In this educational session, Adam from National Comfort Institute (NCI) delivers a comprehensive deep dive into Fan Law 2 and its practical applications for residential HVAC systems at the 6th Annual HVACR Training Symposium. Adam begins by establishing the fundamental concepts of CFM (cubic feet per minute) and static pressure, explaining how these measurements relate to system performance. He shares a humbling personal story about learning to measure gas pressure from a homeowner, emphasizing that even experienced technicians can benefit from understanding basic measurement principles. The presentation focuses heavily on Fan Law 2, which allows technicians to predict how changes in airflow will affect static pressure in a non-proportional relationship - a critical concept for equipment sizing and replacement decisions. The core of the presentation revolves around practical applications of Fan Law 2 in real-world scenarios. Adam demonstrates how to calculate pressure drops across filters, evaporator coils, and entire duct systems when airflow changes occur. He emphasizes that static pressure increases exponentially when airflow increases, which explains why oversized systems often perform poorly. Through detailed examples using actual field measurements, he shows how a 16% increase in airflow can result in a 33% increase in static pressure, highlighting the importance of proper system sizing. Perhaps most importantly, Adam presents a systematic approach to equipment selection that goes beyond simply matching tonnage. He demonstrates how contractors can "back into" total external static pressure calculations by carefully selecting low-pressure-drop components like evaporator coils and filters. This methodology allows technicians to predict system performance before installation, preventing the common scenario where new equipment sounds "like a rocket ship" due to excessive static pressure. The presentation concludes with a compelling comparison showing how proper component selection can reduce system static pressure from over 1.0 inches to 0.64 inches while maintaining the same capacity and airflow. Topics Covered Static Pressure Fundamentals Definition and measurement using manometers Inches of water column explained Relationship between static pressure and system performance Fan Law 2 Mathematics Breaking down the intimidating formula into simple terms Step-by-step calculation examples Common mistakes when squaring numbers in calculations Practical Applications Filter pressure drop calculations at different airflows Evaporator coil pressure drop analysis Total External Static Pressure (TESP) predictions Duct system pressure calculations Equipment Selection Strategy How to select evaporator coils based on pressure drop ratings Filter sizing for optimal pressure drop Using manufacturer data sheets effectively AHRI matchup considerations beyond just capacity Real-World Problem Solving Preventing "rocket ship" installations Retrofitting existing systems with proper calculations Downsizing benefits for static pressure reduction System commissioning and performance verification Professional Development Moving beyond equipment replacement guesswork Using measurement tools like True Flow Grid Understanding manufacturer specifications Elevating installation quality through proper system design Have a question that you want us to answer on the podcast? Jeannine Bryant's journey from North Dakota farm girl to right-sizing expert began with a childhood surrounded by grandparents and a natural gift for organization. Today, as CEO of Changing Spaces SRS in Lincoln, Nebraska, she leads a team helping seniors navigate the emotional journey of downsizing with compassion and practical solutions."Keep the best, let go of the rest" isn't just Jeannine's business tagline—it's a philosophy that guides her approach to helping clients find the perfect balance between too much and too little. She introduces us to the concept of right-sizing, a positive reframing that focuses on keeping what's meaningful rather than what you're losing. Through stories from her decade of experience, Jeannine illustrates how our attachment to possessions can become barriers to necessary life transitions. The emotional aspects of downsizing take center stage as Janine explains how our identities become wrapped up in our things. She shares a poignant example of helping a couple move to assisted living—a necessary transition made significantly more difficult by their extensive ceramic figurine collection. This story perfectly illustrates her company tagline: "Life is hard enough. Don't let your stuff make it harder."Jeannine outlines her systematic five-step approach to right-sizing: decide what to keep, give to family and friends, sell what you can, donate what didn't sell, and remove the trash. She emphasizes that following this order is crucial—by identifying what you'll keep first, you can more easily let go of the rest. She also dispels market myths about the value of china hutches, punch bowls, and other once-prized possessions that now flood the secondhand market.Beyond her business services, Jeannine shares her passion for supporting seniors through volunteer work with caregiver organizations, offering insights into intergenerational living experiments, and providing resources through her books and website for those who can't access her in-person services. Whether you're planning a move, helping parents downsize, or simply seeking a more manageable home environment, Jeannine's practical wisdom offers a roadmap to living with less stress and more joy.Check out Jeannine's resources at easyrightsizing.com or learn about her services at changingspacessrs.com to start your own right-sizing journey today.00:00 Introduction and Host Greetings00:12 Meet Jeannine Bryant: Right Sizing Expert01:57 Jeannine's Journey from Farm to Business04:05 Understanding Right Sizing06:12 Challenges of Downsizing09:16 Emotional Attachment to Possessions12:43 Strategies for Letting Go17:53 The Five Steps of Right Sizing21:13 Downsizing Without Moving22:33 Safety and Comfort in Aging24:15 Common Downsizing Mistakes24:41 Understanding the Time Needed26:01 Senior-Focused Organizations29:18 Services Offered by Changing Spaces and Easy Rightsizing33:47 Unique Downsizing Experiences36:07 Compensation and Pricing38:57 Handling Family Heirlooms41:16 The Value of Items43:06 Resources and Contact Information44:45 Conclusion and Final ThoughtsWe Would Love to Hear Your Feedback!Mid-Roll Ad

