Send us a textOn Sunday night, I found myself in Golden Gate Park, surrounded by 60,000 fans swaying to “Shakedown Street” and “ Scarlett Begonias” at Dead and Company's 3 Day Festival celebrating the 60th anniversary of The Grateful Dead. It wasn't just a concert, it was a living, breathing ecosystem built over decades. In this episode, I break down what makes the Grateful Dead's community so unique — from Shakedown Street flea markets to setlists that never repeat, and how their organic growth holds lessons for us as content creators. We'll talk about why you can't engineer content that hits the mark, how to nurture an audience once it starts forming, and why authenticity always outlasts trends. If you've been trying to grow your own tribe, this one's for you. What you'll learn in this episode:How the Grateful Dead built a loyal, self-sustaining fan cultureThe role of surprise, improvisation, and authenticity in keeping audiences engagedWhy you can't “growth hack” your way to a real communityHow to notice and feed audience behaviors when they start to emergeWhy sustainable growth starts with creating what you loveResources & Links:Try Riverside.fm's new Co-Creator feature — get 20% off any individual plan with code CLIPPED at riverside.fmFollow me on YouTube: @podcasthaven - The page is growing!More tips, tools, and resources: The Podcast HavenPlan, Name, and Equip Your Show — All in One Place

Join TSL Workshops: https://tslworkshops.circle.so Apple TV+'s THE STUDIO is both a razor-sharp satire and a surprisingly heartfelt love letter to Hollywood — born out of Seth Rogen's own frustrations and empathy for studio executives. For co-creator Frida Perez, the show explores the spectrum between art and commerce, a balance that serves as a guiding principle for writing its hilariously flawed (but deeply human) characters. In this episode, Frida unpacks how the team crafted one of the year's most acclaimed shows — and how she found her voice in the process. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

In this episode I'm joined by author and American wine icon, Karen MacNeil. We discuss her amazing career trajectory in wine from food stamps to international fame, and her new initiative, Come Over October, which is having enormous success in encouraging people to get together over a bottle of wine! Karen is one of the foremost wine experts in the United States. She's the author of the award-winning book, "The Wine Bible," which has been recognized as "the most comprehensive and authoritative book on wine written by an American author." Karen is the only American to have won every major wine award given in the English language -- the James Beard award for Wine and Spirits Professional of the Year, the Louis Roederer award for Best Consumer Wine Writing, and the International Wine and Spirits award as the Global Wine Communicator of the Year. Recently, Karen teamed up with public relations and communications veterans Gino Colangelo and Kimberly Charles (the three are pictured above) to begin a program called Come Over October. Troubled by the disconnect in society due to the faster pace of life and the dominance of technology, these three saw a role for wine. They created Come Over October to encourage friends, family, and colleagues to “come over” during the month of October and share some wine and a personal connection. The show is mainly about Karen's road to success, and then we wrap with the concept of Come Over October , which I fully support! Full show notes and all back episodes are on Patreon. In this episode, host Sandra Abrams chats with three WIFV members about their independent feature film, THE OTHER YOU, and how the movie went from an idea during the pandemic to its premiere during the DC Independent Film Festival in March 2025. The surreal comedy sheds light on how a wife and mother tries to find time to work on her writing when a portal in her closet shows her another version of her life. Will she stay or will she go? Director Shoshana Rosenbaum and writer Julie Gold share how they got funding, and producer Robin Noonan-Price tells how she switched gears to get the film made on time when a storm almost derailed the production. Robin, who is a past president of WIFV, also answers questions on being named one of WIFV's 2025 Women of Vision honorees. Congratulations to Robin!
