This Haremesque episode explores Tantra as an art form. The term "tantra" means "ritual", "formula" or "spell."  Tantras were recipes or procedures for achieving specific spiritual, magical, or physical results.  Often they contained instructions for combining certain designs (yantras), sounds (mantras), and postures/gestures (mudras) for gaining spiritual and artistic benefits.  Our Haremesque Body Alchemy sessions celebrate our bodies and creative potential through tantric practices such as gentle movement, restorative postures and various breathing and voice techniques. These powerful tantric practices enhance intimacy and sensuality with oneself and others as well as clear creative blockages. Book a session with us today!

    6. A Mindful Approach to COVID-19: Trusting the Process of Life

"Life is a process, a flow of energy, a sense of being that can seem as elusive as the wind. We can see and feel something within us, something deeper than the surface, something that moves us but remains just out of reach. This something, the essential flow of energy that gives us life, holds its own intelligence, direction, and timing. Despite its intangible nature, there are ways to get in touch with this flow of energy, and in turn become more intimately engaged with the spirit of life. Challenge Yourself: Cultivate trust. Explore your relationship with trust. Being supported by something or someone (including yourself) takes great courage and comes with the risk of being let down. Make a list of factors that earn your trust over time. Set the intention to honor these qualities in your interactions with yourself and others. Listen to your breath. Get proof of life by hearing yourself breathe. Not convinced? With over twenty thousand breaths each day, you’ll have ample opportunity to keep testing the system. Every time we breathe in and breathe out, we engage with life. Interact with the wisdom of the body by getting in touch with the sounds of your breath. Believe in your body. The body abounds with trustworthy processes. The next time you feel broken by life, remind yourself that your body continues to be whole. The heart beats around one hundred thousand times each day, bones regenerate on their own, millions of cells are produced every second, and connective tissues join all aspects of our being as one unified matrix." -Courtney Bauer Please feel free to use this Haremesque Elixir (as many times as you need) to bring yourself peace, transmute your fears and enhance your immune and nervous systems during these uncertain times.  We love you all so so much. 5. A Mindful Approach to COVID-19: Leaning into Uncertainty

