the Electronic Frontier Foundation, and Chief of Security Architecture at Inrupt, Inc.Sanders is a data scientist focused on making policymaking more participatory. He has served in fellowships at the Massachusetts legislature and the Berkman-Klein Center at Harvard University.Related EpisodesThe Problem(s) with Platforms (Cory Doctorow)Building Better Bureaucracy (Jennifer Pahlka)Laboratories of Restricting Democracy (Virginia Eubanks) Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. A talk by Thanissaro Bhikkhu entitled "The Well-trained Mind"
Fear is shaping how our kids grow up, and it may be costing them their confidence, resilience, and hope. In this conversation, I talk with Iuri Milo, a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience, about what he is seeing firsthand in schools and therapy rooms across the country. We explore the rise in student anxiety and suicide, how fear-based parenting and constant digital input affect young minds, and why building protective factors matters more than chasing risk labels. Iuri shares how School Pulse was created after a wave of student suicides, how proactive text-based support is helping students feel heard before they reach crisis, and why confidence, connection, and mindset are essential for long-term mental health. This episode offers a grounded, hopeful look at how parents, schools, and communities can help young people develop an Unstoppable mindset rooted in courage rather than fear. Highlights: 00:10 – Hear how Iuri's work in therapy led him to focus on helping students and families. 02:22 – Learn how immigrating to the U.S. shaped Iuri's resilience and outlook on life. 03:43 – Discover how missionary service helped Iuri build confidence and maturity. 12:13 – Hear what led to the creation of School Pulse after student suicides in the community. 17:20 – Learn why fear-based parenting may increase anxiety instead of confidence. 34:24 – Discover how proactive text-based support helps students before crisis begins. About the Guest: Iuri Melo is married to Katie, and is the grateful father of 5 incredibly cool children (Aydia, Elle, Jona, Kole, and Leila). He is an LCSW of 20 years, and the Co-Founder of SchoolPulse. Iuri is the published author of “Mind Over Grey Matter - Training the Mind to Heal the Brain”, and the best-seller for teens “Know Thy Selfie - Tips, Tricks, and Tools For an Awesome Life.” He spent his 20 years as an LCSW in private practice, where he won several awards for his work, and developed a unique modality for his work with clients, “Adventure Based Therapy.” In 2017 after a several teen suicides hit his community in Southern Utah, and at the request of a local principal, Iuri Melo Co-created SchoolPulse. Since then SchoolPulse has become the best student support service in the country, proactively delivering optimism, positivity, growth mindset strategies, and the best positive psychology skills directly to students and parents over text, email, and through schools. This innovative evidence-based service is not only inspiring teens' lives, but also parents, and faculty. SchoolPulse's objective is to help students to perform better academically, socially, and personally. “Everyday at SchoolPulse is a highlight reel of courage, kindness, and growth. It's amazing to see what a kind, respectful, and gentle interaction can do to heal and inspire our souls.” With more than 300 schools, in over 25 states, SchoolPulse is a tsunami of goodness that is flooding schools throughout the country. It sounds a bit fantastic that Iuri's vision of “blessing the human family” is happening over text, but indeed it is. Iuri's sincere and enthusiastic approach can be seen in his VIDEOS which SchoolPulse delivers to students, parents, and faculty via text and email. Iuri releases videos every week based on questions that teens have, and provides them with the answers they need to develop an extraordinary and growth minded psychology. When boundaries feel hard, it's often not because you don't understand them — it's because resistance shows up quietly. For many dentists, that resistance looks like overgiving, pushing through fatigue, or second-guessing yourself long after the day is done.In this short guided meditation, I'll help you:Notice resistance with compassionTune into your body instead of pushing past itExperience boundaries as clarity, not conflictThis practice isn't about fixing yourself or forcing change. It's about listening — honestly and without judgment. You're in control of your experience. In this solo episode of the Do Good to Lead Well podcast, I unpack the concept of empathy and leadership. Although considerable research has shown the multiple benefits of empathetic leadership, it may have become a victim of its own success. As it has become increasingly integrated into leadership conversations, there are widespread misunderstandings about what it is and what it is not. While empathy is often viewed as ‘all about feeling,' there is more to the concept. I'll explore its multidimensionality and rather than being one sole element, the secret sauce is how all of this comes together. When only one aspect of empathy is tapped, it's an incomplete picture. What You'll Learn- The science behind the power of empathy in leadership.- The most common way people use to define empathy.- Why affective (e.g., emotional) empathy is only one aspect of high empathy leadership.- The crucial difference between empathic joining and empathic concern.- The power of perspective-taking.- How inaction can be at the heart of leadership excellence.KEYWORDSPositive Leadership, Empathy, Emotional Intelligence, Leadership Excellence, Strategic Thinking, Personal Growth, Communication, 360-Feedback, Affective Empathy, Cognitive Empathy, Empathic Concern, Empathic Joining, Leading with Intention, Leading with the Heart and Mind, The Power of Thoughtful Inaction, CEO Success

I will visibly help them at the moment of their death—they will see the face of their mother. 7. I have obtained this grace from my divine Son, that those who propagate this devotion to my tears and dolors will be taken directly from this earthly life to eternal happiness, since all their sins will be forgiven and my Son and I will be their eternal consolation and joy.

