You HAVE to see this — Karmelo Anthony sobbing in court after being sentenced to 35 years in prison for the cold-blooded murder of Austin Metcalf at a Texas high school track meet. Pat Gray breaks down the shocking verdict, the victim's family's powerful statements, and the hate-filled racial protests that erupted outside the courthouse as Anthony's supporters screamed “Free Karmelo!” and called the entire trial racist. This wasn't self-defense. Anthony was asked to move 15 times, warned Metcalf “touch me and find out,” then stabbed the 17-year-old peacemaker straight in the chest. The jury saw through the excuses, rejected the “sudden passion” defense, and delivered real justice in one of Texas' most conservative counties. We also cover: SPLC president defends Graham Platner? HUGE WIN for the America First movement! President Trump just delivered another decisive blow to the Washington establishment, as Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton crushed RINO Senator John Cornyn in a massive 27-point landslide. Paxton destroyed Cornyn 64% to 36% in the Texas Republican Senate primary runoff — proving once again that Trump's endorsement is unstoppable and the Republican base is demanding real fighters, not career politicians. This runoff victory further proves that President Trump remains the most powerful force in Republican politics. While Washington insiders and moderate Republicans warned against backing Paxton, the voters of Texas overwhelmingly chose the fighter who stood with Trump over the longtime establishment senator. In this episode of Recover to Flourish, I'm talking about an eating disorder behaviour that is rarely spoken about openly: chewing and spitting. This is something that can bring a huge amount of shame, secrecy, and isolation, yet so many people struggle with it behind closed doors.I explore what chewing and spitting actually is, why it can become so addictive and compulsive, the physical and psychological impact it can have, and why it often keeps people stuck in the eating disorder cycle. I also talk honestly about the emotions underneath the behaviour, the role of restriction, and what recovery can look like if this is something you're dealing with.If you've ever felt alone in this behaviour, I hope this episode helps you feel seen and understood.Let me know your thoughts! The most expensive House primary race in American history just delivered a massive victory for President Trump. In Kentucky's 4th Congressional District, Trump-backed Navy SEAL and combat veteran Ed Gallrein has defeated longtime Republican incumbent Thomas Massie after a brutal, record-shattering primary battle that saw over $32 million poured into attack ads and campaign spending. This race became a referendum on loyalty to President Trump and America First priorities. Massie, known for bucking the party on key votes including spending bills and foreign aid, faced an all-out assault from Trump allies, pro-Israel groups, and MAGA super PACs determined to remove one of the last remaining thorns in Trump's side. Addressing the potential training and developmental shortfalls of a side pull vs a bit. Many riders believe that encouraging horses to chew on bits is essential for their well-being. But what if a quiet mouth — rather than constant chewing — signals true comfort and softness? In this short episode, renowned trainer Mark Langley busts the myth that chewing is good for health. He unpacks the real connection between the horse's jaw, the TMJ, and emotional tension, revealing why a relaxed jaw doesn't necessarily mean the horse is actively chewing. President Donald Trump just went full alpha on a reporter who tried to gotcha him over the new White House ballroom project.During a press event, reporter Akayla Gardner questioned the rising costs of the massive new ballroom. In this episode of Chewing It Over, Jack speaks with Nick Ilic about shockwave therapy, clinical uncertainty, and the problem with taking overly confident positions in MSK practice.Nick argues that shockwave is only really “shocking” when clinicians either oversell it as a powerful long-term solution or dismiss it entirely without proper consideration. Much of the conversation sits deliberately in the middle ground: shockwave may have a role, but the evidence does not support grand claims across broad MSK conditions. The discussion explores the tension between proposed mechanisms and clinical outcomes. Shockwave is often described as creating a pro-inflammatory or mechanotransductive stimulus, potentially “restarting” a repair process in chronic tissue. However, Nick is cautious about mechanistic certainty, noting that many MSK interventions have attractive theoretical explanations