"Uncertainty is all around us, never more so than today. The current COVID-19 pandemic has heightened uncertainty over the economy, employment, finances, relationships, and of course, physical and mental health. Yet as human beings, we crave security. We want to feel safe and have a sense of control over our lives and well-being. Fear and uncertainty can leave you feeling stressed, anxious, and powerless over the direction of your life. It can drain you emotionally and trap you in a downward spiral of endless “what-ifs” and worst-case scenarios about what tomorrow may bring. We’re all different in how much uncertainty we can tolerate in life. Some people seem to enjoy taking risks and living unpredictable lives, while others find the randomness of life deeply distressing. But all of us have a limit. If you feel overwhelmed by uncertainty and worry, it’s important to know that you’re not alone; many of us are in the same boat at this time. It’s also important to realize that no matter how helpless and hopeless you feel, there are steps you can take to better deal with uncontrollable circumstances, alleviate your anxiety, and face the unknown with more confidence." -Help Guide  Becoming intimate with our fear is one of the best ways we can transmute it. "A peak functioning lymphatic system is key to health and vitality, but this critically important part of the body is one that most people don’t appreciate or know much about. Your lymphatic system is your body’s built-in sanitation center, the plumbing that carries away and filters out poisonous waste products from every cell, tissue and organ. It absorbs fats and fat-soluble vitamins from the digestive tract and delivers them to the cells of the body. It is also an essential part of the immune system that maintains fluid levels, fights infection and produces disease fighting white blood cells. Twice as extensive as the arterial blood supply system which brings oxygen and nutrients to the cells, the lymph is the take away garbage collector and is the largest circulatory system in the body. But, the lymphatic system needs your help to move the fluid through the body because it doesn’t have an automatic pump like the heart, which moves the blood in the circulatory system. Lymphatic congestion is a major factor leading to inflammation and disease. If the lymph is not flowing well, the cells are poisoned from their own waste and the lymph fluid becomes a toxic cesspool, resulting in fatigue, swelling, infection, inflammation, disease, and more symptoms (see below). A combination of a sedentary lifestyle, poor diet, and a toxic environment all contribute to this backup. Rapid improvements in the quality of the cells and blood occur once easy lifestyle changes are made so that the lymphatic system is activated and working efficiently. What Backs Up the Lymph? Lack of Movement: Proper lymphatic flow requires deep breathing and body movement – the contraction of skeletal muscles force tiny one- way valves of the lymph system to open and close and push the fluid to the subclavian veins. Dehydration: Being dehydrated can contribute to poor lymphatic drainage and cause lymphatic stagnation. Stress: The waste products of stress-fighting hormones are acidic and an acidic body leads to lymph congestion. Chronic Digestive Imbalance: Chronic constipation or diarrhea due to damaged intestinal villi promotes lymph congestion. Processed Foods: An unhealthy diet, particularly one containing processed foods and bad fats, will lead to a sluggish lymphatic system. Chemical Exposures: When your body is exposed to harmful chemicals in skin and body care products, cleaning products or pesticides, it may be unable to unload or detoxify immediately." -Marilee Nelson   Please feel free to use this Haremesque Elixir (as many times as you need) to enhance your immune, lymphatic and nervous systems during these uncertain times.  We love you all so so much. "Oh, joy! That happy, buoyant emotion is a great feeling, whether it’s brought on by a big life event (like a wedding or birth) or something as simple as finding the perfect fruit at the farmer’s market. On an emotional level, we may feel joy in a variety of ways — tearfully, euphoric, with a deep sense of contentment, and more. On a scientific level, we feel joy in our neurotransmitters, which are tiny chemical “messenger” cells that transmit signals between neurons (nerves) and other bodily cells. Those neurotransmitters are responsible for processes and feelings in almost every aspect of the body, from blood flow to digestion. Benefits of feeling more joy promotes a healthier lifestyle boosts immune system fights stress and pain supports longevity Wondering if you can actually trick your body into feeling joy? In a way, you can, says Dr. Samuel. Even just the simple act of smiling can help. She explains, “Smiling can trick your brain by elevating your mood, lowering your heart rate, and reducing your stress. The smiledoesn’t have to be based on real emotion because faking it works as well.” - Carrie Murphy Please feel free to use this Haremesque Elixir (as many times as you need) to enhance your immune and nervous systems and to inspire joy during these uncertain times.  We love you all so so much. "Several studies show that regular mindfulness meditation practice lower overall stress levels, enhance quality of life, and boost the immune system. COVID-19 has a higher risk of complications for people with compromised immune systems.  Mindfulness practice also has a proven track record of lowering anxiety and worry. With all the media coverage of the coronavirus from around the world, it’s easy to fall into worry or even panic.  Mindfulness helps us be aware of the presence of anxiety or worry in the form of thoughts and as sensations in the body, and to observe them with friendliness instead of trying to push them away. Repeatedly returning to the sensations of the breath or the grounding feeling of the feet on the floor help us reorient to the present moment instead of racing toward some anticipated future. Using the principles of mindfulness,  we can practice this and help us all to move through the epidemic with all its unpredictability, doing our part to lower the spread and impact of COVID-19, physically and emotionally. It’s paramount that we use — and deepen — our practice to help ourselves and the world to stay calm and get through this together." -Christiane Wolfe Please feel free to use this Haremesque Elixir (as many times as you need) to enhance your immune, lymphatic and nervous systems during these uncertain times.  We love you all so so much. "Does your relationship feel like work? Do you notice that you find yourself psychoanalyzing your mate, or rationalizing behavior that you find unacceptable? Do you go along to get along? These relationship strategies would not work in a successful business model, nor in a successful relationship. In fact, there are many similarities between good business and good relationship models. Though you never want your relationship to be cold, calculating, or manipulating, there are basic rules of engagement that work well for both business and personal relationships" - Dr. Gail Gross So, Azza woke up feeling a bit triggered about some past relationship shit...and as you may or may not know, here at Haremesque we love LOVE (shout out Venus in Libra) and have certainly had our fair share of relationships and situationships, be they monogamous, monogamish, poly or open (whatever you want to call it) and all that in between.  Rather than blabbing behind the scenes (the norm), we decided to hit the record button and discuss everything from our conventional and non conventional romantic experiences, why core values are SO important, throwing plates and breaking expensive electric toothbrushes, boundaries vs punishment (protest behavior) and why everyone should romance their friendships. Azza also discusses the importance of her romantic relationships being beautifully creative business collaborations.  Perhaps this episode will inspire you to snuggle up with yourself, your boo and/or boos/booze, perhaps you'll be inspired to increase your +1 to a +2 or 3, perhaps you won't be inspired at all. Either way, all good, have fun, be safe, send selfies. Love,  Azza & Lana HAREMESQUE Donate: Paypal - info@haremesque.com

“Everyday from the moment we wake up, we live our lives caring what other people think of us. We accept the status quo for what it is because everyone around us does. We tip toe our way through life by doing things in order to please others, not because it’s what we believe in. Eventually our actions, appearances, and lives become molded by how we think other people perceive us. It's exhausting. It's dreadful. It has to stop. Living a life that follows the ideal notions of what other people think is a terrible way to live. It makes you become the spineless spectator who waits for other people to take action first. It makes you become a follower. Worst of all, it makes you become someone who doesn't take a stand for anything.” - Sean Kim Yup…this, basically is our Haremesque episode in a nutshell (thanks Sean!). "Crack Pie: It's love at first bite...Sold at Momofuku Bakery & Milk Bar in Manhattan [and Brooklyn], this pie has taken New York City by storm, partly because of the audacious name, partly because of the jaw-dropping price tag -- $44 a pie, yes, $44 a pie -- and partly because anyone who has tried it, including myself, CNN bigwig Anderson Cooper and the people who are buying the 60 to 90 Crack Pies sold each day or two, can’t stop raving about it. Still not convinced? Out-of-town demand is so high that the bakery just started shipping the pie by FedEx. They’ve even sought trademark protection for the name." -Rene Lynch  *Sigh*...so yum. Sadly, for you pie lovers out there, today's episode isn't exactly about pie (although Azza does reveal her relationship with Crack Pie, which clearly inspired the title). It is, however, quite a DELICIOUS exploration of our relationship with desire, addiction, conscious decision making, boundary setting and learning to love ourselves throughout the process--as challenging as that may be or seem at times. We encourage you to grab your favorite dessert while tuning in. Azza has since parted ways with Crack Pie (still on good terms) and is now going steady with Honey Mama's Dutch Cocoa Nectar Bar...who, she conveyed, has been much sweeter to her AND her gut microbiome :-P  Love, Azza & Lana HAREMESQUE Donate: Paypal - info@haremesque.com
