After this point, the intense summer heat begins to fade, and we gradually transition into cooler days. Hello everyone, welcome to『千里之外』(qiān lǐ zhī waì)! A Thousand Miles aims to teach Chinese idioms with historical background, fun facts, and engaging stories with culture perspectives for Chinese language learners or anyone who is interested in Chinese culture. We will start from the very beginning of ancient China, all the way until the modern era. The thirteenth of the 24 solar terms we're introducing is Lìqiū, which falls on either August 7th, 8th, or 9th each year. As we explained earlier in the previous episodes, the word “Lì” means “beginning,” so Lìqiū marks the beginning of autumn.
