Hi. My name is Katie Legate. I’m 25 years old and I think I’m a Zillennial? Follow along as I share advice, stories and memories from my life as someone stuck in between two significant generations.
This is it! We made it to episode 30 of My Zillennial Life! I have decided that this is the finale of season 1. And on this last episode, we're talking themed restaurants. Places like The Rainforest Cafe, Hard Rock Cafe and Planet Hollywood were some of the many themed restaurants that gained popularity in the 90s. And although I have only been to a few themed restaurants, I do find lots of nostalgia in the memories I made at these places. This is the last episode of this season and so I do want to thank everyone who has tuned in and listened throughout the last 9 MONTHS! It's been so fun! I will be taking a break for a bit to regain some creativity and brainstorm episode topics for Season 2. I hope you all have an amazing June (and maybe July). I'll be back soon!
On the 29th episode of My Zillennial Life, we're talking video games! From the Oregon Trail to Sims 2 and every Call of Duty Game ever, my younger years were full of fun games. I decided it'd be fun to sit down and talk Webkinz, days of trying to win The Oregon Trail and the year people were literally dying to get their hands on the Nintendo Wii. This is the second to last episode of Season 1 of MZL. I hope you all enjoy!
"Chueg" or "Chuegy" originated as a word in 2013 and has recently resurfaced on TikTok and social media platforms. It is Gen Z's way of calling things that millennials tend to do untrendy, basic or uncool in general. I think the term is hilarious and is a light hearted way of poking fun at some of the pop culture and fashion trends I myself even have enjoyed throughout the years. From ugg boots to having a weird obsession with the "The Office," there are lots of things that can be considered chuegy. So...are you a little chueg?
in this week's episode of My Zillennial Life, I decided to travel down memory lane and chat about the difference places I have gotten the chance to visit. From family vacations to Texas to studying abroad in Greece, traveling has always been a love of mine! Although 2020 put a stop to many of our adventures, I am hopeful that soon we will be able to experience new destinations again soon.
I have had quite a busy, sad and also joyful past week or so. I decided it'd be a good idea to sit down and vent about the recent events in my life. From tragedies and loss to my celebrating my birthday and attending a beautiful wedding, life has been quite the rollercoaster recently. It feels like the people I love can never catch a break and grief is always waiting around the corner. I wanted to spend this episode sharing what the last 10+ days have taught me.
On the 24th episode of My Zillennial Life, I decided to tackle my anxieties and cover some of the most common worries amongst zillennials and millennial. This week's episode was inspired by the fact that I am facing one of my fears this week and will be going to get my COVID-19 vaccination. I have dealt with "white coat syndrome" and "vasovagal syncope" my entire life. So going to the doctor and getting a shot is not an easy task for me. I hope you all enjoy this episode and can relate to it in some way. We all have our own battles in life. This is just one of mine.
On the 23 episode of My Zillennial Life, I cover everything from The Teletubbies and Lizzie Mcguire to Courage the Cowardly Dog and Dragon Tales. That's right, we're talking TV shows from our childhood! I decided to go through a list of 70 tv shows that many Zillennials may be familiar with. I hope you all enjoy this week's episode! Let me know which TV shows were your favorite as a kid. Follow me on Instagram @myzillennialpod to keep up with future episodes and see some rad memes. ;)
In this week's episode of My Zillennial Life, I decided to talk relationships. Specifically the idea that many Zillennials and Millennials are choosing to get married later in life or not married at all. I personally think marriage is a very beautiful but also very outdated concept. If anything, I want this episode to remind you that everyone is on their own timeline and path in life. Just because you're not married or don't have kids, doesn't make you any less of a human.
Take a shot every time I say "pandemic" in this episode and I can guarantee you'll get drunk. This is the episode that no one asked for, but I'm doing it anyways. I have always been someone who likes to reflect on the past and be nostalgic. Whether it's chatting about memories from sad or happy times in our lives, I love looking back on what's happened. And in this case, well it's a lot. So I decided to spend 40+ minutes discussing what the COVID-19 quarantine experience was like for me and what it taught me. I also discuss some purchases I made that I regret and don't regret. And unlike most episodes of this podcast, I basically don't touch on being a Zillennial at all. I believe that no matter what generation you're in, this past year and the experience in the pandemic is all something we've gone through together. It's something we'll remember forever. So that's why I wanted to sit down and share my thoughts and the things that 2020 taught me. And the things I am continuing to learn and this virus drudges on. This may have been a gloomy episode, but that wasn't my intention. Enjoy!