that become far less convincing when tested rigorously. They also discuss how shockwave may simply act as another form of neuromodulation, particularly when outcomes appear similar between focused and radial approaches, or when benefits are mainly short term. Nick is especially critical of “condition creep,” where a modality gradually becomes marketed for more and more problems despite limited supporting evidence.Importantly, he does not dismiss shockwave altogether. He acknowledges stronger evidence for indications such as calcific tendinopathy and non-union fractures, where the mechanism and evidence appear more plausible. But for common tendinopathies and broader pain presentations, he remains sceptical of inflated claims, especially when patients are paying privately.Overall, this is a funny, sharp, and thoughtful conversation about evidence, uncertainty, informed consent, and why clinicians should be wary of both hype and lazy scepticism.5 clinical/professional takeawaysAvoid overconfidence in either direction. Shockwave should not be sold as a miracle treatment, but dismissing it completely may also be too simplistic.Mechanistic plausibility is not enough. Claims about pro-inflammatory effects, mechanotransduction, or tissue “restart” need to be matched by meaningful clinical outcomes.Context matters. Shockwave may be more defensible in areas like calcific tendinopathy or non-union fractures than in broad tendinopathy or general pain presentations.Short-term pain relief is not the same as recovery. Clinicians should be careful not to confuse temporary neuromodulation with long-term tissue change.Consent and expectation-setting are crucial. If patients are paying privately, they deserve a clear explanation of likely benefits, uncertainty, cost, and alternative options.
Today, I explore food rituals in eating disorders. These are often safety behaviours and can include things like: - A list of common food rituals (not limited to this) Cutting food into teeny, tiny pieces and taking extremely small bites. Eating food types in a very specific order, with no food combining. Rearranging food items on the plate, so they do not touch. Tearing food apart and eating the different components. Chewing food for a specific number of bites. Meticulous weighing, measuring and calorie counting of every morsel. Eating at precise mealtimes, as the clock strikes the hour. Not one second before or after. Hiding food or throwing it away. Excessive seasoning of food or using bizarre concoctions of sauces. Drinking volumes of fluid before, during and after eating. Eating on child size plates and using little cutlery. Engaging in activity rituals to burn calories before or after eating. Having to clean the kitchen or visit the bathroom before eating, doing things in the ‘right' order. Buying quantities of food to feel safety in its presence but never eating it, rather filling the cupboards to overflow and hoarding. I talk about different types of food rituals and how to change your relationship with them. I hope that you find it helpful.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio stepped up to the White House podium as acting press secretary and delivered a crystal-clear message to the Iranian regime. In a fiery briefing, Rubio laid out Iran's only two paths forward: Take the diplomatic off-ramp offered by President Trump and choose reconstruction, prosperity, and stability — or face "growing isolation, economic collapse, and, ultimately, total defeat." This comes as tensions remain high over control of the Strait of Hormuz, with energy prices spiking after Iran's disruptive actions. Rubio made it clear that the U.S. is not seeking war but will respond decisively if provoked. We also cover: Gas prices continue to RISE around the U.S. Who will be the GOP 2028 candidate? President Trump brings back the Presidential Fitness Test. Do you remember Dr. Anthony Fauci? JD Vance visits Iowa. This week on Panel Chewing, Steve and Jarrod dive into another round of weekly comic reads—with a candid conversation to kick things off about something most podcasts don't always say out loud: we pay for every book we review. No review copies, no publisher influence—just honest takes from readers spending their own money each week. That reality shapes what we stick with, what we drop, and why our pull list leans heavily into indie books that actually earn their place. From there, it's business as usual—breaking down this week's comics, debating what's worth your time (and your wallet), and crowning our Pick of the Week.We also wrap up our ongoing group read of Grant Morrison's Batman and share final thoughts on the run—what worked, what didn't, and whether it lives up to its reputation.

