As I write this, Mercury is about thirty minutes from his station, and we are about to ride along for the messenger's third and final retrograde journey of 2025.Mercury's retrogrades always bring the potential for delays, cancellations, and communication mishaps, and, as the lovely Brandon mentions toward the end of the episode, shopping inefficiencies. But if we pay close attention, we can usually sense a deeper focus beneath the noise and chaos that swirl on the surface of Mercury's retrograde cycles.This time, the messenger's retrograde asks a pointed question: What's been left unfinished?Perfectly positioned to dialogue with Uranus and triangulate communication between Jupiter and Saturn, Mercury's retrograde plunges deep into strategy. We have six months to tie up loose ends in Taurus. 3. Launch Mechanics, Primitive Technology, and Trans Lunar Injection. Bob Zimmerman discusses how Apollo 8 launched on December 21, 1968, the first day of its window, following a smooth ride on the powerful Saturn 5 rocket. Engineers had mitigated the "pogo" vibration effects that plagued earlier test flights. After one Earth orbit to verify systems, they performed the Trans Lunar Injection (TLI), firing the upper stage Saturn engines to accelerate toward the moon. This moment marked the first time humans were visibly leaving Earth orbit, an experience Jim Lovell described as the Earth shrinking rapidly, like the exit of a tunnel. The Apollo capsule's onboard computer system was highly primitive, inferior to a simple digital watch calculator. Astronauts had to manually enter long strings of numbers dictated by ground control to execute maneuvers, although Borman maintained the use of a manual override for absolute precision. 1966 APOLLO 1

2. The Apollo 8 Crew, Cold War Context, and Reliance on the Saturn 5 Booster. Bob Zimmerman introduces the Apollo 8 crew—Commander Frank Borman, Jim Lovell, and rookie William Anders—set against the backdrop of the intense global Cold War in late 1968. Borman was selected for his honesty and dedication to duty, ensuring the mission's success after his role in investigating the Apollo 1 tragedy. Lovell was known as a "space cadet" eager to explore, and he and Borman had proven human endurance in space during Gemini 7. The mission was a high-risk endeavor, utilizing the Saturn 5 rocket, which had only flown twice before, with the second flight experiencing problems. Wernher von Braun's team fixed these issues, and NASA decided to proceed, confident they could demonstrate that free people could achieve success better than the top-down Soviet system. The astronauts' wives accepted the mission despite the widely believed 50/50 chance of return. 1945

The Mac Saturn guys are back and making a racket! It was great to reconnect with Carson, Angelo, Mike, and Ian.The band has had an unusual start. Sidelined by the pandemic, then, a now ex-member sentenced to jail for child porn, the guys are focused on another chance to prove they belong in the big leagues, on the big stages.They sat down with me earlier this week to discuss everything happening with Mac Saturn..."It's Been A Hell Of A Year"With all that's happened in the past, I just asked them: How's the state of the band? Singer, Carson Macc said, "Well, it's been one hell of a year, year and a half, I'd say. We've spent a lot of time together. You know, we've been brought closer as brothers, and we've been doing a lot of writing. We've got a lot of new songs that we're trying out on stage, as well as the songs from Hard to Sell that we still love playing. And we're just trying to push our sound, push ourselves, and push each other to be the best we can be. And we're excited to bring that back to people. But, it's been quite a year." Bassist Ian Lukas piped in on how much they've been inspired. "It's been such a terrific period for really being inspired by our audience. Really plotting, you know, what we want to come back with, what kind of, like, direction we want to go come back with. And we're just super psyched with how it's going so far."The guys have primarily been playing smaller shows to get back in the groove. Something that Carson said is a chance to connect with the fans. "People were playing to, these crowds that are extremely engaged. And we get to engage with every single person. We kind of lost that a little bit in some of the shows when we opened for Dirty Honeyand the Struts, obviously, at that level. You know, there's a few people in the back that you can't really make eye contact with. But on these shows we've been playing, we are connecting with every single person in the club. And it's an exciting thing for us. And it really is informing us a lot on the songs that we've been working."Working With Al Sutton, Herschel Boone, and Marlon YoungThe guys are no strangers to Rust Belt studio, helmed by the legendary Al Sutton. I asked what it's like to work with him. "Well, I will say, you know, Al is a big part of it. But Marlon Young and Herschel Boone. The other two guys. You know, Marlon's definitely in the music world and in the guitar world. And Herschel, me, and Herschel, definitely lock in on the vocals. And he works with the guys on the backgrounds. He gets these guys to sound like a 35-piece choir on the background." Carson went on, "It's crazy. So I would say it's definitely a team effort. But Al is just so passionate. And he is so, he's matured so much since we've even started working with him. And the process that we have with him now, there's so much trust involved. And there's such a free communication that he really lets us bring in ideas and see where they lead to. And, you know, he reaches out to people that he knows and tries to get them involved as well."For those who don't know, Marlon and Herschel have been in Kid Rock's Twisted Brown Trucker band for over two decades.Being A Detroit BandI asked the guys about representing Detroit rock abroad. Guitarist Mike Moody said, "We're so proud of Detroit. And it's such a cool conversation starter, too, because we are repping it as much as we possibly can. So I think a lot of people have really cool experiences with something that they love from Detroit. And we love talking about that."Angelo piped in, "Everyone's got some artists they love from Detroit. He said that even a city like Nashville has many musicians from this area. "Well, I think we wouldn't be who we are without where we are always. You know, we're very in tune with our environment, just all the guys in general. And I think a real, true no frills band has to be affected by where they are, you know? And I'm just so thankful that it's this city because