Adam's Paternity Leave continues, so why not cross the finish line of the three-part bonanza that put Captain Don Cragen in more existential peril more than any Captain should be. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. A few resourceful new Munchies have figured out a work-around where you can join as a free member and upgrade from there to a paid account which charges you for one month and unlocks the back catalog behind the respective tier of the paywall. After that first payment, you won't be charged again until we're dropping new content (which we'll warn everyone is coming), so if you want more of this it can be had, along with access to the fully uncut episodes from 100 to present and Movie Club episodes. In Part 2 of our deconstruction of the epic two-parter, "Lost Reputation/Above Suspicion" (S14E01), Josh and Adam get deep into the nitty gritty of the pressing questions that energize Munchheads the world over: Which French noir director had a better grasp of mise en scene, Jean-Pierre Melville or Henri-Georges Clouzot? Is consensual knife play more GGG than paying escorts to talk to pathetic old men? Is Dean Winters actually, after all these years, a good actor? Find out the answers to these important questions plus a breakdown of the massive amount of plot in this mega episode of Law & Order: SVU.Music:Divorcio Suave - "Munchy Business"Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Roni C, Nourhane B, Erin M, Florina C, Melissa H, and Olivia - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! In today's episode, "GFWI Movie Club: Jaws," the crew gets into everything JAWS! This classic movie celebrated its 50th anniversary this summer so there was no way we were missing this one. Join us as we point out the strengths and weaknesses of this movie. We highly suggest re-watching before the episode since it makes the observations that much more salient. Learn about the history, the making and the symbolism behind one of Steven Spielberg's most famous movies, and the movie that launched a future with summer blockbuster films. This podcast is brought to you by the bull shark, the likely actual culprit for shark attacks and who probably should have been the star of this movie. The bull shark is named for its stocky shape, broad snout and aggressive behavior. It may come as no surprise to you that they do not possess horns. The Bull shark is also incredibly tolerant to freshwater and they can travel far up rivers. They can be seen kayaking up rivers during the summer. Just kidding. But don't be surprised if you spot one there and do not approach them. Cheers to you, bull shark! Thanks for listening to Gettin' Fishy With It! This televised love song to Dann Florek provided so much material for Josh and Adam that it had to be broken up into roughly equal parts. This week's topics include GamerGate, a Meadow Soprano drinking game, obscure Haitian rums, tulpas, Henry Winkler, and, of course, an in-depth history of the wizened, hairline-challenged, not-quite-leading men of television. Welcome to a #OneBeerFriday! Mike'l is in today for Josh, we talk about Unbroken for Movie Club, and more!
A delightful recap of a rather delightful Wes Anderson movie starring Gene Hackman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Stiller, and the Wilson brothers!
Had the great pleasure to sit down with Oliver Bateman of Oliver Bateman Does the Work to discuss 1989's No Holds Barred starring Hulk Hogan. The film is a failure on most technical and artistic dimensions but retains a certain charm. I enjoyed watching it. It's free on Tubi, but you don't really need to see it in order to follow our conversation, which is only partially about the film.I've been reading Oliver's work for the past few years and he's a great writer. I suggest you go subscribe to his Substack. No paywall on this episode but please consider becoming a paid subscriber to the Granite Mtn. Movie Club. This wild ride takes us down a slew of odd paths, including discoveries of Rollins's economic beliefs, explorations into load volume, lamenting meddlesome US foreign policy, and travel recommendations for border towns. LUKE FUCKING PERRY, Y'ALL.Are you holding onto your butts? Are you ready to have Law & Order: Special Victims Unit lay waste to your childhood? To destroy the sacred bond you shared with THE heartthrob of the '90s? To see the profound damage said heartthrob did to the very recognizable women he violated after leaving the glamorous environs of Beverly Hills? In what might be the stuntcastiest episode in SVU's storied history, Dylan McKay (Luke Perry) does some pretty bad things to Darlene Conner (Sara Gilbert), Carol Vecsey (Julie Bowen), and our collective innocence. Undercover Mother is frankly an insufficient moniker to give this episode, as another mother goes undercover for our undercover mother, along with most of the rest of the Unit. Insanity reins supreme as SVU's undercover op interferes with Declan Murphy's own undercover op, one in which he's working on taking down the brutal Johnny D but not without showing that he's in so deep that he's basically a human trafficker himself. Oscar season is in its FINAL WEEK! We are mellowing out a bit to check out Past Lives, a quiet little movie from a first time director that certainly made a great first impression! Did this blow us away or leave us feeling like we wanted to leave our "Life" in the "Past?" (These descriptions can't all be winners.)
