Pivotal moments occur in our lives. Our decisions in those moments are what make us who we are. It's always tempting to take the route with a clear paved path, however, what does it look like to take a 'leap of faith' in yourself? Is the fear of the unknown discouraging enough to take the risk? Or can the potential for success be enough of a motivator to take that metaphorical leap? In this episode, our very own Inder Dhillon is put in the hot seat regarding her life decisions and choices. Having just shown a recent collection at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia for her co-founded label twosix., Ishprit puts her on the spot to talk through her unconventional journey in life. When did Inder decide to switch from a successful career in finance to fashion? And how has the tumultuous journey paid off along the way? Tune in to hear all the details.
Lets face it, its always easier to know what's going to happen rather than face the music of the unknown. It's like we're all desperate to know how our happily ever after is going to come to be and we'll take any and every clue along the way to help that process. But are we selectively picking up certain clues?? In this episode, Inder & Ish uncover a concept that sheds light on self-fulfilling prophecies — when a person unknowingly causes an outcome, simply because they expected it to come true. So, what's that concept?? It's the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon aka frequency illusion aka cognitive bias... Intrigued by all this mumbo jumbo?? Listen in. You might just change your outlook on your day by doing so
Ever wonder if we're living in an age that's being consumed by consumption? What voids are we filling with the endless buying sprees and materialistic goals? This topic has many facets and encompasses all aspects of our lives — career, upbringing, relationships, self worth, etc., etc., etc. In this episode, Inder & Ish only just scratch the surface of our obsession with 'things' and the discussion takes many turns, as we 100% keep it real. Inder addresses the hypocrisy in her talking about consumption while she is deeply rooted in the industry, and Ishprit discusses her newfound appreciation of 'less is more'. Tune in. It's a good one... Ishprit even puts Inder on the spot and she's actually lost for words...even if only for a split second
Are we obsessed with being 'normal'? What IS normal, anyways??! It seems we've all fixated on this concept on being normal, whilst having neglected who we really are ourselves. However, the problem with being normal is... now, here's the kicker — that it's relative. It's relative to one's environment. It's relative to their upbringing, culture, education, workplace, country... Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera. Merriam-Websters defines normal as : "Conforming to a type, standard, or regular pattern". Are YOU being yourself? Are the decisions you're making truly YOU? Or are you conforming?? In this episode, Inder & Ish share their experiences of breaking the cycle of conforming to 'normal' and actively trying to be themselves — authentically and unapologetically.
SO! Ish wrote an article on 'All Things Ish called Friendship: Isn't it time we asses the company we keep?' and we decided it was worthy of a conversation. Are we the company we keep? How much effect do those around us really have on our day to day state of mind? In this episode, Inder & Ish chat about the underlying psychological effects our surroundings have on us. Having a bad day..Or are you taking on someone else's bad day? Listen in to find out more.
Not to make this episode too heavy, but lets chat moral responsibility for a minute. Ever find yourself witnessing something that makes you stop in your tracks? Or really shakes you to your core so much so that you can't get it out of your head for days? You replay it in your mind and play out the different ways you could or should have reacted/acted/intervened. Yet, it wasn't your place. Or at least, you convince yourself that.In this episode, we chat about The Bystander Effect — We share with you the research based evidence that supports/founded the phenomenon of the bystander effect, Inder and Ish share some of their stories of when they were observers of uncomfortable experiences and we discuss how to counter the way our minds have been wired to react in these sorts of situations. Please note — this episode contains stories of the sensitive nature and may not be for the faint hearted.
