Week 1 raised big questions: did Sunday night feature the NFL's two best teams, or do Baltimore's pass rush issues and Buffalo's shaky safeties say otherwise? Aaron Rodgers looked vintage, Miami looked lost, and Daniel Jones may finally have the right team around him in Indy. Pete Carroll made history, Jalen Carter's spit drew scrutiny, and Kansas City must replace Xavier Worthy. On today's show, we're chatting with Alison Nagatani, the founder of Maui Mood Swing and Mad Kimono. Alison is a fourth-generation farmer turned vintage entrepreneur who made the bold move from California's Central Valley to Maui and has since reimagined her life, living new passions. What started as sourcing vintage for a friend's store evolved into two unique vintage destinations: Maui Mood Swing, an antique mall experience with a Hawaiian twist, and Mad Kimono, a curated women's vintage boutique inspired by her personal closet spanning pieces from the 1930s to 1990s. And I loved hearing about how Alison brings vintage full circle - literally bringing Hawaii souvenirs back home to the islands where they started. I think you're really going to enjoy it – let's dive right in! DISCUSSED IN THE EPISODE: [3:34] Growing up in Bakersfield, Alison got into vintage and thrift through dressing in punk and grunge styles in high school. [7:43] Alison is a fourth-generation Japanese-American farmer and grew up on the family farm. [10:14] While making the bold move to Maui, Alison started her own vintage businesses. [13:18] Building a team and community around the vintage stores [19:42] Building Maui Mood Swing, during COVID, from afar. [21:04] After Maui Mood Swing, the team opened Mad Kimono, just nine months ago. [25:02] Sourcing vintage in Hawaii and bringing Hawaiian souvenirs back to the islands [29:04] Alison also specializes in ‘Made in Hawaii' clothing. [33:13] Traveling to California and Japan to source vintage. [39:38] Alison's kimonos, and other special pieces in her personal vintage collection. [40:32] Her philosophy on letting go of vintage pieces EPISODE MENTIONS: Maui Mood Swing @mauimoodswing Mad Kimono @madkimonomaui Jerry's Pizza in Bakersfield Kahala shirts Crazy tees - vintage tags Gecko Hawaii Wings Hawaii Blossom Vintage Jamie from Blossom on Pre-Loved Podcast Heartbreak Vintage Kimono Dragon LET'S CONNECT:

The story so far: Three boys are trapped in an underground movie store run by a moleman named MoleMan and bide their time watching trash films and going on stupid adventures. This week, Eric is still out on some sort of mission...maybe?...but we're visited by a new underground-dwelling friend, Jarrett the Goblin King! And since we can't decide what movie to watch, Jarrett decides for us and we pop in the meta-horror mocumentary Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon! Join us as we shower some love onto the film and its found footage/documentary style, while still finding the yannick imagery in Pokemon and discuss how we might murder Dan in the library! All hail the Goblin king! If you dig us, why not check out our other podcast Greg's Cryptid Corner? It's fun, has the same hosts, and we talk about spooky monsters that Greg believes are real and Eric and Dan are still skeptical of. It's fun. You'll like it. Part 5 zeroes in on the record $12.9M Kobe/MJ Exquisite Dual Logoman: is it a true comp or a one-off outlier? We dig into why this sale triggered stronger reactions than Wagner/Mantle results, the marketing/use-case angle (Schemes/Dick's as precedent), and how headlines (“highest ever”) can be worth more than the incremental bid. We also kick around underbidder theories, “comp” vs “comparable,” and whether there's any real trickle-down. Then a fun closer: what would a 1/1 '89 UD Griffey be worth? Highlights Why this modern card drew more vitriol than vintage record-setters “Comp” vs “comparable”: when a data point doesn't map to anything else Marketing spend logic (Schemes/Dick's) and the Secure syndicate's “calling card” Psychological spillover vs long-term pricing reality Manufactured rarity isn't new: Wagner, '52 Topps highs, '33 Goudey Lajoie, Bert Corbeau, Leaf Marciano Quick takes from Karvin Cheung, Chris McGill, and Josh Adams on what really matters for collectors If you're into record sales, comps, and the vintage–modern divide, this one's for you. No time was wasted building for WWE Wrestlepalooza with an incredible Monday Night Raw in Paris standing as one of the best TV episodes of the year. Host Adam Silverstein and co-host Chris Vannini open with a brief second look at WWE Clash in Paris [3:25] before tackling The Main Event [19:55] where Becky Lynch firmly put CM Punk in his place, AJ Lee's return got teased, Seth Rollins stayed uncommonly silent and a beatdown by Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed led to the potential reformation of The Usos after a Jey Uso & LA Knight team up. "The Silver King" and "Vintage" then cover The Good, The Bad and The Ugly [56:00], including Dominik Mysterio beating AJ Styles in France, Sami Zayn taking the United States championship off Solo Sikoa, IYO SKY remaining the centerpiece of an extended storyline with Asuka and Rhea Ripley, Randy Orton vs. Drew McIntyre leaving something to be desired, SmackDown struggling creatively and Rusev boasting in his follow up to beating Sheamus.
