In this first of two episodes, Julie and Savannah read your listener letters! This time, Julie reached out and asked the question, "What didn't you know about or what didn't THEY tell you?" before or as you embarked on their transgender journey. From the difficulties of dating in a post-transition world, to the switch from clothing being euphoric to the transition being euphoric, from surprise reactions at home when bedroom play and underdressing becomes more, from finding strength in unlikely places when those most loved take a step back, these letters hit the heart of the varied and individualized life experiences that may resonate with others.-----SAVANNAH HAUK is the author of “Living with Crossdressing: Defining a New Normal” and “Living with Crossdressing: Discovering your True Identity“. The Elephant In The Room Property Podcast | Inside Australian Real Estate
For decades, the assumption was simple: by the time Australians reached retirement, the mortgage was gone. But that reality is changing fast.Today, more than half of Australians approaching retirement still carry housing debt—and it's reshaping how households think about superannuation, the Age Pension, and the role of the family home.In this episode, Veronica and Chris sit down with retirement specialist Harry Chemay to unpack the growing debt burden among pre-retirees and what it means for the next generation of retirees. They explore why the traditional “pay off the home before retirement” rule is breaking down, how rising property prices and refinancing behaviour have changed the way Australians use housing equity, and why more people are drawing down their super simply to clear their mortgage.Harry explains the financial trade-offs between paying off your mortgage versus preserving superannuation, and why this decision can dramatically affect long-term retirement cash flow. The conversation also dives into reverse mortgages, equity release strategies, the Age Pension means test, and why downsizing isn't always the straightforward solution many assume it to be.This episode challenges long-held assumptions about debt in retirement and highlights the need for better coordination between financial advisers, mortgage brokers, and retirement planners. Because in today's housing market, the biggest asset most Australians own—the family home—may also be the key to making retirement work.Episode Highlights01:13 – Meet Harry Chemay: Retirement and Wealth Strategy Expert01:55 – From Robo Advice Startup to Retirement Strategy Specialist03:33 – Why More Australians Are Reaching Retirement With Mortgages08:46 – Generational Shifts, Lifestyle Choices and Mortgage Refinancing10:36 – Why Retirees Are Using Super Withdrawals to Clear Housing Debt25:14 – The Trade-Off: Paying Off Your Mortgage vs Preserving Super26:22 – A Simple Cashflow Test for Retirees Carrying Mortgage Debt27:17 – Case Study: Super Withdrawal vs Equity Release Outcomes29:17 – Will Banks Start Lending More to Retirees and Older Borrowers?32:07 – Australia's $12 Trillion Housing Wealth Reality Explained38:55 – Downsizing vs Aging in Place: The Retirement Housing Debate42:04 – The Rise of New Retirement Living and Lifestyle Developments43:31 – Rising Homeownership Costs and Why Early Planning Matters46:20 – Rethinking Retirement Living: Building Your Own Community47:37 – A Real Family Story of Moving Parents Later in Life49:08 – Why Retirement Planning Needs a Holistic Advice Team52:12 – Final Takeaways on Retirement Debt, Super and HousingLinksThe growing debt burden of retiring AustraliansAbout the GuestHarry Chemay is a retirement and wealth specialist with nearly three decades of experience across financial planning, wealth management, asset consulting, fintech, and superannuation product design. How technocracy replaced burning books with programmable compliance — and why your ability to think, speak, and dissent is now the primary target. In this raw, unfiltered Technocracy Roundtable, I'm joined by Patrick Wood, Aaron Day, and Craig Wenclewicz to expose how the war on free speech has evolved from crude deplatforming and visible strikes into something far more dangerous: an invisible, AI-driven operating system designed to control what you think, say, and believe. We map the full control stack in real time — from algorithmic throttling and shadow banning, to conversational AI that permanently rewires political beliefs, cohort targeting, bot swarms, deepfakes, debanking, the UN Global Digital Compact, and the Brussels Effect that routes around the First Amendment. This isn't theory. This is the operating system already running the digital world. We also lay out real parallel systems and local action steps you can take right now to preserve sovereign voice before the window closes. Episode Notes On this week's episode of Orange Juice Optional, Suzanne and Michelle talk about the act of becoming — how life events ask us to shift, pivot, and rediscover who we are along the way. Change is rarely linear, and learning to move with it is part of personal growth. Together, we explore: • Navigating life transitions and redefining your “new normal” • Emotional growth through uncertainty and personal change • Mindset shifts that help you move forward with intention • Letting go of expectations while embracing transformation • Finding steadiness while life evolves around you This is a reflective conversation for anyone experiencing change, growth, or a season of becoming. Because transformation isn't about starting over, it's about evolving forward. And then…to close out this episode, the ladies share this week's ‘Something to Sip On'. ‘Something to Sip On' is a quote or saying meant to spark reflection — something to think about and carry with you until we meet again. Cheers. Orange Juice Optional Podcast is a lifestyle and personal growth podcast centered on navigating change, emotional growth, and finding clarity through life's transitions. __ __ Mixed & Edited by Next Day Podcast info@nextdaypodcast.com

