n this special episode, Kristi Lee sits down with survivor and advocate Jessica Baker to chat about their appearance on CTV's The Social earlier this week.Jessica was violently sexually assaulted by former Hedley frontman Jacob Hoggard in 2016. He was found guilty in relation to her charge in 2022, and not guilty in relation to two other victim-complainants. In June, he was granted day parole after serving less than two years of his five-year prison sentence. In November 2025, Jessica publicly revealed her identity in the CBC documentary Breaking Idol, but she has has turned down all media appearance invitations since then.In this special episode, she reflects on why she chose to break that streak on The Social, and how it actually went on the day.Kristi also explains how The Social's thoughtful, trauma-informed approach helped both women feel prepared and supported, and reflects on another TV experience that caused her to avoid media appearances for six years. Thanks to Jessica Baker, Tiffany Hsiung, and everyone at The Social!Next:Our segment on The Social: Jacob Hoggard's Accuser and Survivor Speaks Out [YouTube]Kristi's segment on The Social from Jan 2026 [YouTube]Breaking Idol, directed by Tiffany Hsiung [YouTube - only available in Canada)Our original podcast series The Trial of Hedley's Jacob HoggardBeyond The Verdict advocacy groupKindness CircleTrauma-informed journalism: Tips for telling important stories, better and The Trauma Beat: A Case for Re-Thinking the Business of Bad News by Tamara CherryFor more information:www.canadiantruecrime.ca Hosted on Acast. In case you missed it, the Megadeth show at the Southside Oktoberfest grounds tomorrow night is moving down the street a bit & is now happening inside the La Crosse Center. Find all the info here. In the news this morning, the Minocqua Brewing Company has it's license revoked, a nationwide recall on Thyroid medication, a Costco settlement could mean money in your pocket, a tragic murder/suicide in Michigan, Myspace is apparently attempting to make a comeback, and Oscar Mayer is celebrating the 90th anniversary of the Wienermobile with a special "wiener cake". In sports, the Brewers beat the Giants last night and go for the series sweep later today, the Tony Romo arrest video has been released, Kyle Shanahan takes full responsibility for the accident he was recently involved in, Micah Parsons is starting the season on the PUP list for the Packers, and Adrian Peterson will be inducted into the Vikings Ring of Honor later this season. Talked about what's on TV & streaming today/tonight. Plus, a possible "Home Alone" sequel starring Macaulay Culkin might be in the works, David Lee Roth & Alex Van Halen are reuniting in Fargo for a TED talk, and the kids from "The Sandlot" are going to be in a new series called "Dugout Dads". Great story about a guy who beat cancer and decided to celebrate by canoeing the Missouri river with his dog, a kid in Florida is getting recognized for reading to shelter animals, and a message in a bottle is found 53 years later and returned to the family of it's original sender. It's Hump Day, so that means "One Gotta Go Wednesday"…and today's edition was food related - Burgers. Tacos. Pizza. Or fried chicken? Elsewhere in sports, the Browns re-up Denzel Ward and make him the highest paid defensive back in NFL history, Ohio State and Notre Dame make record deals for sponsorship patches on their respective uniforms, Bills fans AND some of their players absolutely hate their new "Nickel City" uniforms, and a minor league baseball player gets trucked by a mascot in a Santa suit. This isn't just a cool science headline — it could affect our satellites, our technology, and even the power grids we rely on every day. Imagine an invisible storm in space, pouring energy into our atmosphere, messing with GPS signals and communications. We're talking about a space phenomenon so big, it's like Earth's own cosmic hurricane. In this video, we'll break down what's going on, why scientists are worried, and what it means for the future of life on our planet. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
Like an idiot, I decided to work on my backyard firepit yesterday in the extreme heat. We got six of the nine circles done before calling it quits after about two hours. It was absolutely brutal…and I will never make that mistake again. Needless to say, I'm dragging ass today. Thankfully, we had a MAJOR concert announcement this morning, which helped perk me up a bit. In case you missed it, Godsmack & Dorothy are coming to the La Crosse Center on Friday, October 16th!!! Tickets go on-sale this Friday at 10am. In the news this morning, a recall on Bacon, the CEO of Cracker Barrel is stepping down after the company's disastrous attempt at rebranding, Bryan Kohberger is attempting to change his plea, Carly Simon announces that she's got Parkinson's disease In sports, the Brewers started their west coast road trip with a loss to the Giants last night, Eric Bieniemy's wife was shot by the couple's son, Jamal Adams is signing with the Vikings, Michael Lombardi is on paid administration leave from UNC, Conor McGregor is looking to fight Max Holloway again in 2027, and FIFA President Gianni Infantino has been accused of corruption. Plus, as the 25th Anniversary of 9/11 gets nearer, John Stewart & Pete Davidson announce a new comedy special to raise money for 9/11 charities. Great story from New Jersey about a cop who helped deliver a baby in a parking lot, and a dog that's been missing for five years gets reunited with it's owner. Apparently, some people are eating more iceberg lettuce & trying to get the explosive diarrhea so they'll lose weight. Elsewhere in sports, Ryan Lasko is starting to get feeling in his legs, a squirrel gets on the field and the grounds crew has a hell of a time trying to corral it, and a soccer team wins a title after 75 years of trying! In a new round of "Who'd You Rather"...