Thanks for tuning into the podcast Roamers! This week on the Right To Roam Podcast, we continue our multi-episode series that focuses on media’s role in conservation. Chris and Adam are joined by digital asset manager for Seacat Creative, Paul Kemper. Paul and the guys sprint right down the trail of the importance of conservation […]
An elite group of men faced treacherous conditions deep in the Alaskan Wilderness that most would consider a situation of survival. The Seacat Creative crew was on a film project with Backcountry Hunters and Anglers. They were on a multi day float trip through a wilderness in Alaska when they received an alarming call that one of the crew members was having a baby in an emergency situation. They needed to get him out of the wilderness as soon as possible so he could witness the birth of his first child. As planes couldn't land to pick them up, their only option was to float their way out through the worst of weather conditions. Listen how the guys at Seacat Creative tell their story of how they made it out just in time!
Randy is joined by Mark Seacat, Founder of Seacat Creative, as they talk about public land elk hunting and how their vision of hunting is crafted in the media they produce. Topics include mental aspects of hunting success, how finding pleasure in hunting is all about your perspective, that each hunter gets to define his/her definition of success, family being important to the hunting experience, finding happiness in the success of others, aspects of mountaineering that translate well to hunting, is there such thing as a bad hunt, and as always, a bit of marital advice about how to balance family as the top priority with the heavy hunting schedules their work demands.
This episode brings Adam Foss on to the show. From his early days hunting bighorns in Alberta, to his many trips to the High North and his career at Seacat Creative, Adam has charted a path less traveled for the bulk of his young life. As the youngest hunter to achieve his archery FNAWS, Adam's sheep and mountain hunting resume is hard to argue with. But this episode isn't about killing sheep. The two Adams spend the bulk of the podcast digging in on the priceless nature of time spent in the backcountry with family and friends and the future of hunting media. From films to photography and podcasting there;s a message behind everything we put out there as an industry. Adam's insights from behind the lens and from within the media business are not to be missed.
This week on the podcast we visit with Adam Foss. Not only is Adam one of the best bowhunters I know, he is a true ambassador to our sport. Adam along with his brother and father are highly involved with the Wild Sheep Foundation and conservation of wild sheep. Adam has an Archery Grand Slam and many of his hunts can be seen through his amazing work with Sitka films and Seacat Creative.
