In this  noir psychological mystery, we meet Adam McClure, an actor in his first session with a new therapist. He's initially reluctant, yet intrigued by the prospect of finally making sense of unsettling events that happened in his life years ago. Adam  becomes more comfortable discussing his past, and another job, during which he meets the enigmatic Dylan Lodge, who quickly takes Adam under his wing.  Dylan gives Adam a book; the mystery within will prove to be important to Adam. Though they become  fast friends, Adam also recalls some unsettling moments regarding Dylan, which set up their relationship going forward. A former coworker begins to reveal some details about Caroline. Adam confronts Tom about the unsettling meeting on the street, hoping they can get on the same page about their individual and collective histories with Dylan. After the train ride, Adam is left shaken and still making sense of unsettling events of the past few days. He reveals more to his therapist about the mystery surrounding Dylan; the shift in his perception of Tom.