In this episode of Chewing It Over, Jack speaks with Wesley Clark Sullivan about Medimo, a marketplace designed to make private MSK care easier to find and book. The central idea is simple: in most sectors, people are used to consumer-friendly platforms like Booking.com, Uber, or Deliveroo, yet private healthcare still often relies on clunky directories, fragmented websites, and high-friction booking journeys.Wesley explains that the idea emerged from his background in marketing and e-commerce, combined with insight from private insurance pathways where even approved patients often fail to complete the final step of actually booking care. That gap led him to spot a wider opportunity: a marketplace that helps patients search by postcode, compare options, view live availability, and make an appointment quickly.A major theme of the conversation is fairness and visibility for clinics. Smaller independent practices often do not have the time, budget, or expertise to compete with bigger players in SEO, paid advertising, or constant social media output. Medimo aims to level that playing field by acting as a neutral marketplace where clinics can be found more easily, without needing large marketing budgets.Jack explores both the promise and the risks of this model, including concerns around patient data, platform dependency, and whether the service might simply intercept patients clinics would have acquired anyway. Wesley responds by outlining Medimo's approach to data security, its free-to-list structure, and its revenue model based only on the first appointment.Overall, the episode is about improving patient access while helping clinics reach the right people more efficiently, without compromising trust or standards.https://medimo.co.uk/
It's a rollercoaster week on Panel Chewing: Pick of the Week—and not always in a good way.Steve and Jarrod break down a mixed bag of comics, featuring everything from disappointing reads (yes… multiple trombones
eosactive.co.ukIn this episode of Chewing It Over, Jack speaks with Jim Carr from EOS Active about a part of MSK practice that often gets overlooked or handled poorly: the relationship between products, pathways, branding, and patient communication.Although EOS Active technically sells products into the MSK space, Jim is clear that he does not want to be seen as simply “selling injections.” Instead, he argues that products only make sense when they are nested within a wider, well-reasoned patient pathway. An injection, brace, cryotherapy device, or sleeve is not the story in itself; it is only one possible component of a longer management process shaped by rehabilitation, education, timing, and patient context.A major theme of the conversation is that clinics often inherit their marketing language from manufacturers without fully realising it. Glossy flyers, miracle-style testimonials, and product-led messaging can slowly become part of a clinic's identity, even if they do not reflect how that clinic actually wants to practise. Jim's answer is to help clinics present information in a more neutral, patient-centred way that supports trust rather than hype. The discussion also explores why Jim feels unusually aligned with private clinics. He sees parallels between building a distribution business and building a clinical service: both require strategy, long-term thinking, and careful management of brand and reputation. Rather than pushing the newest thing, he prefers established, sensible options that fit real-world practice.Overall, this episode is about thinking beyond transactions. It asks clinics to be more intentional about what they communicate, how they communicate it, and how commercial choices shape the care experience patients receive.Cingal® as a multi-joint injection is now EU MDR certified. The certification includes expanded indications for multiple synovial joints, including the knee, hip, shoulder and ankle, supporting broader clinical application. As part of the MDR transition, the manufacturer is completing the final administrative steps to ensure update IFUs and supporting documentation are available in line with regulatory requirements. Further information will be shared in due course. Eos active as te UK partner are preparing updated marterials allowing you to communicate appropriatley with patients in clinic and can answer questions and quiries about this recent update.
Did Trump go too far this time? A viral AI-generated image allegedly showing Donald Trump as Christ has ignited a firestorm — and not just from critics, but from within his own base. Riley Gaines didn't hold back, warning that “God shall not be mocked” and calling for humility. The backlash quickly grew, forcing Trump to remove the image — but the drama didn't stop there. When pressed by CBS reporter Nora O'Donnell, Trump brushed off the controversy and even took a swipe at Gaines, yet she insists she still supports him and the America First movement. So what really happened? And is this a sign of cracks forming among Trump supporters?
