This week's movie was ‘Pacific Heights' starring Michael Keaton, Melanie Griffith, and Matthew Modine. Was it the best movie we've ever seen? Definitely not, but the music was good!
First up we have Bob's Movie Club. The gang is talking the highs and lows of ‘Pacific Heights' Next up: Dirty Dancing! The end of the school year is stressing out Vinnie. America's birthrate is in decline - maybe because it's straight-man-speedo-summer. Tinder is rebranding thanks to Gen Z not wanting to leave their house.
Grab a chocolate chip cookie and hang with Sarah and Vinnie and the gang! Today we have Bob's Movie Club and plenty of time to make fun of Vinnie. In the news: Why aren't people having kids, Tinder is rebranding, and Scott Budman gives us some tech updates. A Barbara Walters documentary is coming, Hailey Bieber sells Rhode, and Brad Pitt is opening up. Eating can be disgusting… and dangerous! Carrie Underwood and Jelly Roll are rumored to be working together on new music. Plus: Grown ups can't hit kids and some Brad Pitt trivia!

Adam's Paternity Leave continues, so we're going to drop in the first of two brainmelters. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. A few resourceful new Munchies have figured out a work-around where you can join as a free member and upgrade from there to a paid account which charges you for one month and unlocks the back catalog behind the respective tier of the paywall. After that first payment, you won't be charged again until we're dropping new content (which we'll warn everyone is coming), so if you want more of this it can be had, along with access to the fully uncut episodes from 100 to present and Movie Club episodes. After reckoning with the horrific current events aspect of this week's installment, Adam and Josh get down to brass tacks with “Military Justice,” which depending on where you watch it is either Episode 7 or 8 from Season 15 of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. We discuss the essence of Galveston, the most heinous crime in the Boschiverse, the general self-preservation skills of ensigns, and Rollins straight-up laying a dude out, while marveling at a shockingly good episode of SVU complete with efficacious character development and some real tearjerking moments. Bob kicks off her movie club with a lovely chat about Quentin Tarantino's ‘Once Upon A Time… In Hollywood.' Next up: ‘Pacific Heights' Then, Vinnie gives us an update on the self-driving car industry. The competition is heating up! Plus, Sarah calls out Disney, and nostalgia for the old days is strong. Adam's Paternity Leave continues, so we're busting out the second part of a hellish two-parter. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. Instead, we were treated to a mind-melting melange of unbelievable plot lines, inconceivable character motivations, and abysmal acting. Was it good? Obviously not. Did we have fun watching and then excoriating this complete and utter waste of network resources? You bet we did.Music:Divorcio Suave - "Munchy Business"Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Roni C, and Nourhane B - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! Vinnie is becoming THE dad of the skate park. Brad Pitt was spotted in New Zealand, and McDonald's is capitalizing on it. This is your official invitation to join Bob's Movie Club! Adam's Paternity Leave continues, so we're unleashing the first part of a hellish two-parter (with the second half to follow next week). Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. An unintelligible, unmitigated disaster. Reality and common sense fold in on themselves, and we're all left to try to make sense of the hellish mess that is “Remember Me” (S19E23). When character motivation, logic, and how technology actually works are entirely discarded, you are left with a confounding mélange of nonsensical dialogue and wild conclusions with nary a passing relationship to reality. Needless to say, this ride—a wild one for all the wrong reasons—gave the Munchie Boys plenty to discuss.Music:Divorcio Suave - "Munchy Business"Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Roni C, and Nourhane B - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! It's sort of like SVU that way. This week it gave an episode that takes us all on a wild ride from a stairwell in Chelsea to the grim realities of life in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Along the way, jealousy abounds, Benbot enjoy a romantic candlelit dinner, Adam breaks down the past 150 years of strife in the Congo, Amazing Grace and Chuck is deduced to have done some ripping from the headlines, no one wants to believe our victim—Lainie McCallum, played by Diora Baird—and a cut hand yields some unexpected outcomes. The Munchie Boys tackled “Witness” (S11E16), so hold on to your butts.Music:Divorcio Suave - "Munchy Business"Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Roni C, and Nourhane B - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! And that hat includes a LOT of movies, Los Angeles legends and more.Born and raised in Los Angeles, Justin has been plugged into all LA magic since birth. Video stores, bands, films and so much more.As for SURF II? Well, there's no SURF 1, the poster tagline is "The End Of The Trilogy" and this is the movie that gave the world BUZZ Cola. Still, they were not fully prepared for this vertiginous descent into the tawdry wrinkled world of swinging elder sex. If you want an in-depth discussion of the ethics of mercy killing, the NYPD's somewhat lax emergency first aid standards, and whether or not one should speak to the police while wearing nothing but a fully open robe and a smirk, then you've come to the right podcast. Benson, Stabler and the rest of the squad are joined by stars Jane Krakowski and Anthony Rapp for "Bound" (Season 5, Episode 23). This will definitely leave you "satisfied." Along the way, we discuss the proper way to light an upskirt be-ankled panties shot, ‘90s nepotism star Barry Van Dyke, and the meaning of the phrase "iron kitten." We also talk about a few of the more famous residents of New York State's Bedford Hills Correctional Facility For Women. This is one of the standout episodes of the entire series, and though it mostly deals in shocking trauma, the writers and producers of this wonderful show found ways to sprinkle in lighthearted dick jokes throughout this heart-pounding hour of television. Adam's Paternity Leave continues, so we'll drop this fun ep with a slew of recognizable actors and a ton of problematic conent from the SVU braintrust. