We tell our most awkward and/or funniest stories and discuss them, our feelings, our memories and our lives while trying to heal a little of the shame and discomfort that is held in from these experiences. Call it processing with humor. Swag available at
In this episode, I talk with guest Katie Sellergren about the cross-section and inter-relationship between transgender folks and neurodivergence. We discuss many topics like ADHD, transgender issues, autism, and more. (TW) We also make mention of suicide/suicidality and sexual assault. It gets deep. It gets personal. Three gangsters from the Alphabet Mafia walk into a room and.... Just kidding! I kicked it with Tamra and Heidi a couple weeks ago and this is what we talked about - queerness, politics, being out, being out at work and pride activities. My friend Tamra and I tell stories of awkward moments that are immediately connected with being queer. This episode highlights some of the challenges and experiences we have faced in our lives that we would not have had to face if we were not queer or better yet, that we would not have had to face if queerness and being part of the vast Alphabet Mafia was seen as normal or acceptable. While things are looking up with the generations that are growing up nowadays somewhere on the LGBTQAI+ spectrum, other areas of life, specifically in the US, are being challenged and Conservative powers are setting the country back 50 years. Who is to say the civil liberties that queer youth take for granted today won't also be challenged by the bigots and homophobes as they try to take us back to the 1950s. Conversations with your queer elders are important just as learning history is important so we don't allow it to be repeated. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/support
In today's episode, we discuss food and "food adjacent" experiences that shaped us as children and as adults. I am joined by Erika and Jesse and we regale you with many stories, some of which are definitely NSFW or children. In the mid to late 80s I decided I wanted to go to sleepaway camp. When my parents relented I realized my grandmother was steering the boat. The dreams of white water rafting, rock climbing, camping and other outdoor adventures faded away when I was given the choice between Weight Watchers camp in LaJolla, CA or a weight loss camp in upstate NY called Camp Shane. It's an emotionally loaded experience but it's not an altogether negative one and my guests this week helped me remember that there were fun times and heartwarming stories. There were also funny and embarrassing stories as well! Recorded between S. Florida, Northern California and Toronto, CN via Zoom. We apologize for the static and dropped signals. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/support

In this episode Kim and I tell stories of the awkward demise of relationships we have had. One from 9th grade and one from adulthood, both equally awkward! We also gab a bit about art school days and being weird. Enjoy! update: I apologize for the uneven track levels! It this episode I have Carolina Zeleski on with me as we swap tales of times our pets embarrassed us in public. Carolina tells the tale of one of her dogs reaction to a loud noise while at the mechanic shop. I discuss a really bad date and subsequent meeting of this person, and her dog, a week later. If you have a tale to tell submit it to badnewsmusepodcast at gmail or record a message for me on the That's Bad News Muse Anchor.fm page. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/support
In this episode I have a friend on with me and we discuss dating horror stories. First, my guest, Marisa, finds herself on a date which she didn't realize was a date until it was too late. That is followed by three stories - one involving climbing out a window when a dad comes home, one involving a lip sync serenade and one about a date with a bicycling vegan lawyer who was slow to get a hint. Thanks for listening! We hope you have an awkward day. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/support
The title is self-explanatory, if a little long winded. In this episode I tell two stories, one short tale of embarrassing behavior and one longer tale about an awkward February spent living with someone who left a poo for us to find in an unexpected place. All stories are experiences that I have had personally and are told as I remember them, many years later. In this inaugural episode of That's Bad News Muse I tell a story about someone I met in college, during the internet's infancy, on a unix-based chat system because that's how we rolled in the mid-90s. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/jes-muse/support
