The owners of the horse show, Valitar, are a wealthy, conventionally attractive couple called the Remley's. Mark Remley is a little bit older. Perhaps nerdy, but the type of guy to get into peak shape later in life. Tatyana Remley is his wife with bottle blonde hair and a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model body. She's also the main star of the Valitar horse show. The Remley's invested over $20 million dollars into the show, just to lose every single penny of it after multiple scandals back to back. Allegedly, horses were abandoned with nothing to eat and massive creative differences led to performers quitting. Former staff members would come out to allege that Tatyana Remley doesn't even know how to ride a horse that well… Later, the couple is featured on TV as a well known swinger's couple, a pillar in the local sex-swinging community. That's just a side quest though; the most scandalous thing that happened at Valitar was the decapitated horse head on the Remley's marital bed. Thankfully, it's not an actual butchered horse head. It's just a hunk from one of their very expensive statues in their $5.5 million dollar home near San Diego, California. And it's clearly not been placed there as a mistake. This is a targeted threat. And by the end of the investigation, one of the Remleys, the founders of the failed multi-million dollar Valitar horse show, will be dead. this week on Delusional Diaries, Halley and Jaz are truly going to take you on a rollercoaster of chatting & beyond. from unexpectedly feeling way too much empathy during high-stakes sports games to realizing that escapism shouldn't cause anxiety, they unpack the little thoughts that spiral into way bigger conversations. what starts as football stress quickly turns into a debate about why caring too much can be exhausting, and why sometimes you just want your entertainment to be fun, not emotionally taxing.the girls also get into music moods, pop culture obsessions, and the shows that shaped them. from rethinking sad-girl playlists and romanticizing The Bold Type as peak twenties escapism, to loving Zara Larsson's comeback and needing to be “in on” whatever show the internet is obsessing over, it's a full deep dive into comfort culture. along the way, they talk celebrity sightings, influencer life, social media chaos, and the weird pressure of always being online.as always, the episode wraps with classic H & J shenanigans: procrastination confessions, friendship dynamics, hypothetical life questions, beauty honesty, and hot takes on cheating, botox, baby names, and becoming a “real” New Yorker. it's funny, self-aware, slightly unhinged, and very much giving “two best friends talking on the couch about everything and nothing” (exactly how we like it).Timestamps0:18 - Stressed about sports4:10 - Finding the happy songs 14:45 - Bitching hour 19:00 - Procrastinator (kinda of) 30:50 - Losing at an award show 45:26 - Reality TV show dating Links SeatGeek - Use our code for 10% off your next SeatGeek order*:https://seatgeek.onelink.me/RrnK/DELUSIONAL10 Sponsored by SeatGeek. Reality TV isn't just weekend entertainment. It's a blueprint for brand building. That's the lesson of Summer House, Bravo's long-running hit that turns everyday interactions into year-round engagement. In this episode, we break down its marketing lessons with the help of our special guest Kelly Cheng, Chief Marketing Officer at Goldcast.Together, we explore what B2B marketers can learn from playing the long game with their audience, making marketing more human by building in public, and creating a steady stream of content that keeps you top of mind long after the season ends.About our guest, Kelly ChengKelly Cheng is a seasoned marketing executive with over a decade of experience driving growth and leading successful marketing strategies for high-performing technology companies. As the Chief Marketing Officer at Goldcast, she is responsible for spearheading the company's global marketing initiatives, including brand development, demand generation, and digital marketing.Prior to her current role, Kelly served as the VP of Marketing at Goldcast, where she played a pivotal role in the company's successful rebrand and the implementation of a data-driven marketing approach. Before joining Goldcast, she held marketing leadership positions at Wistia and Dynatrace, where she demonstrated her expertise in growth marketing, media optimization, and digital acquisition strategies. Kelly's diverse background also includes experience in media planning and digital marketing at PagerDuty and Havas Media Group.Kelly holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from Boston University, where she graduated cum laude and was recognized for her academic excellence. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Summer House:Build long-term relationships with your audience. Reality TV wins through continuity. Keeping familiar faces and building trust season after season. Kelly explains, “The continuity piece is really important. Throughout the nine seasons, there's a lot of OGs that have been around since season one, and you really, really build that rapport with the audience, and people are super invested in what you do next.” In B2B, the same applies. Consistency and ongoing storytelling help audiences feel emotionally connected, not just informed. Your series or campaign shouldn't end when engagement dips. It should evolve, deepen, and reward loyalty.Build in public. Kelly draws a parallel between following a cast across nine seasons and showing your brand's journey transparently. “You're following on for nine years, learning about their development over time... It's kind of like building in public…I could just put up a show and say watch me learn about AI in marketing and watch me win and watch me fail.” B2B marketers can use this approach to humanize their brand: sharing learnings, experiments, and even missteps. The more your audience sees your process, the more invested they become in your success.Capture year-round mindshare through consistent content. Bravo doesn't just rely on one show. They have built an ecosystem that keeps fans engaged across formats and seasons. Kelly notes, “They're just really, really good at turning out content that people want to consume to keep them top of mind… There's an extra 10 months that you have to make sure that you have got air cover so people don't forget about you.” The lesson: don't go dark between campaigns. Extend your reach with follow-up content, micro-clips, events, and spin-offs. Sustained storytelling turns fleeting interest into durable brand awareness.Quote“I think there's a lot of learning in making B2B marketing a bit more human and drawing those learnings from reality TV about building in public. Because at the end of the day, you're selling software to help an individual that will ultimately help an organization.”Time Stamps[00:55] Meet Kelly Cheng, Chief Marketing Officer at Goldcast[01:08] Why Summer House?