In this episode, Julie and Savannah talk about the upcoming Keystone Conference in Harrisburg, PA, and how difficult it can sometimes be for some attendees (returning or first-timers) to be able to "show up" in a more extroverted fashion to get dressed up, meet people, and make connections. The conference can be overwhelming just by the sheer number of attendees and can be daunting as so many sisters are returning and meeting up with their chosen peer sister groups. Our hosts' advice is to relax, make a plan, and try to go up to at least one person a day that seems interesting!-----SAVANNAH HAUK is the author of “Living with Crossdressing: Defining a New Normal” and “Living with Crossdressing: Discovering your True Identity“. Grab a coffee and join us at the holiday cottage! We're recording straight from our annual Shropshire retreat to catch up on everything happening in our creative lives right now. With the cost of living crisis changing how couples plan their big days, we dive deep into the rising trend of reduced-coverage weddings. Are these shorter, "smash and grab" days a refreshing change of pace, or do they rob us of the chance to truly connect with our couples? We also debate the modern relevance of bridal prep and detail shots - do brides really want a photo of their shoes on a tree, or are we just shooting out of fear of missing something? We're also pulling back the curtain on the very first British Wedding Film Festival! We debrief on the incredible highs of the glamorous night at the Manchester Art Gallery, the financial realities of hosting a major industry event from scratch, and the controversy of international filmmakers dominating the final shortlists. Plus, we talk through our plans and category changes for next year. Finally, we share our weekly highs and lows, featuring the magic of Victorian tintype photography, the sheer terror of M6 traffic, the sting of buying four new car tires, and a painfully relatable vent about couples treating our Zoom consultations like interviews only to ghost us afterward.Timestamps00:00 - Morning Coffee & Shropshire Holiday Vibes02:40 - Are Reduced Coverage Weddings the New Normal?07:30 - The "Smash and Grab" Reality of Short Weddings08:30 - Do Couples Actually Want Detail Shots Anymore?14:50 - The Danger of Missing Crucial Props (The Pen Story)16:35 - Shooting a Bar Mitzvah & Traffic Nightmares20:10 - Our Worst "Late to a Wedding" Stories & Box Breathing23:25 - Identity Crisis: Are We Still Calling Ourselves Photographers?25:55 - The British Wedding Film Festival Debrief33:00 - The Financial Reality of Hosting an Industry Event35:00 - The Controversy of International & Destination Winners42:20 - Highs & Lows: Victorian Tintype Photography in Shrewsbury48:30 - Highs & Lows: £650 Tyres & Toddler Colds50:10 - Why Are Couples Ghosting After Great Zoom Consultations?52:45 - Dinner Debates & Wrapping UpSay hi on Instagram @ourcreativecommuneGet a free 14 day trial of Musicbed: https://www.musicbed.com/invite/935CyThe British Wedding Film Festivalhttps://www.britishweddingfilmfestival.com/Lawson Film School: https://www.lawsonfilms.co.uk/lawson-film-schoolliamandbee.comlawsonfilms.co.uklawsonphotography.co.uk#weddingphotography #weddingvideography #filmphotography #creativepodcast #weddingindustry #ourcreativecommune Hosted on Acast.

In this episode, Julie and Savannah chat about an important topic as it applies to gender-expansive men and their cis-female partners or spouses. So many crossdressing men hide in the shadows, revert to closeting their feminine behavior after sharing their queerdom to their partners. When partners are told, so many emotions are felt and so much understanding and support is needed for both parties. What happens when the novelty wears off? What happens when the man chooses to be smaller than they should be to avoid conflict and keep everyone comfortable? How does each partner maintain the validity of their emotions while not taking agency away from each other? In this episode, Savannah reads a letter to Julie about late-blooming male-to-female crossdresser Olivia who has come to the realization that their feminine side might want to create a wish list for herself. The idea of giving herself permission to want something for her feminine side is new and seemingly a novel concept. Is this typical for a late-blooming CD? Is it too near adjacent to the Pink Fog? Using a wishlist list is a perfect way to organize, find your style, be mindful about what you want vs need, and a way to share with others who are interested in giving that femme side of you a supporting gift.-----SAVANNAH HAUK is the author of “Living with Crossdressing: Defining a New Normal” and “Living with Crossdressing: Discovering your True Identity“. Gestational diabetes rates climbed every single year in the U.S. from 2016 through 2024, turning what was once uncommon into a routine metabolic stress test that many pregnancies now fail The condition reflects years of declining metabolic health before conception, not a sudden problem that starts during pregnancy Certain racial and ethnic groups face far higher rates, showing that environment, access, and long-standing metabolic strain shape risk well before prenatal care begins Diets low in usable energy and high in seed oils, along with toxic exposures and inactivity, weaken insulin signaling and set the stage for blood sugar breakdown Restoring cellular energy, removing seed oils, reducing environmental toxins, optimizing vitamin D through sunlight, and moving daily strengthen glucose control and lower long-term risks for both mother and child
Life doesn't prepare you for what happens after your parents are gone.In this episode, Kenny, Taylor, and I have a raw, vulnerable conversation about life after losing parents, and what it means to redefine “normal” when there's no one left above you anymore. For me, it's the reality of having no parents and no grandparents left. For them, it's navigating life knowing that safety net doesn't exist the way it once did. We talk about the quiet moments no one warns you about: the grief that shows up randomly, the weight of becoming the elder, the responsibility that shifts without asking, and the question so many people are afraid to say out loud—now what? This isn't a clinical conversation about grief. It's real life. We talk about love, loss, legacy, fear, gratitude, and how death changes the way you see time, family, and yourself. If you've lost a parent. If you've lost both parents. If you're trying to figure out who you are after loss. Or if you're living in that strange in-between space where nothing feels the same anymore...This conversation is for you.Not enough people talk honestly about death. We are.

