The PBS Blog Podcast Ep 18 - Love Is Reciprocal

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 17, 2018 10:55

I talk a lot about self-love and the importance of learning to love yourself but do not misunderstand me: love is reciprocal. Just as you give love you should also receive love. Love should always come back to you and if it doesn't something is wrong. Understand that loving yourself is the foundation. It sets the stage for how you will allow yourself to be treated but it is not the end. Once you are capable of fully and unapologetically loving yourself you have a responsibility to give love and you have a right to receive love. Remember, what's in the cup is yours but the overflow is for others. p.s. My Soundcloud limit is up and I have now upgraded to a pro account. But if at any time that does not fit in with my budget I cannot be sure I will continue with this series so enjoy this while you can! I have much more urgent financial responsibilities so I will cut this off if I need to. But, know that you can always find the episodes on this page or on the podcast page of the blog.

Humility is an important part of leadership. That ever-present feeling of needing to do better, to be better, to try harder. To be firm, to speak up for yourself and to establish boundaries but to also believe there is always room for improvement. To look down on others only when we are lifting them up. To accept that we don't know everything, to be courageous enough to admit our wrongs, and to constantly push ourselves to rise to the next level.

There is a popular saying “the sky is the limit.” It is used to display the belief that you can go high, as far up as the sky. I disagree with this saying because the sky is not the limit. There are elements beyond even the sky. You can stop at the sky or you can go above and beyond it. I want to use this as an example in today's podcast for the potential for us to do great things without being limited. The sky is not the limit. You are. Be mindful of how you make people feel. Whenever sharing negative experiences be sure there is a lesson to be learned or something to be taught from it. Make sure there is something that you can give back as a result of having shared it. Remember that energy you feed gets stronger. If you feed vengeance, complaints, hatred, and strife, these emotions will get stronger and you will unknowingly begin to project these feelings on others and the feelings you don't feed like love, compassion, forgiveness, and encouragement get choked out. The PBS Blog Podcast Ep 12 - Don't Ignore Your Internal GPS System

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 14, 2018 8:14

Your internal GPS System is your discernment. In other words, the vibes that you are picking up. Discernment is your ability to judge well. Your perception of something in an attempt to better understand something on a deeper level. Being able to comprehend the deeper part of something. I believe we all have a certain level of discernment and that it is something that we've always had with us. This discernment is that internal GPS system that directs us. Sometimes you walk into a room and your insides start to twist and turn and flip-flop and your nerves start to go off. Or, sometimes you are around certain people and your energy just drains, your spirits get low and you get down. Your internal GPS is telling you something about that place and about those people and warning signs are going off in your body. Stop ignoring this. Pay attention to yourself and what the universe is trying to tell you. Today's episode is about being patient and gentle with yourself. We already spoke about responsibility and discipline. If you set a goal and you didn't meet that goal, don't beat yourself over the head. We need time to grow physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and professionally in whatever we are doing. This is a process. It even takes time to heal. Give yourself that time. Don't verbally abuse yourself and talk down to yourself. There are plenty of people in the world who will do that for you. Spare yourself the added abuse by being gentle with yourself. Inspired by Nicole Walter's periscope video, today's podcast is about being excited about your accomplishments big OR SMALL. Whatever it is that may seem, in the grand scheme of things, less significant, celebrate it anyway. We tend to downplay a lot of good in our lives because of other's expectations or perceptions (people thinking we're doing something bad or wrong) when we should be rejoicing in everything good that we achieve no matter what. Notice all growth because it's all part of the process. Keep being excellent!
