The Mizpah Hotel has been voted the number one haunted hotel by a couple of publications. Not surprising for a hotel that has stood for 120 years. And it's been able to stand this long because this is one strong hotel. This building was formed from concrete, stone and brick in the Nevada town of Tonopah near the height of its mining boom. The lighted sign that sits on the roof can be seen from miles away. We wonder if that sign not only attracts travelers to come and stay the night, but does it get the attention of spirits as well? There are several spirits here, including a Lady in Red. Oh, and did you know that the Clown Motel is in Tonopah too. We'll talk about that as well. Join us for the history and hauntings of the Mizpah Hotel. This Month in History features National Hagfish Day. On Friday, National Review published text messages from former Virginia House of Delegates member Jay Jones (D) sent to a Republican colleague — House Delegate Carrie Coyner — in 2022. In the messages, Jones expresses disdain for Virginia House Speaker Todd Gilbert (R), then says that he would shoot Gilbert in a hypothetical scenario where he could kill either him or dictators Pol Pot and Adolf Hitler. Jones went on to suggest that he wanted Gilbert's children to die from gun violence because it might prompt the speaker to change his stance on gun control. PJ Accetturo went from traditional filmmaker to running a seven-figure AI video agency, creating viral content that's been viewed millions of times. He breaks down exactly how filmmakers can adapt to AI tools without losing their creative edge. This episode covers the specific workflow, tools, and mindset shifts needed to capitalize on what PJ calls "the biggest gold rush of all time." Key Takeaways AI tools like VO3 and ChatGPT can be learned in days, but filmmakers have a huge advantage because they already understand story, pacing, and what makes content compelling The opportunity is massive right now—PJ says it's "very easy to build a seven-figure agency" because brands need AI content but most agencies haven't adapted yet You don't need to abandon traditional filmmaking; many successful approaches involve pairing experienced directors with AI specialists to create hybrid workflows The key to viral AI content is being funny, self-aware about using AI, and creating content that surprises and delights audiences rather than boring them About PJ Accetturo PJ is a seasoned innovator in the TV and advertising space, having served as CEO for multiple media companies and bringing over 15 years of industry experience. He first gained recognition at 18 when National Geographic showcased his work, setting the stage for a career creating content for global powerhouses like Toyota, Red Bull, The Atlanta Braves, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As a commercial director, he spent over a decade working with some of the world's biggest brands. In 2019, PJ demonstrated his knack for audience engagement by growing a YouTube channel from zero to one million subscribers in six months. He then turned his sights to long-form storytelling, raising millions to produce his original animated series, Ghosts of Ruin, where he served as writer and Executive Producer. That project saw him collaborating daily with an Oscar-nominated director, a two-time Emmy-winning showrunner, Hans Zimmer's music team, and an A-list voice cast featuring Rosario Dawson, Justin Long, Nathalie Emmanuel, and Tony Revolori. Motivated to shorten production timelines and reduce costs, PJ is spearheading new processes with generative AI. With a commitment to ethical data training, he is now working to create world-class media with AI-powered workflows. In This Episode  [00:00] Welcome to the show! Very easy, very quickly." - PJ Accetturo "Winners only... to anyone who's not wanting to adapt quickly, like displacement's coming." - PJ Accetturo "Your greatest skill is that we know how to get exposure on a camera and frame a good shot, like that's going to be tough to build a business off of. But if you can know more strategy and understand story structure... that's our unique advantage." – Ryan Koral "Everyone in the AI industry that has attention right now, most of them are not traditionally filmmakers... but the opportunity here, if everyone doesn't know is like whether you yourself are a traditional filmmaker for 10, 15 years, you can learn the tools in a few days, two weeks max." - PJ Accetturo Guest Links Find PJ Accetturo online Follow PJ Accetturo on Instagram | X Check out PJ's newsletter - AI Filmmaking Links  FREE Workshop Available "How to Consistently Earn Over $100k Per Year in Video Production While Working Less Than 40 Hours Per Week" Join the Grow Your Video Business Facebook Group  Follow Ryan Koral on Instagram Follow Grow Your Video Business on Instagram Check out the full show notes

