Vanessa is joined by her sisters in another episode where they discuss the sneaking out hijinks they all got up to in a family of 12 kids as well as how they deal with their own families' stories of teens sneaking around. They wrestle with the big question: how do you trust your kids and let them have their own freedom while also protecting and doing your duty as a parent when it comes to curfews, bedtime, and rules of the home? Vanessa's sister Shelly also shares about an upcoming product she and her husband are working on called Analog that helps protect families from the dangers of sneaking around online. She provides a checklist to watch out for: Set a baseline Check and recheck the parental controls because they do reset Don't let kids delete or install apps without permission Limit screen time on apps Also watch out for: Kids changing the timezones Redownloading apps Using VPNs Using Siri to get around certain parental controls Friends' phones
Offering extensions can transform your average ticket, attract premium clients, and position you as an expert. In this episode I break down how to use "scholarship" (free-labor) installs to sprint your social proof, fill your portfolio, and raise prices with confidence, without giving away the store. You'll get scripts, a 7-day action plan, and the math to make it smart. Get FREE access to our profit making webinar: https://small-kiwi-98108.myflodesk.com/ao7u0l0qzq Get 20% off your first order & subscribe to Rooted Hair for ongoing deals & education: https://rootedhair.ca/ Key Take-aways: 1. Free or low-cost installs are not "giving away time" — they're a strategic investment that builds your portfolio, confidence, and social proof. 2. Choose models intentionally; their hair, vibe, and reliability should match your dream client. 3. Always do an in-person consultation to assess density, texture, lifestyle, and realistic expectations. 4. Use model installs to capture strong content: videos, transformations, reactions, and movement shots. 5. Set clear expectations — free installs do not include free maintenance. 6. Outline deliverables for your model such as tags, testimonials, or specific content requirements. 7. Recommend the extension method that fits the client's hair and lifestyle, not just what you want to showcase. 8. Present your offer as a structured model call, not a giveaway. 9. Use the model period for testing, check-ins, and refining your technique and systems. 10. Limit freebies to maintain value and avoid attracting bargain-hunters. 11. Avoid models needing heavy color correction — it adds unpaid hours and unpredictable results. 12. Use team members as in-salon models to build credibility and visibility. 13. Start with a small beta group to gather feedback, testimonials, and repeat business. 14. Track long-term earnings — even a handful of models can generate thousands in yearly maintenance revenue. 15. Practice before launching publicly; confidence grows through private reps and real clients. 16. Streamline your technique — clients value efficient installs just as much as luxury experiences. 17. Avoid selecting models strictly through DMs; refusals to consult in person are red flags. 18. Remember: free installs are an intentional investment that fuel your launch, proof, and profitability. On this episode of the podcast, NetChoice's Director of Policy Patrick Hedger details why they launched a new lawsuit against the State of Virginia for passing a new law that would require minors younger than 16 years of age to undergo age-verification, receive parental consent, and be limited to just one hour per day of use on social media platforms. Hedger argues that this regulation represents a direct assault on free speech and privacy, comparing it to forcing you to read a book only one hour at a time or verifying your identity just to watch a documentary. Hedger contrasts Virginia's approach with similar efforts, such as Texas' SB814 which targeted minors' access to pornographic content, and highlights a worrying trend of regulatory models being adopted from abroad, including the UK's Online Safety Act and the proposed Kids Online Safety Act in Congress. Whether you've been speaking professionally for years and years or are looking to just start your public speaking journey, applying just these 30 tips I cover here will instantly and easily make you improve as a speaker. Getting the audience to remember much from a presentation (especially a really long presentation) is incredibly hard. Giving audiences a huge list of points to remember and hone in on is even more-so fighting a losing battle. Limiting yourself to 5 or fewer points ensures that people can reliably remember everything, aren't overwhelmed, and each point has a proper amount of substance to it. Sure, we've reviewed the fastest World Tour aero road bikes and the newest gravel machines, but what about an off-road capable folding bike? Variety is the spice of life, and Velo tech editor Alvin Holbrook has been getting spicy on Brompton's G Line, a bike that should be more capable than any of the legendary UK brand's previous offerings, thanks to larger wheels and much better tires and brakes. Alvin rode the G Line on his usual gravel test loop and reports back on how it performed and what type of rider it makes the most sense