Craig Campbell joins us this week on Stories Behind the Songs!  Like most of our guests, Craig grew up in a musical family, but he started his career as a correctional officer. He knew music was his passion so he spent a lot of his time playing in bars and bands on Broadway. It's a good thing he did because he was discovered while playing “The Stage” on Broadway and landed his very first record deal. He shares his journey from performing there to writing his debut single, "Family Man," while starting his own family, and how early hits like "Family Man" and "Fish" shaped his career. He also tells the story of how he wrote "Outskirts of Heaven" with Dave Turnbull in just two hours.  Craig's music has touched many lives, and today he's re-releasing some of his greatest hits in a new project titled “Almost Greatest Hits,” featuring re-records and a few new songs. We also discuss his experience writing for other artists, like Garth Brooks and Trace Adkins. This week - you'll get to hear Craig play an unreleased track, discuss the upcoming projects and writes he is working on, and the next steps in his entrepreneurial journey with his restaurant, Grindstone Cowboy. This success was followed by his self-titled debut album in 2010, which produced another number-one hit, "Roll with It," and solidified his presence in the country music scene.Critics and fans praised Corbin for his authentic country sound, reminiscent of 1990s country music, which set him apart in an era dominated by pop-country crossover artists. His voice and style drew comparisons to country legends like George Strait, earning him a reputation as a traditionalist within the genre.Corbin's subsequent albums, including "All Over the Road" (2012) and "About to Get Real" (2015), continued to showcase his commitment to traditional country music. "All Over the Road" featured hits like "Lovin' You Is Fun," while "About to Get Real" included the successful single "Baby Be My Love Song."Despite changes in the music industry and evolving trends, Corbin has remained true to his roots. His music often reflects themes of love, heartbreak, and everyday life, resonating with fans who appreciate classic country storytelling. Corbin's dedication to his craft and his ability to stay relevant in a competitive industry highlight his talent and resilience.Easton Corbin's contributions to country music extend beyond his discography. He has toured extensively, bringing his traditional sound to audiences across the United States and beyond. His live performances are known for their energy and authenticity, further cementing his status as a beloved country artist. In summary, Easton Corbin's journey from a small-town Florida farm to the stages of Nashville exemplifies his dedication to preserving the traditional country music sound. Emerging research suggests that fasting might offer therapeutic benefits for spinal stenosis through mechanisms like autophagy and stem cell regeneration. Autophagy, a process activated during fasting, involves the cellular self-cleaning of damaged proteins and organelles, potentially reducing inflammation and aiding in the repair of damaged spinal tissues. Additionally, fasting may stimulate stem cell regeneration, which can lead to the rejuvenation of cells and tissues in the spinal area. These regenerative processes could potentially alleviate some symptoms of spinal stenosis by improving spinal health and function. He played piano at his mother's Baptist church from the age of 10 until he was 18. He first heard the sounds of gospel music before listening to Travis Tritt, who was one of the reasons why he immediately fell in love with country music. When he was 15, he formed a band called Out of the Blue and began playing the bar circuit, learning how to put together a performance and capture an audience. Craig moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in 2002 in hopes of pursuing his musical career. He took on several musician jobs and began writing his songs and demos. Fellow Georgian Luke Bryan suggested Campbell try his hand at writing his own songs, and in time he mastered the craft, honing his original material at gigs. He met another singer, Mindy Ellis, fell in love, and the pair married; he also began playing piano in her band, which in turn led to a touring stint with Tracy Byrd. Keith Stegall caught one of Campbell's performances at The Stage in 2008, and the young singer was soon signed to Bigger Picture. Starting in 2010, “Family Man” and “Outta My Head” both cracked the Top 15 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart, while others like the hook-in-cheek “Fish” snagged more than 10 million on-demand streams. “Keep Them Kisses Comin'” became a bona fide Top 10 hit, while “Outskirts of Heaven” showed an artist sensitive enough to share his soul and courageous enough to stand on conviction. The uplifting critical smash has been praised by Rolling Stone, Taste of Country, and more as a spiritual high-water mark. Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/craigcampbelltv/www.GaryScottThomas.com
