His innovative use of a ProFab drop box helped redefine rock-bouncer drivetrain design.The conversation follows Tim's transition from wild hill climbs to competitive racing. After experiencing Ultra4 suspension technology firsthand with Randy Slawson, Tim embraced bypass shocks, trailing arms, and increased wheel travel. His redesigned buggies helped him win multiple consecutive championships and influenced the direction of rock-bouncing competition.Tim also recalls his 2015 King of the Hammers debut, where he and co-pilot Cole Shirley finished 11th despite fuel-system problems.After racing more than 40 weekends a year, Tim recognized burnout and took time away from competition. During that break, he discovered dirt late-model racing and began mastering an entirely different discipline.Today, Tim continues competing in rock bouncing while developing his dirt-track career. Richard Jeni had the highest-rated Showtime special in the channel's history, more Tonight Show appearances than any standup of his era, a Carson panel seat he earned rather than received, a Clio Award for commercials, Oscar writing credits for Chris Rock's hosting gig, and a fifty-seventh spot on Comedy Central's greatest standup list — a list he helped build as a panelist. He died in 2007 at forty-nine. His family was specific about what happened: he had a diagnosis, he was ill, and that illness was not the explanation for the comedy. It is an honor to welcome two-time Emmy-winning actor and producer Mike Manning back to the Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast.  Television audiences first met Mike when he joined the cast of MTV's legendary Reality TV series, The Real World: D.C. After completing filming, he dove into the entertainment industry. He appeared on Crash & Bernstein, Hawaii Five-0, Major Crimes, Teen Wolf, The Haves and Have Nots, and This Is Us.  Mike also started Mannifest Productions to connect audiences with entertainment that matters by developing and producing films, TV, and new media projects that aim not only to change the world but also to open hearts and minds through art. He began his producing career with the documentary Kidnapped for Christ alongside Tom DeSanto. The film won several awards before being shown on Showtime and was responsible for legislation in California and other states to protect children from abuse at “camps for troubled youth.”   He also produced Jinn, Son of the South, M.F.A., and Folk Hero & Funny Guy.  His documentary about homeless youth, Lost in America, starred Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry, Grammy-winning songstress Jewel, Rosario Dawson, and Tiffany Haddish. Meanwhile, The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson, directed by Oscar-nominated David France, was released as a Netflix Original after premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival.  Outside of the entertainment industry, Mike works with nonprofits that advocate for the poor, the environment, and equal rights. In 2010, Mike Manning lobbied Congress in Washington, D.C., on behalf of the Human Rights Campaign. Since then, he has received proclamations from the New York City Council in recognition of his cause-related work.  Recently, Mike celebrated his one-year anniversary portraying Bradley “Smitty” Smith on CBS and Paramount+'s groundbreaking soap opera Beyond the Gates. What if the most important thing you'll ever know about yourself has never actually been said out loud? Not because you're hiding it. Because somewhere along the way you built a fortress around it, and the fortress has no windows. Today's guest understands that fortress from the inside. At 19 years old, a week after his birthday, Aaron Bethune stood 200 meters from the summit of Aconcagua, one of the world's Seven Summits. He turned back. Not because he could not make it. Because he realized he had never once visualized the descent. On the way back down, alone, he found an Everest veteran named Mike lying in the snow, lost and frostbitten, meters from a three- thousand-meter drop. Aaron gave him his food and water and carried him down. He has never seen Mike since. He has been looking for him for twenty-six years.  Aaron Bethune is the founder of We Write Stories, author of Musicpreneur (now used as a university textbook), and a musician since age four who has worked with Showtime, Spotify, MTV, and the Grammys. He led a project for the Gwich'in First Nations to help protect the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
