If intelligent design is so apparent in living organisms and in the cosmos, why don't more people accept it? Here on part two of our conversation with President of Reasons to Believe, biochemist, author, and apologist, Dr. Fuz Rana, we explore this question and reveal how people do in fact recognize design, but yet suppress that truth. Fuz will give us some winsome wisdom about how we as Christians can intelligently engage in the theology-science dialogue and help unbelievers see Christ more clearly. Fuz's Testimony and Background: "As a graduate student studying biochemistry, I was captivated by the cell's complexity, elegance, and sophistication. The inadequacy of evolutionary scenarios to account for life's origin compelled me to conclude that life must come from a Creator. Reading through the Sermon on the Mount convinced me that Jesus really was who Christians claimed him to be: Lord and Savior. Still, encouraging others to join me in following Christ wasn't important to me—until my father died. His death changed that. In 1999, I left my position in research and development at a Fortune 500 company to join Reasons to Believe. I felt the most important thing I could do as a scientist was to show Christians and non-Christians alike the powerful scientific evidence for God's existence and for the reliability of the Bible."Free Resources from Watchman Fellowship Naturalism: https://www.watchman.org/Naturalism/ProfileNaturalism.pdfScientism: https://www.watchman.org/scientism/ProfileScientism.pdfPanpsychism: https://www.watchman.org/files/ProfilePanpsychism.pdfAtheism: https://www.watchman.org/profiles/pdf/atheismprofile.pdfAdditional ResourcesFREE: We are also offering a subscription to our 4-page bimonthly Profiles here: www.watchman.org/FreePROFILE NOTEBOOK: Order the complete collection of Watchman Fellowship Profiles (around 700 pages -- from Astrology to Zen Buddhism) in either printed or PDF formats here: www.watchman.org/NotebookSUPPORT: Help us create more content like this. "Evolution is a settled fact!" we're often told by scientists, science popularizers, and probably have seen this statement not a few times on social media. But there has been another, perhaps less-noticed trend in the evolutionary sciences today. There is an ever-increasing academic dissent against evolution by means of natural selection as the best explanation for the variety of life we see on Earth today. The more scientists probe the wonders of living organisms, and the stunningly overwhelming variety of species that exist today, the more improbable the Neo-Darwinian account of the diversification of species seems to many. This week on the Profile we feature a conversation with the President of Reasons to Believe, biochemist, author, and Christian apologist Dr. Fuz Rana. We'll discuss some of the key reasons why intelligent design in biology is seemingly making a comeback. We go beyond mere intelligent design though, and discuss the specifics of how design in biology and in the universe points us back to Scripture and ultimately to Christ. An astrophysicist and founder of Reasons to Believe argues the universe looks increasingly designed for life — while a cosmologist challenges whether fine-tuning proves anything at all. If we're alone in the cosmos, the implications are staggering. If we're not, it could change science, religion, and humanity's future forever. Hugh Ross is an astrophysicist, founder of Reasons to Believe, and author focused on the intersection of science and faith. We cover: - Why the search for extraterrestrial life may be making Earth look more unique - Whether fine-tuning points to a Creator or a multiverse - What happens if AI becomes the dominant intelligence in the universe - Why scientists increasingly believe intelligent aliens exist despite lacking evidence - The cosmic time windows that make human existence possible Can hope survive in a universe that eventually dies? **PLEASE TURN UP THE VOLUME TO HEAR THIS INTERVIEW**Go underground with me and Hugh to Midian as we dove back into the history of Clive Barker's Nightbreed as the legendary actor had so much to say about his character, Narcisse. We spoke about his character's presence in the film and how it had a huge impact on the horror community. His iconic scene in the psychiatric hospital, where his character peels his face off has been deemed as a memorable moment in horror history. Hugh delivered this role flawlessly; Narcisse is still a beloved character, and we think it has some type of connection with those who are looking to be accepted. With a loyal and endearing nature, how could you not love Narcisse?