$50k in cash immediately, or a coin-flip for a shot at $1 million? It's Monday, July 27th, A.D. 2026. This is The Worldview in 5 Minutes heard on 140 radio stations and at www.TheWorldview.com. I'm Adam McManus. (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Adam McManus Pakistani Supreme Court releases Muslim murderers of Christian couple The Supreme Court of Pakistan has ordered the release of the final three men on death row in the 2014 murder case of a Christian couple, Shahzad Masih and his pregnant wife, Shama, reports International Christian Concern. With this decision, along with the dismissal of a state appeal against the acquittal of 102 other suspects, no one remains convicted or in prison for the attack. Here's the back story. On November 4, 2014, in a village in the Punjab Province, a violent mob attacked Shahzad and Shama after they were accused of desecrating pages of the Quran, Islam's misguided book. The mob severely beat the couple before throwing them into a hot brick kiln, where they both died. While five men were sentenced to death and nine others received short prison sentences, they all were released back into society. Let's pray the prayer of Amos 5:24. Lord, “let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.” Wildfires in France and Spain have displaced 250,000 people France sent a hulking military cargo plane to dump tons of flame retardants as it battled raging wildfires on Saturday and slashed the final stage of the bicycle race, Tour de France, to redeploy security personnel to the blazes that forced tens of thousands of people to flee their homes, reports the Associated Press. The giant A400M transporter swooped in low, its long plume of ochre-colored retardant trailing over drought-hit woodlands on the ground that fought flames that authorities feared could spread toward the wine region city of Bordeaux in southwest France, 310 miles away from Paris. Wildfires in southern Europe last week have now displaced more than 250,000 people. Former Maine lawmaker replaces Graham Platner on Democratic ticket On Saturday, former state lawmaker and logger Troy Jackson secured the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in Maine and will face longtime GOP Senator Susan Collins in November in a race that could decide which party controls the Senate, reports The Associated Press. Jackson replaces Graham Platner, who won the Democratic primary in June, but withdrew from the race earlier this month following an allegation of sexual assault that Platner has denied. Maine Democrats met Saturday to choose a new Senate nominee to face Collins. Trump's CDC nominee commits to abortion data reporting Former Deputy Surgeon General Dr. Erica Schwartz, President Donald Trump's nominee to head the U.S. Centers for Disease Control & Prevention, testified last week that it is “absolutely critical” for the CDC to gather reliable abortion data upon which policymakers and health analysts can make decisions, reports LifeSiteNews.com. Nominated in April, Schwartz is currently appearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee for her confirmation hearings. Republican Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri raised the matter of abortion data collection and analysis which the CDC had paused in November without explanation. HAWLEY: “The CDC collects data on abortions that are committed in the United States of America through a system called the ‘Abortion Reporting System.' This system is voluntary, and so a number of states, not coincidentally large blue states, do not turn over any data so that it's difficult to get a picture of just how many abortions, and under what circumstances, are committed in this country. We do know the numbers are going up, way up. Since the Dobbs decision -- well over a million abortions last year. “Would you commit to collect the data on the number and circumstances of abortions, as is provided for in this system, and to work with those states that are currently holding out and not giving it to actually get the data so that we can know we can get a picture of what really is going on here? Will you do that? SCHWARTZ: “Senator, you have my commitment. Abortion surveillance is absolutely a critical component of what the CDC is currently doing. I will look into that.” HAWLEY: “Thank you.” SCHWARTZ: “But I also want to make sure that certain states are not conflating emergency services and hiding abortions in that emergency services case definition. We need to make sure we're pulling out true abortions and making sure that we're really having clear case definitions regarding abortions, so the data is actually accurate.” HAWLEY: “Fantastic!” Christian WNBA star attacked for opposing men in women's sports Sophie Cunningham, an eight-season WNBA veteran, got re-baptized earlier this year to reaffirm her Christian faith as an adult, reports The Christian Post. Appearing on “The Travis Hearn” podcast, she was asked about her faith. HEARN: “What's it like being a believer in Jesus Christ, a follower of Jesus, a woman of God, in the WNBA?” CUNNINGHAM: “For me, to be a believer in the W[NBA] … I think there's a lot more believers than you would actually, because a lot of people don't speak out about it. I am loud, I am confident, and I think being actually a woman of God, it's allowed me to walk into rooms with my shoulders back. I have a different type of swag and confidence about me because I know God has me.” Cunningham made headlines in 2022 when she approvingly retweeted an X post by CBS