The new dynamic duo discuss one of the most influential TV shows of all time. B has seen every episode, Money has seen none!
The dead slayers are more interesting.
Wolfram & Hart just saved a whole bunch of money on employee health benefits.RIP Gavin and your super amazing cheekbones.
I think this thing I ranted about Jonathon may be my best work ever.
Can killing someone have consequences please?
Apparently Cordner is a thing . . ..
Angel has a bad summer.Cordy even worse (probably). But I like Gwen. And it turns out the alt-scoobs look like they are coming back together.
Y'all . . . . we're on the final season! We recorded this like a month ago so I forget my favorite parts. Enjoy!
Cordy is the best character in the entire Buffyverse. Don't @ me.Also I support Groodelia.
Yeah this one made me feel gross.
My two favorite things. Cordy and getting paid.
So this time we recorded in the car still, but without the rain. That variable turned out to be insignificant, as we still sound like shit. Sorry Y'all, we're really trying to find a way to make this work. Thanks for sticking by us.Also these episodes feel like a return to season 1- the heaviness and malaise is gone briefly, which makes these episodes hard to get into. Not bad, just . . . filler.
Hey y'all, I want to apologize in advance for the sound quality here. We tried a little experiment to see if we could get the recording done in the car. That night it was raining . . . hard. So, yeah we don't sound very good when trying to filter out background noise. As for these episodes, well, this was a very big disappointment for the Darla storyline. Such a force of nature brought back in the world in order to fuck shit up hard . . . but she ends up killing herself for a baby. It's a real letdown. I wanted her to be a real antagonist.
A whole bunch of shit happens.Buffy fucks Spike.Tara dumps Willow.Spike owes kittens.Giles blows town (again).
We're back! Also we recorded this seven weeks ago.
Natasha and Money had a live podcast this year at Loscon. So be prepared for us to discuss laundry, logistics, spaceship repair, sexual harassment complaints, and poo.
We meet Fred's parents. They are very Texan. I love her mom. Also Lila is pretty great. But misogyny . . .
Here are some ho-hum episodes of Buffy. The jackass crew tries to gaslight buffy some more. Also Dawn gets her first kiss on Halloween.
It's about damn time we had some actual Gunn development. This time he has to take on his old gang. And orchestrate a coup from the outside.Fred is useless. Also angel gets his body stolen, nearly fucks Lila (!) and breaks Fred's heart.
So Buffy is back and she's not particularly happy to be so.Tara and Willow have taken up Joyce's bedroom, she's broke, and she remembers . .. well that would be spoilery.Somehow the only one she can be honest with is Spike.I don't like where this is going. Because it's clearly going to Spike's penis.
So apparently Angel had friends outside of Darla? He was also a disloyal piece of shit. And now his chickens are coming home to roost. Also Cordy makes him confront his feeling about Buffy being dead. Also, more Skip, please
We're back and Willow scares me.BuffyBot . . . I'm so sorry that happened to you. Spike is still a moody, depressive twat, Giles packs up and leaves. Also why is this the first time we're seeing a demon biker gang? I want more of this.
And so we come to the end of Season 2. Cordelia is a queen, Lorne's mom stole my heart, Fred is a thing, Angel goes Feral, Wesley finds the wolf, ram, and heart, and Gunn is there.
Hey so there's no way I can really write about this without getting majorly spoilery so . . . just watch the episode and listen.
Hey y'all,Apologies for missing our broadcast last week. Due to a computer death and some traveling and some difficulty getting all my tools back on a borrow machine, we hit some snags.Anyway, have some table-setting for what looks to be a fun finale.
Yo I'm angry about this fridging. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Also I'm not buying Willow's fight with Tara. Fuck you, Joss.So there's a road trip, and the most useless character ever appears- Ben.Treat your queers better, show writers!
It took way too long to get to the pun.Harmony and Cordelia have a history, and we finally get to a good use of the two. Harmony is also totally the type of vampire to get drawn in to a pyramid scheme. I hope the show is learning that it does really well when it's not all about the Angel Gaze.Leslie also makes a dramatic exit.It doesn't feel very consistent with his character, but nothing has so far. This is the breaking point, finding out his colleagues are being harvested for organs? Oh well. Something had to finally do it. Let's hope this means we get more Lila.
We have one more episode dealing with the fallout of Joyce's death, where little Dawn decides to raise her mom from the dead. This was a bit predictable and boilerplate- if not for the character twist at the end. Decent but pales in comparison to the last one (*shudder*).Also, Spike has decided to commission a Buffy robot, and I'm pretty stoked about SMG's acting in this one. But I'm disappointed in the lack of vision among the scooby gang. Having slayer robots would give Buffy some much-needed breathing room and seems to be a long-term solution to the vampire menace . . . why has the watcher's council not contacted Warren to talk about scaling his operation up?
Soooo much wokeness to tackle in these episodes. Also, apparently you still work for W&H after you die? Do lawyers have valued skill sets in Hell?Kate gets fired. And it makes sense, I wish more procedurals with supernatural elements would get this.
Y'all, men are terrible.Spike comes out to Buffy about his crush, then reconnects with Drusilla . . . and honestly neither of them come out smelling any better. These are not characters I want to spend more time with unless their given something more than romantic feelings to work with. Harmony dumps Spike, but through that entire fight scene I couldn't get over that Buffy has very personal reasons to want both Harmony and Dru dead, but all her attention is focused on her bickering with Spike. Then we have a robot girl looking for Warren. Warren is trash, and a coward, but the final five minutes of this episode were rather touching. Both Buffy staying with robot girl as she powers down . . . . and . . . yeah. That last part broke my heart. We'll be back in two weeks with Natasha as a guest star.
We were hangry. And we didn't like these eps. What happened to Darla?
Everyone knows but Dawn.I've been there, that's some bullshit. I feel you, girl. Also Glory is a god, but I don't know what that means in this context? Are gods above or below the Powers that Be? We're the oracles immortal too? Also the Watcher's council is back and are just as useless as ever.
So Angel got dark. Also he fired everyone. But we're all here for the Darla/Drusilla stuff, so we don't really care.
It's mostly contrived nonsense this week.Bright Spots:Kate. I've made no secret that I like Kate, and I like that she's not Angel's friend. I hope this doesn't change their dynamic. It's much more interesting to have these two good guys at each other's throats and getting in each other's way. I don't want Angel to become Kate's friend just because he's good. Drusilla/Darla. Honestly most of the "good" comes from speculation on my part here. The fact that Drusilla is in league with W&H makes this so much more interesting, as it finally puts a believable reason behind bringing Darla back, and hints at a much larger goal.
Y'all . . . These episodes were truly affecting. Buffy is having to grow up fast, with Joyce dealing with a life-threatening illness. Worse, there's no supernatural cause, so there's nothing Buffy is used to fighting. And she has to be a mom to Dawn along with all her other duties. Not to mention the bug demon that preys on the mentally ill? And that other people can summon it to get rid of troublesome people?Jesus this is dark.
Holy shit holy shit holy shit. THIS IS WHY I'M HERE!
She lying, I didn't accost her, she's a vamp- oh hai Darla
