Last year we dropped our first show trailer; had our first live event since 2018; started our new "Wrap Up" series discussing/promoting SoapBox films; continued our Palestinian Liberation and Whiskey & Watching series; talked public transit, housing protections for working people, and how ICE ain't shit; and throughout the year analyzed Trump's billionaire, tech bro, Christian Nationalist fascist takeover and how we fight back. For better or worse, here's to 2026!With 12 total full episodes, 2025 brought 10 guest episodes (4 repeat, 7 new; 8 with 2+ guests) and 8 series-type episodes. In addition to the yearly breakdown, the full team discusses shared leadership, reflects heavily on the in-person BnB Live event the previous night, the making of the BnB trailer, and how SoapBox's 2025 trajectory and overall political moment compares to 2017-2019. I'm excited to share Part 2 of my 2025 yearend retrospective, which highlights the most impactful insights shared by our amazing guests, as determined by you, the listener. The goal of this special 2-part episode is to lay the foundation such that 2026 is your best year yet! What is incredible to me is how similar the core themes were across the different guests who joined us on the program. Not surprisingly, curiosity was a major area of emphasis. In a world of constant change, being curious about ourselves and others is vitally important to unlock our individual and collective potential. We also touched on the importance of community and belonging to create cultures of peak performance. Emotions were also discussed in depth, not as a distractor, but more as a navigational compass. Becoming friends with our inner worlds and listening intently to the lessons our emotions are trying to teach us was a crucial takeaway from this past year.Last but not least, and building on the past thread, in a world of AI, it is essential not to delegate our thinking to technology. While it is an invaluable and powerful thought partner, we, the user, needs to continue to be the thought leader. Being more mindful and intentional about the questions we ask is the key to our success! I hope these episodes provide some actionable insights you can leverage in 2026 and beyond! What You'll Learn- Curiosity: A superpower in leadership and in life- Social sensitivity and team success- The 3 C's of meaningful work: Community, contribution, challenge- AI as a leadership tool: The CRIT Framework- Cognitive diversity and team innovation- Unleashing creativity and problem finding- Embracing emotions in leadership- The power of matteringKEYWORDSPositive Leadership, Personal growth, Professional Development, Uncomfortable Conversations, Team Dynamics, Individual/Collective Excellence, Mindfulness, Navigating Uncertainty, Embracing Curiosity, Asking Questions, Building Resiliency, Authentic Leadership, Psychological Safety, Positive Change, Managing Stress, Success Principles
We had fun with last year's recommitment ceremony episode to start off the year (that we definitely stuck to and did NOT stray from) so we figured we'd do it again this year! We recap our 2025 and look forward to 2026 and dip our toes into the Matt RPG where THEY get to play an RPG?? Madness. You can contact the show at agoodpodcast@gmail.com and find us @HowStarWarsIsIt on all platforms, but since all platforms are kind of evil now, you should probably just email us. That's the best way to get a hold of us! You can also follow Mike @WordGospel09 on Youtube and Instagram and Josiah @JosiahDotBiz on social media, but once again, just email us. Society views time as a fixed commodity, yet modern theoretical physics and cognitive neuroscience suggest otherwise. If the linear flow of time is truly an illusion, then time isn't just a resource to be managed; it's a perception to be mastered. My guest on the podcast today, Prof. Steve Taylor, argues that time isn't experienced evenly. He suggests that where you place your attention and how you live day-to-day can change the way time unfolds, stretching or compressing your sense of it. Steve is a researcher in psychology and a senior lecturer at Leeds Beckett University. He has served as the chair of the Transpersonal Psychology section of the British Psychological Society. He writes the popular blog Out of the Darkness for Psychology Today and has contributed to Scientific American, The Conversation, and The Psychologist. In his work on "Time Expansion Experiences," Steve explores why we experience time differently in different states of mind. We discuss everything from slow-motion accident stories (and why calm can show up in chaos) to meditation, flow states, and the mind-bending "eternal now" where mysticism and physics converge. Highlights from the episode: Accidents and "slow-motion" perception: Why the mind slows down in crisis. The age gap: Why children experience long summers while adults feel seasons fly by. Retrospective time theory: How we judge duration after the fact. Automatization: How your brain edits reality to remain efficient. Digital distortion: Social media's impact on your experience of time. The power of novelty: How small changes can make life feel longer. The "Block Universe" theory: Exploring Einstein and Minkowski's spacetime. NDE life reviews: Examining the spatial sequence of memory. Time cessation phenomena: What happens when time stops altogether. The discussion moves from metaphysics to real-world advice on subjectively "lengthening" your life. Enjoy! Here we are at another season already. The podcast has now reached it's 22nd season, which is a small miracle. We just keep chugging along. If anything, I think it now has a solid core of listeners and participants that feel like they're going to stick with me. :-) With BGStats, it's now even easier for me to see my final tallies for the games I played last year. Plus, I can separate out the digital ones from the in-person plays. Though as you'll hear in the podcast, a bunch of those digital plays are as real as anything, thanks to live play and voice/video connections. I expect that trend will continue to be an important part of my hobby. After talking about those statistics and some more meta thoughts at the end of the year, I jump into some questions & comments from listeners. I used to do this regularly. Now, perhaps the Discord server itself serves some of that function. But it's still nice to respond on the podcast to questions. I'll probably do that again sometime. -Mark