host Josh Prate opposing trans-identified male swimmer Will Thomas, who pretends to be a woman named “Lia,” being allowed on the women's team. As a result, the Left spewed hateful remarks about her on social media. Indeed, 2 Timothy 3:12 says, “All those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.” During an interview with ESPN last week, Cunningham asserted that she does not hate transgender-identifying people, but believes in standing up for young girls in their private spaces. CUNNINGHAM: “I think it's really important to protect children, and that's little girls who are also involved in that category. And so, I do have beliefs. I have morals, and I'll always stand on those and be true to who I am. And when it comes just to protecting young girls in sport and women in sport, I feel very strongly about that.” On July 23rd, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt expressed the Trump administration's solidarity with Sophie Cunningham. LEAVITT: “This is something the President feels strongly about as well, and the American people do too. Men should not be playing in women's sports. It's completely ludicrous that anyone could support that. “It's even more ludicrous that you do have Sophia Cunningham, a female athlete herself, very accomplished in her own right, coming forth and speaking that truth that men shouldn't play in women's sports. We want to protect women and girls. “The backlash she is receiving from Democrats is astonishing. They are clearly very out of touch with the American public on this issue, which is an 80/20 issue. It's common sense. It's rooted in basic biological fact that men should not be competing against women on playing fields across the country.” And ESPN commentator Stephen A. Smith affirmed Cunningham's insistence that men, pretending to be women, should not compete against biological women. SMITH: “I can't applaud her enough. This notion that you're hating on the ‘trans community' because you are not a proponent of them participating in female sports is utterly ridiculous. Sophie Cunningham said every word right on the money. There's no hate involved. There's only love we're talking about. “But what happened to loving girls who are born biologically as girls. What about their rights? What about fairness associated to them? Smith cited the story of Will Thomas, the male swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania, who is now pretending to be female as a good case in point revealing how demonstrably unfair it was to let him compete against biological women like Riley Gaines. SMITH: “'Lia Thomas.' I'm gonna keep bringing that name up: 400+ in the world competing as a male, transitions to female and he was number one. If we're gonna act like transitioning from male to female doesn't involve an advantage for that trans athlete, I have nothing to say to you. You're not exercising common sense.” Pastor Robert Jeffress' ministry surpasses 1 million YouTube subscribers Pastor Robert Jeffress' Pathway to Victory YouTube channel has surpassed 1 million subscribers, reports the Christian Post. Jeffress, who leads the 16,000-strong congregation at First Baptist Dallas, said the YouTube channel's launch was "an amazing opportunity to share the Gospel through our Bible-teaching ministry. We're grateful for the response.” Amazingly, the church only launched the channel in 2024. Pathway to Victory was launched in 1996 and serves as the broadcast ministry for First Baptist Dallas and airs on 900 radio stations across the United States. Pastor Jeffress said, "Our mission has always been to pierce the darkness with the light of God's Word, and this [1 million subscriber milestone] is a testament to the power of the Gospel to transform lives." Worldview listener in North Carolina: Your news gives me hope! Karen Heyda in Hillsborough, North Carolina wrote me and said, “Mr. McManus, I was just listening to an episode of your tremendously uplifting, edifying and encouraging newscast. I am deeply grateful to you for giving us the world news from a Biblical perspective. “That Biblical perspective gives me hope. Why? Because world news is typically BAD NEWS. It's often frightening and depressing. Yet when world news is presented from a Christian perspective, there is hope because Christ, our Redeemer, reigns and we are able to pray to Him and trust in Him Who makes all things new. “Reminding us of this truth encourages us to listen to your news program and to get on our knees and unite ourselves in prayer with and for those we've just heard about who need our prayers. Thank you for waking me up to a deeper and better way of responding to the world news today and every day.” 17 Worldview listeners gave $6,320.25 And finally, by Saturday night at 7:00pm Central, 17 Worldview listeners stepped up to the plate and invested their treasure to fund the six-member team behind The Worldview for another year. Our thanks to the McVeda Family kiddos in Great Falls, Montana who raised another $42.25 on Friday selling chocolate chip cookies and glasses of tea. This is their third donation. One lady bought 10 cookies for $20, a glass of tea for $5, and then donated an extra $10. Their initial two gifts, which totaled $347, have inspired a growing number of Worldview listeners to donate $347 or make a monthly pledge of $28.92 for a year totaling $347. And that was exactly what 10-year-old Anna McVeda had prayed – that God would somehow use their fundraiser to excite others to contribute. I am so touched by the McVeda kiddos. By the way, Fred and Cathy in Cascade, Montana, the grandparents of the McVeda Family kids, were so inspired by what their grandkids are doing that they contributed $347 themselves last Thursday. McManus is crying