    Mike Haines at Humanism 2019

    Mike Haines OBE is a campaigner challenging extremism and intolerance in society. In 2013 his brother David was working for a Humanitarian aid charity in Syria when he was kidnapped by ISIS. In 2014 David was executed by his captors who published video footage of his murder online. Since his brothers death Mike has set up Global Acts of Unity which seeks to promote unity, tolerance and understanding in schools across the UK. Mike believes it is important to tackle the fear, misunderstanding and anger that terrorists and extremists use to turn people against each other.