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. A few resourceful new Munchies have figured out a work-around where you can join as a free member and upgrade from there to a paid account which charges you for one month and unlocks the back catalog behind the respective tier of the paywall. After that first payment, you won't be charged again until we're dropping new content (which we'll warn everyone is coming), so if you want more of this it can be had, along with access to the fully uncut episodes from 100 to present and Movie Club episodes.Law & Order: SVU is often salacious and upsetting and certainly problematic, but rarely does an episode—“Brotherhood” (S5E12)—reference foreign object anal penetration a whopping 22(!) times. Obviously, for the love of all things good, please be warned that we will be talking A LOT about that triggering subject. Of course we will also be discussing exotic woods, waste water treatment facilities, Lutheran traffic patterns, Josh's COVID scare (he's negative), and Adam's salad days. You're not going to forget this one anytime soon, and you will NEVER look at a wooden handle the same way again.Music:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Roni C, and Nourhane B - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! We talk about the 2017 Yorgos Lanthimos film.
We got a bad one this week! One of the most disappointing---but talent filled films ever---it's "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".. Comic and Host Steve Mazan interviews the person who recommended we revisit this film, comedian Lesli Simms. Plus the Irish Critic joins in with her thoughts. Is this any good? Why was the director such a bold choice? Is it the most disappointing movie of all time? Should the actors have spoke? Are any of the songs as good as the Beatles? What's up with that balloon? All these questions and more get answered on this week's Mazan Movie Club Podcast. "Sgt Pepper" on IMDB Home of the Mazan Movie Club Steve Mazan on Instagram Home of Corporate Comedian Steve Mazan
Another Paternity Leave Installment, and this time we're going with a pretty famous double-ripped-from-the-headlines episode. Patreon payments are frozen for the time being. A few resourceful new Munchies have figured out a work-around where you can join as a free member and upgrade from there to a paid account which charges you for one month and unlocks the back catalog behind the respective tier of the paywall. We learn about old New York when it was still basically New Amsterdam; we break down Cybill Shepherd's accent as it wavers in and out of caricature; we delve into the Trayvon Martin and Paula Deen cases from whose headlines this episode was ripped; we learn about John Cougar Mellencamp's extended family; and, we definitely talk about whether or not it's socially acceptable to deck a bald man in the middle of the night on a lonely street corner. Enjoy!Sources:The Five Points - WikipediaTrayvon Martin's Parents Five Years On - The GuardianThe Real Problem With Paula Deen - EaterMusic:Divorcio Suave - “Munchy Business”Thanks to our gracious Munchies on Patreon: Jeremy S, Jaclyn O, Amy Z, Diana R, Tony B, Zak B, Barry W, Drew D, Nicky R, Stuart, Jacqi B, Natalie T, Robyn S, Christine L, Amy A, Sean M, Jay S, Briley O, Asteria K, Suzanne B, Tim Y, John P, John W, Elia S, Rebecca B, Lily, Sarah L, Melsa A, Alyssa C, Johnathon M, Tiffany C, Brian B, Kate K, Whitney C, Alex, Jannicke HS, Roni C, and Nourhane B - y'all are the best!Be a Munchie, too! Anne Carlisle - the star and co-writer of LIQUID SKY and James St. James join me for an in-depth exploration of this pioneering film. One of the first films to explicitly depict & discuss pansexuality, androgyny & gender fluidity in any substantial way, LIQUID SKY also serves as an essay on toxic masculinity, ingrained homophobia and the ingrained misogyny of both overground & underground culture. LIQUID SKY's hyper-stylized neon soaked aesthetic & aggressively bizarre, completely electronic score has continued to influence fashion, music and pop-culture in general since initial release in 1983.It's also a science fiction picture. AND the male and female leads are played by the same person. PLUS... LIQUID SKY features the second and final role for mysterious cult actress Paula Sheppard (ALICE, SWEET ALICE). We find out what Paula was like, where she likely went and how she feels about her acting career now.Youtube https://youtu.be/HN6JxfTi2Ow
The show returns from hiatus with the return of my dear friend and Movie Club all-star Jason Shawhan. We taped this in the afterglow of a New Beverly double-feature of the two films Goldie Hawn & Chevy Chase did together, Foul Play & Seems Like Old Times. We talk Barry Manilow, Billy Barty, Under The Rainbow, Stanley's stylish swingers pad, Billy Barty, San Francisco, nightmarish theme songs, Bette Midler, Tuesday Weld and the mystery of Chicken Pepperoni.