again! We appreciate the donations of Edward in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, Canada who gave $50, Logan and Quinn in Manzini, Eswatini, Africa $120, and Eli who is also from Eswatini, Africa and pledged $10/month for 12 months for a gift of $120. We're grateful to God for Marty in Roseburg, Oregon and an anonymous donor in Phoenix, Arizona – both of whom gave $200, Jason in Seffner, Florida who plans to continue his $25/month pledge for a gift of $300, and Bradley in Damascus, Oregon who gave $300. We were touched by the generosity of the McVeda Family-inspired donations of Frederick in Kennesaw, Georgia who pledged $28.92/month for 12 months for a gift of $347 as well as Rick in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Charlene in Wallkill, New York, and Keith in Watrous, Saskatchewan, Canada – each of whom gave $347. And we were touched by the sacrifice of Sam in Fellsmere, Florida, Brian in Dassel, Minnesota, and William in Lee's Summit, Missouri – each of whom gave $500. Plus, as I mentioned on Friday, an anonymous donor in Naples, Florida has just matched those first three gifts of $500 with another $1,500. So, if you are one of the next 9 Worldview listeners to give a one-time gift of $500, the man in Naples, Florida will match your gifts as well. And we are appreciative of Andrew in Calgary, Alberta, Canada who pledged $50/month for 12 months for a gift of $600. Those 17 gifts add up to $6,320.25. Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. (drum roll sound effect) $62,383 (sound effect of people cheering) We need to raise $61,117 by midnight on Friday, July 31! That means in order to hit our final goal of $123,500 by this Friday, July 31st, God needs to prompt folks to give an astounding $61,117 in order for the 6-member Worldview newscast team to be fully funded for another year. At this newscast, we champion the truth and use the Bible as our plumbline. So, if you have been waiting until the last minute, this … is … it! We could really use your help. The finish line is this Friday! Would you consider being one of 25 people to pledge $100/month for 12 months for a gift of $1,200, one of 26 people to pledge $50/month for 12 months for a gift of $600, or one of 52 people to pledge $25/month for 12 months for a gift of $300? Just go to TheWorldview.com, click on Give, select the dollar amount, and make sure to click on the “recurring” button if that's your wish. And remember, if you want to continue your monthly pledge to The Worldview that you started in a previous year, please let me know so we can count your generous ongoing gift toward our total. What does God want you to give? Go to TheWorldview.com and click on Give. Close And that's The Worldview on this Monday, July 27th, in the year of our Lord 2026. This heat is the WORST! I guess you could say it's going to cool off tomorrow with a high of just 87°, but I'm done with Summer. Let's get those crispy nights & chilly mornings going already. Jean's on vacation this week in Boston with her family, but I've got plenty of stuff to do this week with a big show on Friday at the Oktoberfest grounds…and a major concert announcement tomorrow morning. Speaking of this Friday's Megadeth & Obituary show at the Festgrounds, we talked to the legendary Dave Mustaine on Friday and ran that interview this morning. In the news today, a deadly shooting at a food festival in Seattle, a recall on a fabric dresser sold at Walmart, a deadly attack on a Pride celebration in Berlin, the latest on the shooting in Madison last week, and an update on the bio-hacker dude. The Brew Crew got a stellar start from the Miz yesterday and crushed the Rockies, Todd Gilliland may have won the $1 million in-season NASCAR tournament…but Corey Heim won the race yesterday, Tony Romo got popped for DUI over the weekend, and Lebron is heading to Philly to join the 76ers. Talked about what's on TV & streaming today/tonight…and recapped some of the highlights from this past weekend's Comic-Con in San Diego. Punch the Monkey just celebrated his first birthday and appears to be doing much better…and a dog that went missing over the 4th of July has been found & returned to his owners. A recent survey asked Americans if "flirting" with an A.I. program counts as cheating on your significant other…and about 1/4 of people think it does. Elsewhere in sports, the baseball HOF got some new inductees this weekend, Jacoby Brissett gets a nice contract extension, the 49ers head coach was involved in a pretty serious accident recently, John Tortarella is looking to coach again, and the NFLPA is investigating the Panthers after a player got seriously injured on the very first day of training camp! And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a #FloridaMan who broke into a neighbor's house and made himself a margarita, a #FloridaWoman who stabbed her friend with a pair of scissors, a guy who got stuck inside of a gas station sign for several hours, a couple of guys who parachuted off the space needle in Seattle, and a woman on a Carnival cruise ship that was scratching her feet with a fork.