Offenbar entsteht gerade so etwas wie ein „John Wick Cinematic Universe“ (JWCU), in der Auftragskiller komplexen Regeln unterliegen. Das ganze mit einer kleinen Portion Steampunk und einer winzigen Prise Märchen. Dazu ein starkes Ensemble hervorragender Nebendarsteller – zum Beispiel Ian McShane und der leider schon verstorbene Lance Reddick. Da passt Ana de Armas sehr gut hinein, die hier weitermacht, wo sie bei James Bond (NO TIME TO DIE) aufgehört hat. Die Geschichte ist nicht weiter von Bedeutung – es geht wieder einmal um Rache. Aber die zwei Stunden sind wie ein Showdown mit immer wechselnden Schauplätzen, Gegnern und Waffen inszeniert. Und da sind schon ein paar neue Ideen und Überraschungen dabei – der Einfallsreichtum (die Schlittschuhe!) und die Dichte und das Tempo der Kampfszenen und Schusswechsel sorgen dafür, dass BALLERINA ein sehr würdiger Beitrag zum JWCU ist. Zugegeben: Man muss schon ein Herz für das Genre haben, aber dann wird man auch mit ein paar Minuten Keanu Reeves belohnt. Besonders hervorzuheben ist das deutlich verbesserte Kampfsystem, das mehr taktische Optionen bietet und sich organischer in den Spielfluss integriert. Das macht die Konfrontationen spannender und abwechslungsreicher. Trotz dieser Verbesserungen bleibt Death Stranding 2 ein Spiel, das Geduld erfordert und nicht jeden ansprechen wird. Die langen Zwischensequenzen und das teils gemächliche Erzähltempo könnten manchen Spielern zu viel sein. Wer sich jedoch auf dieses einzigartige Abenteuer einlässt, wird mit einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis belohnt, das zum Nachdenken anregt und in der aktuellen Gaming-Landschaft seinesgleichen sucht. Insgesamt ist Death Stranding 2 ein mutiger, künstlerisch anspruchsvoller und spielerisch tiefgründiger Titel, der die Erwartungen übertrifft und das Potenzial des Mediums voll ausschöpft. Es ist ein Spiel, das man erleben muss.

It is the fifth installment in the John Wick franchise, and it is set between the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019) and Chapter 4 (2023). It stars Ana de Armas as the ballerina/assassin Eve Macarro, alongside Gabriel Byrne, Catalina Sandino Moreno, and Norman Reedus. Among those reprising their roles from the previous films include Anjelica Huston, Lance Reddick (in his final screen appearance), Ian McShane, and Keanu Reeves.Lionsgate acquired Hatten's spec script for the spin-off film in 2017, leading to him contributing to the final script for Parabellum and serving as the lead writer for Chapter 4. In October 2019, Wiseman was hired as director; Chad Stahelski, who had directed the previous John Wick films, was confirmed as a producer by May 2020. Ballerina was officially announced in April 2022, with de Armas confirmed as the lead. Principal photography occurred from November 2022 to January 2023 in Prague; additional action sequences were shot starting in February 2024.Ballerina was released in the United States on June 6, 2025. From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, which will probably take the cake as the longest movie title of the year, has FINALLY hit theaters. If you couldn't tell from the title, this is the LONG delayed John Wick spin-off starring Ana de Armas, which actually takes place between John Wick: Chapter 3 and John Wick: Chapter 4. It has, by the way, now been over two years since John Wick: Chapter 4 came out. Time flies, but that also means that my excitement for this film has just been waning and waning since it was announced. This expansion of the John Wick universe is probably one of the most baffling things I've seen from Hollywood recently. As interesting as the world of John Wick is, I still wholeheartedly believe that Keanu Reeves and Chad Stahelski's action directing is the draw of those movies. Add on top of my skepticism of turning everything into a cinematic universe all the news of this movie not really working and needing multiple rounds of reshoots, I went in skeptical. So, is Ballerina a worthy addition to the franchise?
