EPISODE SUMMARY What happens when outward success hides inner burnout? In this powerful conversation with entrepreneur, resilience coach, and author Tracy Doyle, we explore the hidden cost of high performance, the emotional toll of ambition, and why so many successful people feel disconnected despite achieving everything they thought would make them happy. Tracy shares her journey from childhood trauma and instability to becoming an award-winning CEO, then hitting a breaking point that forced her to confront burnout, relationship strain, and unresolved emotional patterns. We dive into the psychology of success, trauma-driven ambition, perfectionism, emotional wellness, and how to rebuild a life rooted in peace instead of pressure. We discuss Tracy's book Life Storms: Finding Your Clear Sky and the practical tools behind her Aurora Method—a framework designed to help high achievers break destructive patterns, heal burnout, and reconnect with themselves and the people they love. If you're interested in burnout recovery, mental health, emotional resilience, trauma healing, entrepreneurship, self-development, women's leadership, relationships, or peak performance, this episode is packed with insight. WE TALKED ABOUT … The connection between burnout, trauma, and identity … Why success can become an addiction that never truly satisfies … The version of yourself that may need to die for healing to begin EPISODE NOTES Tracy Doyle is an entrepreneur, author of Life Storms: Finding Your Clear Sky, and emotional wellness advocate whose work sits at the intersection of business achievement and personal transformation. Her journey — from a childhood shaped by trauma and instability, to award-winning CEO, to resilience coach — is living proof that our deepest wounds can become our greatest purpose. The first in her family to graduate college, Tracy earned a bachelor's degree in psychology and counseling before building a standout career in the pharmaceutical industry. She founded and led a multimillion-dollar medical communications company — earning the regional Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and recognition from Forbes, Entrepreneur, and Inc. — before answering a different call. Behind the accolades was a truth she couldn't ignore: the cost of high performance. Emotional burnout and disconnection had quietly eroded her relationships and personal fulfillment. That breaking point became the catalyst for everything that followed — including the Aurora Method, a psychology-informed, mindfulness-based framework that helps people understand what drives their relationship conflicts and emotional burnout, break the patterns keeping them stuck, and restore connection with themselves and the people who matter most. Newt talks with Dan Doyle, president of Reliance Well Services and Arena Resources and author of the new book, “Of Roughnecks & Riches: A Start-Up in the Great American Fracking Boom.” They discuss his decision to found a fracking company in 2009 amid the post-2008 financial crisis, despite severe industry volatility and personal setbacks. Doyle recounts his early fascination with oil sparked by family drilling projects in northwestern Pennsylvania, his shift to geology at the University of Pittsburgh, and his early career raising money for wells in Pennsylvania and Texas. He characterizes the broader oil and gas sector as a high-risk, “cowboy” culture that persists even as the industry becomes more corporate. Doyle explains that he wrote “Of Roughnecks and Riches” because the chaotic, risk-filled story of his startup, from volatile partners and a truck builder who pulled a knife on him after receiving substantial funds, to visits from the Attorney General’s office, was too dramatic not to document.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Often overshadowed by his former bandmates, Ringo Starr has his own remarkable story that is no less compelling. Ringo: A Fab Life highlights a life so jaw-droppingly eventful that one is left wondering how he also had time to become one of the best musicians on the planet.Employing an episodic, mosaic format, critically acclaimed author Tom Doyle takes readers through the ride of a lifetime, from Starr's brushes with death as a child brought up in poverty, through to dizzying heights of fame and success with the Beatles and beyond. By examining pivotal moments, anecdotes, and cautionary tales, we see Starr soar as part of the biggest band in the world - and then try to cope with life outside of it with a film career, misadventures with friends, children's TV narration, furniture designing, and marriage to a Bond girl, before eventually finding peace and sobriety as one of the elder statesmen of rock.So much more than another Beatles biography, Ringo follows Starr's career far beyond the rose-tinted '60s, through the various addictions and career left turns in the '70s and '80s, before reaching the '90s, his legacy and reputation intact. The life of Richard Starkey is long overdue for a proper inspection, and this book - with exclusive new interviews conducted by Doyle with Starr himself, among others - provides a never-before-seen level of detail that will delight hardcore fans and curious readers alike.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support.