[07:13] What is Summer House?[17:37] B2B Marketing Takeaways from Summer House[36:43] Goldcast's Approach to Marketing[42:28] Goldcasts' Upcoming Agent Launches[43:29] Advice for CMOs[44:25] Final Thoughts and TakeawaysLinksConnect with Kelly on LinkedInLearn more about GoldcastAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. Sarah has a new guilty pleasure called Members Only, but she says it's more like Real Housewives of Mar-a-Lago. We hear why she is fascinated by these ladies (and their clothing). We debate the virtues of changing your last name when you get married, and how certificates and diplomas should be amendable if you change your name. We learn the benefits of pet ownership according to science, and whether it is better or worse for your happiness than having children. Susie wants you all to know it is certainly better than having a teenager. Sarah explains, at long last, what the appendix even does and why it's more important than most people realize. And Susie tells the story of her friend who had to have her appendix removed because she tried to beat Cher in a feat of strength. This is a true and hilarious story. And we find out about a device that measures your child's vitals, and can alert parents of an impending temper tantrum, and we hear whether it's effective in preventing or reducing their severity.Brain Candy Podcast Website - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/Brain Candy Podcast Book Recommendations - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/books/Brain Candy Podcast Merchandise - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/candy-store/Brain Candy Podcast Candy Club - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/product/candy-club/Brain Candy Podcast Sponsor Codes - https://thebraincandypodcast.com/support-us/Brain Candy Podcast Social Media & Platforms:Brain Candy Podcast LIVE Interactive Trivia Nights - https://www.youtube.com/@BrainCandyPodcast/streamsBrain Candy Podcast Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/braincandypodcastHost Susie Meister Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/susiemeisterHost Sarah Rice Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/imsarahriceBrain Candy Podcast on X: https://www.x.com/braincandypodBrain Candy Podcast Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/braincandy (JOIN FREE - TONS OF REALITY TV CONTENT)Brain Candy Podcast Sponsors, partnerships, & Products that we love:For 50% off your order, head to https://www.dailylook.com and use code BRAINCANDYGet 60% off your first order, plus free shipping, when you head to https://www.smalls.com/braincandyThis episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. It is a privilege to welcome actress and singer Kim Yarbrough back to The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar brand (and for the first time on the podcast) for the first time in 14 years! Many Reality TV fans first saw Kim Yarbrough audition for The Voice USA: Season Two in Spring 2012. Her powerful interpretation of Chaka Khan's “Tell Me Something Good” turned both founding coaches' chairs, Adam Levine and Christina Aguilera, around. After joining Team Adam, Kim wowed the audience with her cover of Mary J. Blige's “No More Drama” and advanced to the Season Two Live Playoffs. During The Voice: Season Two Live Playoffs, she sang Adele's “Rolling in the Deep” but fell into the Bottom Three. After delivering a superb, powerful cover of Jennifer Hudson's “Spotlight,” the Maroon 5 frontman chose to advance Kim's then teammate, Katrina Parker, to the Top 16. After her appearance on the NBC talent competition, Al Roker, Hoda Kotb, and Kathie Lee Gifford interviewed her on Today, and she sang with the Roots on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. Over the years, Kim dove deep into the entertainment industry. She guest-starred on several television shows, including 2 Broke Girls, 9-1-1, Hollywood Heights, Hot in Cleveland, Kenan, The Mindy Project, New Girl, Shameless, and The Up-Shaws. Kim also had recurring roles in Cherish the Day (Aunt Natalie), The Haunted Hathaways (Madame Labuef), and the animated series Kid Cosmic (Flo (voice)). In addition, Kim lent her voice to the Oscar-winning animated film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. She also shared the stage and screen with entertainment industry legends, including Dennis Quaid, Loretta Devine, Octavia Spencer, Cedric the Entertainer, Stevie Wonder, Sheila E, and the late Betty White and her mentor Della Reese, who produced the stage show Della Reese Presents Kim Yarbrough, which allowed Kim to showcase her talents to the Hollywood Entertainment Community. On this episode of The Jake's Take with Jacob Elyachar Podcast, Kim Yarbrough spoke about voice acting, tutoring students in the arts, and if she would ever audition for America's Got Talent or wait for a future All-Stars season of The Voice USA. Before becoming a podcaster, Jennifer Welch had a successful career as an interior designer and co-starred in a reality show on Bravo. But, since 2022, she and Angie Sullivan, her co-host on the podcast “I've Had It,” have gained millions of fans as a sounding board for left-leaning political frustrations. These aren't only concerns about MAGA but also about the Democratic establishment that she views as captive to a corporate agenda. Welch talks with David Remnick about her contentious interviews with Cory Booker and Rahm Emanuel, her belief in “dark woke,” and how a white Oklahoma woman in her fifties emerged as one of the most provocative voices on today's left.
