Digital whole-of-health provider Spectrum.Life announces a first-of-its-kind partnership with the School of Psychology, Trinity College Dublin, supporting its Doctoral Programme in Counselling Psychology. Through this initiative, Spectrum.Life has committed to funding 4 trainee places for Trinity College Dublin's School of Psychology Doctoral Programme in Counselling Psychology, for the duration of 3 years, with placements in the organisation, reinforcing its commitment to developing the next generation of mental health professionals. Spectrum.Life will be funding up to 12 places in total. We will continuously support by adding an additional 4 sponsored trainees each year. Spectrum.Life's funding boosts training capacity by 40%, accelerating the development of mental health professionals. As the only private organisation participating in addition to the public health support, this partnership highlights Spectrum.Life's leadership in advancing clinical excellence and expanding access to mental health expertise. Speaking about the partnership, Dr Emelina Ellis, Chief Clinical Officer at Spectrum.Life, emphasises its significance: "Ireland's mental health crisis won't wait, so neither can we. The shortage of psychologists is leaving too many without support, but action now will change that. Our partnership with Trinity College Dublin isn't just an investment in education, it's a direct intervention in the future of mental health care. By increasing the number of Trainee Counselling Psychologists in Trinity College Dublin by 40%, we are building the workforce needed to meet rising demand, ensuring that no one is left behind. Trinity College Dublin and Spectrum.Life are taking the lead, because building a healthier Ireland starts with the professionals we train today." Ladislav Timulak, Ph.D., Professor in Counselling Psychology, and Course Director at the School of Psychology at Trinity College Dublin, said about this collaboration: "This partnership is an important addition in responding to Ireland's mental health needs. With the support of Spectrum.Life, we are not just training students - we are building the frontline of Ireland's future mental health workforce. But this is only the beginning. To truly bridge the gap, we must expand these collaborations, alongside the public health support, we need to be bringing more private sector leaders on board to drive lasting, systemic change." A Competitive and Transformative Programme The programme has garnered significant interest, with over 200 applicants competing for a place in this year's cohort. Of the 14 places on the course per cohort, Spectrum.Life sponsors four (in addition to public health sponsorship that covers the remaining places). Those trainees that have joined Spectrum.Life are set to gain diverse clinical experience across areas including neurodiversity, digital therapies for adults, and employment support over the next years. This comprehensive training programme equips them to meet the evolving needs of individuals and organisations in a rapidly changing mental health landscape. This collaboration aligns seamlessly with Spectrum.Life's vision to change and save as many lives as possible while driving innovation and expanding access to mental health care. Driving the Future of Mental Healthcare Spectrum.Life remains at the forefront of improving mental health access through cutting-edge digital solutions. This initiative provides future psychologists with invaluable experience in delivering care remotely, a critical component in meeting the diverse needs of communities across Ireland. As the only private organisation participating in this programme, Spectrum.Life is leading mental health education and training. This collaboration solidifies its commitment to building a robust and accessible mental health system that addresses the demands of the future. See more stories here.

Iridology is a natural health technique that involves examining the iris, the coloured part of the eye, to assess a person's overall health. Practitioners believe that specific areas of the iris correspond to different organs and systems in the body, revealing imbalances, weaknesses, or potential health issues. By studying patterns, colours, and other characteristics of the iris, iridologists can gain insights into a person's physical and emotional well-being. While it is not used to diagnose diseases, iridology helps identify areas where the body may need support, guiding individuals towards natural healing and preventive care. In today's episode, Philly sits down with Peter Jackson Main, a true pioneer in the field of natural healing. Peter has been teaching at CNM since 2003 and is the Course Director for Herbal Medicine, the Academic Director, and the Head of Research at the College. Today's conversation is with Bonnie Gintis, DO Bonnie lives in in northern Vermont. She has taught worldwide, addressing physicians and all people interested in exploring embodiment. She retired from Osteopathic private practice in 2009 and now devotes herself to teaching, writing, and exploring new ways to foster health and