Millennials are destroying cereal, killing canned tuna, American cheese and wrecking department stores? That is according to "experts." In the 20th episode of MZL, I decided to dive into the 14 industries that millennials are being accused of destroying. Are we really causing harm to these businesses? Or is it just the way things go?
If you haven't hear of The Mandela Effect, you're actually sorta lucky. This is a phenomenon that confuses the heck out of everyone who tries to understand it. It is something that makes us question our memory...which is never fun. But with that said, I thought it would be fun to discuss some Mandela Effect topics in this episode and see if any Zillennials remember these pop culture things differently than what they actually are. The Berenstain Bears, Nelson Mandela's Death and even Double Stuf Oreos. That's right, STUF. Not Stuff. So sit back, relax and get ready to be confused. Because that's all I was during this entire episode.
Hello and welcome back to another episode of My Zillennial Life! I can't believe we are already 18 episodes in. In this episode I finally got a new mic and we discuss the recent trend of Gen Z talking sh*t on Millennials (aka My Generation Technically). Buzzfeed came in clutch again with this episode and I had a blast basically spending the entire time just bashing my own generation. I feel there is a lot to learn from both Gen Z and Millennials...which is probably why I consider myself a Zillennial and created this podcast in the first place. Anyways, I hope you enjoy this episode! Thanks for listening!
Welcome to the 17th episode of My Zillennial Life. In this episode I decided to cover a topic that I have always loved...Pets. I grew up with lots of pets and have endless stories about them. But mainly, I wanted to talk about my experience taking care of these pets and how it could have been better. I feel as though many Millennials grew up with the occasional pet hamster, gold fish or hermit crab. I love animals. I always have. So growing up with pets was a blessing and it taught me so much. I hope you all can learn something from this episode and enjoy it! Thank you for listening.
Hi! Welcome to another episode of My Zillennial Life! In this week's episode I decided, as usual, to get nostalgic. So sit back and listen to me dive in to things and experiences that our future children (and kids these days) won't ever know. Things like trips to Blockbuster, Live Lobsters at the Grocery Store, Going to the Mall and More! Let me know if I should do a part 2 to this episode. Don't forget to leave a rating and subscribe if you haven't already. As always, thank you for listening!
I am back! Happy 2021! I am happy to say I should be back on a regular schedule now and will have a new episode up every Friday at 12 p.m. CST as usual. With my family moving on NYE and the holidays, I definitely needed some time off! But I am happy to have been able to sit down and actually talk in this episode about why it is that I (a 25 year old woman) still live at home with my family. I hope you enjoy this episode and I can't wait for you to hear what I have in store for future epsiodes.
Let's talk toys and CHRISTMAS! Christmas 2020 is just one week away and I cannot believe how quickly this year flew by. I say that at the end of every year. But this year especially felt like it went by in the blink of an eye...yet also felt super long. Anyone else feel that way? Anyways, I am just happy to see 2020 is coming to an end. I wanted to chat Christmas memories and 90s toys that only Zillennials will remember. Don't forget to give me a rating and follow me @myzillennialpod.
I am back with a new episode! This week's episode I decided to go over 30 candies and sweets that only Gen Z and Millennials will likely remember. This was a fun and laid back episode that I recorded with my Apple headphones so I apologize for the quality. I am trying to get back on track with recording every week and setting an actual schedule. But as I explain in this episode, my life has been a little crazy lately. Thank you all for tuning in! I am so thankful for your continued support.
