Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth is taking heat from all sides. A growing number of members of Congress, both Democrat and Republican, are vowing to provide special oversight after his the "Kill Them All" order took out two people dangling from the wreckage of a boat off the coast of Venezuela. Whether the boat was being used by fishermen or to run drugs is at question, as is whether the men posed a clear and present danger to the United States. If allegations of war crimes in that case weren't enough, the result of Pentagon's Signalgate review conclude that Hegseth violated military regulations when he used the unsecure chat platform to discuss details of US strikes in Yemen. What are the legal ramifications, if any? We'll ask former federal prosecutor David Katz to weigh in.
In this NBN episode, host Hollay Ghadery interviews acclaimed Alberta poet Rayanne Haines about her book, What Kind of Daughter (Frontenac House Press, 2024). What Kind of Daughter? is a poetic memoir by Rayanne Haines that considers identity and gender expectations while exploring the public perception of the space between the spaces we inhabit during periods of grieving, whether that grieving is based in loss of self or the loss of another. In this hybrid collection of poetry and essay, Haines reflects on her life growing up in rural Alberta, and considers the loss of her mother to cancer while asking questions such as how do we steer through holding patterns of almost grief, how do we navigate the terrain of discovery, how do we journey through the burden of care? In, What Kind of Daughter? Haines reflects on the choices women are asked to make and challenges readers to reflect on the way we value, devalue, or simply exist within the spaces of gender and grief. About Rayanne Haines: Rayanne Haines (she/her) is an award-winning hybrid author and pushcart nominated poet as well as a cultural producer of films, stage shows, and panels. Rayanne has penned three poetry collections – The Stories in My Skin (2013), Stained with the Colours of Sunday Morning (Inanna, 2017), and Tell The Birds Your Body Is Not A Gun (Frontenac, 2021) which won the 2022 Stephan G. Stephansson, Alberta Literary Award for Poetry as well as being shortlisted for both the BPAA Robert Kroetsch Award for Poetry, and the National ReLit Award for Poetry. She hosts the literary podcast Crow Reads, is the president for the League of Canadian Poets, and is an Assistant Professor in Arts and Cultural Management at MacEwan University. Rayanne has been published in the Globe and Mail, Minola Review, Fiddlehead, Grain, FreeFall, Prairie Fire, and others. Learn more about your ad choices. College sports aren't just expensive; they are financially upside down. In this episode of Sportly, host Kavitha Davidson sits down with Washington Post college sports reporter Jesse Dougherty for a sharp, clear-eyed breakdown of the NCAA's spiraling money crisis. The episode cuts through the noise to explain: Why coaching salaries and buyouts have exploded to NFL-level numbers How the new $20 million athlete compensation model actually works Why boosters now influence hiring and firing more than ever How NIL changed the landscape in ways the NCAA never anticipated Why minor sports are being cut even as revenues hit the billions Whether private equity and Congress can fix any of this or make it worse Dougherty brings deep reporting and uncommon clarity to one of the most misunderstood issues in sports: the real economics of college athletics. You'll hear what's driving the spending arms race, what's myth vs. reality, and whether the current NCAA model is even sustainable. If you care about NIL, athlete pay, conference realignment, or how college sports became a financial runaway train, this interview delivers the insight you've been looking for. The death of 18-year-old Anna Kepner is not just another tragic case — it's a collision of panic, secrecy, and a blended family imploding in real time. Found hidden under a bed on a cruise ship, wrapped and concealed, Anna's final moments are surrounded by unanswered questions and emotionally charged reactions from nearly every member of her family. Tonight on Hidden Killers, I sit down with retired FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke to cut through the noise and focus on the behavioral reality inside that small cabin. Because cases like this aren't just about evidence — they're about human choices under pressure. We look at the concealment: Why was Anna hidden? What does that typically signal in juvenile behavior? Where is the line between immaturity-driven panic and intentional wrongdoing? We examine the claim from the grandmother that the 16-year-old “doesn't remember what happened.” Is that trauma? Dissociation? Avoidance? Or something investigators hear when the truth is too overwhelming to say out loud? We explore what happens