The Third Culture Podcast is a delightful podcast that never fails to bring a smile to its listeners' faces. Hosted by two charismatic individuals, the podcast's approach to life and friendship is prevalent throughout each episode, making it an enjoyable experience to listen to their thoughts on various topics. Whether you are a Third Culture Kid (TCK) or not, this podcast offers funny, insightful, thoughtful, and often random conversations that can resonate with anyone.
One of the best aspects of The Third Culture Podcast is the genuine chemistry between the hosts. Their friendship shines through in every episode, creating an inviting atmosphere that feels like you're listening in on two friends catching up. This camaraderie adds an extra layer of authenticity to their discussions and makes it easy to connect with their perspectives. Additionally, their ability to tackle nitty-gritty topics while still maintaining a lighthearted tone is commendable. They bring humor and levity to subjects that can often be heavy or complex, allowing listeners to engage with these topics in a more accessible and enjoyable way.
Another great aspect of this podcast is its universal appeal. While it caters specifically towards TCKs, the conversations are relatable and enjoyable for people from all backgrounds. The hosts perfectly balance their personal experiences as TCKs with broader insights into human nature and society at large. This combination makes the content relevant and interesting for both TCKs looking for a sense of community and understanding, as well as non-TCKs seeking fresh perspectives on life.
However, there are a few aspects of The Third Culture Podcast that may not resonate with everyone. Occasionally, the random nature of the discussions can lead to tangents that some listeners may find distracting or irrelevant. While this can add charm to the podcast at times, it might also make it feel less focused for those who prefer more structured conversations. Additionally, due to its conversational format, some episodes may lack depth or thorough exploration of certain topics. This can leave listeners craving more in-depth analysis on subjects that they find intriguing.
In conclusion, The Third Culture Podcast is a wonderful show that offers a unique blend of humor, insight, and friendship. The hosts' ability to tackle various topics while maintaining an enjoyable and accessible tone is commendable. Whether you are a TCK or not, this podcast provides thought-provoking conversations that will leave you smiling. While it may not appeal to those seeking structured discussions or in-depth analysis, its universal appeal and relatability make it worth listening to. Give it a listen and join the delightful world of The Third Culture Podcast!
"It's cuffing season." Brandee Knowles (no relation to Beyoncé, we think) is in the studio with us as we talk through singleness and all its glory in life and ministry. Krista and I may be married women, but we were single once and it's safe to say that it was the best of times and the worst of times (but not for reasons you may think). This is the second part of The Youth Ministry Tea and the kettle is whistling. Over our many years of serving, we've seen God grow us to value honesty and transparency in ministry so... we asked some youth workers to anonymously submit statements they wish they could discuss more openly with their youth's parents. Our heart is to address patterns and to bring reconciliation into difficult situations in light of the Gospel. Because of the Gospel, there is so much grace in confession, correction, and submitting to one another. Followers of Jesus, you make up the household of faith! So come on in, have a seat at the table for some tea, and let's have a family meeting. --- If you have some hometown ministry stories that you'd like to share, email us at thirdculturepod@gmail.com! Here's the Youth Minis-tea: over 15+ years of youth ministry does something to you. In this episode, we comb through some things we've learned along the way while serving in youth ministry. We're talking youth group, camps, retreats, conferences, and summer-long discipleship programs. We even asked some saints to weigh in on their experiences with leading junior high and high school ministries, and there are some hard (but good) conversations to be had. This is the first of two youth-themed episodes, so stay tuned for next week when we share "Things I Wish I Could Say to My Students' Parents." There's something about this time of year that makes us feel all the nostalgia. We can all agree that this year was LAME, so in this episode we reminisce a little further back to each of our nomadic childhoods through the 90s-00s. How does one "friend" exactly? Faith Wake and Krista Rull here. We invited our longtime best friends Whitney Gans and Brandee Knowles for a Destiny's Child reunion and to talk about what it takes to maintain friendships as an adult. Making friends can be awkward and challenging, but we've learned that deep and honest friendships are necessary for our maturation and spiritual formation. Why is social media? In this episode, Faith and Krista talk about dial-up internet, embarrassing email addresses and usernames (i.e. alwayzsmilez07, teen_tiger2000, etc.), growing up during the rise of social media, and its role in today's culture. Whether you love or hate social media, there's something to be said about its influence in the world around us. A definition we cover in the episode: "Social media is a worldwide highway of conversation with the sacred potential of being used by followers of Jesus to carry the message of the Gospel." SURPRISE! B-B-B-BONUS! We (Faith Wake & Krista Rull) recorded and edited this bonus episode shortly after the release of The Pilot, and smack dab in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic. Thales Jay Wake and Royce Rull, our super cool husbands, join the conversation as we comb through how 2020 has been so far, from early talks about the Coronavirus to our Palawan missions trip to the quarantine moment we're living in at the release of this episode. We touch on dealing with Shelter-In-Place orders, social media KABOOMs, switching to church online, army crawling through Zoom meetings, recording worship sets, learning new skills, staying creative, and Marvel time heists. Things are changing fast--federal and state mandates, job and ministry situations, this strange political climate, and more. A lot of these changes have affected us in the past week alone, so we had to release this, as Michael Scott says, "ASAP as possible." We hope this chill conversation makes you feel like you're hanging out with your friends in this weird time. Follow us on Instagram at @thirdculturepod. Here we gooooo! The Pilot is here and we are as ready as we will ever be. In this episode, we (Faith Wake & Krista Rull) talk about what The Third Culture Podcast is all about, what even is a Third Culture Kid, and our own TCK stories that have brought us to this point--this point right here with the subpar recording and unlimited artillery of niche boyband and fandom references. Please note: We recorded this episode towards the end of 2019 before we got really good microphones. Even so, we're still figuring out this production stuff. Don't be repelled by the pops and muffles. We hope you stick around for the storytelling, regardless of the sound quality. We hope you love it. This episode took a lot of panicked planning, should-we-do-it's and let's-just-flippin-do-it's. If you don't love it, just move on to the next thing. We don't do well with haterade. It sits funny in our stomachs. Haterade intolerance, amiright? Follow us on Instagram at @thirdculturepod.