When I had insomnia, I couldn't figure out why anything having to do with sleep felt so GIGANTIC in my mind.Every nuance, every sensation, every night felt more critical than the last.It was very life-or-death to me.What I didn't realize at the time was:There was a perfectly logical reason for this.My brain wasn't malfunctioning. It was doing exactly what brains are designed to do.It was filtering IN what mattered most. And filtering OUT what didn't.Who knew? And because not sleeping had become such an emotionally charged experience in my life, my brain learned to amplify every thought, sensation, and scenario around that exact thing. In this episode, I break down the neuroscience behind focus and explain why insomnia can feel so all-consuming.Tune in to learn:Why focus isn't always something you chooseHow the brain's filtering system determines what dominates your awarenessWhy sleep starts to feel urgent and impossible during insomniaHow meaning shapes attentionWhy lasting change comes from new perspectivesIf sleep has taken over your thoughts, your days, or your sense of safety in the world, this episode will help you understand WHY, and gently point you in a new direction forward.Enjoy!Connect with Beth:
In this episode of The Mind and the Machine, philosopher Dr. Michael Augros explores what Thomas Aquinas can teach us about artificial intelligence, consciousness, and human thought. Can AI truly think or understand, or does it merely simulate intelligence? Drawing on Aquinas's philosophy of mind, Aristotle's theory of cognition, and careful analysis of cognitive acts vs computational processes, this video examines whether machines can ever possess real understanding, awareness, or consciousness. We investigate: Whether thinking is fundamentally different from computation Why sensation and understanding may require life itself The difference between cognitive acts and mechanical processes How medieval philosophy sheds new light on modern AI debates This lecture is part of a 10-part series on artificial intelligence, philosophy, and the nature of mind, produced in collaboration with Thomas Aquinas College. If you're interested in AI ethics, philosophy of mind, consciousness, cognition, neuroscience, and classical philosophy, this series offers a rigorous and thought-provoking exploration of what it truly means to think.

Send us a textWhat happens when we know exercise improves outcomes for cancer survivors…but most patients still can't access it? In this episode, I sit down with the guest speakers behind the upcoming APTA CSM session “Mind the Gaps: Advancing Equitable Implementation of Evidence-Based Exercise Programs for Survivors of Cancer” to unpack the real-world barriers between evidence and practice in exercise oncology. We dig into what it actually takes to implement evidence-based programs like Strength After Breast Cancer in clinical settings—and why equity has to be designed into the process from the start. From pre-implementation planning and adapting programs on the fly, to building community partnerships that expand access for under-resourced and minority survivors, this conversation moves beyond theory into actionable strategies clinicians can use now.If you care about closing research-to-practice gaps, advancing health equity, and delivering better rehab outcomes for cancer survivors, this one's for you.

