Here we are at another season already. The podcast has now reached it's 22nd season, which is a small miracle. We just keep chugging along. If anything, I think it now has a solid core of listeners and participants that feel like they're going to stick with me. :-) With BGStats, it's now even easier for me to see my final tallies for the games I played last year. Plus, I can separate out the digital ones from the in-person plays. Though as you'll hear in the podcast, a bunch of those digital plays are as real as anything, thanks to live play and voice/video connections. I expect that trend will continue to be an important part of my hobby. After talking about those statistics and some more meta thoughts at the end of the year, I jump into some questions & comments from listeners. I used to do this regularly. Now, perhaps the Discord server itself serves some of that function. But it's still nice to respond on the podcast to questions. I'll probably do that again sometime. -Mark

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for December 31, 2025 is: retrospective reh-truh-SPEK-tiv adjective Retrospective describes something that relates to the past or to something that happened in the past. // The museum has curated a retrospective exhibit of the artist's early works. See the entry > Examples: "Our retrospective sense of time hinges on memory: Periods rich in novel, significant experiences feel longer, while routine collapses duration ..." — Marc Wittmann, Psychology Today, 16 Nov. 2025 Did you know? At the year's end, both introspection and retrospection are common. While introspection involves looking inward and taking stock of oneself, retrospection is all about recollecting and contemplating things that happened in the past. A look back at the history of the related adjective retrospective reveals that it retains a strong connection to its past: its Latin source is retrospicere, meaning "to look back at." Retrospective can also be used as a noun referring to an exhibition that "looks back" at an artist's work created over a span of years. Once you have retrospective and retrospection behind you, you can also add their kin retrospect (most familiar in the phrase in retrospect to describe thinking about the past or something that happened in the past) and retro (usually meaning "fashionably nostalgic or old-fashioned") to your vocabulary, too.

Go here to secure your ticket: https://doctorpodfest.com/doctorfest2026-203599?am_id=desiree7783 ______________ Dr. Mike Woo-Ming pauses the usual Bootstrap MD format for a candid two-part series. In Part 1, he delivers a no-hype 2025 retrospective: the biggest wins (cash/hybrid models, content as infrastructure, smarter investing), the brutal flops (commodity telehealth, passive income myths, unused AI tools), and the quiet trends most doctors missed entirely. 2025 stripped away the illusions for physician entrepreneurs. While some chased shiny objects and got burned, others built real leverage, freedom, and wealth. In this raw year-in-review, Dr. Mike Woo-Ming shares exactly what crushed it, what crashed hard, and the under-the-radar shifts that separated the thriving doctors from the overwhelmed ones. No fluff, just the real lessons from coaching hundreds of physicians through the year's chaos. Top 3 Actionable Takeaways Own the patient relationship with niche cash/hybrid models: Stop competing on price in commoditized markets. Build a practice where you choose patients, control scheduling, and have pricing power, whether full cash, membership, or strategic hybrid. Micro-niches like executive perimenopause, endurance athletes, beat generic telehealth every time in 2025. Treat content as infrastructure, not marketing: One consistent long-form platform (podcast, YouTube, newsletter) compounds trust and authority faster than rented social algorithms. Patients who consume 10+ episodes arrive pre-sold, not price-shopping. Start owning your distribution now, consistency beats perfection. Go deep on fewer bets instead of wide and scattered: Spreading across 10 mediocre ventures creates overwhelm with no leverage. The 2025 winners picked 1–2 interconnected things (niche practice, community, content and membership) and mastered them. Depth creates moats; breadth creates burnout. About the Show: Bootstrap MD is the ultimate podcast for physician entrepreneurs looking to escape traditional healthcare and control their financial futures. Hosted by Dr. Mike Woo-Ming, a successful physician, entrepreneur, and investor, the show delivers actionable insights on starting businesses, creating passive income, and navigating healthcare entrepreneurship. Another year of the podcast is in the books! In this short episode I mostly just want to thank everyone for listening and share some insights from the year. Some big ones were: Over 10,000 downloads in 2025 (whoa, thank you) Better gender diversity in Perspective Checks (working on racial diversity, I promise) 15 different games on the podcast in 2025 (same as 2024, weird) And for 2026, I have small plans to slightly adjust the regularly scheduled offerings from the last 2 years by making 4th week releases strictly design diaries, but specific to near completion/release games to hold myself more accountable, as well as a monthly Twitch stream where I just hang out with folks who want to come chat about games and what goes on behind the screen. I hope your personal 2025 wasn't on par with the dumpster fire that was this year, and I hope your 2026 is going to be incredible with many many many many great games :)

