E5. Got a Significant Other? Are you Unemployed? | Heather Ann Koehn

Are you in a relationship or are you being supported by family? ... I'm specifically directing this question at those that are or ever have been in transition. It's a rough situation, am I right? I mean, we all want a new role, but it's a special feat in 2020 to find a role earning more than $45K or 100% commission. Between the pandemic, the recession and the political turmoil it's a special time to be alive. It's particularly important to have active support of loved ones. This includes romantic interests, immediate family, extended family and friends. Unemployment is hard on all of them too. They are either directly financially impacted or they live in great fear that it will happen to them and are living the strife, depression and occasional bouts of fear through you, am I right? I know I am. You know I am. The best posture is cool, calm, collected ... even jovial, but of course not too jovial. Everyone that is unemployed is told by others to enjoy this time, but enjoyment is elusive when stress is high. Even at the best of times, each of us buries the stress because of course, who wants to see that? No one. The strategy: Keep on keeping on. Cool. Calm. Collected. Panic under Wraps. I hope you enjoy this episode. A special thanks to my family. Heather Ann --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/projectlightitup/message

E4. The Mental Trauma of Unemployment | Heather Ann Koehn

Downsizing is one with mental trauma. Unemployment is particularly difficult for those going through it the first time. Being unemployed requires appropriate coping mechanisms and in the ideal scenario, the person in transition successfully embraces it and thrives during the perceived chaos. Unemployment can be a great gift when people leverage the time, and urgency to recognize how to level up their skills in an applied way, but also to volunteer in their community to build more expansive networks. Community. Entrepreneurship. Business. This trifecta is everything, particularly when one is in transition. Heather Ann --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/projectlightitup/message

Ever feel like flourishing in life just shouldn't be so difficult? Yes, me too. In 2019 I found myself working for a 'reputable' person well known in the community. What I did not know, is that this person had an unsavory addiction - cocaine. Crazy life experiences find me and I them. This is the story of that experience and how it matters to you, should you too decide to step forward and begin to freelance ... or know someone that currently does. Enjoy. E2. A Play by Play of 2020 | Heather Ann Koehn

Feel like you have brain fog surrounding 2020? I'm thankful to say that I was eerily alert this entire year and as lucid as a person could be. I conducted 1200 one-on-one calls between March through late August in an effort to source my next role as a senior leader in marketing. What I learned was that humanity desperately needed a connection, and everyone was living a shell-shocked life with few outlets to share. I served as one of those critical contacts for people. I invited vulnerable conversations and shared quite a bit about my experience, tactics and connected people with people in my strongest experience yet as a master networker and connector during personal crisis for me, and all of those that surrounded me - job seekers, entrepreneurs and those employed in traditional corporate roles. This episode details that experience, and the wide swath of that experience and critical substories that need to be told. Welcome back to Employment Straight Talk. I'm here to help you recognize the past, the present, and the future to help you Scale Your Life. Heather Ann --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/projectlightitup/message
