For some reason in America we have glorified “busy” to the point where we gain self worth from a packed schedule. Have you noticed that? A feeling of “I must be important because I have back to back meetings, on a board of directors, and a Delta Medallion Flyer”. But do we take time to think about the question – “at what cost?” How can we separate “busy” from “productive”? I want to live a meaningful and productive life, not one that is busy like a hamster running on a wheel.
Life has various seasons, and they all are beautiful. Every season provides an opportunity to dream big and take action daily. To bite an elephant - it just may look different than we imagined! We need to be sure that our elephants align with our priorities, dreams and relationships. After all, our time is a precious resource that we can spend any way we want…once.
“It is wild to me how sometimes people get to this point and they turn around” I said. He paused and thought for a moment and responded with what turned out to be a very teachable moment for me. He shared that there are many times in life when we need to have the wisdom and courage to turn around. There is strength in having the wisdom to know when we don’t need to pursue any further and the courage to walk away.