In this week's Panel Chewing: Pick of the Week, Steve and Jarrod are back with a stacked lineup as they continue catching up on recent reads—diving into indie standouts, superhero staples, and everything in between. From deep space survival in Astral Quantum to gritty pulp crime in City of Demons, and supernatural tension in Estuary: A Ghost Story, there's no shortage of variety. The guys also tackle familiar territory with Marvel and DC, questioning whether titles like Daredevil and Detective Comics still bring anything new to the table—or if they're stuck in a cycle of “more of the same.”On the indie side, books like Hyde Street, Neighborhood Watch, and Pretty Hate Machine show off the creativity smaller publishers are bringing right now, while Conan the Barbarian continues to impress with a near pick-of-the-week performance. But when it comes time to choose, Jarrod goes with a powerful, emotional issue of Minor Arcana that hits harder than expected, while Steve surprises himself with Kilroy Is Here—a one-shot that leaves a lasting impact.Plus, the guys break down this week's group read from Batman's Grant Morrison run (Batman and Son, issues #667–668), exploring its unexpected murder mystery twist and standout artwork.Whether you're into indie comics, superhero books, or just looking for your next great read—this week's episode has something for you.And of course… what was your pick of the week?Send us a message (I'm not able to reply)Support the showPage Chewing BlogPage Chewing ForumFilm Chewing PodcastSpeculative Speculations Podcast Support the podcast via PayPalSupport the show by using our Amazon Affiliate linkJoin Riverside.fm Co-Hosts:JarrodVarsha ChrisJoseCarl D. Chewing gum first appeared in the United Kingdom in the year 1911, when AMerican manufacturer William Wrigley founded a British subsidiary. And it's only become more and more popular as time with time. During World War II, American soldiers traded sticks of gum with European locals for rations. More recently, a widely-cited estimation from the early 2000s suggested there were 28 million regular chewers in the United Kingdom, making Brits the second biggest consumers of gum in the world! Why do people say it's bad for us then? What about oral health? There you have it, now you know why doctors advise against chewing gum! In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! President Donald Trump announced a major breakthrough, stating, “I agree to suspend the bombing and attack of Iran for a period of two weeks,” after Iran agreed to the complete, immediate, and safe opening of the Strait of Hormuz. He explained the move came “based on conversations with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir of Pakistan,” who requested that he hold off the destructive force, while noting that Iran provided a 10-point proposal he called a “workable basis” for negotiations. Trump emphasized progress by saying, “Almost all of the various points of past contention have been agreed to between the United States and Iran, but a two week period will allow the Agreement to be finalized and consummated.” He framed the ceasefire positively, adding that it is “an Honor to have this Longterm problem close to resolution” on behalf of the United States and countries in the Middle East. In classic Trump fashion, the deal reflects his approach of achieving results through strength, turning a deadline for potential total destruction into a window for lasting peace in the region. An F-15E Strike Eagle was shot down by Iran last week over Southwestern Iran, and while one crew member was extracted earlier, the weapons officer remained behind enemy lines, with Iran offering a $60,000 reward for his capture. On Easter Sunday, U.S. special forces carried out a high-risk rescue deep in hostile territory involving SEAL Team 6, dozens of warplanes and helicopters, and intense fighting, successfully extracting the airman without a single American casualty. President Trump hailed the operation as an “Easter Miracle." In a Truth Social post, Trump also stated, “The fact that we were able to pull off both of these operations, without a SINGLE American killed, or even wounded, just proves once again, that we have achieved overwhelming Air Dominance and Superiority over the Iranian skies.” We also cover: Is Pat in Iran? In this episode of Chewing It Over, Jack speaks with Finn Stevenson about Flok Health and the idea of an AI physiotherapy service for back pain. Finn frames the problem clearly: in musculoskeletal care, especially within the NHS, the issue is often not knowing what works, but getting timely access to the care that already exists. With demand rising faster than workforce growth, traditional one-to-one care models struggle to keep up.Finn explains that Flok is not positioned as a software tool sold to clinicians, but as a regulated clinical service that combines AI with remote human physiotherapy support. Its current focus is spinal pain, particularly the large group of patients who can benefit from personalised exercise, reassurance, behaviour change support, education, and psychologically informed care. The ambition is to automate large parts of the pathway safely and consistently, while freeing face-to-face clinicians to focus on more complex cases.A major part of the conversation