for. Would you wear AI on your face? Josh Ross has been in the shape of Oakley's new – and very expensive – Vanguard glasses that come with a video camera, mic and headphones, and a connection to artificial intelligence that's ready to answer *almost* any question you might have. Josh answers our questions, without any AI help, about what the Vanguards are like to live with, why they might have the best mic and headphones for cycling, and explains how they can actually cost less than buying separate glasses, headphones, and a camera. Levy has that new bike fizz after buying an Allied Able and shares some of his early ride impressions, as well as how it compares to his much-loved Santa Cruz Stigmata that he's lived on for the previous two years. This episode is brought to you by Villa Carina Apartments in beautiful Bonaire. In this episode, we sit down with Björn Dunkerbeck, the 56-year-old windsurfing legend with 42 PWA World Titles (more than any athlete in any sport), 32+ years with Red Bull, and a personal best of 103.68 km/h over 500 m. Fresh off double-hip surgery and pain-free for the first time in years, Björn joins Luc from Lüderitz, Namibia, where he's chasing the outright windsurf speed world record during the month-long November window at the infamous Lüderitz Speed Channel. From the early days of 16-knot records in Weymouth to breaking 50 knots in a hand-dug Namibian trench, Björn walks us through the 50-year evolution of speed sailing, the physics of wind angle, water flatness, and why 8–10 m wide is now “as good as it gets” for a channel you can't fall out of at 100 km/h.Channel Evolution & Record Progression: How speed sailing jumped from 30 knots in the South of France to 40 in Saint-Marie-la-Mer, 45 by Thierry Bielak, then exploded in Walvis Bay and finally Lüderitz—where a kitesurfer named Sebastien Cattelan dug the first trench, and six riders broke 50 knots in one week (2012–13).Lüderitz 2025 Setup: Björn's first sessions in “perfect south-easter” conditions, why 45–50 knots of wind is the sweet spot before chop kills speed, and how a scratched fin or lack of starting-area depth can end your run before it begins.Post-Surgery Comeback: At 115 kg and 56 years young, how titanium hips have restored confidence, why Severne sails (5.2–5.7 m²), 40 cm Starboard speed boards, and custom fins are dialed, and the mental edge of knowing “I can still do this.”Gear & Technique for 100 km/h: Why boards are only 227 cm long / 35–45 L, how you rail the upwind third of the channel, and the art of body-position micro-adjustments to keep a 40 cm board from catapulting in full-power 5.2 conditions.Wipeouts & Safety: “Your day is over after a big one.” Helmet + impact vest = minimum; grit + not crashing = the real safety plan.Getting Into Speed Sailing: Download the WaterSpeed app (free), track your 100 m / 250 m / 500 m times anywhere, then upload to GPS-SpeedSurfing.com and join the Dunkerbeck Speed Challenge (50+ countries, 10th year running). Start on whatever gear you have—25 knots becomes 30, then 40…Family Legacy: Four kids, two girls, two boys. Son Liam (17)—triple U21 wave world champ, former U18 Lüderitz record holder (80+ km/h)—currently training on Maui. Youngest Daniel (13 next week) already ripping waves and speed. How Björn transitioned from pro dominance to proud dad without losing the fire.Bonaire & Dunkerbeck Pro Center: 10 years strong at Sorobon's turquoise lagoon—Defi Wind Bonaire returns June 16–21, 2026 (111 spots only). From 5-year-olds in harnesses to 90-year-olds still planing, it's the world's safest speed playground.Foiling vs Fin: Björn's light-wind foil arsenal (6.0–10.0 m² + Phantom 960/1950/910 wings) as low-wind speed training, why foils won't touch Lüderitz (not enough depth, too much drag), and whether sub-40 cm masts could ever push foils past 100 km/h.The Limit? Björn's take: 100 km/h average on 500 m is very possible; top speed >103.68 km/h likely. Beyond 105 km/h, cavitation theories split the experts—we'll know when we get there.Red Bull Family: 32 years, 800+ athletes, from windsurfing's early days to F1 and America's Cup. How should we balance innovation, power and accountability in the digital age? This week, Amol speaks to Sir Nick Clegg — former UK deputy prime minister and former president of global affairs at Meta — about the power and responsibility of big tech companies. Sir Nick argues that breaking them up won't solve the problem of their digital dominance, calling instead for greater regulation and user control. He discusses how technology shapes young people's lives, warning against moral panic whilst calling for stronger age-appropriate safeguards and phone-free schools. And with rare candour, Sir Nick offers an insider's perspective on how Silicon Valley really works — and why governments, not tech CEOs like Mark Zuckerberg, must ultimately set the rules. He also talks about politics and philosophy, arguing that true liberalism — rooted in reason, openness, and the belief in evidence over emotion — remains vital in an increasingly polarised world. W rozmowie wspieramy się krytycznymi analizami m.in. Karen Hao, Kate Crawford oraz Sylwii Czubkowskiej. Pytanie brzmi zatem: do jakiego stopnia opowieści o AI to technologiczny kicz? Special Guests: Edyta Sadowska and Kasia Zaniewska.

