Death makes its way to Liberty Avenue, taking Captain Astro and a nameless person with it. Michael grieves the loss of his hero; Debbie goes toe to toe with a grouchy and insensitive detective; Brian and Justin have opposing responses to a potential threat; and Lindsay makes a surprising discovery about her late grandmother. But this episode isn’t all death and danger! George is GETTING. HIS. LIFE. Thanks to Emmett Honeycutt!
On the eight Monday Mocha show, we still continue in Hollywood and chat to someone who has left a heart print on my journey. I first caught a glimpse of him on Showtime's Hit Series, "Queer As Folk," where he played the character Emmett Honeycutt. From there, Peter Paige has gone on to be one of the creators and writer's for the ABC's hit show, The Fosters. One of the many many things I love about Peter is the fact that he always makes time to connect with you. A lot of people reach out to him about the art he creates and how it has impacted their lives - I was one of those people and am better for it. A very special Monday Mocha. "Connection is more important than ever at this moment in time. Despite the fact that we are tapped into the internet, in some ways we are less connected. It's important for me to share a meaningful moment with someone." Everyone loves Emmett Honeycutt, including his secret admirer. This week, we’re fortunate to have Emily (@deep-fried-cheesecake) join us for a look at episode 2x08. After breaking up with Ben, Michael starts dating again, Justin goes to a party and meets someone his own age; Mel and Linds enjoy traumatizing Michael with tales of their epic sex life, and Emmett meets his mysterious secret admirer - George Schickel, of Schickel’s Pickles - the pickles people prefer.
Dennis visits the production office of the ABC Family hit "The Fosters" on the Warner Bros. lot to talk to one of the creators of the show, Peter Paige. Peter talks about the inspiration for the show, how he met his producing partner Brad Bredeweg, how they got J Lo on board as Executive Producer, the gay prom episode he's so proud of and the outcry that erupted over the kiss between two 13 year-old gay characters on the show. Peter also shares memories from his time playing Emmett Honeycutt on Showtime's "Queer as Folk," which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. He recalls being mobbed by fans at a cast DVD signing after Season 1, the lessions he learned from playing an unapologetically effiminate character and the dude he met in a steam room who hit on him shamelessly then, after discovering he was on the show, proceeded to totally trash it in front of him. Other topics include: the time Peter got startruck by Meryl Streep, nighmare auditions, his childhood obsession with a certain Cassidy and what's gotten him through the ups and downs of Hollywood.
Peter Paige became well known as his brilliant and hilarious performance as Emmett Honeycutt on Showtime's ground breaking series, "Queer as Folk," from 2000-2005. He current is the Creator and Executive Producer of ABC Family's "The Fosters." Peter joins us to look back on Queer as Folk as we continue to celebrate the show with having the cast on our show but also talk about The Fosters and what's next for him!
