Oh, and of course, Melissa waxes lyrical about Peter Paige again. We get it, Melissa. You love him. #SaveStation19 #DoNotCancelStation19

Peter Paige is an American actor, director, and screenwriter. He is best known for his portrayal of Emmet Honeycutt in the gay drama Queer as Folk. His debut as a director and writer was on the film Say Uncle. Topics: Peter's path to acting which led to his path as a writer/director; his experience acting on Queer As Folk--how that hurt and helped what came after; being a queer actor in Hollywood (in the 90s). The first part of the show was about creativity, the entertainment industry, and what's involved when pursuing a career in the arts. The second half we talked politics, and activism. It's Pride month and what better to kick it off than talking one of me and Mikey's favorite shows from our high school days, Queer as Folk! While this is the US version that premiered on Showtime, we had never seen anything like this and that's possibly why it has stayed with us over 20 years later. This is based on the UK series which was much shorter, however this version has some incredible characters that you just can't help but fall in love with. For a trip down memory lane we are discussing only the pilot episode and keep it spoiler free for those who haven't seen it before. We talk our introduction to the show, my stories of traveling to Best Buy to get the box set every season, the incredible soundtracks that are missing from the streaming versions, those steamy sex scenes, and get into what hasn't aged well over the years.--- Get BONUS episodes on 90s TV and culture (Freaks & Geeks, My So Called Life, Buffy, 90s culture documentaries, and more...) and to support the show join the Patreon! Retired agent Neil Herman and retired NYPD Detective/Lt. Kevin Hallinan review the three-year crime spree in the New York metropolitan area that culminated on October 20, 1981, when 11 members of the Weather Underground, a radical domestic terrorist group, carried out a Brink's armored car robbery at the Nanuet Mall in Nyack, New York. Using high-powered weapons, the terrorist group stole 1.6 million dollars, and shot and killed bank security guard Peter Paige. During their getaway, they also shot and killed Nyack Police Department Sgt. Edward J. O'Grady, Jr. and Police Officer Waverly "Chipper" Brown. This case, code-named NYROB, was the first major investigation of the FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force after it was formed in 1980 to investigate the growing number of terrorist acts targeting New York. Neil and Kevin also discuss modern terrorism and the early days of the multi-agency FBI-NYPD Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) partnership, the first in the county. Their messages to active agents and law enforcement are truly inspirational. Brian and Justin keep barreling towards marriage even as Justin’s career as a painter awaits him in New York. Melanie and Lindsay ask for Brian and Michael’s blessing to take their children out of the country, with Michael agreeing, but Brian disagreeing and then finally agreeing after some pressure from Lindsay. Drew and Emmett break up after Emmett realizes that Drew needs to fuck around for a while before he will be capable of having a relationship. We meet Ted’s new boyfriend Tad, who immediately starts calling the shots in the relationship. “Mr Right (Never Broke and Promise) was directed by John Fawcett, his last of three episodes. His first was season 2’s “The Dangers of Sex and Drugs” where Justin becomes a gogo-boy at Babylon and Emmett and George Shickle start their world tour. Loved that episode, and not just because we got a scene of Justin in briefs. It first aired in the US on July 31st, 2005. It was written by Michael MacLennan, his last of 13 episodes. He wrote two episodes of Peter Paige’s show, The Fosters in season 3.
Brian’s midlife crisis reaches a head when he wins his bet with Brandon, but opts not to collect his reward. Drew Boyd is outed in a tabloid and turns to Emmett for advice. When the paparazzi track him down, he hides out in Emmett’s bedroom. Ben continues to stress over Hunter’s departure and clashes with Michael as he begins giving away Hunter’s possessions. Lindsay and Melanie begin their home-separation with mixed results, and Justin confronts his father over his supporting the anti-gay initiative Proposition 14 and ends up being arrested. It first aired in the US on July 3rd, 2005 and was written by Michael MacLennan, his 13th of 14 episodes. He would later go on to write two episodes of Peter Paige’s show, The Fosters. “Honest to Yourself” was directed by Kevin Inch, his 8th of 8 episodes. He directed one of our favorite episodes, of course from Season 1, “Ted’s not Dead”

Actor Michelle Clunie talks with Emmy Winner Charlotte Robinson host of OUTTAKE VOICES™ about the “Queer As Folk” virtual 20th anniversary cast and crew reunion that takes place Friday May 1st at 11A PST/2P EST on YouTube. This must-attend livestream event is a fundraiser for CenterLink and its network of over 250 LGBTQ community centers. It’s hard to believe it was 20 years ago when we first entered the hallowed club Babylon and met Michael, Ben, Ted, Emmett, Melanie and the whole “Queer As Folk” gang. This Friday May 1st they’re back – better than ever - to celebrate the reunion of cast, crew, writers, directors and guest stars to raise awareness of the need to support LGBTQ centers all over the world. Scott Lowell (Ted) will host members of the “Queer As Folk” cast and crew including Clunie, Sharon Gless, Peter Paige, Hal Sparks, Randy Harrison and Robert Gant. Guest actors from your favorite episodes will also be joining as well as “Queer As Folk” creator executive producers Ron Cowen and Dan Lipman and more. During this pandemic LGBTQ community centers have continued to serve their communities providing vital often life-saving services such as medical care, mental health counseling, virtual support groups, filling prescriptions, providing hot meals and check-in phone calls for older adults. They are also serving as shelters for homeless youth, distributing nonperishable food items and hygiene products, case management, HIV testing and hosting virtual engagement activities to decrease social isolation. With cancelled galas, Pride events, fundraisers, etc. our LGBTQ community centers could be forced to shrink services, resulting in thousands of LGBTQ people going without care. We talked to Michelle about what she hopes to accomplish with this livestream fundraising event and her spin on our LGBTQ issues. Actor Michelle Clunie is best known for her role as Melanie Marcus on the Showtime groundbreaking hit show “Queer As Folk”. She is a fierce LGBTQ activist and is currently raising her son Dashiell. The livestream “Queer As Folk” Virtual Reunion will give fans an opportunity to chat live with their favorite stars and bid on “Queer As Folk” memorabilia with all proceeds supporting CenterLink. Serving over 250 LGBTQ community centers across the country in 45 states, Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia as well as centers in Canada, China and Australia, CenterLink assists newly forming community centers and helps strengthen existing LGBTQ centers through networking opportunities for center leaders, peer-based technical assistance and training and more. During this challenging time we hope you will tune in for this fabulous May Day Home Stay event Friday May 1st at 11A PST/2P EST on YouTube and please Stay Safe and Healthy. For More Info: CenterLink.org LISTEN: 500+ LGBTQ Chats @OUTTAKE VOICES