Merriam-Webster's Word of the Day for December 31, 2025 is: retrospective reh-truh-SPEK-tiv adjective Retrospective describes something that relates to the past or to something that happened in the past. // The museum has curated a retrospective exhibit of the artist's early works. See the entry > Examples: "Our retrospective sense of time hinges on memory: Periods rich in novel, significant experiences feel longer, while routine collapses duration ..." — Marc Wittmann, Psychology Today, 16 Nov. 2025 Did you know? At the year's end, both introspection and retrospection are common. While introspection involves looking inward and taking stock of oneself, retrospection is all about recollecting and contemplating things that happened in the past. A look back at the history of the related adjective retrospective reveals that it retains a strong connection to its past: its Latin source is retrospicere, meaning "to look back at." Retrospective can also be used as a noun referring to an exhibition that "looks back" at an artist's work created over a span of years. Once you have retrospective and retrospection behind you, you can also add their kin retrospect (most familiar in the phrase in retrospect to describe thinking about the past or something that happened in the past) and retro (usually meaning "fashionably nostalgic or old-fashioned") to your vocabulary, too.

Go here to secure your ticket: https://doctorpodfest.com/doctorfest2026-203599?am_id=desiree7783 ______________ Dr. Mike Woo-Ming pauses the usual Bootstrap MD format for a candid two-part series. In Part 1, he delivers a no-hype 2025 retrospective: the biggest wins (cash/hybrid models, content as infrastructure, smarter investing), the brutal flops (commodity telehealth, passive income myths, unused AI tools), and the quiet trends most doctors missed entirely. 2025 stripped away the illusions for physician entrepreneurs. While some chased shiny objects and got burned, others built real leverage, freedom, and wealth. In this raw year-in-review, Dr. Mike Woo-Ming shares exactly what crushed it, what crashed hard, and the under-the-radar shifts that separated the thriving doctors from the overwhelmed ones. No fluff, just the real lessons from coaching hundreds of physicians through the year's chaos. Top 3 Actionable Takeaways Own the patient relationship with niche cash/hybrid models: Stop competing on price in commoditized markets. Build a practice where you choose patients, control scheduling, and have pricing power, whether full cash, membership, or strategic hybrid. Micro-niches like executive perimenopause, endurance athletes, beat generic telehealth every time in 2025. Treat content as infrastructure, not marketing: One consistent long-form platform (podcast, YouTube, newsletter) compounds trust and authority faster than rented social algorithms. Patients who consume 10+ episodes arrive pre-sold, not price-shopping. Start owning your distribution now, consistency beats perfection. Go deep on fewer bets instead of wide and scattered: Spreading across 10 mediocre ventures creates overwhelm with no leverage. The 2025 winners picked 1–2 interconnected things (niche practice, community, content and membership) and mastered them. Depth creates moats; breadth creates burnout. About the Show: Bootstrap MD is the ultimate podcast for physician entrepreneurs looking to escape traditional healthcare and control their financial futures. Hosted by Dr. Mike Woo-Ming, a successful physician, entrepreneur, and investor, the show delivers actionable insights on starting businesses, creating passive income, and navigating healthcare entrepreneurship. Originally Recorded: December 20th, 2025 2025 is coming to an end and so is our limited time Retrospective series celebrating the 10 Year Anniversary of the Dub Talk Podcast. And what better what to finish up the year then with the trio that started it all? Today, the OGs: Steph, Hardy, and Megan take a trip down memory lane and into the electric city as they revisit a little comedy 2017 comedy from Studio Gonzo and based off off the video games series from Acquire. It's time to lay it all bare and fully discuss for the first time Akiba'S Trip The Animation! Our theme music was composed by Gabriel Pulcinelli / Ponpoko in the Distance. Another year of the podcast is in the books! In this short episode I mostly just want to thank everyone for listening and share some insights from the year. Some big ones were: Over 10,000 downloads in 2025 (whoa, thank you) Better gender diversity in Perspective Checks (working on racial diversity, I promise) 15 different games on the podcast in 2025 (same as 2024, weird) And for 2026, I have small plans to slightly adjust the regularly scheduled offerings from the last 2 years by making 4th week releases strictly design diaries, but specific to near completion/release games to hold myself more accountable, as well as a monthly Twitch stream where I just hang out with folks who want to come chat about games and what goes on behind the screen. I hope your personal 2025 wasn't on par with the dumpster fire that was this year, and I hope your 2026 is going to be incredible with many many many many great games :)

Hermine Duerloo, Laurent Maur and Alexandre Piret join me on episode 150, for a retrospective on the great Toots Thielemans. Toots was born in 1922 to humble beginnings, in Brussels, Belgium, where his parents ran a cafe. His first instrument was an accordion, which he started playing at age three and showed great promise. He took up guitar and the chromatic harmonica around the age of sixteen. He then went on to tour Europe with Benny Goodman in 1950 before moving to the US in 1951 where landed a seat in the George Shearing Quintet, mainly as a guitar player, but also playing some songs on chromatic. Toots made his first solo albums from the late 1950s, including the iconic Man Bites Harmonica. From the 1960s Toots was in great demand as a session musician, recording with many giants of the music industry, such as Bill Evans, Paul Simon and Billy Joel. He also made some notable musical collaborations, including with Jaco Pastorius and Quincy Jones, and recorded on numerous film and tv scores, such as Midnight Cowboy and Sesame Street. Toots had such a long and glorious career that it's hard to do it justice, but this episode attempts to highlight some of the key moments from the undisputed giant of the chromatic harmonica, and one who has inspired pretty much every chromatic player that has followed.
