New Year service from St Peter's Free Church, Dundee. Led by Alasdair MacLeod - Psalm 85
Morning service from St Peter's Free Church, Dundee. Led by John Ferguson, preacher David Robertson: "Salvation Refused" - Romans 10:16-21
Keiran Turner of the Evangelical Alliances joins Al Smith in the studio to talk about Speak Up, the new resource for Christians that about the law across the UK for sharing the Gospel in public, in private, at work, at church, on the street and online. You can download or read the full version at www.GreatCommission.co.uk/speakup "About time! We have needed something like Speak Up for a long time. It is balanced, informative, clear, well-written, wise, biblical and incredibly helpful. Some Christians think it is illegal for us to share our faith, others almost seem to think it is immoral and yet others are just confused about how and what we can say. This short publication not only sets out the legal position but gives us wise biblical advice which is directly applied to the culture we live in, not the one we used to live in, or the one we wished we lived in. It’s good news that we have the good news and it’s good news that we can tell the good news. Every church and Christian in the UK should have a copy of this wonderful resource." Mike Lee aka "The Religious Antagonist" is a US atheist who makes YouTube videos mocking Christianity. His videos are popular but his approach earns him both praise and criticism from fellow atheists. David Robertson is Pastor of St Peter's Free Church, Dundee and director of the Solas Centre for Public Christianity. He often interacts with atheists online and has earned himself the title "the wee flea" for his provocative interactions on the Dawkins website. David and Mike debate whether Mike's approach is a helpful one. David accuses Mike of emotional atheism and an incoherent view of Christianity. Mike says mocking Christianity is the best way of policing its power in the US. Are societies better off with the influence of Christianity? Are Christians more caring than atheists? What role should faith play in society? Just some of the questions explored by atheist Michael Shermer and Christian David Robertson. Michael Shermer is president of the US Skeptics Society and Editor of its magazine "Skeptic". He claims that there are various ways in which Christianity has had a negative influence on society and that a Christian worldview is unnecessary for living a good life. David Robertson is pastor of St Peter's Free Church in Dundee, Scotland and author of "The Dawkins Letters". He says that true Christianity has been a force for good and continues to empower people to live better lives.
