The reality is that we are not one, rather we are fragmented and there are many parts of us. Lets try to understand and improve those parts together through discussion, provoking self reflection and promoting real change within us.
In Episode 10, I was joined once again by Khaleel (Instagram: @khaleel.kassim94 and his counselling practice - @eclectic.house) where we talk about the barriers we face in our lives, and what really stops us from evolving and being courageous. We talk about whether we sometimes use our brokenness as an excuse rather than a reason to heal those parts of us. Sometimes we forget that in the breaking, something beautiful is making. Our best selves are forming but how much do we work on helping that manifest? Most importantly, to recognise the blessings and strength that Allah has given us to do that and knowing that true power lies with Him - but to do this, we have a look at our belief system; the foundations.
In Episode we reflect together on a range of different things. From taking charge of your own behaviour and perceptions towards life's circumstances, submitting to Allah, our perception of Allah, the importance of reflection in our journey, and much more.
At times we feel lonely, and it can be an isolating experience. What does loneliness really feel like and what happens when we can't reach out to others, where do we turn? Episode 8 discusses this and more.
We find that we need patience daily, for many different things. We may need it when dealing with other people and according to Ibn Qayyim al Jawzi we need patience through Worship and Adversities that we face that are out of our control, or from the hands of other people. So how do we have patience and where does the beauty lie? I talk about this in more detail in this Episode of Fragmented.
The heart is the root of all that we do. How do we take care of it, nurture it, and free it? In Episode 6 I discuss a few of my reflections on this and share a few ways in which we can work on our hearts. A few books that can help with the development of our heart/soul: • Purification of the heart - Shaykh Hamza Yusuf • In the Early Hours - Khurram Murad • Emotional Intelligence - Gill Hasson • Patience and Gratitude - Ibn al Jawzi • Agenda to change our condition - Hamza Yusuf and Zaid Shakir
our past plays a huge role in how we see the world today. What we go through doesn't define us, but how we deal with it says a lot. So it's up to us to notice how the past has affected us and to do the difficult work of coming face to face and healing from it all. How do we do that? In this episode, I share a few reflections based off my own journey in hope it will benefit you.
What is Anxiety and what kinds of things can cause it? Is there a way to see it through the lens of Islam? How can we deal with it through understanding ourselves, spiritually detoxing and being more conscious of how we spend our time on social media and our life in general? In this episode, I am joined by Khaleel Kassim - an International Counsellor and Therapist where we discuss this further. Check out his work or get in touch on Instagram - @khaleel.kassim94 or his Company page for Counselling, Life Coaching and Mentoring - @eclectic.house
In this Episode, I am joined by Aaliyah Unia, a woman of many talents but in this episode we focus specifically on her fitness journey. We learn about the difficulties she faced that were essentially the starting points for her journey, we speak about the realities of self care, the role of mental health in physical fitness and wellbeing and Aaliyah shares some tips for those of us who want to have a better relationship with our physical states, our diets and getting out of that ‘tomorrow' mindset. I personally learnt a lot from this conversation and I have no doubt this will give you the motivation you need to kickstart your own journey.
In this Episode I am joined by Emdad Hussain as we talk about following the Sunnah and how it is fundamental to look at and learn from so that we may be able to live better lives internally first then externally. We talk about the caravan of despair that many fall into, the need of more compassion and mercy in our society and the idea that, there's room for us all. ‘Come, come, whoever you are. Wanderer, worshipper, lover of leaving. It doesn't matter. Ours is not a caravan of despair. Come, even if you have broken your vow a thousand times. Come, yet again, come, come.' - Mawlana Rumi
In this episode I delve into the meaning behind 'Fragmented' and the purpose of this Podcast, as well as sharing what Ramadhan 2020/1441 AH was like for me, and how it essentially acted as a mirror for my character.
