Welcome to the ‘Julie Cross’ Podcast SHOW! What you can expect when you stop by is that you will be empowered, energised or entertained… or perhaps all three at once. This will happen through the sharing my thoughts, learning and reflections. It will happen through storytelling, sharing both my s…
In these times where we are in constant change and uncertainty, we need to nurture ourselves mentally, emotionally and spiritually. https://www.juliecross/backstage
Another #thomaskentcan funny moment... as we are exposed to more people and more situations I learn the conversations I still have not had with Thomas... like the fact that men marry men and women marry women, it was an interesting conversation initially!
#thomaskentcan... make me laugh. You know there will always be a funny story somewhere with me! Autism tends to have no filter so I find myself having to be very aware of what Thomas is saying and how that is coming across to his customers... oh you just have to laugh!
#thomaskentcan... As many of you know I have helped Thomas start his own business, it has been difficult to find a job with Autism along for the ride and I was so tired of hearing everything he can't do... and in case you don't know my married name is 'Kent', so we called his business Thomas Kent Can! What we focus on expands so let us start concentrating on what he can do not just what he can't do! This is some of what we have both learn along the way.
We will all have challenges to face and move through, it is helpful to notice your thinking so that you can ask yourself if it is serving you in this situation, and then remember that you can change your thoughts to improve your outlook which will empower you to take the steps necessary to move through the challenges, this is an example of how I had to do that.
Leadership Versus Management... what is the difference between leadership and management and can we be good at one and not the other? It times of natural disasters and major challenges 'Leadership' is always under the spotlight, and rightly so, because it is in these times a country, or a community, needs a strong leader to calm, care, comfort and empower the people to know they can handle the situation, and that as a leader they will be walking beside them every step of the way.
Happy 2020... and so the New Year is in full swing now and yet again it has begun with some major challenges... fires, floods and a virus... and maybe you have your own challenges too... but let us remember it will be up to us to make the year great no matter the circumstances, because there will be good, bad, happy and sad... that is just how years tend to be!
As we move into a new year in business let us put service in focus! And remember service has to be taught and managed... we can't just hope they will get it right!
It seems that many team members have a 'fear' around asking for the sale or suggesting extra purchases... and often it stems from a fear of selling... so is it selling or is it service? Let's get a whole new perspective on the relationship between sales and service...
Service, service, service!! What happened to service?? I hear business's complaining about business... blaming on line shopping... well how about we get back into our circle of influence, control what we can and lift our standard of service and get back to connecting with our customers! My little rant on that!
An article in the paper and this is the headline. Yes, indeed sometimes we are sad simply because we are going through some sad stuff... sometimes it just needs to be validated not cured. It is time to normalise emotions, because they really are just that... normal. Life is a 'feeling' journey full of happiness and sadness and sometimes we just simply need to be in the moment and then allow yourself to move to the next one! Normal stuff!
Thank you for what you have given Thomas in his first week... and its so much more than money!
And this is so often where it all falls apart. So many people talking the talk and not walking the walk. Robin Sharma says, 'If only we did what we said we were going to do... I mean, just imagine that, just imagine we did all those things we said we would... some discipline is required and discipline is a muscle that requires a regular work out or it gets weak. And then sometimes you have to do what you ought to do not what you feel like doing! Let's do it!
Yes, it is I give and I receive... we have to give to get back. Whatever we want more of we simply have to give more of. So, if we want more respect, we give more respect, we want more love, we give more love. And don't wait for somebody else to get the giving started, let's start right now, right here today, and watch and feel what happens. And remember, sometimes it takes a while to come around... but just don't give up on the giving.

In the teaching of 'Abraham' Esther and Jerry Hicks talk about the power of your 'energy'... how you feel and how important it is that you are noticing how you are feeling. Like energy attracts like energy, so it makes sense that we take notice of how we are feeling and take action if we are not feeling so great. We explore the connection between our thinking and our moods... Marianne Williamson says that we have become much to tolerant of mind wandering and I think she is right. Time to grab our thoughts and choose high energy thinking.
The most famous line of the song and the one that is most often quoted. And rightly so because this is where it all starts. Let's explore again relationship we have with ourselves... because that is the foundation of all other relationships. Our mental and emotional health depend on us having a strong relationship with ourselves.
We explore the concepts and philosophies behind this line of the 'Sparkle Chorus'. It is more than just about goal setting or wishful thinking it is a trust that life is supporting you, a faith that the Universe is conspiring your favour and that in the end it really does work out perfectly. It's a much more peaceful way to live.
Power of affirmations and why they do and don't work

