I think it's a safe statement to make, that we all are, or have at least at some point, struggled to understand the balance that exists between the three pillars of overall preparedness. Heck, at some points, I'm sure many of us didn't even realize that they existed. That's alright, it's part of the journey, and to a large degree, that journey never stops. You simply have many encounters along the way that shape your mission and your goals. While it can be confusing, once you're able to make sense of what you need to spend money on, what you need to spend time on, and what's actually worth spending your energy on, the picture does become a lot more clear. You can out run budget end tools and equipment with enough training, however no amount of high end kit will ever compensate enough to make up your training deficit. In the same token, neither of those things matter if your mind isn't right and you're pursuing these things for the wrong reasons. So lets talk about it.Visit our sponsors! Our Patreon - www.patreon.com/prepared_mindset_podCustom Night Vision - www.customnightvision.comOne Hundred Concepts - www.onehundredconcepts.com

This week on the Granger Smith Podcast, Granger, Amber, and AntMan tackle a thought-provoking (and surprisingly encouraging) voicemail from a listener who passionately dislikes Granger’s faith and his mentions of Jesus on the air. Together, they break down the message through a biblical lens, discussing what it means to be “hated for your faith” and why such opposition is expected for believers. They share Scripture, personal stories, and even a perspective from outspoken atheist Penn Jillette on why Christians should share the gospel. The episode also includes a big announcement — the podcast is going on the road for a live tour this fall — plus an update on Amber’s upcoming book The Girl on the Bathroom Floor. It’s a conversation about criticism, conviction, and the hope that even one life changed for Christ makes it all worth it. The Granger Smith Podcast presents... Crossing Lines founders Kortnee Borden and Matt Geofroy had spent many years running with Parkdale Roadrunners: they had always been able to find ways to push for their own goals while helping others feel the magic of getting out in equal measure. But when they entered the ultra endurance trail space, they noticed something missing: people of colour. So they decided to take action and create change. Crossing Lines is a movement that is making the ultra endurance space more welcoming for BIPOC runners: they teach people the skills they need to be set up for success and do everything they can to support their journey to the start line. Now deep in their second season, they are getting ready for another huge race and making amazing memories along the way. To broaden the conversation even further, they also host the Crossing Lines Podcast, with their friends Meddy, James and Adam. They talk trails, gear, culture, current events (Harry Styles and MothTech, anyone?) and hang out with interesting guests. Mixerman (Eric Sarafin) is a gold and platinum-selling producer, mixer, engineer, and author whose credits include The Pharcyde, Ben Harper, Spearhead, Lifehouse, Barenaked Ladies, and Foreigner. Known for his no-nonsense approach and razor-sharp insights, Mixerman has spent decades working at the highest levels of the industry—both in iconic L.A. studios and now from his mountain home studio in Asheville, NC. In this episode, Mixerman and I dive deep into the role of the producer—what it really means, how it differs from mixing and engineering, and why musical vision always trumps technical perfection. We talk about his new book, Mixerman's Ultimate GUIDE to PRODUCING Records, Music & Songs, and explore everything from the psychology of studio performance to the pitfalls of overthinking and the dangers of letting the gear drive the session. Whether you're just starting out or you've been producing for years, this conversation is packed with practical wisdom, sharp humor, and hard-won truths. Listen on Apple, Spotify, YouTube Takeaways: Producing ≠ Mixing ≠ Engineering – Mixerman breaks down the distinct roles and responsibilities of a producer, mixer, and engineer, and why blurring the lines can derail a project if you're not careful. The Producer Is the Artist's Advocate – A great producer champions the artist's vision, not their own. It's not about control—it's about making the best possible record with the artist. Don't Be a Gear-Driven Producer – Focusing on tools over results leads to decision paralysis. Gear doesn't make records—people do. Performance Over Perfection – A technically flawless take is worthless if it lacks feel. Great records are built on compelling performances, not clean edits. Producing Is Emotional Management – Producers aren't just sonic decision-makers—they're emotional barometers. Reading the room and managing personalities is part of the gig. Capture the Spark, Then Get Out of the Way – Sometimes the best thing a producer can do is not intervene. Let the magic happen, then shape it later. The Role of Arrangement – Great production often comes down to arrangement: understanding how to leave space, when to add tension, and how to support the song's emotional arc. Don't Chase a Sound—Chase the Song – Trying to copy other artists' sounds can lead you away from authenticity. The song should dictate the production—not trends or references. Learn to Say “That's the Take” – Knowing when a performance is done (even if it's not “perfect”) is part of a producer's superpower. Everything You Need Is Already in the Room – Fancy studios and high-end gear are nice, but great records have been made with far less. What matters is the intention behind the tools. Our guest on this week's episode is James Shefelbine, principal at PraxiChain Consulting. Last week it was announced that Union Pacific Railroad has entered into an agreement to acquire Norfolk Southern. Aside from creating a true transcontinental railroad, it greatly would expand the reach of this historic rail company. But not everyone is onboard with the merger. Who is in favor and who is opposed? What's the likelihood the deal is approved and how might it affect shippers? Our guest offers his expert insights. For the past three years or so, the U.S. truckload industry has been stuck in a freight recession, with demand weakening quarter after quarter. Now, there's debate over whether that freight recession may be over, but even if it is, the sector faces a long uphill climb to get back to where it once was. We report on some new statistics and analysis.Economic activity expanded across the logistics industry in July, driven by strong activity among middle-mile firms that are bearing the brunt of efforts to stay ahead of trade-related uncertainties. That's according to the latest Logistics Managers' Index (LMI) report, which was released this week. Will the expansion continue or was this activity due mostly to a surge of imports trying to beat tariff deadlines?Supply Chain Xchange also offers a podcast series called Supply Chain in the Fast Lane. The digital landscape is shifting beneath our feet as free streaming services continue to vanish. Amazon's Freevee joins the growing list of casualties, leaving consumers with fewer no-cost options while paid services paradoxically charge premium prices yet still bombard viewers with advertisements. This troubling trend prompted a spirited discussion about the psychological tactics companies employ to normalize paying for content that still contains commercials.A fascinating study reveals unexpected insights about our relationships with robots possessing different personality traits. While people generally enjoy interacting with confident, extroverted AI, they find neurotic robots surprisingly relatable—even attributing emotional depth where none exists. This anthropomorphizing tendency raises important questions about how we connect with technology and the blurring lines between human and machine interaction. As one host quipped, "This is technological schizophrenia," highlighting concerns about our growing emotional dependence on artificial companions.Instagram's controversial new policy requiring 1,000 followers to live stream effectively eliminates a feature many small communities relied upon for intimate gatherings. This fundamental shift away from Instagram's original purpose of connecting small groups mirrors broader changes across social media, where platforms continually modify features to prioritize growth and revenue over community building. Yet despite frequent controversial changes, these platforms maintain their user bases, demonstrating the powerful hold they have on our digital social lives. The episode also explores Natura AI, a polarizing new product combining earbuds with an AI assistant that responds to voice commands throughout the day. While one host saw potential benefits in having information instantly available, the other condemned it as promoting social disconnection. This tension between technological convenience and human connection underscores the central theme running through the show—how we navigate the complex relationship between innovation and our fundamental need for authentic human experience.Support the show