Modeugerne brager løs rundt omkring i verden. Anbefaling: Se serien. ‘The New Normal’. Esben Weile Kjær, kunstner. What does it mean to bring home a child whose breathing depends on a piece of medical equipment? For many families, the idea of a trach is terrifying long before it ever becomes reality. And even after, the fear doesn't magically disappear. In this episode of The Rare Life, Alyssa is joined by Ashley Caywood to talk honestly about life with a trach and ventilator. We hear from parents who knew this decision was coming and from others who were blindsided by it, from families who hoped it would be temporary and those who've had to come to terms with permanence. We talk about hypervigilance, sleep deprivation, the impossible responsibility of keeping your child breathing at home, and the strange duality of fear and gratitude that so many trach parents carry at the same time.If you're facing trach conversations now, living with one already, or trying to understand what this life actually looks like beyond the hospital walls, this episode offers realism, validation, and the reminder that you're not alone in holding all of this.Thank you to the generous sponsors for today's episode, Imagine Pediatrics. And don't forget to join us on Feb 1st to kick off our FUEL The Rare Life fundraiser!Links: Learn more about Imagine Pediatrics.Listen to Ep 139: In-Home Nursing.Listen to Ep 90: Living with Sleep Deprivation.Join The Rare Life newsletter andnever miss an update!Fill out our contact form to joinupcoming discussion groups!Follow us on Instagram @the_rare_life!Donateto the podcast or Contactme about sponsoring an episode.Follow the Facebook page. Scientists warn Australia's summers are undergoing a "total transformation," with climate change making extreme heatwaves more frequent and intense. A new World Weather Attribution study finds recent blistering heat was five times more likely due to global warming. As south-eastern states brace for another severe heatwave and soaring temperatures above 40 degrees, experts caution that heat poses serious health risks and can worsen bushfire conditions.

Cheryl shares the origin story of the podcast, how it has evolved over time, and why storytelling remains at the center of her mission: helping people feel less alone, more informed, and more empowered to live well alongside chronic illness.Cheryl then walks through nine core themes that keep resurfacing across these conversations, including: validation and belonging, coping with uncertainty, the power of community, navigating medication decisions, redefining “normal,” and why self-compassion, acceptance, identity, and joy still matter after diagnosis. This episode is an honest reflection on what it really means to “thrive” with arthritis, not as a one-size-fits-all outcome, but as a deeply personal, evolving process rooted in realistic hope, credible information, and human connection. The count is now up to 18 scholarship players that have entered their name in the transfer portal from Ohio State, with former 5-star WR Quincy Porter being the latest addition. It seems alarming on the surface, but this is the new normal in college football. Just look around at other programs and you will see this is true. In fact, there are some NIL/transfer situations in college football that make OSU's situation seem tame by comparison. Specifically, we're talking about what's transpiring with Washington QB Demond Williams, plus Missouri DE Damon Wilson II. Dave Biddle and Matt Baxendell tackle that and much more on the Wednesday 5ish. In this episode, Savannah chats with Julie about cis-female and gender-expansive MTF boyfriends or husbands where the genetic woman of the relationship prefers their male partner's feminine identity in many ways over when the male partner is presenting in his own AGAB biology. Why is it that so many gender-expansive partners exhibit personality traits that are more attractive to their partners than when presenting in male mode? From a de-stressed state of being to a more fulfilled and full confident authenticity, our feminine identities can provide us much more than just a pretty outfit for ourselfs and our partners.-----SAVANNAH HAUK is the author of “Living with Crossdressing: Defining a New Normal” and “Living with Crossdressing: Discovering your True Identity“.