Good morning friends. Julie Cross here. Happy Monday. Beautiful day here in Red Cliff on this beautiful Monday morning. I just thought I'd call it muscle up Monday. I was going for a walk and I was having this thought that we really do have to muscle up sometimes with our feelings and with our mental thinking to create the energy that we want to create. I was asked at a conference recently, "Julie, how do you recreate your passion? How do you stay motivated and enthusiastic?" Because the truth is there are times where I don't. The is truth there's times there's stuff going on home, I got to get on the stage and my energy's low. I'm feeling low. There's times where I'll wake up and my energy's low. So when I talked about muscling up with this and taking control and making a decision, because passion and enthusiasm and emotions, you just wait to drop on you. You don't go driving to work and going, "I'm just waiting for the passion to drop on me. Is it to show up? Not feeling it. Nope, hasn't arrived." So you get to work and well, you know, I waited. It never showed up. Not feeling very enthusiastic today. No, it's something, it's a verb. Passion, love, enthusiasm. They verbs, they're action words. So if the feeling isn't there, then you muscle up. You do something, you think something to create the feeling and then the energy catches up with you. So you'd say to yourself, if I was feeling passionate about my work, what would my face look like? And you'd make your face look like that. If I was feeling passionate about my job and somebody said, how's work? What would I say? I'd say great, and then suddenly the energy is catching up with you. So that's what it's about. It's about that in all of life situations, we're all going to have times where we feel our energy waning and we're feeling in a bit of a downward spiral and we've got to muscle up and we've got to decide from here that we've got to work a little harder on it. I always say that your relationship with your job is a little bit like a relationship with a partner. You first meet and it's so exciting. You can't wait to see them, you have that passion's really like bubbling up and the phone rings and it's them. It's so exciting and it's a little bit like that when you first start a new job. That you got the job, you're excited, there's so much to learn, the enthusiasm levels high, you make sure on your first day you're there on time. Then with the relationship, you move in together and they leave the toilet seat up and it's still exciting because you're so in love. Then you get married, you have kids and you get tired and suddenly when they leave the toilet seat up, it's not funny anymore. It's not great anymore. So that's where passion goes from being a feeling to something then you've got to work on, keep creating. It's the same with your job. You've got to keep creating that feeling and then let the energy catch up with you. So sometimes we just got to work a little harder at creating that and we're worth it. We're worth it. I mean, we deserve a passionate, exciting life. So it's muscle up Monday. Let's get those mental and emotional muscles strong so that we can have the days that we deserve. Have a great Monday friends and thanks for joining me. I look forward to seeing you soon. Bye.
A great case study in how easy it is to provide great service in a small local business
Exercise is the best, cheapest, most accessible medicine available. www.exerciseismedicine.org.au And yet with all of this research we will still make excuses and not do the exercise. Well no more excuses.
Sometimes it would be easier to stay but the price would have been to never find myself... reflections on my journey in a relationship at 18 and the courage it took to walk away.
Leading up to an election so much talk about our economic health, and I understand that is important, of course I do... but I have got to tell you I am a little more concerned at the moment for our society's emotional and mental health, strength and wellbeing.
Just get started! I see so many people waiting until it all looks perfect before they get started, I have always been a clunker not a glider and I know for sure that if I had waited for everything to be perfect, for my ducks to all be lined up, then I would never have got started. It will be messy, because life is messy... and success can emerge from messy!
Now is your time, if you have ever wanted to stand out from the crowd in your business then now really is your time. It is the simple interactions done well that will lift your customers experience to a level that is far more superior than your competitors. And remember that great great service is caught not taught, and don't blame them if you aren't going to train them.
we will all have to enter the ocean of grief at some point, because life is like that, so we can't avoid it, but we can choose how we swim though it and the lessons we get from it. These are some of my reflections, and maybe they can help you swim a little stronger.
yes, have you heard everybody talking about it? Of course you have... our children need it, we need it... so where do we get it and where did it go and where can I find it! EMERALD... the 'BUILDING RESILIENCE SHOW' is coming your way! juliecross.com.au/events
Julie Cross here back fresh from a workout, if I just waited 'til I did my hair, my makeup to come to you, I probably would never get round to it. Sometimes we've just got to take the passion when it shows up and go for it. So, tonight's the night, it's Adults Only live in Brisbane and Julie Cross Unplugged.

little things are big things! So often in our service we forget to focus on the little things and we forget to teach our staff members why the little things matter... how we do the little things will impact our service and also our success on a big way!