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In this episode of Money Matters, brought to you by Greenberg Financial Group in Tucson, Dean opens the show with three straight down weeks behind us and a market that has decided every headline is bad news. Google reported negative free cash flow for the first time in company history, investors headed for the exits, and the hyperscalers took it on the chin for spending money on the one thing everybody agrees is the future. We get into why capital expenditure became the fear trade, what $794 billion in projected 2026 spending across Amazon, Alphabet, Microsoft, Meta and SpaceX is actually telling us, and why not one CEO in the industry is calling a top. Dean spends his monologue on volatility and self-knowledge, which is really the same conversation. Memory chips, Intel's foundry buildout in Phoenix, the hyperscalers that keep getting punished for building, and the question every investor has to answer honestly before choosing a portfolio. Where is your stomach on this. He also walks through how ETFs can give you exposure to a volatile group with a smoother ride, and why diversification and risk tolerance still do more work than any single call. From there Dave, Todd, Dylan and Sebastian dig into a week where good news kept getting read backwards. Oracle hit a 52 week low right after signing a ten year, $8 billion Department of Defense contract. Intel posted its biggest revenue jump in 15 years and closed lower anyway. Meanwhile the quiet story of the year keeps going, with the equal weighted S&P 500 running ahead of the headline indexes while everyone watches the chips. We also look at what railroads and shippers like CSX are saying about the real economy, and why a 55 year low in unemployment claims is doing more to hold up interest rates than anything else. The back half is all planning. Hailey Glick joins us to walk through the deductions showing up on 2025 returns under the One Big Beautiful Bill, including no tax on tips up to $25,000, the overtime rules almost everyone gets wrong, the enhanced senior deduction for filers over 65, and the new car loan interest deduction that landed on its own Schedule 1A. Most of these phase out by income and most of them expire after 2028, which is exactly why we spend the rest of the segment on Roth conversions. We share a real client story about an 85 year old living in Belgium where the conversion math came down to two countries' current tax rates rather than a guess about future policy, because guessing is not a strategy. We also open up Trump accounts and what compounding actually looks like for a newborn, including the $1,000 government seed for children born 2025 through 2028, why any child under 18 can have one, and the Roth conversion opportunity waiting at age 18. Plus a Tucson fun fact about a street that is not a street and not an avenue either. Our next free interactive financial planning seminar is Friday, August 21st at La Paloma Country Club. Even as Britain welcomed a new Prime Minister this week, renewed conflict in the Middle East threatened to remove what little breathing space he may have had, pushing up everything from oil to food prices. This week, John Stepek is joined by Bloomberg macro strategist Simon White to discuss why inflation matters so much for asset prices, what it might mean for the increasingly indebted AI companies, and what it all means for your money. Here comes the heat again. Not bad today with a high around 80°…but reaching the upper 80's tomorrow and into the 90's by Sunday & Monday. Uffdah. Today is Jean's last day on the show for awhile as she & the family are headed to Boston & Cape Cod for a summer vacation. Speaking of Summer…a bunch of people like to into Halloween-mode the day after the 4th of July. And if you're one of them, we talked about some horror movies that are set during the Summer months that you might want to watch. In the news this morning, Powerball is now available in the US and the UK, a recall on toaster ovens, a bear got stuck on a utility pole, Vance Boelter is sentenced, a verdict in the Shiloh Hendrix case, and the latest on the deadly officer-involved shooting in Madison. In sports, the Brewers start a 3-game series with the Rockies tonight, the Dodgers visited the White House yesterday to celebrate their World Series win last season, Fernando Mendoza signs his rookie contract with the Raiders, the Ravens already released Diego Pavia, and Patrick Kane is coming back to Chicago! We let you know what's on TV & streaming this weekend and what's new in theaters. Plus, some new music you may want to pick up. Also talked about a new series being produced by Peyton Manning called "NASCAR: Americana" Earlier this week, we had a story about USPS worker in #Florida who was picking up random animals while delivering mail and bringing them back to her house…and now a bunch of those animals are being reunited with their rightful owners. Also, a teenager with some serious lasso skills just recently saved a person who was drowning in the Yellowstone River. And speaking of helping people…who better than Spider Man to come to someone's rescue??? We had a new "Karen of the Day" who really doesn't like people using his driveway to turn around in. Elsewhere in sports, the Cubs aren't seeking any punishment for the fan involved in that viral slapping incident last weekend, the Norweigan Football Federation is lodging a formal complaint with FIFA in regards to President Trump's World Cup involvement, and a fan who jumped into a fountain in Kansas City to grab a home run ball gets an assist from the player who hit the dinger. Doc joined us just after 8am for today's Racing Report thanks to County Materials in Holmen & Eau Claire. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a Sinclair gas station dinosaur that was recently stolen & moved to a more scenic location, a #FloridaMan who received over a kilo of cocaine in the mail, a woman in Tennessee who got arrested after she exposed herself during a traffic stop, a fight between a swimmer & a kite surfer that almost turned deadly, a search of a funeral home found a bucket filled with organs, a dead body was discovered in a donation box, and a former doctor in Washington state who hired a hitman to get his ex-wife addicted to heroin.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