explores how this works. Finn distinguishes Flok's system from standard large language model chatbots, arguing that healthcare needs much tighter behavioural control. He describes a rule-based clinical reasoning system combined with a video-based interaction model built around “Kirsty,” a real physiotherapist whose filmed responses are assembled in real time to create a more human and engaging consultation experience. The discussion also tackles controversy: what counts as “physiotherapy,” whether this threatens the profession, and what happens when technology enters clinical care at scale. Jack remains probing but open-minded, while Finn argues that the bigger ethical issue is leaving patients stuck on long waits for care we already know how to deliver.Like, Comment, Subscribe all that good stuff :)

President Trump revealed that Iran's leaders recently sent him a major undisclosed “present” related to oil and gas. “They gave us a present, and the present arrived today. It was a very big present, worth a tremendous amount of money,” Trump stated, confirming that the gift showed the administration is “dealing with the right people.” At the same time, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth delivered a stark message: “We negotiate with bombs.” This combination of a significant oil prize and a hard-line warning captures the latest dramatic development in the U.S.-Iran situation. The coming months will determine whether this hidden oil prize leads to a new era of peace through strength or escalates into further confrontation between America and Iran. Amid the ongoing Strait of Hormuz crisis, President Trump has voiced frustration with NATO allies for declining to provide naval or other support, repeatedly calling their position disappointing and suggesting it could damage the alliance long-term. He reiterated that the U.S. does not require their assistance in confronting Iran but questioned whether NATO would ever truly be there for America in a crisis. Such statements have kept the topic of a potential U.S. pullout alive in political discourse. With tensions rising, even low-probability bets on Polymarket reflect the uncertainty. This comes alongside the high-profile resignation of Joe Kent from his role leading the National Counterterrorism Center, where he protested the administration's decision to engage in the Iran war. Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-S.D.) has acknowledged that the SAVE Act, which requires proof of citizenship for voter registration in federal elections, faces significant hurdles in the Senate due to the current filibuster rules. He stated plainly, “The votes aren't there” to pass it through a marathon talking filibuster, as demanded by some to force Democrats to hold the floor indefinitely. Thune further explained, “The votes aren't there, one, to nuke the filibuster, and the votes aren't there for a talking filibuster,” emphasizing the lack of support to change Senate procedures or override opposition. Americans who support securing elections and restoring the traditional talking filibuster for greater transparency should politely call Senator Thune's office at (202) 224-2321 today and urge him to lead on passing the SAVE Act while mandating real, on-the-floor debate — no more silent blocks! President Donald Trump addressed the ongoing U.S.-Israeli war with Iran, defending the military campaign as necessary to prevent a larger nuclear threat and asserting that Iran's air force, navy, and missile capabilities have been largely "knocked out." He denied claims that Israel, under Netanyahu, forced the U.S. into the war, instead claiming that "if anything, I might have forced Israel's hand" because he believed Iran was preparing to attack first amid failed negotiations. In a key moment, Trump announced new strikes targeting Iranian leadership and speculated on post-regime possibilities, noting that many potential moderate successors "are dead" after the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. He also threatened to cut off all trade ties with Spain, calling the country "terrible" and "unfriendly" for refusing to allow U.S. use of its military bases. Overall, Trump portrayed Operation Epic Fury as progressing ahead of schedule, while the conflict widened with Iranian retaliatory strikes on Gulf targets and U.S. pledges to escort oil tankers through the Strait of Hormuz. President Trump's 2026 State of the Union was a record-breaking master class in American strength — nearly 108 minutes of pure wins, patriotism, and exposing Democrat obstruction. He declared the golden age of America is here, with a booming economy, sealed borders, and the nation bigger, better, richer, and stronger than ever. Zohran Mamdani's plan to fix New York City's budget crisis involves pressuring Albany to soak the rich with higher income taxes on millionaires and bigger levies on profitable corporations, claiming it's the "fairest" way to avoid hurting working families. If state leaders refuse, he threatens a massive 9.5% city property tax hike as a backup, which would slam homeowners, co-op residents, and middle-class New Yorkers. This ultimatum-style approach is designed to force higher taxes on the wealthy by holding property owners hostage. How is the warmth of collectivism now in New York?