A few weeks ago, on our classic sci-fi series we shared the story “The Outer Limit” by Graham Doar. It was originally published in The Saturday Evening Post in December of 1949, but I originally heard it on an episode of the 1950's radio drama X Minus One. I mentioned in the episode that Darren and I were unable to find a copy of the original story, so we actually adapted the original radio drama script into a short story version. Here's our version from the September 25th episode: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4IlfSzOLj4RZw9patUvE7x?si=f1f4d5c593b04e46I thought it would be fun to share the original X Minus One episode.
In this final episode of Season 3 of Tech It to the Limit, hosts Sarah Harper and Elliott Wilson go global and get grounded with a very special guest. After sharing travel tales from Germany and the HLTH conference, Sarah and Elliott debut their new game, “Trust-O-Meter,” rating real-world health tech scandals and solutions on a scale from “hospital stairwell cell signal” to “grandma's green bean casserole.”Then, they sit down with Dr. David Rhew, Global Chief Medical Officer at Microsoft, for a wide-ranging, surprisingly personal conversation on everything from his pivot from academia to industry ( a VA grant pushed him out) to the future of oculomics, voice biomarkers, and responsible AI. Dr. Rhew breaks down the three layers of bias, explains why implementation is everything, and doesn't shy away from the hard truth about AI and the future of the healthcare workforce. It's a deep, funny, and profoundly human conversation to close out the season. The episode wraps with Wise Nugs and a final health tech haiku, leaving listeners hopeful and ready for Season 4.Key TakeawaysTrust needs humans in the loop :AI earns credibility when it supports clinical workflows, not replaces them.Bias hides in plain sight :Data, model design, and deployment all carry bias. Responsible AI means addressing all three.Implementation eats innovation for breakfast: Technology does not change healthcare; adoption and usability do.Your eyes and voice are the new vital signs :Oculomics and voice biomarkers are turning everyday signals into early detection tools.Equity must be built in, not bolted on:“Neutral AI” does not exist. Fairness and transparency have to be engineered from the start.Automation is not the enemy; stagnation is :AI will replace tasks, not purpose. The key is reskilling and redefining human work.In this episode:[00:00:13] Welcome to the season 3 finale[00:01:19] Host travel log[00:05:24] Game debut: Trust-o-meter[00:22:01] Interview: Dr. David Rhew[00:23:34] Dad jokes and Korean BBQ regrets[00:25:27] From white coat to cloud[00:30:52] Bridging the hype-reality gap[00:34:50] Oculomics: The 2-minute eye scan[00:38:02] The DMA of bias[00:45:27] The TRAIN consortium[00:48:45] Cloud consolidation and data stewardship[00:58:29] Call to action: Operationalizing trust[01:05:32] Spicy nugs: Key takeaways[01:14:09] Health tech haiku and sign-offResources:Tech It To The Limit PodcastWebsite Apple PodcastDr. David RhewLinkedIn -https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-rhew-m-d-1832764/Sarah HarperLinkedIn -https://www.linkedin.com/in/sarahbethharperElliott WilsonLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/in/matthewelliottwilson

We want to give, to gather, and to make memories. But if we're not careful, the bills that follow can overshadow the joy.Begin by setting a total spending limit. Start with what you can afford, not what you wish you could. That number becomes your guardrail for the season. You're not being stingy—you're being wise. Every dollar you keep out of debt stays available for future generosity.Next, divide that total into categories—food, travel, gifts, decorations, charitable giving—whatever matters most to your family. Writing it down makes the plan tangible and easier to follow. If you're hosting Thanksgiving dinner, include the cost of groceries. If you're traveling, plan for gas or airfare now so you're not caught off guard later.Pay With Cash or DebitStudies show we spend about 30% more when paying with credit. Whenever possible, pay with cash or a debit card. If you must use a credit card, set a firm limit and stick to it.Some families even open a separate account just for holiday spending. It creates a natural boundary and helps avoid impulse purchases. There's real freedom in knowing you've already decided what's enough.Get Creative With GivingWhether it's hosting Thanksgiving dinner or wrapping Christmas gifts, remember—it's not about the price tag. A handwritten note, a framed photo, or a homemade pie can carry far more meaning than something store-bought.Acts 20:35 reminds us, “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” That blessing isn't about the cost—it's about the heart. If your children are old enough, invite them to help bake cookies for neighbors or make handmade gifts for grandparents. These shared experiences create memories that last far longer than the presents themselves. You can also use what you already have—redeem unused reward points or gift cards. It's