How is it possible that one human being can be a gifted artist, a world-class savvy collector, a stellar actor, skilled director, and a masterful storyteller, whilst being gracious, funny, self-possessed, and humble at the same time? If that's not the work of the gods, what is? The quality of Federico's conversation defied Mercury Retrograde and the moon void. His screen may have been wonky for a few moments, but his glorious remembrances flowed on. From his earliest years in Napoli surrounded by his talented siblings, Federico knew at 3 what he wanted to do. And it wasn't aspiring to be a key player on one of the greatest shows to ever hit television screens. That was an afterthought. A later manifestation. Earning a full scholarship and his BFA from the School of Visual Arts in NY, Federico never had a day job or a Plan B. He's had more than a few Plan As - all successfully and respectfully executed. We got a little show and tell with a great George Burns story, how he segued from commercial art to commercial film and television, auditioning for a role he'd never get that eventually led to the life-changer. We got the whole Sopranos audition story complete with a David Chase rarity, prior long-held James Gandolfini admiration, how he landed it, the classes and work in theatre that schooled him, all the while continuing with his art craft to mind-blowing proportions. More show and tell with his latest portrait, of frequent collaborator Chazz Palminteri, that I would've sworn was a photograph until it was almost pressed against Federico's screen. The lips, the smile, the hair, the eyes, the ‘tude, captured as only a rarely gifted artist could. We talked Federico's multitude of upcoming films in various stages of production… Bad News on The Doorstep with the aforementioned Palminteri, which will be the first to drop, Into The Black with beloved Cathy Moriarity and Peter Green, Lupo, a true-crime story, and Three's Company Too, where Federico is directing as well as starring. There's a gallery show of his portraits in the works and Sopranos appearances, which you can keep up with on his IG.
Holy crap are we loaded with stuff this morning! In the news, a recall on a popular fruit puree, the results of an independent autopsy on Nolan Wells, a deadly shooting in Madison, a garbage truck in Milwaukee explodes, William Shatner and his daughter reveal their recent battles with cancer, the wreckage of a Pan Am plane is located 74 years after it crashed, and wild video of a leopard attacking a shop owner in India! In sports, the Brewers beat the Mets last night for another series win, the Red Sox finally lost after winning 15 in a row, the Packers start training camp next week, Caitlin Clark gets another tech & is one away from a one-game suspension, the cover athletes for NBA2K are announced, and the Angels fired a scout for illegally taping other teams. We talked about what's on TV & streaming today/tonight. Plus, Elon Musk is apparently making his own version of "The Odyssey" that will allegedly be more historically accurate than the Christopher Nolan version that's currently in theaters. Conan O'Brien explains what happened to his hair after recent pics of him went viral, a sequel to "Days of Thunder" is in the works, and the Ghostface from the "Scary Movie" franchise launches an OnlyFans account. Great story about a teen driver who trusted his gut & checked on a car in a ditch…which led to him possibly saving a woman's life! As we always do on Thursday mornings, we asked each other Hypothetical questions…and Brian's question for Jean was: "If you could only listen to music with one form of media for the rest of your life, what would it be? Tapes/Records/CDs/MP3s" While Jean's question for Brian was: " " Elsewhere in sports, Sophie Cunningham clarifies her statements on trans athletes, Charlie Woods gets interrupted in his backswing, the latest on the Cubs fan who slapped another fan when they refused to stand for the National anthem, an American cyclist gets brake-checked by a car before a stage at the Tour de France, and an update on the Puka Nacua bite allegations. Office Cora joined us just after 8am to talk about what she's up to this weekend in the 715 and to recap her time at Rock Fest last weekend. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a family in Alaska that were cleaning out a dead relatives house & found human remains in a freezer, an alligator that was blocking a family's front door, a roller coaster in Ecuador that tossed a passenger, a guy who got arrested for stealing a bunch of vodka & Bacon, a Great White shark that was swimming extremely close to some kids in the ocean, and a bear that hilarious got trapped in an SUV and wouldn't stop honking the horn.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Learn more and apply for the November 2026 cohort of my Japan Leadership Experience: https://kbjanderson.com/japantrip/How many problems are actually visible in your organization?Research shows senior leaders see just 4%. The other 96% stay hidden — invisible, yet still there. And some aren't even recognized by employees as problems anymore, because they have become the norm.We all say we want psychological safety. But you don't get it by saying you want it. People-centered leadership is about creating conditions for people to speak up and highlight issues by how you, and leaders across your system, respond.Recorded live with a group of global leaders participating in my Japan Leadership Experience in May 2026, this special episode celebrates the sixth anniversary of Learning to Lead, Leading to Learn. You'll hear Isao Yoshino, a 40-year Toyota leader and the subject of my book, reflect on three of the book's most talked-about