wellbeing. She is the author of Engaging The Movement Of Life: Exploring Health And Embodiment Through Osteopathy And Continuum. She is a 1986 graduate of New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she has also taught Osteopathic Principles and Practice. She has been a faculty member with the Sutherland Cranial Teaching Foundation, the American Academy of Osteopathy, the European School of Osteopathy, The German Academy for Osteopathic Medicine, and Jim Jealous, DO. Bonnie has been a board member, faculty member and Course Director for The Osteopathic Cranial Academy, and was honored with Fellowship in the Osteopathic Cranial Academy (FCA) in 2015. Bonnie studied Continuum extensively with Emilie Conrad and taught in collaboration with her from 1997 until the time of her death in 2014. She was authorized by Emilie to teach Continuum, and now teaches a synthesis of all her areas of exploration and expertise. She has had more than 50 years of meditation practice, trained to be a teacher of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and has explored many approaches to mindfulness within and outside of Buddhist traditions. Bonnie's innovative approach combines Osteopathy, Continuum's fluid movement exploration, and mindfulness, expanding the possibilities for experiencing health and embodiment and allowing for the development of perceptual skills to more deeply care for ourselves and others. https://osteopathyunplugged.com/ https://bonniegintis.com/   In today's talk discussed about what Osteopathy and Continuum are. We shared perspective on the importance of natural movement, meditation, and a holistic approach in professional practices. We also discussed ways to connect with Bonnie's work, including her wonderful book and her upcoming teaching schedule including a retreat at Kripalu in October. There was really so much territory we could cover her and I felt Bonnie did a great job to just scratch the surface without opening up too many wormholes to go down, as the topics are rather vast topics as we explore them more. I would highly recommend her book and her podcast to get a deeper sense into what Osteopathy and Continuum can be. They are practices which I am personally still so green about but have touched and changed me in profound ways. I hope if they can be supportive for you that you too can get more information to explore your inner workings through these ways of being.   If you are enjoying and getting something out of these talks, we'd appreciate it if you would leave a positive review of the podcast and subscribe to it through the platform of your choice. When you do this it really helps other people find us, and we greatly appreciate your support. In this episode of the Fueling Creativity in Education Podcast, hosts Drs. Matthew Worwood and Cyndi Burnett delve into the transformative power of creativity in education with guests Rosie Leonard-Kane and Alan Morgan from the University College Dublin Innovation Academy. Rosie, a facilitation specialist, emphasizes the critical need for a shift towards a more creative educational approach, particularly in systems heavily focused on examinations. Alan, an entrepreneurial specialist and program director, discusses the vital role of developing educators' creative confidence and mindset. Together, they highlight the necessity of embracing and nurturing creativity to rekindle educators' passion for teaching. Throughout the episode, the conversation covers the challenges and potential solutions for integrating creativity into educational practices. The discussion includes the impact of the pandemic on educational creativity, the shift to online learning, and the opportunity it presents to expand program reach and incorporate experiential learning virtually. The hosts and guests also touch on the importance of developing an entrepreneurial mindset in teachers, employing design thinking, and fostering an environment of innovation and flexibility. Practical tips for educators on starting small with creativity in the classroom and fostering a culture of curiosity and collaboration are shared, making this a must-listen for educators looking to enhance their teaching approach and inspire their students. About our guests: Rosie Leonard-Kane Rosie started her career as a secondary level (high school) maths teacher. She worked in London's most deprived areas where educational outcomes are still closely linked to socio-economic background. Amidst a culture of high-stakes exam pressure, Rosie found joy in finding creative ways to engage her students in learning and loving maths, and soon found herself sharing her approaches with other colleagues. This led to a move into teacher training and development where Rosie's passion for supporting others to unleash their own creativity and innovation in their teaching grew. She now works as a Facilitation Specialist at the UCD Innovation Academy where she has, what she describes as, the ‘absolute privilege' of working with Educators across all levels of education to develop creative confidence and adapt their approach to teaching and learning