when adults make catastrophic decisions — like placing teenagers with known tension in the same sleeping quarters — and how that shapes what happens next. And then there's the public chaos: the stepmother pleading the Fifth, the biological mother spiraling on social media, relatives accusing each other, all while a teen girl is gone. Robin breaks down how investigators filter useful behavior from emotional theater and why public performance can sometimes be a clue in itself. This is the interview that strips away the speculation and digs into the actual human behavior behind the headlines. If you want clarity instead of noise, depth instead of rumor — you're in the right place. #HiddenKillers #AnnaKepnerCase #CruiseShipInvestigation #RobinDreeke #BehaviorAnalysis #TrueCrimeBreakdown #CrimePsychology #FBIExpert #JuvenileInvestigation #FamilyChaos Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? “Innovation isn't just about process—it's about emotion. If you're not feeling resistance, you're probably not stretching far enough.” — Brianna Sylver In this episode of Uncorking a Story, host Michael Carlon sits down with nationally recognized innovation strategist Brianna Sylver, founder of Sylver Consulting and author of Leading Through Freefall. Brianna shares the deeply personal and spiritual journey behind her book, which explores the emotional undercurrents of innovation and change. From automatic writing during the pandemic to running a marathon she never thought possible, Brianna's story is one of surrender, resilience, and transformation. Whether you're a leader, changemaker, or simply navigating uncertainty, this conversation offers tools and insights to help you lead with love and clarity. Key Takeaways: Innovation is emotional: Brianna's book focuses on the emotional journey of change, not just the process. Automatic writing as a spiritual practice: Her daily journaling became a channel for divine guidance and creative clarity. Running a marathon as a metaphor for writing: Both required surrender, discipline, and showing up consistently. Highly sensitive leadership: Brianna discusses how being highly sensitive can be both a gift and a challenge in professional settings. The grief curve of change: Leaders must recognize and navigate emotional resistance in teams to drive transformation. Collaborative creation: Brianna leaned on her network to finish her book, proving that writing doesn't have to be a solitary endeavor. Practical tools for leaders: Each chapter includes actionable guides to help navigate emotional dynamics in innovation. Prince Andrew's downfall runs far deeper than Jeffrey Epstein. For decades, he's lived a life of obscene privilege, spending like a billionaire while earning like a civil servant, and somehow the palace never asked how he was funding it. The truth is, Andrew's entire lifestyle — the jets, the mansions, the security, the “business trips” — has been bankrolled by shady “friends,” loans that never made sense, and suspicious “gifts” that just happened to align with favors. Epstein didn't create his corruption; he exposed it. The scandal ripped open decades of royal freeloading and backroom deals that turned the Queen's favorite son into the monarchy's biggest liability. Now the world's finally catching up. The Epstein scandal may have started the fall, but the financial questions will finish it. The bills are coming due, and for once, there's no palace PR team that can clean it up. The image of the dashing duke is gone — what's left is a man who built his entire life on entitlement and other people's money. And as the investigation into his finances grows louder, the truth is clear: Prince Andrew isn't just disgraced — he's the poster boy for everything rotten about royal privilege.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Public demands answers about Prince Andrew's unexplained wealth sources | Fox News

Gas prices are plunging nationwide — the average has dropped six cents in a week to $3.02 per gallon, nearly 14 cents lower than a month ago. Analysts say America could soon see the national average fall below $3 and stay there for the first time in years, driven by oil dipping under $60 a barrel. Some states, including Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin, may even see prices drop below $2 per gallon — a milestone not reached since the pandemic. Meanwhile on the show: giving lottery scratchers as gifts sparks a “finder's fee” debate, Conway jokes about winning the Lotto and filing a restraining order, “Castro & Conway in the Mornings” makes an appearance, and memories of Wonder Pets lead to talk about kids now running the car radio. Weather-wise, forecasters missed big — expecting an inch of rain but getting 3–4, triggering crash warnings and mudslide fears, especially around Sierra Madre's Eaton Fire burn scar where a big rig even ended up dangling off the 118.