For many older people, moving out of the family home and downsizing - either to a smaller home or to a retirement village - is an overwhelming task. A lifetime of accumulated possessions - some precious, some not - but all needing sorting and most needing a new home. It can be a painful and emotional process, says Judy Thorpe, who founded Taskmasters in Wellington, and whose team around the North Island have helped thousands of older people downsize. She shares her advice.

Michelle Van Loon was "getting around," doing drugs and acting 'a fool as a Jewish teenager but when a friend introduced and evangelized her to Jesus (may or may not have been over some weed), her life has never been the same. Michelle, author of numerous books, recently wrote "Downsizing: Letting Go of Evangelicalism's Nonessentials," and joins Joey to discuss the contents. Could "downsizing" be the only hope for unity in the church? Among the many topics discussed, the two talk whether "spiritual authority" has to go, what makes a pastor a pastor, Joey's former zeal for Mark Driscoll, how the church has made an idol of the nuclear family, and the silly notion that deconstruction is usually a bad thing. Synopsis of book: Michelle Van Loon came to faith in Jesus as a Jewish teenager and embraced the first Christian community she found: evangelicals. Over the next fifty years, she enthusiastically worshiped and worked in a wide variety of evangelical groups. Looking back on those experiences today, Van Loon treasures the things that truly deepened her faith. At the same time, she laments the accumulation of baggage—religious ideas and practices that were unhelpful at best, and harmful at worst. Unlike many who have given up on evangelicalism altogether, Van Loon is committed to saving what's worthwhile in the evangelical faith tradition, and she invites others to join her. Simultaneously critical and hopeful, Downsizing encourages readers to reflect on their own experience with evangelicalism, evaluate the movement's legacy, and participate in shaping its future.Michelle Van Loon / Instagram / Website E-mail Joey here. This week we take a look at two films both of which left us a bit confused as to what's going on! Downsizing has some great characters that save the film some what but jumps around and doesn't have a clear path as to what it's trying to achieve. It's a great idea for a film but did it score well? the second film was the 2025 Netflix film The Old Guard 2 which takes off where the original film ends. must admit after 30 minutes it was difficult to follow who was immortal and who wasn't! listen to hear what we thought.to get in touch email us on backtothefilm20@gmail.com

Vertriebsführung FMCG bedeutet, den Kunden kompromisslos an die erste Stelle zu setzen – genau darüber spreche ich in dieser Folge mit Sebastian Grosser, Sales Director bei Brand Masters. Was steckt hinter moderner Vertriebsführung FMCG? Weitere Ressourcen

On this episode of Stinchfield, we expose the bloated, inefficient, and utterly broken bureaucracy known as the U.S. State Department — where 3,000 employees are now out of a job, and not a single American life is worse off because of it. That’s not just a statistic — it’s a wake-up call. Secretary of State Marco Rubio is leading the charge in the most liberal agency in American government to return power back to the people. The America First movement is slamming the brakes on Washington’s culture of waste, abuse, and unaccountability. Wait til you hear the inefficiencies uncovered by the Trump administration. For too long, the State Department has acted like a globalist slush fund — funding programs overseas that no one voted for, negotiating deals that sell out American interests, and hiring career bureaucrats who wouldn’t last a day in the real world. Downsizing the deep state isn’t radical — it’s necessary. And 3,000 pink slips is just the beginning. The emotional journey of downsizing after decades in the same home presents unique challenges that go far beyond simple real estate transactions. What happens when cherished memories, comfortable routines, and fierce independence collide with the practical realities of aging? Our fascinating conversation with Josh Wapshot reveals the delicate art of helping long-term homeowners transition to their next chapter. We unpack the psychology behind resistance ("You're only going to take me out of here in a box") and the surprising sense of relief many experience once they've made the move ("Oh my God, thank God we did that"). Size concerns naturally dominate initial discussions, as clients worry about trading spacious family homes for apartment living. But there's so much more to consider: strata costs that seem daunting until compared with ongoing home maintenance expenses; the increasing importance of accessibility features as mobility decreases; and the thoughtful process of "future-proofing" new homes with modifications like replacing sharp handles with pull drawers.Perhaps most interesting is why many seniors actively choose apartments over retirement villages. Asset protection plays a role, but equally important is the desire to maintain vibrant, independent living among diverse neighbors rather than age-segregated communities. And for couples, there's often the touching motivation to ensure the surviving partner won't face this challenging transition alone.Connect with us to learn how we take a patient, educational approach to guiding downsizers through what may be their final home purchase. With the right support, downsizing can transform from a dreaded necessity to an exciting new chapter with less maintenance, greater accessibility, and a home that truly supports this important life stage.

