This week we have a story that starts with a rising golf star and ends with the headline "The Radium Water Worked Fine Until His Jaw Came Off". There's some bits in the middle, mostly about how humans had absolutely no idea what they were doing with medicine, even as late as the 1920's. We're back after a monthlong moving-induced break! Back for the biggest grandest bestest famousest silent film in history! This will also be our first video episode, where you can watch along while we talk! Handy. You can watch the Youtube version here, which you should because I worked very hard on it. If you'd prefer the musical accompaniment, you can check out the full playlist of films discussed here as always. --- The Terrible Americans ---Jack and the BeanstalkUncle Josh at the Moving Picture ShowThe Boys Think They Have One on Foxy Grandpa, but He Fools ThemFoxy Grandpa and Polly in a Little HilarityThe 20th Century Tramp; or Happy Hooligan and his Airship --- The Oft-Ripped-Oft Europeans ---Conquering the Air / A la Conquête de l’Air (1901)The Little Match SellerAlcohol and Its VictimsAli Baba and the Forty ThievesMidwife to the Upper ClassAlfred Raymond, Agnes May, & Wilfred Sydney --- The MVP, The Main Man Himself ---An Impossible Balancing FeatThe Human FlyEruption of Mount PeleFerdinand Zecca's version, Catastrophe de la MartiniqueGulliver’s Travels Among the Lilliputians and the GiantsRobinson Crusoe --- LA VOYAGE ---A Trip to the Moon (though I'd recommend going and renting a high quality version) Thanks for listening! This jam goes into a bit of my history (or lack thereof) with Astrology and my recent experiences with Saturn. It is not a super in-depth astrological dissertation. I'm just sharing little tidbits of what I picked up from this dude so far on this journey, plus a little collective tarot pull. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/naa-dodua-ankrah/support
“Piccio, Puccio e Nonno Meo”.
Episode 117 is about a 1985 vampire movie that has some laughs as well as some scares. Times were different, so one might wonder how the comedy and the horror hold up. Your hosts will get into that after discussing some other things. For example, Jolyon celebrates Frankenstein’s 200th birthday with a great book. Will watched a movie aptly described as “What if a Canadian Ed Wood made Star Wars?”. He’ll explain the glorious results! Richard watched a documentary about career and hobbyist haunters, some of whom have mentally and physically abusive haunted attractions. Don’t worry, they don’t do anything as bad as making you watch the Nicolas Cage remake of “The Wicker Man” (2006), with or without bees. Then, on to “Fright Night” (1985). Your hosts reflect on hazy memories of early viewings. Will and Richard have differing opinions of the "Evil Ed" character. Will figures him to be the “Foxy Grandpa” character of this one and Richard just thinks he’s the best part of the whole movie. Jolyon truly likes Peter Vincent, like any reasonable horror fan should! Do you like cinematic breast facts? We got ‘em! Did Roddy McDowall rub ice on his nipples before each take? You’ll find out! So, grab a femur and start fighting off that bat puppet, but try not to break it! That’ll cost a couple of days of shooting! Episode 101 is about a movie that one host called “the mainstream idea of cool”. It didn’t entirely "respect the vampire mythos". It had a “Foxy Grandpa” in it. There was an “Oily Sax Man” and a lot of mullets. It was “The Lost Boys” (1987). Before leaping from the train trestle and into the movie, your hosts journey into Jolyon’s 1 1/2 Star Movie Marathon (not exactly a deliberate thing) and some other recently watched movies from Will and Richard. Next, your hosts give some distinctions and awards to movies from the first 100 episodes of the podcast. There are truly some gems here! Then, at long last- “The Lost Boys”. Will couldn’t hide from it forever! Foxy Grandpa had a score to settle, and a re-watch was the only way! Is this why Will’s wife found him with the thousand yard stare? Was it worth the rental price? Had his place of work burned down, taking Sad Sack #219 with it? Listen and find out! So, pass the Windex™, because on a scale from Chaka to Chewbacca, this episode is a monster! #horror #horrormovies #horrornerd #horroraddict #horrorjunkie #monsterkid #bmovie #scarymovies #monstermovie #podcast #chewingthescenery #zombies #VHS #moviemonsters #freepodcast #denver #colorado #creaturefeature #creaturefeatures #indiefilms #indiehorror #thelostboys #lostboys #kiefersutherland #coreyhaim #coreyfeldman #jasonpatric #itcamefromthe80s #halloween #vampires