This week's Movie Club marks the beginning of the Red Web Civil War as Jillian makes the team watch Skinamarink. It's time to pick a side, Task Force: are you on Team Jillian or Team Alfredo? On Today's Podcast: We go over this weeks movie in the Movie Club. We check in with Greg's Mom Ginger. We also give you an ALL NEW Love Trap.
We talk about the 2020 Time-Loop romcom!
Vinnie's kids have big plans for his vacation! Sarah is feeling “fully old.” It's time for another installment of Bob's Movie Club! This week is ‘Time After Time.' Then, what would you be willing to do for a Million Dollars? Did you know Walmart sold this stuff? Stranger Things' has dropped the trailer for its 5th and final season. Pete Davidson's girlfriend, Elsie Hewitt, is pregnant! A love triangle leads to violence. Plus, tattoos have trends just like everything else - these are some of the worst. Emma Watson has been banned from driving for 6 months. Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna's friendship in the 90s ended abruptly because of Chris Martin. Vinnie tells us about The Trevor Project and California's announcement to fill the gap amongst youth LGBTQ+ protections being cut. Plus, Bartenders are now using cards to discreetly tell drunk people they've been cut off.
Sarah, Vinnie, and Bob are sharing their thoughts on ‘Time After Time' - the time travel was weak, but the vibes were high! What would you be willing to do for a Million Dollars? A Florida man is in the news for robbing a Walmart, and we didn't know they even sold this stuff!
The gang dives into the 1979 sci-fi thriller 'Time After Time' where London's Jack The Ripper steals HG Wells' time machine and travels to 1970s San Francisco. The plot had holes and the effects had sparkles, but we had a blast!

HR3 - Andy, Ted, and Dan take a look at the Patriots roster heading into Training Camp and discuss which players they think could find themselves as surprise cuts once Camp is all said and done. The guys react to Bill Barnwell's list ranking the 2007 Patriots as the greatest team of all time. Can a team that didn't win the Super Bowl be considered the greatest team ever? Finally, in the second edition of Ted's Movie Club, the guys review Ted's latest movie assignment, Argo.
Adam's Paternity Leave continues, so let's get dark this week. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. A few resourceful new Munchies have figured out a work-around where you can join as a free member and upgrade from there to a paid account which charges you for one month and unlocks the back catalog behind the respective tier of the paywall. After that first payment, you won't be charged again until we're dropping new content (which we'll warn everyone is coming), so if you want more of this it can be had, along with access to the fully uncut episodes from 100 to present and Movie Club episodes.Scarred by a gruesome SVU case ripped from even more grisly headlines, Adam and Josh trudge through the murk of “Hunting Ground” (Season 13, Episode 15), which forces them to get familiar with the Long Island serial killer. While exploring the most devastating ep in Munchstory thus far, the topics of Amaro's olfactory prowess, the chance that he'll get a thirst for blood, the hazards of Longview, and the nuanced but tangled mess that was the Backpage are all covered. Come along for a journey through the darkness. We've got the flashlights.Music:Divorcio Suave - "Munchy Business"Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Roni C, Nourhane B, Erin M, Florina C, and Melissa H - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! Adam's Paternity Leave continues, so we're going to dive into the brainmelty world where actors from the The Wire invade SVU and throw us all into a tizzy, as they occupy a shared universe. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. A few resourceful new Munchies have figured out a work-around where you can join as a free member and upgrade from there to a paid account which charges you for one month and unlocks the back catalog behind the respective tier of the paywall. It sexually objectifies real-life 14-year-olds, it is extremely racist, it makes offhand references to piss play, and it takes us on a mind-bending Pynchonian journey to an interzone where The Wire both exists and does not exist depending on the exact placement of John Munch on the Eastern Seaboard. Join Josh and Adam as they unravel a bizarre case involving Stabler, Munch, Sister Peg, Beck (wait who?), and the cast of Season 4 of The Wire and learn about vintage Ferrari pricing, chemical spills in Nunavut, and the mating behaviors of 40-something divorced Dads.Music:Divorcio Suave - "Munchy Business"Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Roni C, Nourhane B, Erin M, and Florina C - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too!
