Bad news is everywhere.Turn on the TV, scroll your phone, or simply walk through your own life and it can feel like the weight of the world is pressing in. Sometimes the headlines are overwhelming, and sometimes the hardest news is the kind that happens quietly inside our own homes. The truth is, we were never created to carry the constant flood of information, fear, and heartbreak that surrounds us every day.But even in the middle of it all, there is still good news. Not the kind that depends on circumstances changing or everything suddenly working out the way we hoped. The kind of good news that never changes.Jesus.In this episode, we talk honestly about how heavy the world can feel and why the message of Jesus is still the greatest news we will ever hear. When everything around us feels uncertain, God is still working, still present, and still making a way.If you've been feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world, or by the struggles in your own life, this conversation is an encouragement for you.Because no matter what is happening…there is always good news when Jesus is the center of the story.Song: Lofi Chill Hip Hop Beat - SpringVibes (youngfrenchy808)We would like to pray for you. After a few days of being here & not being here…we're both back this morning to get you over the hump on Workforce Wednesday with some freebies from GameDay Men's Health! Brian was in the Twin Cities on Monday night and recapped his experience at the Bad Omens/Beartooth/President show. In the news this morning, the legendary Bruce Campbell has cancer, Washington State is apparently pre-banning "forced employee microchips", a new trend at bars & restaurants is bone-broth cocktails, and the fast-food burger wars heats up again with the CEOs of Burger King & McDonald's taste-testing their new offerings. In sports, the Bucks & Badgers play tonight, an update on AJ Allmendinger, and Jurickson Profar gets ANOTHER suspension. Elsewhere in sports, the Atlanta Falcons are going to play in Madrid next season, the Pittsburgh women's basketball coach gets canned, a new LED court makes it's debut in the Big 12, and an NBA player disagrees with the upcoming "Magic City Monday" promotion. Because we were both off yesterday, we decided to get Grant Bilse of the Wisco Sports Show on the phone this morning! We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and also talked about what's new on DVD this week. Plus, a celebrity version of "Squid Game" is apparently coming to Netflix. Today is "National Grammar Day" and it's also "Discover What Your Name Means Day"…so we looked that up. Got an update on Punch the monkey, and a heart-warming story about a guy who's battling cancer that recently got a very nice surprise. According to a new survey, the average woman spends $1,600 every year on "wellness", so we tried to figure out if Jean spent the same amount(she didn't) And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a guy who got a DUI while taking his driving test, a brawl in the drive-thru of a Wendy's, a dude who allegedly had a brain hemorrhage after playing video games for 4 days & three nights, and a serial donut shop robber in California.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Chuck Todd breaks down the Texas primary results and finds a political landscape that should terrify the Republican establishment. Ken Paxton and John Cornyn are headed to a runoff on the GOP side, but the headline number is stunning: Democrats posted a higher overall vote total than Republicans in the Texas primary, a seismic signal in what has long been the country's biggest red state. He credits Talarico's viral Colbert moment with giving him a massive boost, notes that Latino voters broke decisively for Talarico over Jasmine Crockett — who ran an unconventional campaign and is unlikely to concede quickly — and argues that a Paxton vs. Talarico general election would genuinely put Texas in play. He walks through the strategic calculus: history favors Paxton in a runoff, Cornyn has outperformed polling but a Cornyn nomination would draw less national Democratic investment in the race, and Democrats should have the budget to compete in Texas regardless — because Texas is "nice to have" for Democrats but "must have" for Republicans, and if Democrats win even once there, it opens the floodgates. He also flags Dan Crenshaw losing after failing to secure Trump's endorsement, the razor-thin two-vote margin for the state senate campaign in North Carolina, and a broader pattern of bad developments piling up for the GOP — capped by Trump stoking voter skepticism with an unpopular Iran war. His verdict: this is the worst possible start to an election cycle for Republicans, because it's easy to start a war and very hard to end one. Then, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Josh Seftel joins the Chuck Toddcast to discuss All the Empty Rooms, his devastating Netflix documentary short that chronicles the untouched bedrooms of children killed in school shootings since Sandy Hook. Seftel describes a country that has grown numb to over 100 school shootings just this year — where the reporting cycle moves on before victims' stories can truly be told — and explains how the simple, visceral act of standing in a dead child's bedroom forces viewers to feel something that statistics never could. He reveals that many parents have kept these rooms exactly as their children left them, preserving even the smell, creating what amounts to sacred spaces frozen in time.Chuck draws the parallel to the decision to show Emmett Till's open casket, and Seftel argues these painful stories must be told regardless of how uncomfortable they make us, because imagery can be more powerful than the spoken word. What makes the film's approach so striking — and so strategically effective — is what it leaves out. The word "gun" is never mentioned, a deliberate choice to avoid triggering the political reflexes that shut down conversation before it starts. And it's working: Seftel shares that a Second Amendment enthusiast changed his mind after seeing the photos of empty rooms, and even a Sandy Hook denier reached out after watching. The film's funders didn't want to make money — they wanted to make change — and Netflix's global distribution has given it a massive reach. Seftel says the conversation has to start with one simple question — "How do we keep kids safe at school?" — and that the film intentionally got better as it got shorter, stripping away prescription and polemic to let the silence of those rooms do the work. Finally, Chuck lists his ToddCast Top 5 All-Time Texas statewide elections and answers listeners’ questions in the “Ask Chuck” segment. Send a textA baby macaque clutching an orange plush shouldn't teach us this much about biology, but Punch does. His quiet hold on a stuffed orangutan opens a door into attachment science, stress, and how primate societies enforce rules we often mistake for cruelty. We walk through why zookeepers reached for a surrogate object, how tactile comfort supports motor development and emotional regulation, and what happens when a first-time mother and a heat wave collide with the unforgiving math of survival. Along the way, we examine the “bullying” clips through a scientific lens—dominance, submission cues, and the essential role of maternal coaching—while celebrating glimmers of recovery as grooming and real hugs begin to replace the plush. Then we shift from the enclosure to our living rooms. Flat-faced dogs remain wildly popular, but a new UK study across 14 brachycephalic breeds quantifies the toll: widespread BOAS, exercise intolerance, snorting, sleep disruption, and heat sensitivity tied to extreme skull shapes. We break down the grading scale, the stark numbers for pugs and Pekingese, and the three big drivers of risk—short muzzles, narrow nostrils, and excess fat around the airway. Not all breeds scored the same, and that's the hopeful part: careful selection can nudge beloved lines toward open airways and stronger health without abandoning them.Across both stories runs a single thread: love is better when it listens to evidence. From managing crowds around Punch to resisting the exotic pet impulse, from breeding away from extremes to helping current dogs breathe easier with weight control and heat care, small choices add up to real welfare gains. When you fear the Lord through reverent obedience, walk in generosity rather than greed, and let your heart be truly secure in Him, bad news loses its power over you. Freedom starts with receiving truth we don't want to hear, but on the other side is healing, restoration, and joy.You don't have to live in constant dread. God wants to set you free.