Steve Chazaro returns as guest co-ho, and the glorious Peter Paige ("Queer as Folk") joins us to talk about his new gay rom-com, "The Thing About Harry"... as well as the time he used whipped cream during sex. Speaking of which, a fake doctor warns against banana peel masturbation, and one horny tortoise repopulates the Galapagos Islands. Visit www.adamsank.com.
After making a name for himself starring as Emmett in the groundbreaking television series, Queer As Folk, Peter Paige moved his talents behind the camera. Two of the series he co-created, The Fosters and Good Trouble, both on Freeform, set the gold standard for queer and trans representation on TV. With The Thing About Harry, Paige continues that winning streak. On top of writing, directing, and executive producing the new film, Paige also plays the roommate of Jake Borelli (Grey's Anatomy), supplying him with the "earnest, loving, pep-talk" he needs to ultimately make sure the movie has a happy ending. Peter, as well as Jake, and co-star Niko Terho, join us to talk about the groundbreaking film, the network's response to its steamy sex scene, and how Peter convinced Grey's Anatomy to write Jake off the show for three weeks in order to shoot The Thing About Harry. LGBTQ&A is hosted and produced by Jeffrey Masters. @jeffmasters1
Showrunner/director/actor Peter Paige joins Matt and Dave to talk getting started with high school theater, nearly landing the role of Jack on Will & Grace, and jumping on the hit series Queer as Folk. Plus, taking a year off from dating, top rom-coms, looking for love in your 40s, and the thrill of casting amazingly talented leads for his new film The Thing About Harry.
Parasite is triumphant at an otherwise predictable Oscars. Jessica Simpson's memoir invites a re-examination of her career. Gayle King is under attack from Kobe fans. Plus, Peter Paige joins to discuss the legacy of Queer as Folk and creating queer content for Freeform.

Wisdom, inspiration, and guidance from actor, writer, director, producer, Peter Paige, who chartered his course and did the work to live his dreams… even a few he didn’t realize he had. Growing up always moving, and starting over, he became a keen observer of human behavior. Finding his way in drama club, conservatory at Boston University, regional theatre, always doing the work, his best, securing his future and his next step forward. Using his fears to drive himself, there were signs from the universe that he was on course. Landing his first TV role on Suddenly Susan, from his first audition. From activist to actorvist, besting Billy Porter and many others to land the role of Emmett in Queer as Folk, groundbreaking television and a career making star turn. He didn’t get the role of Jack on Will & Grace but did land a guest appearance on the show, and later lost a few gigs for being “too much like Jack.” From actor to writer/director to Showrunner, Peter went on to co-create The Fosters, and currently, Good Trouble. Where the ideas were sparked, and which of his hats speaks loudest to his heart. Great storytelling from a great storyteller. Watch for the wisdom. Stay for the fun. On the eight Monday Mocha show, we still continue in Hollywood and chat to someone who has left a heart print on my journey. I first caught a glimpse of him on Showtime's Hit Series, "Queer As Folk," where he played the character Emmett Honeycutt. From there, Peter Paige has gone on to be one of the creators and writer's for the ABC's hit show, The Fosters. One of the many many things I love about Peter is the fact that he always makes time to connect with you. A lot of people reach out to him about the art he creates and how it has impacted their lives - I was one of those people and am better for it. A very special Monday Mocha. "Connection is more important than ever at this moment in time. Despite the fact that we are tapped into the internet, in some ways we are less connected. It's important for me to share a meaningful moment with someone." Dennis visits the production office of the ABC Family hit "The Fosters" on the Warner Bros. lot to talk to one of the creators of the show, Peter Paige. Peter talks about the inspiration for the show, how he met his producing partner Brad Bredeweg, how they got J Lo on board as Executive Producer, the gay prom episode he's so proud of and the outcry that erupted over the kiss between two 13 year-old gay characters on the show. Peter also shares memories from his time playing Emmett Honeycutt on Showtime's "Queer as Folk," which is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. He recalls being mobbed by fans at a cast DVD signing after Season 1, the lessions he learned from playing an unapologetically effiminate character and the dude he met in a steam room who hit on him shamelessly then, after discovering he was on the show, proceeded to totally trash it in front of him. Other topics include: the time Peter got startruck by Meryl Streep, nighmare auditions, his childhood obsession with a certain Cassidy and what's gotten him through the ups and downs of Hollywood.
Peter Paige became well known as his brilliant and hilarious performance as Emmett Honeycutt on Showtime's ground breaking series, "Queer as Folk," from 2000-2005. He current is the Creator and Executive Producer of ABC Family's "The Fosters." Peter joins us to look back on Queer as Folk as we continue to celebrate the show with having the cast on our show but also talk about The Fosters and what's next for him!
