Sharn Coombes is a two time Australian Survivor player, finishing runner up on both seasons, an incredible feat. She was a part of the champions tribe in Survivor Champions vs Contenders, and returned again for All stars in 2019. Sharn holds the record for most challenges won in a single season, and is the first player to ever reach 100 days. Sharn is also one of the top criminal barristers in Australia. Addressing jurys in high profile cases is a normal part of her everyday life. In this podcast we dive into Sharns journey as a criminal barrister, and how she manages the high pressure that the job takes. We unpack the journey on both Survivor seasons, her game changing strategies, and dealing with the heart wrenching twists and turns the game took. Vulnerability is one theme that pops up throughout this conversation, and whether or not you watch Survivor, this podcast is full of encouragement and wisdom that can be applied in any sphere of life.
Law Graduates Emma Connolly and Lachlan Hallab look at lawyers and reality television, particularly focussing on Sharn Coombes - two-time runner up of Australian Survivor.
It's difficult to imagine that reality TV stars and lawyers have all that much in common, but according to "Survivor All-Stars" runner-up and barrister Sharn Coombes, the skill sets are more synonymous than they appear. On this episode of The Lawyers Weekly Show, Sharn joins host Jerome Doraisamy to reveal what inspired her to apply for the show, the difficulties of balancing her contractual obligations to Survivor and her duties to her clients, and how she kept herself intellectually stimulated throughout her experience on the island. Sharn also shares why Survivor strengthened her skills as a barrister, how she predicts COVID-19 will affect lawyers' resilience, and whether her celebrity status influences the dynamics in court proceedings.
