Abigail Fuller may not be a household name yet but the project she just completed directing most certainly is. Chef's Table, on Netflix, has become one of the streaming giant's most highly regarded shows mixing the tried and true food on television method with high art. However Abigail's story is not defined by one spectacular project, it is instead the culmination of years of hard work and networking. With her feature documentary, Do You Dream in Color?, about to be released to the public and one of her two episodes of Chef's table being released today, Abigail is a woman on the rise. So, today, on a special Friday edition of the Life of Cahill podcast, it only seems right that Abigail Fuller stops by and asks herself, How Did I Get Here?

Toughness is not an attribute used very often to describe artists. However it is the perhaps the best way to describe J Van Auken. Growing up in icy Minnesota J realized his true calling was to make his movies look like TV, so he set off for one of the toughest film programs in the country and eventually found his way to Los Angeles. After working on bad projects as a cinematographer just to pay the rent it was clear J needed a change. Since, he has put up life and limb in order to see his feature film, Revelator, become a reality. Using a combination of relationships and saved up money to direct and star in the horror thriller that will be released later this year J truly embodies the indie filmmaker spirit. This week on Life Of Cahill J Van Auken, in part one of a two part conversation, sits down and asks himself, how did I Get Here?
J Van Auken worked on set on no budget films for a long time while he saved up the money to make a feature film. Once he got his chance he took it and ran with it, no matter what the cost. Tune in next tuesday to hear the stories that led J Van Auken to make "Revelator."

Benjamin Wiessner would make the perfect role model for any filmmaker. Fueled by a desire to not let anything, including money, get in his way Benjamin has learned what it takes to be an indie producer through hard work and sometimes failure. However, over the last five years Benjamin, along with his friends and collaborators, has gotten eight films into SXSW and his most recent film, Thunder Road, just won the Jury Prize at this year's Sundance Film Festival.
Next week on Life of Cahill: Sundance Grand Jury Prize winning producer Benjamin Weissner stops by to tell us all about how he got involved in Thunder Road.
On the first edition of "How Did I Get Here" Scott Storm describes his story and his path on the way to become a filmmaker.
Desmond Bergin and Michael Nowak have a vision. They have a vision of a short film that captures a feeling that many, if not all, of us have experienced. But more than that they are young filmmakers who are trying to make a name for themselves and I can't think of a pair more deserving.