Truck wash day! Gonna be almost 50° today with some colder temps & snow on the way tomorrow. So gotta get that truck in the car wash. Heading into the weekend, we talked about what's on TV for the next few days and what's new in theaters along with a few new music releases. Doc had to pre-record today's racing report thanks to County Materials in Holmen and Eau Claire! We also highlighted some things to look forward to in the month of March, including some movies & TV shows, sporting events, and some of the holidays! Speaking of sports, the Bucks play tonight, the Badgers are in Washington tomorrow afternoon, the US Women's Hockey team is going to be partying in Las Vegas with Flavor Flav…while the US Men's Hockey team had their bar tab taken care of by Pat McAfee! A burger battle is heating up between McDonald's & Burger King…as Mickey-D's is introducing the "Big Arch Burger" and BK is apparently revamping it's Whopper. Crisis Leadership: Why Bad News Can't Wait

Episode Summary In this episode, Gary Pinkerton reflects on a recent interview conducted for a PhD thesis on crisis leadership — and shares the real-world lessons he learned leading through high-stakes environments in the military, business, and investing. Gary explains why true crises are often preventable through preparation, liquidity, and resilient financial structures. Drawing from submarine operations, real estate investing, and leadership experience, he breaks down how effective leaders manage uncertainty, control emotional reactions, and make clear decisions when information is incomplete. At the center of the conversation is one powerful principle: Bad news never gets better with time. Listeners will learn how early communication, structured thinking, and trained decision-making processes can transform chaos into manageable action — whether in business, investing, or personal life. This episode delivers practical frameworks for crisis response, leadership development, and building organizations that function effectively even when leaders are absent. This very bad news characterises human history. But like a diamond placed on a dark background, this very bad news reveals why Paul is not ashamed of the very good news of the gospel.

In This Episode Erin and Weer'd discuss: the US Virgin Islands defending their gun prohibition in a very... special... way; the US Attorney for the District of Columbia is fighting for, and allegedly against, gun control laws in the District; Canada's "voluntary gun buy back", where the buying back is voluntary but the disposal isn't; the passage of an assault weapons ban in the Virginia House of Representatives, with a Senate bill close behind; and an attempted robbery or kidnapping on a Chilean highway shows why you always need to remember that you are in a car! Xander gives us his Independent Thoughts on holster selection; and Weer'd welcomes back James Fodor of The Science of Everything Podcast to talk about the culture shock of moving from Australia to America.