stories. These examples bring two of Toyota's mottos to life, "bad news first" and "no problem is a problem," and show why a leader's response is what turns problems into a culture of improvement:How his manager's response to a huge paint-shop mistake in his first months at Toyota shaped how he saw a leader's roleHow andon — signaling a problem and stopping the line — changed the culture at NUMMIHow he found the courage to highlight his failing water ski boat business to President Fujio ChoWhether on the front line or in the boardroom, creating the conditions where bad news comes first, and support follows, is what builds a culture of excellence. You'll Learn:Why a leader's response to a mistake is fundamental to effective leadership and matters more than the mistake itselfThe two actions behind a bad-news-first culture: respond down to help, not blame, and signal up when something's off courseWhy andon is a leadership practice, not just a factory signal, that works from the shop floor to the executive suiteWhat the NUMMI turnaround shows about culture change: people adopt a better way when they discover it, not when they're toldWhy "thank you for this mistake" is the keystone move for building psychological safetyABOUT MY GUEST:Isao Yoshino spent forty years at Toyota, from the late 1960s to the early 2000s, where he helped shape the people-centered learning culture the company is known for today. He was a key leader in the Kan-Pro senior-management development program and led the training of the American managers at NUMMI, the Toyota-GM joint venture, where he hired John Shook. It's Hump Day and the weather is going to be absolutely delightful! Sunny & 74° today with the heat returning this weekend. So get out & enjoy it! In the news this morning, a recall on garlic powder sold nationwide, actress Kaylee Hottle died in a car crash in Maryland, a woman in Oklahoma is found guilty of failing to protect her daughter, more idiots in Yellowstone, and a cargo plane had a very rough landing in Cincinnati. In sports, the Brewers lost to the Mets last night, the Dolphins sign an extension with Jordyn Brooks, the Miami Heat "accidentally" posted a link to a Lebron James introductory press conference, the World Cup final between Argentina & Spain had a ton of viewers, Giants head coach John Harbaugh reacts to the viral Cam Skattebo video from Fanatics Fest, ESPN announces a bunch of layoffs, and Aaron Rodgers is apparently trying to rebuild his relationship with his family. We talked about what's on TV & streaming today/tonight. And apparently, people are refusing to leave their seats at concerts to use the restrooms. Great story about a very large senior dog that got too tired on a walk with it's owner and had to be rescued by some firefighters. And a young girl diagnosed with a rare disease got a bone marrow donation from her very brave sister. It's One Gotta Go Wednesday, and today's choices were popular Summer activities - A day at the pool/beach. A day on the river/lake. A fire pit in the backyard. Or some time at a cabin up north. Elsewhere in sports, the WNBA isn't allowing any of it's partners to profit off the viral Sophie Cunningham "pointing" video/meme, another possible location for a new stadium for Da Bears, an update on the guy who smacked another fan in the back of the head at a recent Cubs/Twins game, and Jordan Kuroda-Grauer suffers an extremely unfortunate injury. A couple of recent Reddit threads asked people to list guy & girl "flexes" that makes someone instantly attractive. We checked in to see if we're on the attractive side of things. The MN State Fair is coming up next month and the new foods & drinks are starting to get released, so we took a look at what you can expect if you're going to the Sweat Together. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a refrigerator for human beings, a woman who sold a guy's tarantula collection while he was in jail, a #FloridaWoman who was arrested after locking her dogs in a storage locker, another #FloridaWoman who was apparently collecting stray cats while delivering mail & hoarding them in deplorable conditions, and a dude dressed as a mime got busted for being creepy & weird.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

We're getting the gang back together! After a week at Rock Fest, Brian came back to an empty studio because Jean went to see AC/DC on Sunday. But this morning, we're both back in the studio and Grant Bilse of the Wisco Sports Show joined us on the phone just after 8am. In the news this morning, the latest on the lettuce recall, people are in love with Jimothy the raccoon, an epic meltdown in #Florida, the White House teleprompter guy was apparently betting on Trump's speeches, and Jean recapped her trip to Madison to see AC/DC. In sports, the Brewers kept the train rollin' with a win over the Mets last night, the Packers signed an extension with Devonte Wyatt, the Michigan AD is stepping down, the latest on the death of Hannah Rapp, and the financial situation with LIV golf is getting worse. We talked about what's on TV & streaming today/tonight and we discussed the new "Avengers: Doomsday" trailer that dropped yesterday. Plus, Kelly Clarkson apparently thought she caught the explosive diarrhea…and Jerry Seinfeld was getting paid a ridiculous amount of money while filming "Seinfeld". Cool story about a 73 year-old guy who spends his time volunteering as a NICU baby cuddler, and a woman who bought a "soulmate drawing" off Etsy is now engaged to a guy that looks exactly like the drawing. Are you packing your cooler properly? Elsewhere in sports, FIFA is investigating the scrum after the World Cup championship game between Argentina and Spain, the WTA is going to start testing for gender, Josh Kerr breaks the 1-mile record, Bryson Dechambeau tried to call President Trump to help him with a penalty at the Open Championship, and people are arguing online about the viral video of a fan getting slapped by another fan after not standing for the National Anthem. We also had to talk about what's going on with Tom Brady. And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who was naked & "surfing" on top of a moving train, a #Florida police chief who resigned after he was accused of having sex with the wife of a guy he was investigating, a #FloridaWoman who was three times over the legal limit when she crashed into a construction site, and diarrhea on a splash pad!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