so that their students get the kind of education that they all deserve, not just focused on passing the test. Alan Morgan Alan Joined the UCD Innovation Academy in 2019 and he now holds positions as an Entrepreneurial Specialist, Facilitator and Programme Director for The Professional Diploma in Creativity & Innovation in Education (Educators Programme for short). Before joining the Academy, Alan held key positions at Kaplan Dublin Business School (DBS) including Course Director for Marketing and various lecturing roles in Marketing subjects. While working at DBS, Alan studied Entrepreneurial Education at The Innovation Academy - and this change his life..! It was at this time that he developed a passion for creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial thinking in education. Winning two awards at DBS for ‘Above & Beyond' in his work with students, Alan then moved on and joined the UCD Innovation Academy where he became Programme Director for the course that changed his life..! Alan has built and developed the Educators Programme, particularly through the Pandemic years, to it now being an internationally recognised programme for educators at all levels. Alan is currently in the final stages of a Doctorate of Education with The University of Wales Trinity Saint David – his research topic is centred around the Cultivation of an Entrepreneurial Mindset in Primary School in Ireland. Before his days working in education, Alan had a successful career as an International Retail Buyer.   Eager to bring more creativity into your school district? In this episode, I speak with Laco about his work and research in the area of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). Laco discusses how he originally was trained in Client Centered Therapy and was drawn to Les Greenberg's, Emotion-Focused Therapy as it was an extension of Carl Rogers' work, with Les Greenberg being a student of one of Rogers' students. We discussed Emotion-Focused Therapy and how Les Greenberg and others were studying the change moments in therapy, and were conducting process research on Gestalt interventions using empty chair work and two-chair dialogues with self-criticism. He explained that in EFT, the therapist is trying to access the core of the pain and the unmet needs. He discussed how emotions are seen as either being at the symptom level, or are the underlying emotions, and the therapists is identifying those underlying emotions and emotion schemes, which are the target of intervention. He discussed his work on identifying transdianostic features of Emotion-Focused Therapy and discussed how most of these pivotal painful moments had to do with either the emotions of feeling sad/lonely, shame, or fear. He explained that through the imaginary chair dialogues, the client is able to have a corrective experience, where compassion is elicited, like speaking to their younger self who was hurt, or healthy boundary setting anger for protection. These processes help the person's emotion schemes become more flexible, moving them from sad/lonely to feeling connected, from shame to validation and acceptance, and from fear to safety or protection. We discuss how EFT conducts extensive process research, and discussed Laco's work in research and writing, recently publishing the Transdiangosic Emotion-Focused Therapy: A Clinical Guide for Transforming Emotional Pain book with Daragh Keogh, Ph.D., and also creating a workbook for clients to be able to continue the work outside of therapy. He also discussed his work in making resources available online and possibly creating more online programs for clients to continue their work. Ladislav Timulak, PhD is Professor in Counselling Psychology at Trinity College Dublin. He is Course Director of the Doctorate in Counselling Psychology. Ladislav (or short Laco; read Latso) is involved in the training of counselling psychologists. His main research interest is psychotherapy research, particularly the development of emotion focused therapy as well as online mental health interventions. He has written (or co-written) 10 books, over 100 peer reviewed papers and chapters in both his native language, Slovak, and in English. His most recent books include Transforming Emotional Pain in Psychotherapy: An Emotion‐Focused Approach (Routledge, 2015) and Transforming Generalized Anxiety: An Emotion-Focused Approach (Routledge, 2017)(with James McElvaney; 2018), and Essentials of Descriptive-Interpretive Qualitative Research: (with co-author Robert Elliott) and Transdiagnostic Emotion-Focused Therapy (with co-author Daragh Keogh) published by the American Psychological Association (2021). His latest books include Essentials of Qualitative Meta-Analysis (with Mary Creaner; American Psychological Association) and Transforming Emotional Pain: An Emotion-Focused Workbook (with several co-authors; Routledge). He provides trainings for clinicians using the approach presented in his books internationally. He directs Emotion-Focused Therapy Research Group and co-directs an E-Mental Health Research group. He previously co-edited Counselling Psychology