Send us Fan MailEpisode 116 – The 3rd Person Narration/Paul Schneider/Nick Cave Standoff: The Assassination of Jesse Jame by the Coward Robert Ford v. Train Dreams. All aboard episode 116 of the Triple F—chugging along the tracks laid by legendary filmmaker Terrence Malick, we're discussing two noteworthy films that closely follow his style in recounting tales of the American experience star ting with 2007's The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, directed by Andrew Dominik and starring Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, Sam Shepard, Sam Rockwell, Jeremy Renner, Paul Schneider, Garret Dillahunt, Mary-Louise Parker, Alison Elliott, Zooey Deschanel, Ted Levine, Michael Parks, James Carville, with Hugh Ross as narrator—up against Clint Bentley's Train Dreams, recently watched and retroactively crowned king of the 2025 film mountain, starring Joel Edgerton, Felicity Jones, William H. Macy, John Diehl, Kerry Condon, Paul Schneider again, Clifton Collins Jr., and Will Patton as narrator, a film that echoes Dominik's approach through its third-person narration, recurring Paul Schneider presence, and a Nick Cave–inflected musical sensibility. Covering me with their scatterguns this week are my usual duo of bushwackers, my kid sis and snooty bookworm Roseanne Caputi and slit-eyed outlaw with enough oat and barley in his voice to give Will Patton and Hugh Ross a run for their money, the one and only Gordon Alex Robertson. Before we start shoveling coal into the engines, the synopses: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert FordOutlaw Jesse James, increasingly paranoid and unpredictable, surrounds himself with a dwindling gang that no longer knows whether he's losing his grip, giving up, or testing their loyalty. Among them is Robert Ford, a devoted admirer whose presence only adds to the tension as trust breaks down within the group. In Train Dreams Robert Grainger, a railroad laborer in the early 20th-century American West, struggles to build a life as isolation and personal loss reshape his world. Are these films of comparable quality or does one tower over the other?Find out!Watch the video version on youtube:

Astrophysicist and apologist Hugh Ross returns to the blurry basement to talk about his new book, Noah's Flood Revisited, and the case he's making that the Genesis flood account is scientifically credible when read literally and historically. Hugh walks through why he believes the flood was universal to all humanity but not necessarily global in geographic scope, how no Christian scholar explicitly argued for a global flood until the 17th century, and why the Bible itself, in Job, Psalms, and Proverbs, may rule out water covering the entire planet after creation day three. He also unpacks Noah's overlooked role as a prophet, the "two books" framework of nature and scripture, and why this passage is by far the most ridiculed section of the Bible among skeptics and believers alike. The conversation goes deep on ancient human migration, the dating of the flood to a possible Ice Age event tens of thousands of years ago, the Nephilim and what Genesis 6:4 actually says about their return, and how 300+ flood legends across the Americas support a pre-migration event. Hugh also drops news about a forthcoming book on ETI and UAPs, talks about why ancient peoples weren't as ignorant as we assume, and shares why getting skeptics past the flood narrative might be the key to getting them all the way to Jesus. We trace the argument's roots from Aquinas and Paley to modern thinkers like Dembski, Behe, Gonzalez, and Hugh Ross. Along the way, we define key concepts like specified complexity and irreducible complexity, and contrast them with evolutionary and naturalistic explanations.Whether you're a skeptic or believer, philosopher or layperson, this episode lays the foundation for a robust, layered discussion of one of the most compelling arguments for the existence of God.Find our videocast here: https://youtu.be/kG7l4EWu-LAMerch here: https://take-2-podcast.printify.me/Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!):https://uppbeat.io/t/reakt-music/deep-stoneLicense code: 2QZOZ2YHZ5UTE7C8Find more Take 2 Theology content at http://www.take2theology.com
God's creation shows us His invisible attributes. He uses His creation to lead us to Christ, through whom and for whom the entirety of the heavens and earth were made (Colossians 1). Daniel Ray recently met a former atheist who became a Christian and who has recently completed the final edits on a remarkable docudrama film about the cosmos and how it all points us to Jesus. The film is called Universe Designed and it is the passion project of our guest on Apologetics for the next two weeks, filmmaker Michael Ray Lewis. Universe Designed rivals anything produced by National Geographic or the Discovery Channel, without the naturalism of course, and is entirely Christ-centered. It is due to be released sometime toward the end of this year. Here on part one, Michael shares with us his story about how God began a good work in his life. For more information about the film Universe Designed, visit the official website at https://www.UniverseDesigned.comResources from Watchman Fellowship: Watchman Fellowship 4-page Profile on Scientism by Dr. Luke Barnes and Daniel Ray: www.watchman.org/Scientism Watchman Fellowship 4-page Profile on Carl Sagan's Cosmos by Daniel Ray: www.watchman.org/CosmosTV Watchman Fellowship 4-page Profile on Naturalism by Daniel Ray: www.watchman.org/Naturalism Book: The Story of the Cosmos by Daniel Ray:www.watchman.org/CosmosBook FREE: We are also offering a subscription to our 4-page bimonthly Profiles here: www.watchman.org/Free.PROFILE NOTEBOOK: Order the complete collection of Watchman Fellowship Profiles (over 600 pages -- from Astrology to Zen Buddhism) in either printed or PDF formats here: www.watchman.org/notebook. Can you believe in biblical inerrancy AND hold to the old earth creation model? There's been an intramural debate brewing between old earth and young creationists, and some evangelical scholars say it's time to rethink the bedrock doctrine of biblical inerrancy for Christianity to remain viable in the intellectual sphere. But what do the Scriptures, along with what we can observe scientifically, reveal about creation and the age of the earth?Astrophysicist and Christian apologist, Dr. Hugh Ross, joins Frank from the SES 2024 Steadfast conference to discuss questions like:How does science demonstrate that there was a creation event? Is Genesis 1 a polemic against the Egyptian creation story?Does the Bible leave the age of the earth as indeterminate? When was Adam created and what does Dr. Ross think of William Lane Craig's view of the historical Adam?Does a person's belief about the age of the earth affect their salvation? How do young earth creations address the scientific evidence for an old earth?Did God artificially age the universe? What about neanderthals?Should Genesis 1-11 be interpreted differently than the rest of the book?Whether you're a young or old earth creationist, this podcast episode will be packed with plenty of information that could challenge or bring clarity to your perspective on when and how God created the universe.Resources mentioned during the episode:RESCUING INERRANCY (BOOK): https://a.co/d/7p9qKeXHUGH ROSS' MINISTRY: https://reasons.org/