one more way to keep spending within your means.Plan Ahead for Next YearWhen January rolls around, start setting aside a little each month for the next holiday season. Even $50 a paycheck can make a big difference. By next November, you'll be ready to give and celebrate without anxiety. If you prefer automation, set up a small transfer to a dedicated savings account. You'll hardly notice it leaving your budget—but you'll be grateful when the holidays return.Partner With a Faith-Based Financial InstitutionIf you're looking for a trusted place to save, consider our friends at Christian Community Credit Union (CCCU)—a financial institution that's been serving believers and ministries for over 68 years. They share your faith and are committed to helping you manage money in a way that honors God. Gratitude is where wise stewardship begins. And as Christmas draws near, let your giving reflect the joy of God's greatest gift—His Son, Jesus Christ. When we give with grateful hearts and live with margin, we reflect His generosity to the world around us. Ultimately, this creates space for what matters most: faith, family, gratitude, and the celebration of Christ's birth.Even when finances feel tight, remember—lasting peace isn't found in numbers or careful planning, but in resting on God's faithful provision. That is the heart of faithful stewardship: learning to live not from scarcity, but from trust in the One who provides abundantly. And when you do, you'll find a joy that lasts long after the holidays are over.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I've been on and off Social Security disability after a head injury, but was later able to return to work. His new book, The Science of Revenge: Understanding the World's Deadliest Addiction—and How to Overcome It, explores why our brains crave retaliation and how forgiveness can literally rewire us toward peace. Our conversation begins with a deeply personal story that shaped James's life's work and unpacks how revenge functions like an addiction — one fueled by pain, dopamine, and unchecked desire. What follows is a fascinating look at how our minds process grievance, why forgiveness is a neurological superpower, and how awareness can keep us from being consumed by cycles of anger and retaliation.Six Discussion PointsHow a violent act of bullying led James to study the neuroscience of revengeThe brain's pain and reward circuits — and how they make revenge feel like a drugWhy grievances compound and can trigger impulsive reactionsThe distinction between self-defense, grief, and revengeHow forgiveness shuts down the brain's pain network and restores self-controlWhy awareness, reflection, and tools like journaling can help break the revenge cycleThree Connection PointsGet James's bookVisit James's websiteCheck out the Miracle Court appThis conversation reminded me that the pause — that small, deliberate moment between grievance and reaction — can change everything. James's work shows us that forgiveness isn't about excusing others; it's about freeing ourselves. I hope this episode helps you reflect on where small moments of release might lead to greater clarity, peace, and yes, productiveness.Build a sustainable system for attention, rhythm, and trust with TimeCrafting & ADHD — a new course inside TimeCrafting Trust Premium. The Parable of the Lost Sheep reveals the Father's passionate heart to pursue even one straying believer. This love and grace motivate Jesus' command on how to "gain your brother" when sin divides. When Peter asks about the limits of this forgiveness, the Parable of the Unforgiving Servant provides a stark contrast: God's infinite debt-canceling grace, in light of Christ's atonement, versus the petty and calculating unforgiveness of man. The Rev. Peter Burfeind, pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Union City, MI and Agnus Dei Lutheran Church in Marshall, MI, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Matthew 18:(11), 12-35. The Gospel of Matthew bridges Old and New Testaments, presenting Jesus as the promised Messiah who fulfills the Law we could never keep and establishes His kingdom of grace for all nations. Written by a tax collector transformed by pure grace, Matthew reveals Christ as the true Son of David and Emmanuel (God with us) who challenges us with the crushing demands of the Law in His Sermon on the Mount to the sweet comfort of the Gospel in His death and resurrection. From royal genealogy to glorious resurrection, this verse-by-verse study proclaims the One who conquered sin, death, and the devil for us, now delivering forgiveness, life, and salvation through Word and Sacrament as He remains with His church always, even to the end of the age. Thy Strong Word, hosted by Rev. Dr. Phil Booe, pastor of St. John Lutheran Church of Luverne, MN, reveals the light of our salvation in Christ through study of God's Word, breaking our darkness with His redeeming light. Each weekday, two pastors fix our eyes on Jesus by considering Holy Scripture, verse by verse, in order to be strengthened in the Word and be equipped to faithfully serve in our daily vocations.