what can be combined in this city, not only music-wise, but style-wise, vibe-wise, energy-wise, hustle-wise, what you can combine here, you can only do here. It's one of one place, and it makes us want to be one of one. And I, you know, as much as I owe everything to the band and the producers and everything, we owe just as much to the city for making us want to be who we are and want to be a Detroit thing," said Carson.Ian chimed in, "It's a privilege to be a part of the music scene in Detroit, and take that on the road."Playing Saint Andrew's Hall On November 15thIt's a big show for the boys, as drummer Angelo Coppala explained, "It's my dad's birthday. There's a lot going on. We got to kill it. We got to do it. So we're excited for that. And we've got our eyes on that target. But it's all, it all feels like the first time. But it's also like the first time with all the knowledge that you have. So we're really excited to take different steps than we did last time when we were kind of at this point."I'm glad the boys are back. Again, a result of this monthly lunar cycle's message that it's time to push back rather than lay back & continue to be disempowered.However, as we head toward the third-quarter waning “crisis in consciousness” square of the Leo Moon to the Scorpio Sun November 11, we're asked to realize that the needs of each individual are what matter, and that lumping them into groups & dismissing their concerns will cause even more chaos.The Leo Moon (“the people” in mundane astrology) are in tension with the leader (“king” in mundane astrology) who's hell bent on ruling with an autocratic hand. This recent election, as we waxed toward the Taurus Full Moon, will now lead to the realization that we are at a turning point here in America.ONCE I WAS BLIND, BUT NOW I CAN SEEMeanwhile, we have the Uranus retrograding back into Taurus on November 7 & reentering at the 29-degree Pleiades point, which represents “blindness.” The question becomes whether the Trump Administration & Congress have been SO blind to what's going on in the lives of its citizens that it's actually adapted a “let them eat cake” policy & caused what's now the longest government shut down in American history? As Uranus backs into Taurus, we have also the announcement that—due to the fact that federally-employed air traffic controllers (Uranus=flight) are going without pay causing many of them to call in sick, thus creating a shortage of workers. This is leading to a 40% reduction in flights across the country (Taurus=slowdown.) This as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday period, pretty much THE most heavily traveled days of the year.Next we have Mercury stationing retrograde in Sagittarius (also a delay related to travel) on November 9. This marks the beginning of the period where Mercury moved back from the fire to the water trigon, asking us to begin to review the question “what is the quality of my life?” as Jungian astrologer Erin Sullivan puts it in her book “Retrograde Planets, Traversing the Inner Landscape.”Mercury will move back into Scorpio on November 18 & remain in that deeply volatile archetypal sign through its direct station on November 29 & until it reenters Sagittarius on December 11. Lots of time for us to review the emotional quality of our lives now & to discern where we may be clinging on to old emotional patterns that no longer serve us well.By November 11 Jupiter will station retrograde in Cancer, asking us to review whether what we think we want is what our soul truly needs to be happy. This is a huge lift for some, given Jupiter's propensity for pie-in-the-sky, somewhere over the rainbow, optimism & wishful thinking. Jupiter remains retrograde until March 10, 2026, so the caution is not to get too disillusioned if efforts do not pan out as previously planned during this time span. Rather, look at the bright side given the current state of U.S. politics: THEIR plans to disempower American citizens won't manifest as they thought they would, & that's a good thing, right?On November 12, Mercury retrograde conjoins with Mars in Sagittarius & perhaps we'll hear some judicial thinking (read: rulings) about the U.S. Government's attempts harm others. Could be about shooting boats out of international waters with no proof that their running drugs. Could be about the “war” Trump has declared against his own citizens by placing federal troops in American cities. Or perhaps through high tariffs that only end up taxing his own people. Asteroid "12 Victoria" is a large S-type (stony) asteroid in the main asteroid belt, discovered in 1850 by J.R. Hind. It orbits between Mars and Jupiter, recently, a meteor event occurred over Victoria, Australia, in August 2025, which created a sonic boom and was large enough for fragments to potentially have landed on the ground.  5th & 6th - Moon Near Pleiades NGC's 253 & 288 well placed tonight 7th - Cleomedes Sunset Rays visible on Moon 9th  - Carbon Star VX And Best tonight 10th - Jupiter 4-degrees S of Moon 11th - asteroid 471 Papagena at opposition  471 Papagena is an asteroid that was discovered by German astronomer Max Wolf on 7 June 1901 12th - N Taurid Meteors ZHR=5 The Northern Taurid meteor shower, active from roughly October 20 to December 10, peaks around November 12. It is known for producing bright, slow-moving fireballs that are easy to spot with the naked eye. The shower is caused by Earth passing through debris from Comet Encke  14th - Zodiacal Light becomes visible this month 17th - Leonid Meteors this morning The Leonid meteor shower is an annual event that peaks around November 17th, when Earth passes through debris left by Comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle. These fast, bright meteors appear to originate from the constellation Leo, which is how they got their name. Under normal conditions, you might see 10 to 15 meteors per hour, but every 33 year,.... 19th - Carbon star WZ Can best tonight 20th - Gegenshein Visible 68 Leto M=9.9 at opposition. It is a large main belt asteroid that is orbiting the Sun. The asteroid was discovered by German astronomer Robert Luther on April 29, 1861, and is named after Leto, the mother of Apollo and Artemis in Greek mythology. It orbits at a distance of 2.78112 AU over 4.64 years and has an orbital eccentricity of 0.187. The orbital plane is inclined at an angle of 7.97° to the ecliptic.68 Leto is a large main belt asteroid that is orbiting the Sun. The asteroid was discovered by German astronomer Robert Luther on April 29, 1861, and is named after Leto the mother of Apollo and Artemis. It orbits at a distance of 2.78112 AU over 4.64 years.
