This is the sixth Short Takes episode. In this episode I share an interview between Susan Smith and Betty Castellani that occurred in 2011. Betty died January 2014 ending her own long battle with cancer. In this interview she discusses her experience with her first patient. Today I will be interviewing Lex from my cancer support group. Lex was diagnosed back in 2012 with stage 3B Rectal Cancer. Some of the more memorable things she shares is the fact that her doctor did not even mention survival percentages. He felt that the percentages were not correct since typically they were several years old and treatments have changed. She also, shares how not isolating and reading over 150 books on her Kindle helped her get through the tough times. Linda has over 10 years of recovery from colon cancer and she was a cancer nurse that worked for many years at Emory Healthcare in Atlanta. She shares how she had to follow the same advice she gave her patients. In the interview she shares great advice and stories from her time with cancer patients. Through humor and a positive attitude she has become a guide and inspiration to others. Below are a few examples of the advice she provides in the interview.
