I got to spend an hour with the Head Cheese at Nat’s. Very generously he sat with me and I had a wonderful time listening to his story. Thanks Nat! Before you do the same with this podcast, go grab a Cheese Slice. It’s simply the best combo of dough, tomato and cheese. Hold it with your index finger, third finger and thumb and kind of fold it, crimp-like, while standing. No utensils required. You might need a napkin or two! Check out the chalk art all over Nat’s walls. Eat + repeat. Enjoy!Find Nat at www.natspizza.comFind Glo @glosays on Instagram or https://glosays.buzzsprout.com

Well, Now What?!
47. An honest convo about disordered eating, body neutrality, PCOS, and weight gain with Nat Kunz

Well, Now What?!

The new year is finally here, and along with it often comes the onslaught of messaging that you should work out harder, eat differently, and make yourself smaller in 2021. You know the drill: new year, new you. But why does it feel like that messaging applies exclusively to weight and size? To be clear, wanting to work out or eat more vegetables are not bad resolutions. They're just not the only resolutions that you can make going into 2021. Your body, you know, the one that just got you through a traumatic and unprecedented nine months, deserves to spend the next 12 doing what makes it feel good: inside and out. So, what better way to start off the new year than with an honest conversation about the struggles and realities of disordered eating with my lovely friend, Nat Kunz. Nat and I danced together in high school and she is currently a fitness instructor. Last year, I opened up about my own struggles with disordered eating, and even though it was extremely terrifying to open up about it publicly, I'm so glad I did it because so many others have reached out to me, telling me they've gone through it themselves or have seen a loved one go through it. It can be daunting to share something so personal, but the best way to face those fears is the talk about it because chances are, someone else has gone through the same thing. I'm so glad Nat reached out to me and I'm so proud of her for talking about her experience with disordered eating so openly. Today, we talk about her journey struggling with disordered eating in high school and as a young adult, how she learned to love and accept her body, the positives of weight gain, PCOS and period troubles, and any advice she has for others going through it. Please note: we are NOT medical professionals by any means, so if you require any medical attention or advice, please ask your doctor. :) I really hope you enjoy this one! Find Nat @natkunz on IG.

In this episode I chat to Dr Nat Kringoudis, doctor of Chinese medicine, Acupuncturist, Author, Speaker and all-round natural fertility expert. She's also the founder of Melbourne women's health clinic, The Pagoda Tree, where her powerful fusion of Western and Chinese medicine, has helped thousands of women change the way they think about their health. Nat is also the creator of Yo'Nuts and producer of HealthTalks TV. And bonus, I get to call her my friend - someone that has been there for me since the start of our fertility journey. Her latest book, Beautiful You shows you how your hormones affect sexuality, physical health and appearance and mental wellbeing. Your body is talking ... It's time to listen! This is Nat's latest (and very important) take home message and it's a reminder to take back our power and accept the responsibility to get to know our bodies lies with us - not our doctor. She opens up the discussion on understanding your own body, balancing hormones and sexual empowerment. PLUS you can learn how to make your hormones happier than a Pharrell Williams song! In this episode we talk about: (08:40) why quick-fix pills spell disaster for your long term health (11:11) what your acne is telling you (16:30) why periods should NOT be painful and what to do if they are (21:50) what I attribute my success with IVF to and how Nat has supported her son's cystic fibrosis that has left the professionals gob smacked - mindset (28:15) why it's so important to be up front with your children about sex (34:41) why we need to teach teens about more then just preventing pregnancy (40:50) how health conditions that you may be facing now are a direct result of how you have lead your life so far - and what you can do from this point on (42:40) why it's not all doom and gloom for women with endometriosis and PCOS + a whole lot more! Comedian Nat Baimel is on the couch this week, talking all about growing up in south Florida as an indoor kid with a reputation for making people uncomfortable and being more "weird" than funny. His love of pro-wrestling handed down from his grandfathers as well as his father who he lost when he was just 3 old. The flashes of memories he has of him and what it's like to have an "idea of a dad" as well as how people telling him he would see his father in heaven led him towards being a religious kid despite not being a part of a very religious family. He also shares stories of how his mother upstaged him at a show early in his career, why he started as a "guitar comic," and how one single Jewish mother guilting changed his attitude forever.