COME FROM AWAY — The Most Produced Play of the Year, part 2

    BROADWAY NATION

This is the second part of this Encore Episode from 2021 featuring a conversation with Irene Sankoff & David Hein — the dynamic writing team and married couple that created the international smash hit musical Come From Away which recently topped American Theatre magazine's list of the most produced plays in America in 2025/26. On the previous episode Irene and David related how they got hooked on musicals, and how they went from their first show based on a true story — My Mother's Lesbian Jewish Wiccan Wedding — to deciding to create a musical based on the real life events that happened in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland in the days following 9/11. They also described what it was like to attend the 10th Anniversary of the events in Gander and then begin to transform the stories they heard there into a musical during an early workshop production at The Canadian Music Theatre Project at Sheridan College. We also explored the classic Broadway shows that influenced and inspired the writing of their book, music, and lyrics for Come From Away. If you missed part one you may want to go back and catch up on that episode before you listen to this one. Today we look at the extensive development process that CFA went through on its journey to Broadway — including a workshop in Seattle, a series of productions at the La Jolla Playhouse, The Seattle Rep, Ford's Theater in DC. and the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto, as well as a thrilling concert presentation in Gander where it all began.  Back in 2015, I served as the Executive Producer and Artistic Director of The 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle and, as such, I had the great pleasure of co-producing that original Seattle workshop of Come From Away. This was the first time that the show's Tony award winning director Christopher Ashley and choreographer, Kelly Devine began to work on the show — and it was great fun to recall that exciting experience with Irene and David. Come From Away is the fifth musical to originate in Canada and eventually open on Broadway.  The first was 1974's Rockabye Hamlet with book, music and lyrics by Cliff Jones. This rock musical adaptation of Shakespeare was originally titled Kronborg 1582 and was well received, first as a radio series on the CBC, and then at the Charlottetown Theatre Festival and on tour in Canada, before being retitled and opening on Broadway with Gower Champion as the director. It became a legendary flop and closed after 7 performances. Next, in 1980 came the intimate and engaging Billy Bishop Goes To War written by John McLachlan Gray the show featured one actor to playing18 different roles to tell the story of real life Canadian fighter pilot Billy Bishop during the first World War. This show nearly doubled the run of Rockabye Hamlet closing after 12 performances. However, over the next ten years Billy Bishop Goes To War received scores of productions at theaters all across North America.  The Story Of My Life, with music and lyrics by Neil Bartram and book by Brian Hill, opened on Broadway in 2009. Unfortunately, it had an even shorter run than either of the previous two Canadian shows. However, one year earlier, a group of Canadian writers finally scored a significant hit with The Drowsy Chaperone – book by Bob Martin and Don McKellar, and music and lyrics by Lisa Lambert & Greg Morrison. This delightful show opened on Broadway in 2008, received Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Original Score, and ran for 674 performances.   There have been a few other Canadian writers that found success on Broadway – Galt McDermott being the most famous of them – but that was with shows that originated in the US. There are two main Spiritualist Camps in America dating back to the Victorian Era: Lilydale in New York and Cassadaga in Florida. We've visited Cassadaga several times, which is known as the Psychic Capital of the World. Almost as often as St. Augustine, and like St. Augustine, Cassadaga oozes spiritual energy. While some people might think that Spiritualism was just a craze during the Victorian Era, it is a real religion that still exists today and is recognized by the military as a standard religion. There are around 13 million practicing Spiritualists in the world today. Many of them still live in Cassadaga and there seems to be many spirits in this small town, not only of the Spiritualists who have already transitioned, but perhaps of the many spirits called to the town. Join us for the history and hauntings of the Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp. The Moment in Oddity features the Lung Tree. The president's 20-point proposaloutlines a series of actions to end the war between Israel and Hamas — including Hamas's release of 48 hostages in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners imprisoned by Israel — as well as a demilitarization plan, rebuilding framework, and governance structure for Gaza after the war. Prime Minister Netanyahu has endorsed the plan (though Israel has not officially accepted it), while Hamas has asked for more time to review its provisions. Lawyer Paula Gerber on the human rights of the most endangered group of people in any community - its children. They are open to the most predatory forms of exploitation simply because they don't have the worldliness of adults, and must rely on trust and goodwill. When Paula Gerber was growing up in suburban Brisbane, she didn't spend her weekends at the pool or playing cricket with her dad.Quality time with her father meant visiting his clients with him in the local jail or mental institution. Her dad was a criminal lawyer, and Paula tagged along to many of his meetings watching him empathise with people, coming up with defences that worked, sometimes because his client were innocent, and sometimes because he knew the law like the back of his hand, and could do some creative arguing around technicalities.Paula wanted nothing else but to follow in the footsteps of her father. She began her career in construction law, but after a motorbike accident, she needed a change, and turned her thoughts to how to help more people with her law degree.Paula began to specialise in human rights, specifically the rights of children.Sex, Gender & Identity: Trans Rights in Australia is published by Monash University Publishing. This episode of Conversations was produced by Meggie Morris. At least four people were killed and eight others wounded, and the suspect was killed by law enforcement responding to the scene. Grand Blanc police confirmedMonday afternoon that all churchgoers had been accounted for, and it does not expect to find more victims. Officials have not identified a possible motive for the attack, but local reports and interviews have suggested that the suspect — a 40-year-old former Marine — harbored ill will toward the Church.