The episode introduces Chris's unique approach to operations consultancy that prioritizes understanding the core of business challenges instead of only addressing surface symptoms. Doyle and Cooke delve into topics such as pattern recognition, the importance of ethical business practices, and the Japanese concept of "Ikigai" which contributes to Ethikai's ethos. The conversation highlights the importance of business self-awareness and strategic planning. Chris emphasizes the necessity of knowing one's business goals, likening the direction of a business to a road trip where knowing your destination is crucial. Brad's Friday game night exists because he got uncomfortable during COVID and started networking. That group of strangers a travel agent, Microsoft expert, idea coach, and HR consultant became the friends now playing ridiculous word games together. More importantly, they became the network that solves real business problems. That network paid off when a client texted Friday at 10:30 AM needing 2,000 square feet of outdoor storage space by Monday. Brad connected them with a trucking client who had yard space, solving the problem in hours. Business owners who don't build networks miss these opportunities constantly. Most business owners default to Craigslist or calling their CPA for referrals instead of developing real relationships with their service providers. The commercial insurance agent, financial planner, and even personal insurance broker are sitting on valuable networks but only if you actually build relationships beyond paying invoices.Brad challenges all the bankers, lawyers, and CPAs listening: stop accepting "I'm too busy" as an answer. Go have coffee with your blue collar clients. Learn who they are beyond the annual meeting. This tight-knit community rewards those who show up and provide real value. For technicians going into homes, be curious about the homeowners. They know tons of people and run businesses. A simple conversation about their work can lead to referrals neither party expected. The window installer who showed up with a trailer organized to the nines got Brad's referrals because that trailer opening signaled competence.Highlights:Brad solved a client's emergency storage crisis in hours by connecting two people in his network. Most business owners only contact service providers when paying bills or fixing problems not building relationships.Your commercial insurance agent, financial planner, and banker have networks you're not tapping into.Technicians should be curious about homeowners - they run businesses and know people who need referrals. Is your network limited to the people you already know? Your net worth really is your network but only if you invest time building real relationships.Make sure to subscribe to Blue Collar BS for practical advice about what actually works in business. This podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Podtrac - https://analytics.podtrac.com/privacy-policy-gdrpOP3 - https://op3.dev/privacy

For the first time in a decade, Doyle returns to the Holmes canon with a locked-door murder, a sharp-shooter, and a reunion—or three. Sarah & Marisa discuss “The Adventure of the Empty House,” Holmes' triumphant return that introduces the age-old question - can a white boy do a little martial arts? We discuss Shakespeare, evil Watson, eugenics in the turn of the century, tiger metaphors, the lost years, and one journey's ending in an iconic meeting.Find recommended reading, more stories, info about the show and more on our website:https://www.howeverimprobablepodcast.comSend us mail! howeverimprobablepod@gmail.com
Mark's out, so Pat and Doyle are running the two man game this week. The guys discuss the World Cup, react to eye-watering ticket prices and Boston's giant lobster-themed commemorative kit. From there, they discuss whether the Knicks' dismantling of Philly changes the Celtics place in the East and perform a weekly vitals check on the Sox. Finally, the guys break down the Patriots schedule release including the best away game cities for a boys trip and the NFL's obsession with putting games on every day of the week.
What if the smallest act of vulnerability… could completely change someone's life? In this deeply heartfelt solo episode, Darin explores a simple but radically transformative idea: go first. In a world where people are more digitally connected yet emotionally isolated than ever before, Darin breaks down the neuroscience, psychology, and human power behind making eye contact, giving genuine compliments, expressing appreciation, and risking authentic connection. From oxytocin and nervous system regulation to loneliness research and real-life stories of spontaneous connection with strangers, this episode is a reminder that healing doesn't always begin in a therapist's office—it can begin in a coffee shop, a grocery line, or a brief moment where one human being chooses to truly see another. What You'll Learn Why modern society is experiencing a crisis of disconnection and loneliness The hidden psychological cost of avoiding vulnerability Why brief positive interactions with strangers improve mental health The neuroscience behind social rejection and fear of connection How oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin are activated through authentic interaction Why vulnerability is a trainable "muscle" that rewires your nervous system The power of eye contact, compliments, and acknowledgment Why meaningful human interaction lowers stress and inflammation How small moments of courage create ripple effects for others Practical ways to "go first" and create more connection every day Chapters 00:00:32 – Sponsor: Fatty15 and the science of cellular health 00:01:03 – C15:0, mitochondrial function, and healthy aging 00:02:12 – Why many people may be deficient in C15 00:03:19 – "Celebrate science": discovering new essential fatty acids 00:04:13 – Opening reflection: noticing strangers in everyday life 00:04:52 – The moment we stop ourselves from speaking 00:05:10 – How many genuine moments do we suppress every day? 00:05:33 – Why these "tiny swallowed moments" matter deeply 00:06:02 – Humanity starving for real