Quarterly. Her books have been published by Random House, HarperCollins, Allison & Busby, and Shanghai Translation Publishing House. Emily trained as an actor at Carnegie Mellon University's prestigious drama conservatory and earned a master's degree in museum studies from Seton Hall University. For six years she wrote for Games magazine, creating increasingly elaborate and lavishly illustrated logic puzzles. She lives with her husband and two sons, and teaches at the University of Cambridge Institute of Continuing Education at beautiful Madingley Hall, where she is the Course Director for Cambridge's MSt degree in Crime & Thriller Writing. Emily is represented by Cameron McClure  at the Donald Maass Literary Agency. Time to Write by Emily Winslow is an awesome author craft book written by someone who is an author and professor teaching writing. Over the years, Emily taught many different classes and finally decided to put them all together into a book. What I loved about this craft book is that it is less about what you must do and more about things you should keep in mind when writing. She doesn't say "Write your book this way," but instead suggests you think about things like the difference between plot and structure, consider what tense you are using and why, and figure out how to find your writing tribe. What's more, this book is perfect for beginners or for authors who've written several books already. Regardless of where you are, you'll get something from her lessons. In this podcast, Yannick shares how he believes coaching can play an important role for clients with an interest in using psychedelics. LSD and other psychedelics were popular in the 1960s with Timothy Leary being the guru of the age, but disrupting the field as well. At the time, psychedelics-assisted forms of therapy were first explored. Following the Nixon administration's declaration of a "war on drugs'', psychedelics have been marginalised and all research banned until the early 2000s saw a renaissance of psychedelics in the field of mental health treatment. Yannick explains how his interest was stimulated by emerging clinical research and how he started to make relevant connections to positive psychology and coaching. In this episode, he lays out his argument of why psychedelics could be used for learning, growth and well-being, and not just as a treatment for illness, and why coaching might be an ideal partner in this endeavour. In the process, Yannick describes his journey which leads to ethical questions, social questions and also questions about coaching itself. Enjoy this edgy edition of Edgy Ideas! Bio: Yannick Jacob is a Coach, Trainer & Supervisor with Masters degrees in Existential Coaching and Applied Positive Psychology. He is part of the teaching faculties at Cambridge University and the International Centre for Coaching Supervision, and he's the Course Director of the School of Positive Transformation's Accredited Certificate in Integrative Coaching, for which he gathered many of the world's most influential coaches. The Insight Book: Enhancing Your Creativity By Learning To See Things Differently by Anthony Tasgal About the Book: More than ever, people crave new ideas, new ways of seeing and interpreting behavior; changing their companies and lives, and of being more creative.  Insight today has become an essential tool for seeing things differently and more deeply to enable you to understand better the trends and changes going on around you and your work/business. This book is an entertaining, instructive, and accessible guide to understanding and deploying insight to see things differently and find creativity from all sources and in all places.  Insight has become an important way to gain a deeper understanding of how your customers think and feel about your products and services.  The book explains what insight is, why insight is so important (and yet so poorly misunderstood and under-used), and how can we nurture and develop it in our work and even personal lives. About the Author: Tas is a man of many lanyards: trainer, author, speaker, brand and communications strategist and lecturer.  He is a Course Director for the Chartered Institute of Marketing, the Market Research Society, the Institute of Internal Communication and the Civil Service College. He is a global speaker and regularly reviews the papers and contributes to marketing and communications subjects on TalkTV. His areas of expertise include storytelling, behavioral economics, insightment, and as a lapsed Classicist he also indulges in etymology and Homer (not the yellow one).  He also runs The Guardian masterclass on “Harnessing The Power Of Storytelling” and is a Brand Ambassador for Home Grown Club in London (London's leading business club).  He is the author of the award-winning The Storytelling Book: Finding the Golden Thread in Your Communications (2016),  The Inspiratorium: A Space for the Curious (2018), InCitations: Discovering A World Of Inspiration Through Quotes, Words And Expressions (2020), and The Storytelling Workbook: A Nine-Week Programme To Tell Your Story (2022).