Here we sharpen the person behind the practitioner by focusing on things that improve our performance, optimizing team dynamics and the human behavior that embodies the hidden curriculum of medicine. In this episode, we’re excited to continue collaboration with Arena Labs, where host Dr. Marco Propersi interviews Jackie Pen, Heading of Performance Coaching at Arena Labs. Arena Labs is helping us measure healthcare performance through innovative programs designed to combat burnout and enhance personal wellness using data-driven strategies. 🔙Previously Covered on REBEL MIND: Performance Under Pressure – What Medicine Can Learn from Elite Teams 🤔Cognitive Question How do specific performance coaching strategies and tools assist healthcare professionals, particularly those in emergency medicine, in managing stress and preventing burnout effectively? 💭 Why This is Important Burnout among healthcare workers is a growing concern, especially in such high-pressure environments as emergency and intensive care units. The collaboration with Arena Labs brings forth a vital focus on using data and coaching to build resilience among medical professionals. 🏥How This Applies to the Emergency Department or ICU? In the chaotic and high-stakes environment of the ED/ICU, healthcare professionals are often required to make split-second decisions under pressure while managing emotional stress. This necessitates not just clinical acumen but also strong emotional resilience and stress management skills. Performance coaching provides the tools and frameworks to enhance these skills, offering strategies like the de-stress breath and transition protocols to help clinicians navigate between high-pressure situations efficiently. These tools are designed to not only improve their professional performance but also ensure they are emotionally present for their personal lives, ensuring a healthier work-life balance. ⏩ Things You Can Do on Your Next Shift Practice the De-stress Breath: Before moving from one critical case to another, take a moment to take two inhales through the nose followed by an extended exhale, helping to reset your nervous system by activating your parasympathetic nervous system.Implement a Transition Protocol: Choose a point in your journey home to mentally switch from clinician to family member, helping you to be more present outside of work.Optimize Your Nutrition and Rest: Even small changes during your shift, like meals that promote easy digestion or quick physical activities, can make a significant difference in your energy levels.Engage with Wearables: If possible, use wearables to monitor your physiological responses, helping tailor personalized strategies for your shifts 👀 Where to Learn More Intrigued by the possibilities this partnership offers? You can explore more by visiting Arena Labs’ website here. Also, check out the comprehensive coaching program available, designed specifically for healthcare providers looking to enhance their well-being and performance. 🚨 Clinical Bottom Line In an era where burnout is pervasive, our collaboration with Arena Labs offers a beacon of hope for healthcare workers. Today, I want to dive into the soul, which plays a crucial role in living an overcomer's life. This will be a two-part series. Today, we focus on the mind. In the next post, we will finish by looking at the will and emotions. The SoulYour soul consists of your mind, will, and emotions, and each plays a vital role in how you experience life:Mind: What I think about. Will: What I do with what I think about.Emotions: What I feel as a result of what I think and do."For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." — Hebrews 4:12What is the Mind? (The Gatekeeper)We are starting with the mind because it is the entry point for the rest of your soul. Think of it as the "Lead Domino"—what happens here dictates the direction of your entire life. The mind is the intellectual part of the soul where you process information, create beliefs, and store memories. This is where you decide what you believe about God and how you fit into His story. As A.W. Tozer famously said: “What comes into our mind when we think about God is the most important thing about us.”Why the Mind Matters (The Command Center)The mind is like the command center of your soul. Since God gave us the gift of thought, we must be aware that whatever occupies our mind most will eventually flow into our actions and affect how we feel. The Connection to Your Heart While the mind is the Command Center, your Heart is the "Wellspring" or the source of your life."Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life." — Proverbs 4:23Think of it this way: Your heart is the Root, but your mind is the Gatekeeper. If the Gatekeeper allows toxic thoughts or worldly labels to enter, they eventually take root in your heart. The mind's greatest power is agreement. A thought is just a suggestion until you align your mind with it. When you agree with a thought, you give it the opportunity to enter your heart and shape your reality.Read the rest here: https://open.substack.com/pub/litwithprayer/p/the-soul-part-1-the-bridge-between?r=5sajy&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true

Send us a messageOur minds are constantly being filled - by responsibilities, expectations, information, comparison, fear, and urgency - sometimes all at once. We learn to live with “mental noise” the same way we learn to live with background sound, until it's so constant we forget it's even there. What we think shapes how we live. It influences how we see ourselves, how we respond to others, and how we understand our faith. Renewing the mind isn't about becoming someone else. It's about noticing where our thinking has become rushed, rigid, or rooted in fear rather than truth. It's about allowing ourselves to return to a sense of clarity. So in this episode the invitation is to pay attention to the inner dialogue you've been carrying. Because renewal doesn't begin with answers - it begins with awareness. And the mind is where that work takes its first breath.

