Podcast by Sue Farmer & Katie Brockhurst
In the new Transforming Mind Matters podcast Katie and Sue do a deep dive into social media usage, exploring the questions: When we escape via technology, do we come back? Are there limits to the addictiveness of technology? What's going on at a subconscious level when we use social media? How do our online "alter-egos" affect our physical health and what happens when we base our wellbeing on social media stats? How do we help people have a healthy interaction with social media? Enjoy!
Sue Farmer and Katie Brockhurst discus the plethora of '10 steps to' and Listicles we see on platforms like Linked In and across social media and what they can do to our self esteem, our mental health and stress levels - whilst exploring ways to navigate the modern stresses of the world that feeds a feeling of not being good enough which many of us silently suffer with but don't speak about.
In this podcast Sue and Katie discuss the damaging power of the scarcity mindset and our whole sense that there isn't enough. Scarcity leads to mistrust and stress and a hard heart. When we have a hard heart it's difficult to help other people, but when we help other people we heal our hard hearts. Ultimately, all the fear-driven reactions are not true unless we make them true. By becoming more self-aware - spending time on us, and recognising the value of space, we cultivate the ability to know what to do.
In the latest Transforming Mind Matters podcast Sue and Katie unpick the qualities of a great leader. A definition of leader is our ability to build capacity, create self mastery and amplify that self mastery to a point where we can enable others to grow develop and become masters themselves. So often what holds back average leaders is the extra bit of self-awareness and ability to connect with others. But we cannot begin to become self-aware until we've quietened on the inside. Meditation can do this, and it’s not as hard as you might think. In fact, it’s very natural! If we want our mindset to change we need to combine intent from the mind with intent from the body. Just a small amount of meditation can facilitate this process. We start to rewire our brains, cultivating our qualities of leadership and mastery.
Sue and Katie reflect on the state of mind we get into in the run up to Christmas - overworked, overtired, and insanely pressured to make things special. Sue shows us that where we put our attention is where we put our energy, so if all of our energy is focused on being exhausted then we are feeding the exhaustion and making it worse! Before long we have a stress-laden Christmas! By bringing a bit of awareness to moments of anxiety, and by looking for moments of satisfaction when they come up we change our experience of this stressful time of year.
What is the impact of our insecurity on the environment we are in? Sue and Katie dive into the truth that we can be impacted by our environment, or create an impact on others -on a genetic level, on a thinking level often completely unintentionally.
Katie and Sue talk about Sue's recent business transformation and new identity as Opportuniality, the pitfalls of over-reliance on data and systems in the corporate world and her work bringing ancient and cutting edge holistic wisdom into big business.
Is fear showing up and manifesting in different or emotional ways? Are you able to recognise it? Are you able to lean into it? We discuss some examples and ideas on how to lean into your fear and how that can support you in your work and your life.
It's that time of the year where we often blame the weather (or others!) for making us grumpy - but what would it take for us to look at ourselves and identify where we are responsible for our own mood - and how by doing this we can shift things which can then help us with our relationships - with ourself, with our colleagues at work and family at home...
Business coach Sue Farmer discusses with digital marketing consultant Katie Brockhurst how we often look at situations be it in the board room, on social media or at home from our own perspective and what happens when we do.