In normal 2020 fashion, I ended up spending my Halloween getting tested for COVID and proceeded to quarantine with my boyfriend for the last 2 weeks. Thank you all for your patience as I took the last 2 weeks off from uploading podcast episodes. I am thankful my symptoms were not bad as others but nonetheless I did feel a little too physically and mentally drained to get an episode up. Between the election, my parent's deciding to sell our house and me being exposed to COVID, it has been a draining past few weeks. I am happy to report that I am feeling better now and I wanted to come back with a new MZL episode to chat about my experience with this virus and to remind you all to wear your masks + wash your hands! Stay safe and thank you for tuning in to another episode of My Zillennial Life.
Listener Discretion is advised for this episode. In the final episode of My Spooky Zillennial Life, I decided to take MORE quizzes. We find out which horror movie villain I would be and which stereotypical horror movie character I would be. I also touched on three things that happened in my October that were positive. I decided to end this special episode by talking a little bit about Skinwalker Ranch. This creepy ranch in Utah is full of unexplained occurrences including aliens and skinwalkers. I have had so much fun recording My Spooky Zillennial Life this past month and am so thankful to everyone who has tuned in!
In the 4th episode (10th official episode) of My Spooky Zillennial Life, I decided to research the most popular Halloween costumes throughout the years. From 1980-2005, I go over what all the cool kids were wearing each year for Spooky season! I also decided to touch on how other countries celebrate Halloween. We end the episode with one of my favorite urban legends of all time. Something about a clown...statue? I hope you enjoy this week's episode!
Welcome to the third episode of My Spooky Zillennial Life! In this week's episode, I decided to touch on a big lesson I've learned this year. I also wanted to tell a few scary stories including one sent in by my good friend Amanda! If you have a spooky story to share, feel free to email it to me at makeupkatie95@gmail.com.
HELLO! You are listening to the 2nd episode of My SPOOKY Zillennial Life (2020). I decided to sit down today and go over all of the Halloween costumes I has throughout the years + give a shout out to The Radkast for recommending a great 80s slasher I had the pleasure of watching last Friday. I actually had a hard time remembering what I was for Halloween each year so I did my best and told the stories and memories I have connected to those costumes. Halloween is my favorite time of the year and favorite holiday! So this was definitely a fun experience and a test of my memory. I ended by telling a scary (true) story sent in by Kristin Zeiter. It was truly so chilling and definitely one I won't forget.
Welcome to the first episode in my 4 part series of My SPOOKY Zillennial Life. Each week this October, I will spend 30+ minutes chatting about all things scary. In this episode, I dive in to my top 10 favorite horror movies and take a fun quiz.
In this week's episode of My Zillennial Life, I decided to tell my story on how in 2012, I went viral on YouTube. I have shared my life through YouTube videos for the past 10 years and it has shaped me into the woman I am today. I thought it would be fun to share my YouTube journey as well as touch on how I recently had a TikTok go viral and how that has impacted my 2020. Thank you for listening!
This episode dives in to the random and quite interesting topic of Angel Numbers and the meaning of the number that I see very often. I end the episode by taking a quiz on Buzzfeed.com to test what percentage of a 90s kid I actually am. We get nostalgic as usual. You know the drill.
On this week's episode of My Zillennial Life we touch on a few fun and memorable fashion trends from the 90s and early 2000s. I also go over the proposal that I got to document a week ago and how Labor Day Weekend 2020 is one I will remember forever.
In this episode of My Zillennial Life, we take some time to reflect on the positive things that have occurred in 2020. I asked my viewers and listeners to send me some good events they experienced this year and I also shared some of my own memories. 2020 may feel like the worst year ever, but it's all about perspective.
What do you get when you mix discontinued Bath & Body Works fragrances with a brand new box of crayons? The smell of August. I am convinced back to school season has a certain nostalgic scent to it. In this episode, I dive into what this time of year smells like to others and what types of things bring back memories for them. I also discuss my blood test fiasco and my phone's recent decision to call 911 by itself, twice. Hope you all enjoy this episode!
Hi! I'm Katie Legate and this is My Zillennial Life. A podcast that's going to cover everything from tackling quarter-life struggles to stories from my relatively "exciting" life in the midwest. I wanted to take the first episode of this podcast to explain what the word "Zillennial" means to me + answer the 73 Vogue questions as a way of introducing myself! I hope you all enjoy.