human connection 00:06:23 – "I see you. Dan Doyle, oil entrepreneur and author of Of Roughnecks and Riches, brings a ground-level view of what's actually happening in the American energy industry — a rig count in freefall as of February that flipped to a boom overnight when Iran closed the Strait, well costs up 65-70% driven by steel prices, and a shale sector that can't survive at $50 oil. Doyle and David Knight walk through the strategic logic of Venezuela — three million barrels a day under Nixon, now barely a million after socialist confiscation, with Exxon and the major service companies now quietly circling back in. The bigger picture is a potential Western Hemisphere energy bloc: U.S., Canadian, Alaskan, and South American production that could get America off Middle Eastern oil entirely — if the political class doesn't kill it first, the same way Biden cancelled mandatory BLM lease sales on day one and the same way New York bans Marcellus shale extraction while 26% of its children live in poverty. What if loneliness isn't just an emotion… but one of the most dangerous biological threats to your health? In this deeply personal and scientifically explosive solo episode, Darin opens up about something he recently realized in his own life: despite being surrounded by people, he was lonely. But what began as an emotional realization quickly became a deep dive into some of the most shocking research he's ever uncovered, showing that chronic loneliness may increase the risk of heart disease, dementia, cancer, autoimmune dysfunction, accelerated aging, and early death. From inflammatory gene expression and cortisol dysregulation to oxytocin, vulnerability, and the collapse of real human connection in the digital age, this episode reveals why loneliness may be the most overlooked "fatal convenience" of modern life, and how vulnerability may be the medicine. What You'll Learn Why loneliness is a biological crisis, not just an emotional feeling The shocking link between loneliness and heart disease, dementia, and early death Why the quality of your relationships is the #1 predictor of long-term health How loneliness activates inflammatory genes inside your body The role of cortisol, sleep disruption, and chronic stress in social isolation Why social media and "surface-level connection" are replacing real intimacy The connection between loneliness and Alzheimer's disease How oxytocin and genuine connection reduce inflammation Why vulnerability is the gateway to meaningful relationships Practical ways to create deeper connection starting today Chapters 00:00:33 – Sponsor: the truth about the exploding NAD supplement market 00:01:04 – Why supplement verification and transparency matter 00:02:17 – Opening: Darin admits something deeply personal 00:02:30 – "I realized recently… I'm lonely" 00:02:37 – The difference between being surrounded by people vs being truly known 00:03:06 – Loneliness as a biological experience, not just an emotional one 00:03:27 – The hidden risks: heart disease, dementia, cancer, early death 00:03:45 – Why this is not fringe science 00:04:13 – The most important predictor of long-term health 00:04:34 – Why relationship QUALITY matters more than quantity 00:05:06 – The global loneliness epidemic 00:05:11 – U.S. Surgeon General advisory on loneliness 00:05:39 – Loneliness declared a public health crisis 00:06:02 – 50% of Americans report measurable loneliness 00:06:22 – "A generational collapse of connection" 00:06:30 – 29% of adults have no close friends 00:06:40 – Face-to-face interactions dramatically declining 00:07:01 – The UK, Japan, and Australia loneliness crisis initiatives 00:07:32 – The paradox: hyperconnected but deeply isolated 00:08:04 – Loneliness as a biological alarm signal 00:08:31 – What loneliness actually looks like in modern life 00:08:42 – The lonely CEO, the unseen mother, the isolated social media addict 00:09:31 – "Perceived social isolation" and why the brain can't tell the difference 00:10:21 – Meta-analysis of 3.4 million people 00:10:55 – Loneliness vs obesity and smoking risk comparisons 00:11:18 – The biology of loneliness begins 00:11:50 – NF-kB: inflammatory gene activation explained 00:12:33 – How loneliness changes gene expression 00:13:02 – Chronic inflammation and disease pathways 00:13:21 – Cortisol, sleep disruption, and immune dysfunction 00:14:00 – How loneliness affects brain repair and amyloid plaque clearing 00:14:21 – Sponsor: Fatty15 and cellular health 00:18:02 – The Alzheimer's and dementia connection 00:18:25 – Loneliness as a major modifiable dementia risk factor 00:18:57 – Cortisol, neuroinflammation, and brain degeneration 00:19:16 – The hippocampus physically shrinking in lonely people 00:19:27 – Social media as a "fatal convenience" 00:19:57 – The oxytocin economy: connection as medicine 00:20:15 – Oxytocin as one of the body's strongest anti-inflammatory molecules 00:20:30 – HeartMath research: emotional synchronization between people 00:20:48 – "You regulate each other's biology" 00:21:07 – The real barrier: vulnerability 00:21:32 – Darin's recent experiences with radical vulnerability 00:21:54 – Conversations with family, ex-partners, and loved ones 00:22:35 – Brené Brown's research on connection and worthiness 00:23:14 – The "depth audit" exercise 00:23:42 – Reaching out, expressing appreciation, and owning your emotions 00:24:01 – Sacred hours: spending time without phones 00:24:13 – Questions that create real intimacy 00:24:30 – Darin's emotional conversation with his brother 00:25:03 – Protecting yourself from social media disconnection 00:25:20 – Becoming a source of joy and connection in everyday life 00:25:25 – Darin reflects on seven years of subtle loneliness 00:25:48 – The shift from surface conversations to meaningful connection 00:26:01 – "If you want love, give love" 00:26:19 – Final message: generate the connection you want to receive 00:26:22 – Closing thoughts and outro Thank You to Our Sponsors Truniagen: Go to www.truniagen.com and use code DARIN20 at checkout for 20% off Fatty15: Get an additional 15% off their 90-day subscription Starter Kit by going to fatty15.com/DARIN and using code DARIN at checkout.