I love Rock Fest. I miss being there. I had such a great time. But man, am I glad to be home and poop in my own toilet, shower in my own shower, and sleep in my own bed. Jean's out this morning as she went to AC/DC last night in Madison. So, I ran a couple of the interviews we recorded while in the radio booth at Rock Fest including my conversations with the Autumn Kings, Kami Kehoe, and Story of the Year! In the news this morning, the explosive diarrhea has been traced back to some lettuce, the WI DNR extends their air quality advisory until noon today, David Crowley is back in the race for Governor of WI after getting an endorsement from Tony Evers, a man drowned in the Chippewa River after fleeing from police, and a start-up company is taking orders on survival pods! In sports, the Brewers restart the regular season with a sweep of the Marlins, Spain beats Argentina to claim the World Cup title and they got PAID by FIFA…which might be why they're trying to sell all that grass from the field in New Jersey(which isn't going over too well in the Garden State). Let you know what's on TV & streaming today/tonight and talked about the most-watched series on Netflix from the last four years. Plus, is Darius Rucker calling it a career? Today happens to be the anniversary of the release of the original "Neverending Story" movie…which lines up nicely with this story about a pony that almost suffered the same fate at Artax, but was rescued by a fire department in PA. And speaking of nice saves, check out this guy who used his own vehicle to stop a runaway vehicle in Washington. Elsewhere in the world of sports, Joey Logano gets his first win of the NASCAR season, Connor Bedard gets a contract extension, Cam Skattebo scares Giants fans by trying to do a flip at FanFest, Saquon Barkley's house gets robbed, Conor McGregor talks about the injuries he sustained during his last fight, and apparently…Madison Square Garden keeps a list of artists that may be difficult to deal with. In today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy in Texas who just got his 12th OWI, a #FloridaMan who tried switching seats with his passenger after getting pulled over, a guy who fell into the tank of a porta potty and had to be cut out by a fire department, a woman who got busted with drugs hidden all over & in her body, a woman who was driving around naked with a bunch of drugs & guns in her car.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In Asia she was asked, "Is there a difference in what your GOD believes about the STATUS OF WOMEN and what the CHRISTIANS practice?" Good News? There were many conversions in Central Asia after EVANGELISM became possible 30 years ago. Bad News? Sadly, the new believers were taught a HIERARCHICAL message as well. Dr. Leslie and Dr. Chad Segraves are bringing a NEW WAVE OF GOOD NEWS of unity in the Body of Christ. Their focus is on countries in the 10/40 window. These two missiologists co-founded and co-direct the 10/40 Connections Ministry. Their website is https://www.1040connections.org/ The Tru316 Foundation (www.Tru316.com) is the home of The Eden Podcast with Bruce C. E. Fleming where we “true” the verse of Genesis 3:16. The Tru316 Message is that “God didn't curse Eve (or Adam) or limit woman in any way.” Once Genesis 3:16 is made clear the other passages on women and men become clear too. For Proper 11, this message invites us to trust that even amid shadow and sorrow, the final word is resurrection.

Already this summer, there have been huge wildfires in the Southwest and Great Plains and an extraordinary heat wave in Europe, as the world stares down the barrel of a powerful El Niño. Climate change is accelerating, and yet climate politics right now is in disarray. But something else is happening, too. Advances in clean energy technology mean it is now possible to build a world of energy abundance that was the stuff of dreams just a few years ago. That means a new kind of climate politics is possible — one that doesn't just talk about sacrifice and disaster prevention but also can present decarbonization as a path to somewhere better, where everyone has more, not less. Bill McKibben is one of the best people at articulating that vision. He's a founder of the climate action groups 350.org and Third Act, and he's been at the vanguard of the climate movement for decades. His 1989 book, “The End of Nature,” is considered the first book on global warming written for a general audience. His latest book, published last year, is “Here Comes the Sun: A Last Chance for the Climate and a Fresh Chance for Civilization.” Mentioned: “Global Electricity Review 2026” by Ember The End of Nature by Bill McKibben “The New Right's Very Old Vision of Men,” The Ezra Klein Show with Helen Lewis “We're All Living in the ‘Mirror World' Now,” The Ezra Klein Show with Naomi Klein Book Recommendations: The Glorians by Terry Tempest Williams The Beginning Comes After the End by Rebecca Solnit The Carbon Wave by Leah C.