Today is the second episode of the NFT Morning x 100Collectors series, and for this occasion we are pleased to welcome Eleonora Brizi and Fanny Lakoubay. Together, we take a step back and look at 2025 as a full year for digital art and NFTs, not through hype or price action, but through events, institutions, fairs, exhibitions, and the slow transformation of the ecosystem.Chronological map:* January 2025, the shutdown of MakersPlace, a strong signal about the fragility of NFT marketplaces and post speculative economics* February, NFT Paris, marked by a weak presence of art inside the main venue but a strong dynamic in side events across the city* The emergence of Artverse (launched in June 2024) in Paris as a key community hub during major crypto and NFT weeks* March, Art Basel Hong Kong, with limited digital art in the fair but official visibility through talks, performances, and special programming. Continuation of Digital Dialogues, curated conversations around digital art, AI, and blockchain, running parallel to Art Basel fairs* April, the major AI exhibition at the Jeu de Paume, notable for its institutional framing and absence of explicit NFT discourse* May, the announcement of the CryptoPunks IP acquisition by the NODE Foundation and the rise of digital art awards and prizes* Art Dubai, showing growing interest in digital art in the Middle East, including collector focused events* June, Non Fungible Conference, highlighting experimentation, new formats, performance, and cultural risk taking* June, Art Basel Basel, alongside the Digital Art Mile, showing parallel paths between institutions and independent initiatives* Summer 2025, the exhibition “Infinite Images” at the Toledo Museum of Art, one of the strongest museum scale shows on algorithmic and digital art* October, Art Blocks Marfa weekend, the annual community gathering and celebration of generative art* November, Paris Photo, cited as part of the packed fall season (along with other fairs and community gatherings)* November, Art Abu Dhabi* Fall, Art on Tezos Berlin, described as a community gathering that doesn't fit classic categories like fair, festival, or conference* December, Art Basel Miami Beach, and the launch of Zero10, Art Basel's dedicated digital art sector, placing digital art directly inside the fair experienceThe key sentence of the episode“2025 showed that digital art is no longer trying to come back, it is integrating into institutions at its own pace, while building independent spaces when existing structures are not designed for it” (Fanny Lakoubay)More details here : * 100Collectors* Article on the 8 important steps 100 COLLECTORS to be reached by 2025* Artverse Paris* Non Fungible Conference* Art Basel, Digital Art and Zero10* Infinite Images exhibition, Toledo Museum This is a public episode. Hermine Duerloo, Laurent Maur and Alexandre Piret join me on episode 150, for a retrospective on the great Toots Thielemans. Toots was born in 1922 to humble beginnings, in Brussels, Belgium, where his parents ran a cafe. His first instrument was an accordion, which he started playing at age three and showed great promise. He took up guitar and the chromatic harmonica around the age of sixteen. He then went on to tour Europe with Benny Goodman in 1950 before moving to the US in 1951 where landed a seat in the George Shearing Quintet, mainly as a guitar player, but also playing some songs on chromatic. Toots made his first solo albums from the late 1950s, including the iconic Man Bites Harmonica. From the 1960s Toots was in great demand as a session musician, recording with many giants of the music industry, such as Bill Evans, Paul Simon and Billy Joel. He also made some notable musical collaborations, including with Jaco Pastorius and Quincy Jones, and recorded on numerous film and tv scores, such as Midnight Cowboy and Sesame Street. Toots had such a long and glorious career that it's hard to do it justice, but this episode attempts to highlight some of the key moments from the undisputed giant of the chromatic harmonica, and one who has inspired pretty much every chromatic player that has followed. In episode 307 of Absolute AppSec, hosts Ken and Seth conduct a retrospective on the application security landscape of 2025. They conclude that their previous predictions were largely accurate, particularly regarding the rise of prompt injection, AI-backed attacks, and the industry-wide shift toward per-token billing models. A major theme of the year was the solidification of supply chain security as a critical pillar of AppSec, driven by notable incidents such as Shai Hulud and React for Shell. The hosts also share insights from their four-day training course on utilizing LLMs for secure code review, noting that while AI development is becoming more prevalent, most practitioners are still in the nascent stages of building custom tooling. Much of the discussion focuses on the Model Context Protocol (MCP); while it offers significant value for agentic workflows, the hosts criticize its current lack of robust security controls, specifically highlighting issues with OAuth implementations and short timeouts in existing clients. Finally, they discuss how the industry is moving toward a more nuanced balance between deterministic tools like Semgrep and the probabilistic creativity of LLMs to increase efficiency in security consulting.

In this episode, Ricardo looks back at the year in projects with a mature and deeply reflective perspective, focusing on the lessons learned. He describes an intense year, marked by strong pressure for results, shorter deadlines, and increasingly tight budgets, where good planning ceased to be a differentiator and became a matter of survival. Execution took center stage, and mistakes became more costly. At the same time, artificial intelligence ceased to be a promise and became part of the daily routine of projects, bringing real productivity gains. AI did not replace the project manager; it replaced improvisation. Even so, the biggest challenge remained human: fatigue, overload, burnout, and failures caused by human exhaustion. The dispute between methods lost its meaning; those who knew how to adapt to the context won. Projects became more strategic, guided by value, purpose, and conscious choices for the future. It's becoming a Christmas tradition on The 80s and 90s Uncensored to do a wheel spin and add “Christmas” at the end. So, for this year's Christmas-themed episode, the wheels of fate gave the guys “1989 sweaters.” With those instructions, they discuss the Christmas sweaters of 1989 and debate at what point they became the ugly Christmas sweater we know today, and have a love/hate relationship with. For our End of the Year Retrospective, we decided this year to cover the history of the Horror genre. You all know what ridiculously huge horror fans we are, so it was about time to discuss this magical genre. We cover the first horror film, first Christmas horror film, changes by decade, and a lot more. At the end, Jim gives everyone a piece of advice. You should listen to it. This will be the last episode for 2025 as Jim takes the rest of the month for his recovery. We will be back in 2026, just a few weeks away. CREATE! Support the Podcast Visit our website
