Angelo and Casey return to absolutely destroy and deconstruct Voltron Legendary Defender Seasons 6 and 7. Also, correcting an error from last episode, in this episode we ACTUALLY cover Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass. Jaime also joins in to discuss Disenchantment.
Shannon Muir joins us to review the final episode of Season 5 of Voltron Legendary Defender: White Lion. As we prepare for the launch of Season 6 on Netflix, we review the Season 6 trailer and some images that have been released from DreamWorks Animation. Shannon Muir has been on the podcast several times before, but for those of you who are hearing her on the podcast for the first time, here's a little bit about her writing: Shannon was originally a guest on the podcast for our 2-Part look at Voltron: The Third Dimension. She has provided some insight into people that have a direct connection with this show at DreamWorks Animation and WEP, from days of long ago. Shannon also wrote a Tumblr page article with her full review, which is now supplemented by her insight provided here on the podcast. You can check out her Tumblr article here: http://www.animatedinsights.com/ The Season 6 Trailer was released last Tuesday, June 5, 2018. And it immediately became the most shared trailer of all of the Voltron Legendary Defender Seasons. In addition to the trailer, several images were released by DreamWorks Animation for Season 6. We talk about the trailer and these images in this podcast. Here (below) is the link to the trailer and some of those images: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMRvbPZUILs Here are some screenshots from Episode 6 of Season 5 of Voltron Legendary Defender: White Lion: Next Friday, June 15, 2018, Season 6 of Voltron Legendary Defender launches on Netflix at 12 AM PDT. Chris is back! Fellow indie animator Ben Reynolds makes his debut! I can't stop using exclamation points! We talk a healthy variety of topics this week, from opening discussions and projects that drive our longtime message "Animation is hard" home, to Ben's thoughts on the recent Netflix series Altered Carbon, and Chris and John finally dishing out their feelings about Dragon Ball FighterZ after months of personal hype. But the bulk of the episode goes to Ben's pick of another ongoing Netflix exclusive, as the three of us talk about the characters, action, writing, and other ingredients that make Voltron: Legendary Defender (Seasons 1 & 2 to be specific) something special. Expect some observations on older incarnations of the franchise, Studio Trigger aliens voiced by Norman Reedus, why emo Coran is the best, issues with mech transformation scenes, how Chris can go ahead loving Lance all by his lonesome, and a horrifying Google search that has blessed you with this episode's thumbnail. Plus, listen to the end for our roadmap regarding the next two episodes.