CJ explains the psychological effect of plate size on your appetite (the Delboeuf effect), and why a 9-inch plate could help reduce calorie intake by up to 22%. It's about eating intuitively—stopping when satisfied, not stuffed. The Hidden Danger of Sitting CJ reveals how prolonged sitting reduces fat-burning enzymes by up to 90%. Even if you work out, too much sitting can reverse those benefits. That's why CJ pushes for hourly stretch breaks to get blood flowing, fire up your metabolism, and boost mental focus.Key Takeaways:Foundational movement saves time and maximizes impact. Focus on quality over quantity when doing exercises like deadlifts, rows, lunges, and push-ups.Portion control is about visual cues, not calorie counting. Downsizing your plate resets your mind's perception of fullness.Stretching is metabolism maintenance. Short breaks every hour can undo the metabolic damage caused by prolonged sitting.Small changes lead to big results. It's not about perfection. It's about momentum and consistent wins each day.Movement boosts energy. Breaking up sedentary time doesn't just burn fat—it increases focus, productivity, and mood.5 Things You Can Start Doing Today:Switch to a 9-inch plate for your meals. You'll naturally eat less without even noticing it.Add hinge, pull, push, and lunge exercises to your routine. Start slow, with good form, and track how you feel after each session.Set a timer to stretch every hour. A 5-minute break can include torso twists, neck stretches, or squats.Observe your fullness cues. Eat until you're satisfied, not full. Give yourself 20 minutes before reaching for more food.Write or record a quick voice note after meals and workouts. Build self-awareness by tracking how your body feels and reacts.Final Thought: You don't need to overhaul your entire life to start feeling better. You just need to eat a little smarter and move a little more—consistently. That's how change begins.

Agents are struggling to generate consistent listing leads, especially in a market where inventory is tight and sellers are sitting on low-interest-rate homes. But what if there was an overlooked niche that's not only highly motivated, but also underserved? That's where the downsizing demographic comes in. Homeowners over 55 aren't just thinking about selling, they're actively planning for it. They don't need more space or better school districts. They need someone who understands the emotional and logistical complexities of selling a home they've lived in for decades. Enter Kathy Chiero. She's spent 28 years in real estate, and 13 years ago, she tapped into a goldmine by creating “DownSize Columbus”, a lead-generating seminar for older homeowners who are ready to transition but don't know where to start. Today, she's built an 8,000-person database and an event business that pays for itself (and then some) while feeding her pipeline with highly qualified leads. What makes downsizers so unique? How do we provide value to them? In this episode, Kathy breaks down exactly how she built a seminar that became a machine for long-term listings. She shares how she monetized it through vendor partnerships and why most agents won't take the leap, even when the opportunity is right in front of them. Selling a home when you downsize is completely different from going up the ladder. They aren't looking for schools or size. They don't want to sell their home, but aging is a track that's going to force the decision one way or another. -Kathy Chiero Things You'll Learn In This Episode The most overlooked goldmine in real estate What does the data really say about the downsizing generation, and how can agents tap into this invisible yet valuable group? How Kathy built a seminar that drives 20% of her income What's the secret to turning a napkin sketch into a well-oiled, money-making machine that generates listings and brand visibility? The genius way Kathy funds every event (and profits from it) How do you offset $30K+ in event costs and walk away with a bigger budget for your next one? Why selling the home is the easy part What are the five pillars Kathy built her business around, and how do they set her apart from agents who treat downsizing like just another listing? Guest Bio Kathy Chiero is a real estate agent and leader with nearly three decades of experience. 13 years ago, Kathy discovered a goldmine in the downsizing market by launching DownSize Columbus, a lead-generating seminar designed specifically for homeowners over 55 who are ready to transition but don't know where to start. What began as a small event with 600 attendees has since grown into an 8,000-strong database and a thriving business that consistently feeds Kathy's listing pipeline with highly motivated, qualified leads. Kathy's unique approach goes beyond just selling homes, she helps seniors navigate the emotional and logistical challenges of letting go of a place they've called home for decades.