Sean Carroll's Mindscape: Science, Society, Philosophy, Culture, Arts, and Ideas
Evolution with natural selection involves an intricate mix of the random and the driven. Mutations are essentially random, while selection pressures work to prefer certain outcomes over others. There is tremendous divergence of species over time, but also repeated convergence to forms and mechanisms that are unmistakably useful. We see this clearly in eyes and fins, but the basic pattern also holds for brains and forms of social organization. I talk with philosopher Rachell Powell about what these ideas mean for humans, other terrestrial species, and also for forms of life we have not yet encountered.Blog post with transcript: https://www.preposterousuniverse.com/podcast/2026/01/26/342-rachell-powell-on-evolutionary-convergence-morality-and-mind/Support Mindscape on Patreon.Rachell Powell received her Ph.D. in philosophy from Duke University. Daniel begins by asking Ram Dass to help us understand why people aren't happier. Ram Dass discusses the suffering that arises from clinging to sense experiences, our strong attachment to our identities, and awakening to the realization that there is no absolute reality.Daniel asks, practically speaking, how a person can begin to change. Ram Dass explores how real change comes from within, not from external circumstances. We can embrace the delight of simplicity and learn how to quiet our minds.Ram Dass provides an example of the power of meditation. He and Daniel discuss entering the space behind thought and how the intellect is a terrific servant but a terrible master. Ultimately, it's better to be identified with our being, rather than our knowing or doing. The Ram Dass community gathers regularly to engage in meaningful discussions about the podcast. We invite you to join us and share your curiosities, insights, and wisdom. His New York Times bestselling book, Emotional Intelligence, was named one of the 25 “Most Influential Business Management Books” by TIME Magazine. Daniel is also a board member of the Mind & Life Institute, an organization that fosters dialogues and research collaborations among contemplative practitioners and scientists. Learn more about Daniel's work at danielgoleman.infoAbout Ram Dass:Ram Dass's spirit has been a guiding light for generations, carrying millions along on the journey. Ram Dass teaches that through the Bhakti practice of unconditional love, we can all connect with our true nature. Through these teachings, Ram Dass has shared a little piece of his guru, Maharaj-ji, with all who have listened to him. Learn more at ramdass.org.“But we don't yet appreciate the delight that comes from simplicity. Some of our poets, people like Whitman and all, have described it, but we've never really bought it yet. We really don't understand that in that simplicity lies a space in which one can plumb one's own depths of being and appreciate that who you are is an entity that has taken birth, that is passing through a series of experiences, all of which are useful in order to awaken to one's deeper self.” – Ram DassSee Privacy Policy at https://art19.com/privacy and California Privacy Notice at https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

What if sustainable weight loss wasn't about dieting harder—but about restoring your metabolism and learning how to live well for the long term?In this episode of the Visibly Fit Podcast, I sit down with Maxime Sigouin, founder of MAVI Wellness and author of Forever Fit, to unpack what metabolic health really means—and why most people regain the weight they work so hard to lose.Maxime's story is powerful. After his late partner was diagnosed with breast cancer at just 22 years old, everything changed. Through whole-food, plant-based nutrition and lifestyle shifts, she lived years beyond what doctors predicted. That experience didn't just shape his beliefs—it ignited his mission to help others avoid preventable chronic disease and reclaim their vitality. We talk about why most diets fail, how metabolism actually works, and why mindset—not motivation—is what keeps people stuck. If you've ever felt discouraged by past programs, overwhelmed by conflicting nutrition advice, or frustrated by weight that won't stay off, this episode is for you. You'll learn why Maxime calls healthy living a “seatbelt for life,” how reverse dieting protects your metabolism, and why taking care of yourself isn't selfish—it's one of the most loving things you can do for the people who depend on you. This conversation will challenge how you think about food, movement, discipline, and aging—and it will leave you encouraged, equipped, and ready to take your next step toward lasting health.Chapters:[00:00] Podcast Preview[01:12] Topic and Guest Introduction[04:10] A Life Driven by Purpose[06:35] Cancer, Nutrition, and a Wake-Up Call[08:52] Why Plant-Based Living Is a “Seatbelt for Life”[09:50] Athletic Performance on a Plant-Based Diet[10:55] Rebranding, Marriage, and MAVI Wellness[11:40] What “Forever Fit” Really Means[14:20] Reverse Dieting Explained[17:10] Why Transformation Starts in the Mind[19:45] Self-Sabotage and Talking Yourself Off the Ledge[20:50] Why Self-Care Is Not Selfish[22:36] The Five-Phase Forever Fit Blueprint[30:20] The Power of Sleep, Hydration, and Daily Movement[36:12] The One Mindset Shift That Changes Everything[38:49] Where To Get Forever Fit Book[39:25] Final Encouragement[41:30] Maxime's Life Verse and TattoosResources mentioned:Forever Fit Book Website: foreverfitbook.comGet your copy on AmazonConnect with today's guest:Maxime Sigouin is an accomplished fitness coach and athlete, and the founder of MAVI Wellness, formerly known as Fit Vegan Coaching. Internal medicine and functional medicine physician Shiv K. Goel discusses his article "Mind-body connection in chronic disease: Why traditional medicine falls short." Shiv explores the limitations of conventional medical models that focus solely on acute intervention while ignoring the emotional roots of chronic conditions. He shares the compelling story of Linda whose physical ailments were deeply connected to decades of suppressed grief and trauma. The conversation delves into the science of psychoneuroimmunology and how unprocessed emotions get stored in the body's tissues eventually manifesting as disease. Shiv explains why true healing involves not just medication but also meditation and somatic therapy to rewrite the body's internal narrative.
